Well here is one of those fast food places no one seems to care about, not fancy, not expensive no reviews yet, so guess what I stopped by today to give it a try. Bust my buttons again, it surprised me. Long John Silvers a fast food fish/chicken place sitting in the mist of 5 other restaurants waiting for somebody to come by and eat. I ordered the fish/chicken combo, it came with fries and 2 hush puppies and a large drink all for you guessed it just $5.61. Wow that is cheap in todays rising food cost. I was tickled pink or is that red, the fish was light and lightly breaded and was good, the chicken was breaded as well but I was surprised I was expecting a dried up piece of chicken. I was wrong it was good and moist, I liked it a lot. (Don't know if it would be that way every time.). The hush puppies were good, fires not for me. Overall the service was great, the location easy to get in and out of, plenty of parking and very clean, the food was surprising good. The drive thur seemd quite busy. Always been a fan of Long John Silver's! It's good fast food. The fish is delicious with hush puppies and cole slaw with it. I had the popcorn shrimp this time which made a perfect compliment. The new Zesty Tarter Sauce is a must try! Gives it a nice kick. Grab a cup for a wash of sweet tea. Right on time! The Pineapple Cream Cheese pie is best served cold. Have them keep it in the fridge so you can enjoy it fresh. If you get it with your meal it will warm to room temperature and not be as tasty. Go Long Johns! read more

The prices have gone up 20% in the last year. This is of course the trend. And I eat here once a year. The food taste good but you know its not good for you. Grease.... The food overall is good when you need your LJS fix. It hits the spot. The real issue is that the restaurant is not clean. Go into the main dining hall, look on the ground up against the wall or by the feet of the tables and the place is filthy. Have some pride where you work. Been recently coming here with mom most Sundays for dinner. Time to share my review. Glad to have a fish and seafood fastfood in the area as it is a rare experience. We get and share one regular order of Fisherman's Combo with battered fish, shrimps, and hush puppies. We replace our side with onion rings that are fabulous. Soda comes with the combo. For $7.03 tax included, it is amazing. Service is great. The regular person serving us at the counter now even brings us our order since she now sort of like knows us by face. We appreciate the effort. This may well be a regular Sunday night dinner hangout after all. read more

First drove right past the place cause no lights were on. Had to drive around a block just to get back to it. I ordered the 2 tacos. I mentioned to who I think was the manager just to let them know about the lights and she said they were being fixed and had them turned back on with a little attitude just cause I mentioned it (personally I think they had them turned off so the could close up early). I ordered One chili grilled salmon and a southwest grilled shrimp. When I got home I got 2 fried fish ( cant eat fried food) tacos with barely anything in them. Tasted nasty and threw them away. Leaving the gym last Thursday (Sure, I'll go all-in with this review-of-shame by admitting I would go to a place like LJS just after leaving the gym/Zumba) I was about to head to "that burger place out 79 a bit that may or may not have a rat problem", and remembered that there was one just on the other side of the interstate. What with the wife's gluten tolerance issues, I've only had LJS once in recent memory: a disappointing visit to the Cameron Road location when my wife was out of town (wow, I really know how to party). But as a childhood favorite treat, the 50 shades of beige "fried shrimp and fish platter, double fries instead of fries and slaw, extra side of those crispy things" will always hold a place in my heart. (which reminds me... don't tell my cardiologist about this) And the Round Rock location gave me exactly what I remember. Well, except now they use cardboard boxes, instead of the styrofoam trays of my youth. But it was like opening a time capsule. Everything was perfectly crunchy outside and moist inside. Well, ok, it was more likely grease than anything, but still. Perfect. Well, there was a TOUCH of soggy here and there, but that's what happens when things go straight from the fry-a-lator to steam in a box. I don't see me going to dine inside just so it's fresher, while still in my gym clothes. The young gentleman working the drivethrough was appropriately courteous, and plenty fast. What more could I want??? Well, I could want a youthful metabolism whose liver performs lipolysis just as well as it did 35-odd years ago. But that's on me, not LJS. Nothing a 36 hour juice cleanse couldn't fix. And sure, they have non-fried items on the menu. I assume. 4 stars. read more

Nice, clean, and professional restaurant that serves good food at a good price. The service is courteous and fast, and the food is great. If the LJS ads from the 90s live rent-free in your brain and you find yourself pleasantly surprised at running into one of their few remaining locations in the Austin area, then visit this place more often. read more

It's Long John's, it's fast food, but this location is managed well. I've never been given old tired food and the dining room is always tidy as busy as it gets. I hate having to clean my own seat when I go to other fast-food places, but I never have that problem here. I know I'm gonna get fresh food and prompt service during the week at this location. By the outside it looks like just a regular fast food type of place, but once you're inside it's different. The customer service was great. I ordered two number 12s- two fish and three chicken. I shared with my family of four. The food was really good tasting and pretty good quality too. I haven't been in a while, but I'll definitely come back! I was stranded on Saturday in the area. While waiting for the tow truck, I ventured into Long John Silvers because it had been quite some time since I have indulged. Upon walking in the door, a 2o-something female is sitting at the counter looking right past me while talking to the two "cooks" in the kitchen window. They were fawning over her (white guy with cap on backwards and black guy who was cussing up a storm). They chatted for approximately two minutes when the girl shouted to a "Kevin" that someone was up front (me; and why the hell couldn't she get my order?). She must have been busy talking to her admirers. Anyhow, "Kevin" walks to the front counter, asks how I'm doing, looks to the girl at the front and says,"I'm clocking out, peace". He proceeds to then walk out. I then clear my throat unassumingly as the girl rolls her eyes to the side and continues to chit chat. At minute 4 the line cooks that have had their arms on the kitchen window, head in arms chatting it up with the girl up front whisper about me and they all laugh. I didn't know customers were so funny. Not to be self-absorbed, but I wasn't exhibiting any features or characteristics at the time that would render such attention. After all, I'm an average Joe white male, 6', brown hair...nothing to gawk about, but not the worst either (in my own opinion; I at least have self-confidence). At this moment, I turn to walk out because apparently LJS's in Round Rock is not hurting for money and doesn't need to serve customers. As I'm walking out the door, I distinctly heard a racist remark from one of the guys, but I'm not going to point out "who" said it because I don't want any fingers pointed at me for making this identification. This would only stir the pot publicly. I was in no mood to fight, complain or argue, especially since my car just broke down and the day was already bad enough. I also did not want to cause a ruckus with these individuals if they were to cook my food and had passed these judgements on me when I didn't even utter a word to anyone the entire 5 minutes I stood there looking like a deer in the headlights, waiting for service. In retrospect, I guess I should expect this level of service when going to a fast food establishment. I just wished that, given the bad day I had had, I would have received a little customer service and a shrimp basket (I was craving one when I walked in). Even though I was at the end of a racist remark while standing at the counter for 5 minutes, never being helped or acknowledged, at least I provided some amusement in their lives. Never again will I step foot in that establishment. Just plain embarrassing. If I could give zero stars, I would. A waste of 5 minutes of my life that I will never get back, but at least I shaved off 30 minutes of my life for not eating the food. Get your act together and a sufficient managerial model in place to ensure your employees are not just milking the clock at your expense. I plan on taking this to the franchisee and even corporate. I NEVER have time to blog or yelp, but this pissed me off so bad, I will give my two cents and will make sure everyone knows about this horrible experience. read more

Stopped by the Long John Silver's in Round Rock. It was off 35 and I wanted to have some fish. Turns out that was a mistake!! At this location ! The fish looked like someone trying to make fish for the first time! The chicken so flat and dried out! But wait this is the kicker*** I did not get what I had ordered I ordered the fish, chicken with the 3 shrimp## I received the 2 fish and 1 chicken order!! This was the worst experience that I have ever had a Long John Silver's!!!! I know that during these times it's hard to find good workers but dang was there a supervisor in the picture?? There is a secret order of people keeping LJS in business...I get a craving for their fish and coleslaw every now and then and there's nothing else that will do. This location is always clean, the staff friendly, and the food is fresh and tasty. If you don't like fish, the chicken is pretty good too. This is one of the few locations in Austin area which is still open, and I hope it stays open for a long long time. It may not be the best fish and shrimp, but it is the best for the price you can still get it in these days. I like visiting this place with family and will be very sad if it closes down. The people were very friendly. However they got the order totally wrong. I drove 15 miles one way to get fish, and they even asked if I wanted extra tarter sauce. When I got home I found they had given me all chicken instead. There is no excuse for screwing up a $20 order, especially since I went inside to order it. If I could give it a 4.5 star, I would, only because the building itself sorely needs a refreshing. The exterior is dated and weathered, and the interior is just as bad. That said, however, I have ZERO complaints about the staff, the service or the food itself. I arrived around 11:40AM, before the lunch rush, and was greeted promptly and courteously. My order was taken -- and was correct! -- and the food was piping hot and just as good as it's always been. This is LJS, people; you don't come here expecting healthy food or a fine-dining restaurant complete with piano bar. The food isn't what is considered "healthy"; I'm diabetic and this stuff blows my glucose readings through the roof, because it's all FRIED. But I come here because I like the taste of the food. Additionally, I've received some very nice compliments and flirtatious words when I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, dressed to the nines. This franchise is uneven at best. I have gone in to some franchises, ordered and been so upset with the product that after taking a bite have dumped the whole order and fled. This franchise in Round Rock offers fish and chips at a sale price of $1.99 (normally $2.99) that's a real bargain. We really enjoyed our order and would heartily recommend it. read more

Went here today with some colleagues - doing a construction job nearby and needed a quick place for lunch. It is interesting the LJS chain is still in business when you consider their limited menu. Yes, there are a few "healthy" options, but the large majority of items are fried. How this chain survives is a mystery. I had the chicken plate - it included two strips of chicken, choice of sides, and two hush puppies. Really bad. The chicken was soggy and bland, and the breading was lacking any kind of crispiness. I understand LJS uses more of a "fish and chips" breading, but they could easily make it better with a hint of black pepper, or something. (How do you mess up chicken fingers, seriously? I have had gas station chicken that was heads above this...) I don't know if LJS breads their fish and chicken in house, or if it arrives to the store frozen. I imagine it is the latter. The fries were undercooked, flavorless, and soggy as well. I tried to rescue them with ketchup and vinegar, and even tarter sauce. Still really bad. The hush puppies were top notch though. I don't know what demo this place caters to. I noticed most of the patrons were silver-haired. Perhaps, this is their target - I don't know. Should have known better. My husband and I drove from Leander to Round Rock to go to this Long John Silver's to get Seafood. We don't have one close to our area, so this one is the closest. We were really looking forward to a nice meal. We walk into this restaurant and we are hit with the nastiest smell of stinky socks and wet shoes. They had just mopped the floors I guess but I'm not sure what with. But, we go ahead and place our order because we had made the trip over to get this food. Once we order, we go sit down at a booth. I look around while my husband is getting some condiments for our meal. This is the most disgusting Booth ever! The walls and the boarding around it is filled with Gunk and dirt, the table is so sticky and when I sat down my butt was met with a wet substance that went through my jeans! I just thought it was this table so we went to a different table and had to move three times before we found a table that wasn't so bad, but it still had a dirty film on it that we cleaned off. We received our food and immediately flies where are surrounding us. The food was mediocre at best. The hushpuppies were Bland and had no flavor, the coleslaw had so much vinegar I couldn't even eat it and we received a free fried Twinkie that was so disgusting it was an edible also.
