It was the funniest thing. But I was still able to get a seat at the counter, and what a joy that was. I wished I knew the guy's name and the names of the gentlemen behind him delivering the food. Home Kitchen is a great place to enjoy a brunch that has a great selection of pancakes, healthy options and classic breakfast with a chef twist. The pancakes are fluffy and the eggs are always done correctly. Although the food is quite delicious the service needs work. A manager seated at the food counter would solve some server errors. For example, "no arugula" was missed, no syrup was given for the pancakes, no water for the table, no water was offered, and a side of avocado was forgotten. These are server issues and maybe the cook didn't read the ticket correctly. This will not stop me from returning, but if they would like to increase the star rating, this needs to be corrected quickly. My friend ordered the turkey club and I ordered a patty melt. Turkey club had generous portions to have brunch and dinner or share with another person. It was very tasty and had great flavor to it. TW: if you've don't like horseradish, don't order the patty melt. The horseradish on the patty melt was over powering that I couldn't taste the patty melt. The service could have used improvement, our first greeter at the table was a young waitress whose attitude gave "IDGAF" and was downright unpleasant while taking our coffee order. This skillet was based on a huge pile of red skinned potatoes and they just weren't crisp. In fact it seemed like they were just boiled potatoes. This was a let down. I also tried a side of corned beef hash. The corned beef I believe was canned corned beef, the potatoes were certainly better than the skillet but mainly because they had been better incorporated and cooked longer. My wife chose some gluten free pancakes and she said they were good. We are always appreciative of good gluten free options and this was part of the saving grace for the meal. Overall, the food was ok, but the price you pay for breakfast here just doesn't make it a good value. The place was packed though and it seems people are perfectly happy. The other weird thing is that it says on the menu that it's served with fries. Well these were not fries. And the potatoes they did serve...our table unanimously judged it to be the least favorite thing on the plates. They are somewhere between hashbrowns, mashed potatoes, and fries and they just weren't very good. I ordered an Eggs Benedict platter called "Southwest Eggs Benedict". Two large poached eggs sat on top of bacon, sliced tomato, sliced avacado and a half English Muffin (whole muffin for both eggs). All was covered with Hollindaise sauce. On the side were home fries. I also had a cup of black coffee. I enjoyed the several flavors of the Benedict and with the home fries it was plenty of food. The coffee was good as well. They were packed so the service was a little slow, but still not too bad. I think in a few more weeks things will be running super smooth. Another great example of an all American traditional breakfast. You can't go wrong with your standard eggs, bacon, toast, or potatoes but what can be done is elevated bacon, toast, and potatoes. I love how the English muffin was toasted so what gives a crunch factor and I would say the letdown would be how the egg wasn't runny. You know when I cut into a runny egg I'm expecting it to be cut runny but it wasn't so I took a picture of it and you could see it definitely 20 to 30 seconds longer than it should've been cooked but overall I love this meal, the crispy, crunchy bacon I mean, you can't ask for thick thick T thick bacon their bacon game is amazing. The trick with the mashed potatoes is you gotta ask for extra crispy so I had potatoes standard versus extra crispy and you gotta go extra crispy. This restaurant reminds me of snooze a.m. Which one's better? In my opinion they're both great. I moved to the Austin area from Boston and one of the things I've missed from the northeast is great breakfast place. Not to mention, one that served breakfast all day. But as of two months ago, we have one! Home Kitchen just opened and it's AMAZING. There's so much right going on here to let's take it in pieces. The Menu: Pictures are attached but they have everything from what you'd think of as breakfast staples AND some amazing new choices too!
