I wasn't going to leave a review, but, you can't call a location to complain. All numbers seem to go to a central location. That's the explanation that I was given. So, I my order was accurate, except for 1 side. I ordered fried okra, but, was given green beans. On a previous visit, I sat in the to-go section for about 10 minutes. 5 crew members are up front. 2 were actually working. The rest were just yapping. I won't be returning. Our last night in town. Thought we would go to a local place. Grandson 5 always likes spaghetti but would not eat it. I got the chicken fried steak, it look huge but later found it over battered with no meat in those areas so it appeared bigger then it was. I did eat it. Fries were warm and over cooked. The fried okra was not fresh. My daughters soup was very very good and she is a culinary graduate. The waitress was a rockstar. She was helpful and reponsive. My wife got tex mex salad and was okay, mom enjoyed her chicken fried chicken and the rice broccoli was very good. My mom and daughter live in town so we will be back to visit. Went to the Cotton Patch for the first time. Went in at 7:00 pm on a Sunday. Had the catfish platter and a burger plate. Appetizers were spinach dip and onion rings. The spinach dip was good. Not nearly enough chips though. Really skimpy. The onion rings were really good. Really good, some of the best I've ever had. The burger was OK, no complaints. The catfish was bland, the tarter sauce was bland. The Mac and cheese was bland and dry. Overall the food was OK. Not good enough to go back there and eat again though. We go to the Round Rock location at least twice a month. Last time we were there, we were told they no longer served the cornbread muffins with the rolls. The waiter told us to complain to the corporate office. I did that and was given a 21% coupon for our next visit. We went today and gave the waitress our coupon. The General Manager came by and asked "are you serious"? We asked why. He said it would affect his bottom line. We explained that we got it by commenting about the cornbread muffins. He then mentioned the skillet cornbread ($1.99) but it has jalapenos in it. The previous ones were plain. We were basically being shamed for using a coupon. This was disappointing. I ordered the fish tacos and I couldn't even eat them they were so gross. The menu says they use slaw (cabbage) and they threw salad mix (Romain lettuce with carrots) in it. I took my parents (from Ca) here over Christmas break. We ordered a variety of dishes and everybody loved what we received. I started with the chicken fried bacon which I will describe as a mix of state fair meets southern hospitality. Absolutely the worst experience we have EVER had. Placed a to go order. We waited 1 and 1/2 hours and was finally brought and order. We ordered 4 meals and there was one in the bag and it was not anything we ordered. I went it to take it back and get the correct order. Waited another 15 minutes and still no food. Finally ask for a refund and was told they would give me one. Waitied another 10 minutes and instead of giving me a refund said the order was ready. I checked the order and was well short one meal and two drinks and a dessert. I waited another 10 minutes and finally gave up and left. We paid for food we didn't get after waiting over 2 hours. I have been to this location many times and overall have been pleased, you just need to know what to expect. The service has always been great with short wait times. The place is clean and quite cozy with a bit of a small town feel. The chicken fried steak is good, burgers are great, rice broccoli side dish is awesome! They used to have the best cheese sticks around but sad to say took them off the menu, we won't be going back till they bring them back! When they get it right the food is spot but that's not always the case. I have sent back queso for being gritty "bottom of burnt pot bad" chicken and dumpling soup for being ice cold. The consistency is not the best. If your looking for a decent meal at a great price this is your spot. If your looking to be blown away with amazing cafe food I'd look elsewhere. The final straw tonight. Food was 35 minutes late, wrong and cold. We had called 15 minutes past the time and was given the "on the way". I called back and the manager could give two F*cks about our food. All we got was "Rico handles the refunds". No sorry, what can I do to make this up etc. I'll let ya know if we get a refund. We've eaten at the San Angelo location many times. The food is always great except sometimes the chicken fried steak is tough as a boot. I realize that round steak is a crap shoot for tenderness, but they have the best crust in town for the chicken fry and the chicken fried chicken. Was greeted at the front door right away. Given that it was a Monday there was no wait and got seated right away. The waitress was very friendly and attentive to our table, she was training a new person but didn't affect our service whatsoever. Food was served at the right temperature and the portions were just the right amount. We were offered dessert but were to full to take one on. We didn't get rolls or plastic ware and get home and had chicken fried chicken when we ordered 2 pork chop dinners and a salad, I reached out to the manager at this location twice with no response. I don't eat chicken fried chicken but when they heated the broccoli they put it in the container with the plastic bag they heated it in which was overheated and mushy. First, I want to say it kills me to write this because this place has been my go-to place for comfort food for several years. But last night, my family went for dine in about 630 and it was obvious they were severely understaffed. Unfortunately, it was our server's first day. The poor girl had no idea how to do her job. It took 15 to as our drink order, another 15 to get the three teas, and 10 more to wait for straws. I finally got up to ask for straws and she told me they were out of straws. I went to the takeout area and got three straws. We ordered our food and 30 minutes later, every order was wrong. One was chicken fried steak, gravy on the side. It had gravy on it. One was a quesadilla with side salad, bot no salad. The third was another chicken fried steak with baked potato no sour cream. All three were wrong and ice cold. I asked the poor server what happened and she said she didn't know how to put the non-standard order into the register. And then she said its my first day. I asked for the manager and he finally came over and I told him all our issues and he just stood there with a blank look on his face and then said 'it's her first day - some people get it and some people don't." She had no shadow trainer, no help, nothing. She obviously wasn't trained so it was pretty clear who did't "get it." He said he'd adjust our bill, which I never brought up, so that was nice, but he missed the point. I doubt we will go back. If we do it will be far in the future. I get eateries are struggling with staffing. Maybe some should just close for a few weeks to hire and properly train the people rather than have customers go through experiences like last night and lose them for good.
