Well lookie here, my wife has decided we are now part of the old generation, yep she's right! We have been going to Cotton Patch for dinners on Monday nights early like 5pm or so and we see a lot of older couples eating as well. She likes it because the chicken fired port chops, chicken or steak is just 6.99 and that includes 2 sides. Well shiver my timbers it is official! We both get chicken fried chicken with sides of broccoli casserole and green beans or corn and she likes the okra, We both love the mini bread loafs with butter, yum! I also like the devils food coke chocolate cake with ice cream it is great, as the Tiger would say! When we get there early we get in and out quick my wife likes that. Went there with my husband on a Sunday evening. For starters we had chips with salsa and queso. Loved the sauces! Handmade and very nice taste. I then had the chicken fried steak with fried okra and fresh Brokkoli, he had chicken tenders with squash and mushrooms. The food was really good. The waitress was very nice. I suppose they want the perceptions to look like they are responding to our concerns but all they did was reply "our cafe Leader team is reviewing". The literal definition of "Comfort Food". Prices were on point (My plate was under $9, wife was under $11), service was attentive and best of all the food was 10/10. My Plate: Meatloaf - A very new take on my classic favorite. It had a tomato sauce with some bell peppers instead of ketchup and while different and not what I was expecting it really surprised me. The meat was tender and juicy and not dried out or overcooked at all. Sides: Mashed Potatoes (with red skin still on in places), White Gravy (thick and not at all watery), Mac n Cheese (very creamy, thick pasta macaroni). Wife Plate: Chicken Fried Chicken - My wife has a "test" for all chicken fried chickens she has (when I cut it with a knife and fork, will the breading fall off and all over the place) and this one passed the test beautifully. Not to mention the breading itself was probably some of the best CFC breading I've ever tasted. Chicken itself was thick and juicy, the breading to chicken ratio was great. Topped with more of the great White Gravy it was a perfect CFC. Sides: Mashed Potatoes (see above) and Corn (this tasted perfectly of fresh off the cob corn). Desert: Apple Crisp - Large Apple slices mixed with Oats, Strudel, caramel and even a nice little surprise of Pecans. Topped with a vanilla scoop that wasn't too hard and yet also didn't instantly become water. Strudel was served a perfect "warm" so we were able to eat immediately without burning our taste buds off and lucky that because this desert was just the perfect top to a perfect meal. We stopped going to Cracker Barrel a few years back due to inconsistent food/service and this has filled that Southern Cooking void in our little foodie hearts. read more

I've heard a lot of good things s about the food at Cotton patch café, so I thought I'd gIve it a try. Definitely not much for atmosphere on the inside, but it was clean and the service was good. However, I was a little disappointed with the food, it wasn't exactly what I had anticipated. I got the country fried steak with mashed potatoes, The mashed potatoes were just lukewarm, The country fried steak was good but just average nothing amazing, but the okra was really good. Had carry out for Sat and Sun, 24/25 Jun. Tried 4 different meals and all of them were very nice. From the baked chicken over rice to pork chop with apple cinnamon to chicken fried chicken to chicken and pasta - all were tasty and carefully done. The staff was friendly and professional. Sat was a light crowd but Sun was indeed much busier so be prepared to wait a few mins extra. The service/food was well worth it though. Would definitely recommend any day of the week. So, I called THREE times to place a to go order and waited only to be disconnected every time. Since I knew I was definitely going to be ordering there, I went directly to the restaurant to place my order. I ended up sitting at the bar for almost a half hour before someone finally asked me if I had been helped (I had not!). The man sitting at the other end of the bar was handed his salad to start and had that taken away and was given his meal which he almost completed before I was asked if I was being helped. It was that bad. Finally I was able to place my order and I walked out to go grab something I needed at a nearby store and drove back only to find out that after all that time, they still had not completed my order. I ordered three salads! Beyond things not being prepared in a timely manner, it cost $50 for three salads!!! $50 for SALADS!!!! Whatever, I paid and finally got my food and left to drive home to my family. When I got home I had my daughter put our salads out while I got changed. I came out to find none of us got any dressings for our salads and the salmon Caesar salads were literally boxes of lettuce with a piece of fish. No croutons, no cheese, no dressing. Just a box of lettuce and a piece of fish. So I tried calling the restaurant to rectify the situation. Again I at waiting for someone to answer while the phone rang off the hook until I was disconnected. So I jumped in my car and drove back to the restaurant while I sat on the phone waiting for someone to answer while it rang off the hook again. Finally someone answered and I told her that I didn't get any dressing for my salads and I just got boxes of lettuce and fish. The woman who answered said, "oh you were just here. The dressing is ON the salad! We don't put it on the side!" I assured her that there was no dressing on them. She immediately said, "well then you're just going to have to talk to the manager!" and immediately put me on hold rather than waiting to let me speak and say, "why don't you just get me some dressing instead of getting your manager!" I was at the restaurant at this point and I walked in to personally speak to the manager. She was actually very pleasant and helpful. She got me my dressings and apologized. Unfortunately I had some words for her about the service I received which I apologized for and said to her that she was very helpful and I was sorry if it seemed I was taking things out on her but the employee (whom I pointed out to her) was obviously in the weeds and 100% took it out on me when I received horrendous service. Like when I walked in and she tried to give me someone else's order because we had the same first name even after I told her it wasn't mine. "Yes it is. It says Elizabeth right here!" The other employee had to tell her to stop because I ordered something else. All in all $50 for salad that was literally just a $2 head of romaine n a piece of fish was horrible enough but that employee made me never want to go there again. my mother ordered a strawberry pecan salad with grilled chicken. Although hers was 100% better than mine and my daughters, she didn't even get a full piece of chicken. Just some tiny bits. 100% not worth the $48 I paid for these three salads. You being weeded is not my fault! Get a grip and do your job properly and I won't have to call/come back. N learn how to answer your damn phones! read more

BURGER REVIEW: So, I went again last night.. Round Rock location, To Go order. Ordering was seamless, and the time was prefect! But, I got something off my usual, and although the quality of the food taste was great, appearance and amount was good.. the burger patty itself, was just that.. a burger patty. :( I wanted to try someone ELSEs Blue Cheeseburger, because Moonies in PVille cooks them too dry & wont cook under well done.. Went out to try a new place, and all it did was reinforce why I dont do that. Walked in ordered drinks, and appetizer,they arrived 35 minutes after and . ( mozzarella sticks texas sized) they came 10 minutes after the drinks. Waitress spilled water on my friend so we asked for a towel. It took 10 minutes for that. The marinara was tomato sauce and not even ragu. Total number of people eating in the restaurant was under 20. Food took an hour to come out. Not sure what has happened here, but tonight was really not good. We waited 45 minutes for our food. They were out of blue cheese dressing. Which didnt really matter because my son didn't get his salad until we asked where it was. He got the salad midway through his meal. Food tasted fine, but the rolls were dry and flavorless. Had to ask for ketchup and drink refills. We were at the restaurant for an hour and a half and had to flag someone down to pay our bill. The bill was not itemized. Just gave the total, and frankly we figured there could have been mistakes, but at this point we just wanted to go. Looks like management needs to figure out what has gone wrong here and get it fixed ASAP. read more

Horrible Customer Service My parents visited on Tues. July 7, 2018 between 5 - 7pm, they were seated- but, no one came to take their orders. They waited a total of 15-20 mins.- during that time, two (2) other large families had been seated and immediately waited on. The young lady who seated them finally questioned whether anyone had come to assist them- to which they replied, no!! She had taken their drink orders- but, never returned, afterwards. Cotton Patch WAS one of my parents favorite dining spots- but, no longer will be after this experience. Placed my order for soups at 6:15 pm. My wife waited out side until 7:10 and still didn't bring out the soups. I called and talked to the manager and she didn't understand why it wasn't out yet cuz the soups are already made.she said that she was making it right away. If you want good home cooking and great service, this is your spot! We've been here a few times and haven't been disappointed. Most recently we gathered a small group to celebrate a family birthday. I called ahead to make a reservation, and even though they don't take them the server I spoke with left a note with the hostess so she was ready for us when we walked in. The chef even came out during the meal and greeted the birthday boy personally! One of their best dishes is the chicken fried steak - it comes just as it should, smothered in cream gravy! They have several sides to choose from, all delicious. For those of us eating on the lighter side, they also have several healthy dishes. I selected the tilapia, and when I asked my server about substitutions because I didn't want the rice, she didn't skip a beat in recommending a comparable option that came with a small salad and "skinny veggies" (about a cup of steamed broccoli, squash and carrots). We called them to let them know they were the only two out of our party of 4 that had the Mac & Cheese- that was the only common thing they both had. Not good at all. I door dashed my order, and I was super excited about trying a new place. I ordered the fried shrimp with hush puppies, fries, and sides of Mac and cheese and garlic mash potatoes. The food looked appetizing when I opened the box, BUT the fries were soggy, the shrimp wasn't crispy, the hush puppies tasted burnt, and the macaroni wasn't fully cooked. The Mac and cheese actually tasted sour. The box actually had two holes in it in which one of the shrimp is covering. Not everything is as it seems. Well Cotton Patch definitely has the capacity to deliver a quality home cooked meal but when it comes to delivery all bets are off. Like with just about any restaurant you're going to have to accept the occasional mistake or how quickly the quality of the food degrades with just the time it takes to get it from point A to point B. Case in point, missing ingredients, and a complete missing entree. I would only encourage businesses to take greater care that orders are complete and meet the high standards they are known for. Thankful that DoorDash issued a credit but I still didn't get to enjoy a tasty meal in a timely manner. read more

I placed an order today excited for this food. My order was close to 30 minutes after my order was supposed to be ready. They forgot the salad in the order which they thankfully refunded. The customer service was lacking and everyone around me seemed frustrated. I saw one order bag sitting on a bench inside for a door dash driver. There was one waiting longer than me and they picked that bag up and gave it to him after it sitting there for a half hour. It seemed so unorganized and the food was just okay and thrown together. This place was terrible. The food alone was very average and the service was awful. The wait staff in general is very young and not well trained. We asked for a additional items like sides of ranch and gravy and our waiter disappeared for about 30 minutes before AND after the food was delivered to the table. Go to Threadgills and experience actual good southern home cooking, and save your self the pain. read more

I'd hoped to write a little better review. I like the food a lot, the menu variety and choices, and the location. I have had, howver, an issue with each of my several takeout orders, including missing entrees. To their credit, they did not charge me when they replaced the missing entrees, which is really stepping up. I imagine they'll get better with practice. Watch your to-go orders very closely for accuracy. But again - I really like the food, the choices and options (for instance, they'll make your chicken fingers using the Shiner Bock batter they use for the fish & chips), and attentive if sometimes slightly awkward service. I'll keep going back, but have to be mindful and patient with takeout orders. I love the mistake on the little tent cards promoting their beer & wine: they show Shiner Bock under "Imported."
