A cool restaurant/bar on the west side of Round Rock. It is located between service road of 620 and Chisholm Heritage Trail. Inside it has several sketches of musicians. They play pop music videos as well as Country Western and Latin music. The staff are friendly and fun to talk with. Today I met Junior the bartender and Marcos the owner. I got a plate of chips and salsa with a water shortly after taking a seat. The menu comes as a physical menu as well as virtual (QR Code). I ordered the Latin Burger which consisted of an angus beef patty, served on a bed of melted cheese, accompanied by caramelized onions, bacon, tomato and lettuce. It is super juicy since the meat is bought fresh from a butcher in Georgetown. It comes with French fries too. I also had a Love Street Draft Beer. It looks the server was new but he did give recommendations. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great pairing suggestions. Dishes came out at a good pace, and drinks were refreshed quickly. You could tell the staff was proud of the food they were serving, which made the whole experience even better. Staff were very friendly, and the decor was fun and unusual. We got there the last half hour before a live band finished their set, and the place was pretty busy. It did empty out once the band finished playing. My friend got a drink served in a glass skull. I forgot the name, but it was bourbon based and tasted a lot like an Old Fashioned. I ordered the Mangonada. It was very interesting: sweet, tangy, spicy, and a little salty. They serve food as well, but we weren't hungry so didn't sample any of that. They have plenty of parking, and the place definitely has that local bar comfortable feel. I'll go again when they have another event. read more

I was browsing online for a location with a chill unique vibe and found this place. It has interesting art pieces with homage to various artists. We visited for the first time today and decided to split the Picatta Mixta for 2. It offered a nice variety and was all delicious! The chicharrones were crispy and savory. Yuca wedges were crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside, and the texture and mild taste was a nice contrast paired with the meats: beef and chicken fajitas as well as chicharrones. By the way, the chicken had a fresh-grilled taste. The beef was tender and tasty too! The dish also came with tostones and arepas that I recommend eating with the garlic cilantro dipping sauce. The slaw and guacamole are also nice additions to anything on the platter. The bartender is friendly and helpful. There's a good variety of mixed drinks and other beverages. I enjoyed the Dragon cocktail, a sweet and sour drink with a bit of spice. Their old fashioned is good, too. I am eager to return and try more of the menu. read more

The issue with this place, and the owner, is what he did to the local people using parking spaces by the park there right along the river. These are local people who have been using the parking at least over 20 years who want to walk and enjoy the river. Folks who live or work in the area. I'm not surprised it's closed. There have never been any signs saying people can't park in the area nor is the points parking spaces clearly marked. A hidden sign - behind some brush - was put up and peoples vehicles started getting towed. I don't know how Many cars but a whole lot. And a whole lot of local folks who may have considered this place if it re-opens but won't now. They even towed a handicapped car. An older gentleman who couldn't make it to his car quickly enough to stop them. He had no money on him and no cell phone leaving him stranded but for the grace of strangers. Any owner of a local food place does this to what would be his key clientele, does not deserve the clientele. Glad the place is closed and hope it stays that way. Oh yeah. Who tows people in parking spaces not in use because your restaurant is shut? Asshat. Do not ever go here. By the way. The next day? There was a cop car sitting in the parking area assuming to stop further towing. The parks and recreation dept received many complaints and they were shocked with his actions. read more

I think this place could've been good at one point in time. While the menu looks promising, the execution fell short. I had the fish tacos and queso. The fish was still cold (not freshly fried - it tasted like it was fried then placed in a warmer), and the sauce on the tacos had mustard in it. The tortillas were also lukewarm, even though it wasn't busy. Our queso came to the table chunky (it had green onion and other various vegetables in it?) and congealed. The photo in the menu made it look like actual melted cheese but what we got resembled the kind you get from a jar at the grocery store with chopped veggies in it. We really liked the chips, though. Our server was kind and engaging and I really felt for him since he was the only person running around and making sure everyone was taken care of. The Point did not disapPoint (lol). The food was great and exactly what I was craving - a mix of Latino food that with some of my favorite dishes on the menu. I had the cachapa and it was incredible--super cheesy, generously portioned, and so flavorful. The Venezuelan-style empanadas were also amazing, perfectly fried and packed with flavor. You can really tell the food is made with care. There is also an outdoor patio with toys for kids - this place is great for crowds and is kid-friendly during daytime hours as well. But honestly, the best part of The Point ATX isn't just the food--it's the energy. The events and the people are what make this place special. I went on a Friday night and again on a Saturday. Friday was karaoke night, and it was so much fun--tons of people participating and super enthusiastic energy. The prize was $200, which added to the hype, but even without it, people were just there to have a good time. Saturday was all about dancing--I stayed on the dance floor until they closed. People were so incredibly friendly. If you want to dance salsa, merengue, bachata with an unpretentious crowd that's just there to have fun, you want to come to The Point. This place is such a vibe. Very upset that we were the only 2 people inside at the bar &Food took 15mins and we only ordered one BLT burger got a whole different burger that we just could not eat we asked for the check cause we had a movie to catch, then the guy server/bartender seemed very sorry that we didn't want them to remake it but asked us if he could make us a quick shot which we denied but still managed to charge us for the burger!! It was ok. Their website and yelp says they are open until 10pm on Sunday. We were told at 8:30pm they closed at 9pm and the server wanted us to close our tab. We asked for drafts and got bottles. went to go watch mexico vs venezuela, place was pretty packed. chairs were super uncomfortable though. took 45 minutes to deliver some wings, and there were no fries even though i asked the server if they came with fries. the wings themselves were good, but about 10 of them were super small. there were only about 2 regular sized wings. the ranch was sour and chunky too. i ordered a dessert that was a brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it took 40+ mins to be given to me. it was good though, but definitely not worth all that hassle. server was nice though. read more
