I've been to many Cotton Patch restaurants, this was the worst. Service was horrid, filling up a water for one but not the person beside them, asking for refills multiple times. Food was bland, chicken fried chicken was vivid of seasoning, chicken and dumplings had 2 dumplings and very little chicken. Unfortunately this made the never return to again list. read more

I frequent this location and always enjoy the food. The service was okay. However, I was shocked when the server handed my husband the handheld device to pay the bill, she put in a 20% tip for herself and gave herself a 5-star rating. Overall, our recent experience was a mediocre experience at best. We had eaten here in the past (over a year ago) and it was much better. The teenage waiter was obviously new, but that's ok. I assume he will learn how to better wait on tables given time and training. We had to flag him down to get an order correction and for drink refills. We were his only table, so it's not that he was swamped. We got there a little before the expected Saturday night rush (the restaurant was 80% empty) and the dining room needed to be cleaned. The floors were dirty and several tables needed to be bussed. The biggest disappointment was the food. I ordered a chipotle-maple glazed chicken breast; what I got was a salt and pepper grilled chicken with no glaze. I asked the waiter to confirm this was the chipotle-maple chicken and he said it was. But it had neither a chipotle or maple flavor and no glaze of any kind. So we flagged down the waiter and asked for some of the glaze that the cook obviously never put on the chicken. What we got was a sauce that tasted sweet, but had no maple flavor with perhaps a questionable chipotle undertone. Food was ready, called three times -- no one picked up the first time, called again with someone picking up but no one came out with my food and a third time 5 mins later with no one responding. I didn't bring my mask because it was supposed to be a quick curbside pickup but the inept staff at this location made me go into the restaurant. If you can't provide curbside service, REMOVE THAT SERVICE FROM YOUR WEBSITE, APP AND PHONE-IN ORDERS. I will never go back to Cotton Patch. I'm a food delivery person part time. This past Saturday evening I was finishing up for the day and hoped to get 2 more connected orders so that I could get home at a previously agreed upon time with my kids for a task. Around 7pm I get a ping of a joined order with Cotton Patch and another food business that was estimated to pay in excess of $18 and take around 30-35 minutes. I got inside and right away I was told it would take at least 15 minutes to get to me. No reason why. There were other delivery drivers and online order ers waiting at the bar which is 15 or so feet away and provided a full unobstructed view and of the staff Which included the manager. I then texted the recipient of the Cotton Patch order and relayed what I was told. That 15 minutes came and went by with no result. Some of the people waiting at the bar had their orders filled. Others walked in and picked up orders after me! The manager was standing within the staff of workers and made NO attempt to look my way, explain the ineptitude of the staff or even offer a complimentary cup of water/drink for the long wait. I was told twice again by the same employee that originally said 15 minutes that they are sorry but they are behind. She did that on her own as I saw the entire movements of the crew and the manager did not instruct her to inform me of anything. On the 3rd time the employee informed me, I told her that this order was connected to another order and I would be massively late. Blank stare. Finally I contacted the customer service of the delivery service and asked them to cancel the order. By this time 35+ minutes had went by and I knew I would be late for the time with my kids that was already planned. A horrible ending to an otherwise productive day doing deliveries. I missed out on the important family time that was planned and I also missed out on $18+ dollars that would've helped out that days budget. I don't recommend going to McKinney Cotton Patch because this indifference explained here is part of their range of outcomes that's seemingly approved by upper management! read more

What I like about Cotton Patch is that no matter which restaurant you are in you know you are going to get your food prepared the same as the last time you got it and it is going to be good food for a reasonable price. Both my mother and my daughter are addicted to Chicken and Dumplings. I don't think either of them have ever, in the past 6 years we have lived in Texas, have tried anything else. Today I had the blackened tilapia lunch with rice and salad. It was really good. I am trying to eat more fish and this went down real easy. I must have misread the menu because for my 2nd side (other than the salad) I asked for baked potato. When I saw the rice and potato on the plate I knew that was going to be too much food so I just boxed the potato up for later. What is also great is the price, 2 people without drinks and the bill was $17 before tip. Pretty hard to feed two people a nice healthy (if you don't count the chicken and dumplings) meal for under $20. read more

Service was terrible. We walked in and we're seated immediately but took waiter 10 minutes to just take our drink order. We weren't offered bread like the other tables were, we waited for our food for more than 30 minutes and had to ask for our check when we left. Floors were SO DIRTY and nobody was bussing the dirty tables. They'd sit you next to them but never actually clean them. A lot of unhappy people near us with the same problem. Problem was that there wasn't many people in the restaurant for this slow service. There were plenty of waiters/waitresses for them to do a better job. I'd never been to a Cotton Patch Cafe....not sure why? Was a suggestion from the girlfriend, so we went for lunch. Got there around 2 pm, fairly busy for a holiday Monday. She ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and a Coke. I ordered the Baja Fish Tacos and a Sweet Tea. It's rare I give a 5 star for a first visit, but CPC definitely earned it. Service level matched the food by our server. So much food that I just had the rest of the tacos (was 3 of them) for lunch today, still yummy! She enjoyed her meal just as much. Love those fresh rolls to start too! Parking can be tight here when they are busy. Look forward to our next visit!! read more

So they took back brought me fresh after a long while then we get a bill with a 1.50 charge because they "saving" us money by not getting menus and we using QR code what QR code our table didn't even have no I say BS!!! Manager came gave us a sob story went and got sign off another table trashy!!!! The foos other than soggy okra was great but I'm just bothered that they try to sneak charges on your bill you try to go to a restaurant to support them in this pandemic then they try to add extra charges !!! We went into this restaurant a couple of weeks ago and we were seated, At least 15 min go by and no one ever took our drink order or even said we will be right with you. So, we get up and leave. Then, tonight we are like, let's try again, we are thinking we won't have a problem at all since there are only about three tables being occupied. My boyfriend goes into the restroom and when he walks out I'm still standing waiting for someone to even acknowledge us. Long story short...we walk out, yet again. So much for second chances. Have been eating here since they opened. Stopped during COVID and decided to go back to some of our old favorites. Been twice in the last 3 weeks with guests. First time both food and service were awful. This last time had to wait to be seated for 25 minutes. 1/3 of tables were occupied. 1/3 were needing busing. 1/3 were ready for customers. 1 couple ahead if us in line. We were not even acknowledged by receptionist. Looked like 5 front of house present and 3 back of house. Most staff were standing around. One seated service was very slow both times. Food this last time was mediocre at best. Hamburger ordered medium was more like medium raw. Chicken fried steak over cooked. Way to many other options in the area to deal with this garbage. Also. This has been the worst experience I've ever had at Cotton Patch. This was mine and my husbands first time at this location. We were seated immediately but we didn't get a waiter/waitress until fifteen minutes after we were seated. The fact that the bartender had to come over and ask if anyone had even served us yet is sad. She got us our drinks, it took her awhile to get us refills due to the fact that she was doing someone else's JOB, she got us our food and check. Came in to enjoy what was supposed to be an All you can eat Catfish special and to my dismay it was all you can eat Swai fish! Shame on you Cotton Patch and all these other restaurants out here posing Swai as Catfish!! I think Swai is disgusting and it was just that mushy, wet with that off bleachy taste! Trying to help out the local food service workers during this trying time. Ordered lunch for the family on Sunday. 20 minutes later I called when I arrived. They said they would be right out. Called 12 minutes later and he said "oh, aaaaa yeah, it just came up." When actuality, he forgot and started helping others. Then he brings it out without using any gloves. Took my credit card, charged it and brought it back out. Got it home and my salmon salad was horrible. My salmon was sushi grade/raw. I had to heat up the oven and cook it for another 15 minutes to make it edible. Luckily it wasn't my wife's or she would have flipped out. The rest of the family's food was pretty average as well. We understand this is a crazy time, but we can't afford to support establishments that give below average food and service. We hope you make it Cotton Patch. Menu came with sauce or tea on or whatever on it and we sat for approximately 12 min without anyone asking for our drink order. There were at least 4 tables who had come in after us (just my wife and i) that we're being served as we were evidently invisible. They didn't even notice us leaving. Wow. I don't even know where to start. We just had quite possibly one of the worst experiences ordering take out EVER. For starters, We live 10 min away. My husband left the house at 5:40 and did not get back home with food until almost 7:30! Mind you, we placed the order before he even left the house. He waited for over 30 min for them to bring the order out and over half of it was wrong. He brought it in and explained what needed to be corrected. They bring it back out some minutes later saying they fixed it. Literally the same exact thing was brought back out. He brought it back in again. Came back wrong AGAIN. This keeps happening (5 times total). He finally feels like he gets everything we ordered and when we get home... you guessed it. Still WRONG (and all completely cold and not edible by the way). Not one person offered to reimburse our purchase nor was he given anything to compensate for the terrible service we received. Every time we come, I expect different results. The food is typically par, however the dining area is always poorly managed and in shambles. The floor is dirty, tables remain unbussed for the duration of your stay (leaving you to wonder how many hours they have been left that way) and one particular manager stands behind the bar and doesn't chip in. We've waited 15 minutes to be sat all the while her standing at the bar not giving direction or helping her staff. I wanted to try a new place and so I used DoorDash to order food from Cotton patch Café they forgot one of my entrées the DoorDash person said to call the restaurant I had to call the restaurant three times for somebody to help me I told him that one of my orders was missing and they just said that they were busy and were getting a lot of orders wrong and they were sorry. I asked for my money back they said you have to go through DoorDash they also said that if I wanted my food that I can come down and pick it up. Cedar Hill, which is my hometown, had one and I have fond memories of the delicious food and times spent with family there. Fast forward to today. The husband and I stopped in for lunch at 12:30. I was slightly surprised at how empty the restaurant was. Once seated a young lady walked by and said she'd return for our drink orders. By the time she made it back we were ready to order. He ordered the catfish basket, I ordered the grilled Cajun duo (tilapia and shrimp). She offered rolls to which I asked for the corn muffins. "They're out", I'm informed. Umm, okay, height of lunchtime and you're out of them? Not cool! She offered the skillet cornbread but, I declined. (Not trying to pay extra for that when muffins should've been available). We finally got our drinks and were having a good laugh when our waitress stopped by to ask if we needed anything, our food would've been great at this point seeing as we had been there about twenty mins. We waited some more and I swear I saw a table that was seated after us get their food. The waitress came by again and my husband asked if they had to kill the fish, she said they're bringing it out right now. We waited another ten minutes and left. I'm by no means a gourmet cook but I can get fish on the table in less than thirty minutes! I could've literally copied my review of the Greenville location from two years ago for this location! I am about 96% sure I'm done with giving any location any more of my time.
