**BOGO COUPON IS A JOKE** It had been YEARS since we last ate at Spring Creek BBQ, swore we'd never go back, but a BOGO rib deal encouraged us to try them again. The coupon was clearly made to boost those slow nights (valid only Sunday through Thursday). No problem, we went on a Tuesday night. The ribs were room-temperature, the sides tasted like they had been there since lunch, and the beans were not cooked (firm in the middle). We also remembered those hot, fresh yummy rolls they're known for, but apparently those are only served over the weekend because they were nowhere to be found on an off night. If this promo was supposed to bring in new customers and convince them to come back, it did the exact opposite. Great idea in theory... terrible execution, again. read more

It's been a while since we last ate here -- mostly because it was a somewhat forgettable experience. But this time it was a pleasure. The ribs were beautifully trimmed, sides more flavorful, and service was excellent. A young, enthusiastic team of employees were welcoming and efficient -- and happy to work there. Stopped in on Sunday evening. Greeted by Matthew. Everyone on line was extremely friendly and helpful. Jacob at the register was very courteous. We no sooner sat down and Autumn came around with fresh, hot rolls. The food was excellent. Potato Salad was cold and beans were piping hot!!! When I ask for carry out container , Samuel was there to assist me Unfortunately, I did not get every employees name, but our dine- in experience was excellent. We don't normally order from Spring Creek because it's expensive. But for Memorial Day we decided to splurge and get some really good bbq. Our ribs were under cooked chewy and you could not chew it enough to swallow. The meat just turned into a wad of indigestible meat. Gross you had to pull it out of your mouth. Then they threw one rib that was overcooked it was like jerky on a bone. We couldn't eat that at all. We are really disappointed. Someone didn't plan or cook the ribs very well. Instead of fall off the bone ribs we got rubber won't fall off the bones. Shame on you SC. If you are going to charge 25 dollars for ribs make sure they are edible. My slow cooker would do a better job. read more

We come here so infrequently. However, the BBQ is pretty good. It's a mix of all the bbq joints in the area. (Rudy's and Dickey's). It's hard to judge, since I like the sauce here sometimes better than any of the other restaurants. The sliced beef is not bad and I always prefer the lean sliced beef to ones that have the fat on it. The sides are better prepared at other BBQ restaurants. The beans are good here. But the corn is much better at another'. Same with the coleslaw. The rolls are super good! Lots of butter. They also come around and offer fresh rolls to those dining in. The sausage is better at another bbq joint than this one. We didn't like the pepper flavored sausage. The original is much better tasting personally. Depends on your mood. I'd return. It was expensive. But what place isn't when you go out to eat? The service is cafeteria style, except they serve you. Just tell them what you want. There are plenty of tables or booths to sit at. We were looking for a less expensive alternative to our favorite McKinney BBQ place because their prices are insane now, and Spring Creek is definitely a solid choice. The servers were friendly, and the decor is very Texas. Their rolls are terrific when they are hot...not so great when they've cooled. The brisket was pretty good but the ribs were a little dried out/overcooked. Their side positions are a little small, they don't offer free dessert or ice cream like our other place, and they don't offer a military discount. Also, it appears they only allow free refills on iced tea. Bottom line, when we're hankerin' for barbecue but don't feel like taking out a bank loan, this will likely be our place. read more

Spring Creek BBQ Restaurant in McKinney went above and beyond expectations this weekend. Reserving the Party Room my family held a large 70th birthday celebration luncheon for my wife. The General Manager Matthew Long and the entire staff was excellent to work with accommodating so many people. Matt met with my daughter and I beforehand and was very instrumental in the room design to make it a friendly atmosphere. As always the food was the best!!! Such a bad experience I am not sure how to start. Here goes: Small portions of mediocre food at the highest prices ever paid for barbecue with so-so flavor. There were three of us. We each ordered a barbecue plate and were stunned by the small size of the portions served. It was 8:00 pm when we arrived and it appeared they didn't want to bring out more meat so they made tiny cuts and spread it out on the plate to make it look fuller. Add a couple of the average sides a tiny bit of sauce (it's all about portion control here) and now comes the hammer, $23.00 PER PLATE PLUS $3.75 for a coke plus tax and on top of that, they expect a tip!! That's right, they expect a tip for YOU to walk through the cafeteria line and carry your own tray. By the way, hope you can eat fast. Although it's unlocked, someone stands by the door starting at 8:45 to keep anyone from coming in. Ribs used to be great but I'm done with this place. Three recent tries on the St Louis ribs and they're so dry you can't eat em even with sauce. Just sitting around drying out or who knows. The Bbq is decent, hot rolls are yummy, but their side dishes are one step above horrible. The BBQ beans are poor at best, green beans are yuck, the corn on the cob has had the nutrients cooked out. The okra is good, but that's extra. The last baked potato was so cold the butter wouldn't melt. We only go there because of the buy on get one free. First let me say, I hired Spring Creek to cater my wedding and 3 years later I am still actively getting questions about who catered so they can hire the same for ALL of their events. My wedding was perfect. Not a lot of people can say that. But when I tell you the first thing people remark on when reminiscing about my wedding is the food? Believe it. WOW. Not only was the catering nicely in my budget, but it was one of the cheapest options, had SO many amenities and accommodations and the people were so kind and professional. I'm completely psyched about moving up here because of all the new restaurants I'll get to try and I'm glad we went to Spring Creek after checking on the new house. I had their baked potato with chopped beef and it was incredible! Huge portion of it, so much that I had to take half home, and very tender meat, and the potato was cooked perfectly so that it just fell apart at the touch of a fork. FANTASTIC! My husband's sandwich looked amazing as well, and I love love love their rolls. I'm ashamed I've never eaten here before as many times as I've seen the name. Pick up orders . . . AVOID the Frisco Location especially on the weekend for dinner, this is the 3rd time I've gotten a bad salad. Twice the salad was wilted even when I had them wrap the meat separately and just this time I got the WRONG SALAD. Ordered southwest and got their signature salad, poor quality control. Just left and they are about to close in 40 minutes. I walked in really tired and super hungry and have had a headache for hours. As soon as I was greeted when I came around the corner my mood instantly lifted and I felt so much better because of how awesome the workers are. Roll service in the dining room continues to be great. They lost a star by not setting out some individual sauce containers, since the community sauce pots were removed with Covid19. Took the food back to the cafeteria line. It was prepared again, second plate - ribs were barely warm and pinto beans were hot and still crunchy. I went with the brisket and their recommended cut (lil'bit of everything). You can choose lean or something else if you prefer. Next, you fill the rest of the plate with standard sides of your liking. The brisket was the star of my plate. Perfection!!! Even the BBQ sauce hit the right mix of vinegar and spice. The green beans were lacking a bit - even with the bacon. I also tried their mustard-based potato salad (decent). The Macaroni & cheese looked gross, so I skipped it along with the corn on the cob and baked beans. My colleagues thought the baked beans were a bit watery but flavorful. With Hutchins just down the street (best BBQ in Dallas) there's absolutely no reason to go to a BBQ chain like this...unless your kid's school has a spirit night. Three kids rib plates and a chopped brisket sandwich cost $32. The ribs were dry and overcooked, small and without much meat. The Mac and cheese had been sitting out too long, so I opted for green beans and potato salad. Just like other reviewers have stated: they are flavorless. Heard of salt? I hate the set up here. You have a person who is dedicated to handing out rolls but if I need a drink refill I need to fight my way through the line to the one drink machine you own? That's just crap.
