My family have been buying from this company for years. It goes way back to Price Club. Then later merge and was renamed to Price-Costco. Today, its simply Costco. Some might think this is a bias opinion but I did give Walmart's Sams Club a chance. One whole years actually! In the end, I remained a Costco fan. It is clean, well lit with natural lighting in some locations and the staff there is much friendlier. The culture of Costco seems so much brighter than the gloomy Sam's Club. Will be a Costco member for life. read more

My favorite Costco store. Great imported food selection, electronics, and pharmacy. Not too crowded, very well organized and professional. Overall, good experience and exceeded expectations. Five stars! read more

Costco - Wholesale Stores Near Me - Austin, Texas

Let me start with ILOVE Costco.... I go every week...But after today I'm wondering if they are under new management. The lines were the longest and slowest I've ever seen and same for the food court. Then the frozen yogurt cups were only half full. Normally this Costco is my happy place but after today... not so much. read more

When my wife was without a car for three months, we saved so much money. As Target is to Walmart so is Costco to Sam's. Great products. Even better return policy. And well-staffed. Steaks are awesome. The prepared food section has tons of items that make for an easy to throw party. Other than needing to switch over to Dr. Pepper products (instead of Pepsi) there's nothing to complain about. My favorite store in Baton Rouge. read more

I haven't been a member of Costco for a few years since my last bad experience.. today I decided to open a new membership because I needed to buy something they had online and decided to give them a chance again.. worst mistake, customer service was horrible.. the lady who opened up my account was rude and sarcastic I told her twice I wasn't interested in opening the gold card and she kept pushing it.. I also couldn't add my bf to my secondary because he needed to Bring a prove of address that he lives with me, she also told me I couldn't open up a membership if I didn't set it as auto renew.. so I was already upset of the fact she was asking for all this things just to open the membership.. When that was done.. I come in and there isn't much selection.. I decide to Go buy lunch at the cafe and they took away some of the items as well like the salads the turkey sandwiches and among other items.. honestly this place sucks now.. I think After today I'm canceling my membership and getting my money back.. costco is not the same anymore. Rude associates nothing new and what was good is gone.. not many selections in the isle either.. definitely keeping my Sam'sclub atleast they don't give me hassle and they have more options and no one is ever rude.. read more

The customer service manager is terrible. I sent an employee to do a return. I made the mistake of not sending the receipt and membership card. The manager tells my employee to bring those back. My employee comes and picks them up, returns to complete the return all to be told that he still can't return the item. I get on the phone with the manager. He says due to cost of the item, it can't be returned. None of this was explained on the first trip. I then ask him what the threshold is. He says it's over $1000. So I ask if the item was under $1000 would he do the return. He then contradicts himself by saying that he still wouldn't do the return, it's at "manager's discretion". He then tells me that I have to personally come in to do the return, and that he told my employee this on the first trip. Now why would he tell my employee that he needed to bring my Costco card and the receipt if I had to be there in person? Yet another contradiction. After a few minutes of this mindless banter back and forth where he continues to contradict himself, I tell him I am going to look into getting a Sam's membership. He GLEEFULLY responds by saying "THAT'S GOOD, HAVE A NICE DAY!" This of course was dripping with sarcasm. My employees have made returns on multiple other occasions. This was an arrogant and spiteful Costco employee that let his ego and attitude get in the way of serving a customer. A customer that spends tens of thousands of dollars with Costco every year. read more

This is the worst Costco I have ever shopped. There is no flow what so ever in regards to merchandize location. The meat and fish selection is average at best. The spice selection is barren compare to my last Costco store. They have very little in regards to pre-seasoned foods. I was disappointed. I doubt that I will renew my membership when it expires. So disappointed, as I loved my Costco in Jacksonville Florida. read more

I love the South Austin Location of Costco! The employees are always friendly and helpful, and I can't think of a time when the checkout Cashiers have been anything but super courteous. I buy way too much when I shop, but I am always impressed by the cleanliness of the store, and the huge variety of everything under the sun....I feel fortunate that this Costco is so convenient to me, but honestly, I would drive farther to shop that, were it not so close. Always leave feeling 'well treated'. read more

It was the day before my grandson's UT graduation party and we needed some last-minute foods, mostly vegetables and dips. I was the person with the Costco card so we came over to this location and stocked up. Easy way to drop $100 huh? We got lots of vegetables and crackers and dips plus my youngest daughter talked me out of a new pair of shoes that she ended up loving, and we bought a bottle of sangria to top it off. I'd say it was a pretty successful visit! You can't hardly go wrong with Costco in any town. The employees were helpful, the store looked clean and there was plenty of merchandise available. read more

I love Costco for pretty much everything- but let me warn you about two items. The green chili chicken enchiladas are terrible and the Kirkland puppy chow made my dogs breath smell like constant fart. We changed his food and it's much better now. Besides that, great place. read more

I've been going to Costco for a love you long time. In fact, I'll go old school on that ass - for years, I continued to think of it as Price Club, the name they used to go by before becoming Costco and blowing up like DeNiro in Raging Bull. Costco is basically America in store form - Bigger! Better! Cheaper! But before visions of Wal Mart go swirling through your head, there's a big difference... Costco carries a lot of quality products (as opposed to a store full of crap made in China), and the reason their are prices low, aside from the ridiculous sizes/quantities they offer, is that they sell most products at or below a 15% margin. In the retail world, that, my friends, is a thin margin. They take care of their employees and operate efficiently, all of which contributes to allowing us to purchase way more food than we need for way more than we need to spend - BUT! For a swell price per ounce...YAY! Four pounds of bacon? Check. Patio furniture? Check. Huge bags of lettuce? Check. Large appliances? Check. Brunello di Montalcino? Check. Gigantic inflatable water slides? Check. iPods? Check. Large bag of Sunkist pistachio kernels? Check. (And damn good - highly recommended) Cases of imported beer (or domestics, if you swing that way)? Check. Bulk porn? Nah...but hey, there's always room for improvement. Okay, you get the picture. So looking at that picture, you'll also notice that there's no way you're getting out of this place under a hundred bucks. In fact, you'll be lucky to escape under two hundred. I recommend learning the layout well, and to avoid venturing down any unnecessary aisles. Because it's pretty much inevitable that the super deluxe tool set or the 12 pieces of fabulous cookware or the pressure washer or the 50 inch LCD screen is gonna look miiiiigggghhhtttttyyy fine when you pass it. Consider yourself warned. But on the bright side, after forking over many Benjamins you'll leave feeling like you got over on those suckas as you walk out with a polish sausage and 20 oz drink for $1.50. HAA!!! PS - they have an extremely lenient return policy...great for consumers, but for sellers of high end pogo sticks who have to deal with returns when people use and abuse them for 6 months and then eat shit trying to do something stupid and decide that it's no longer for them, not so great. read more

"Costco is the way to GO!" LOVE Costco. Love it. Love it. Here's why: 1. Get all your monthly grocery shopping done in ONE well-chosen weekday afternoon--when Costco is quiet. You have just saved about 49 hours waiting in stupid H.E.B. lines. 2. Look into your freezer and see massive amounts of meat: burger, individually wrapped chicken breasts, bacon wrapped steaks, thick smoked bacon, as you consider, "what shall I make tonight ....?" 3. Get gourmet on your own ass with lamb shanks. 4. Celebrate your newly-purchased booty with a $1.50 polish dog. 5. Check out their cooking / kitchen supplies. I bought eight huge funky, colorful glasses for like $10. 6. One package of bulk kitchen garbage bags lasts the rest of your entire life. 7. Definitely bring home the bacon .... and freeze the extra. 8. Great wine selection. 9. Optometrists and AWESOME deal on contact lenses. 10. You're NOT supporting Wal-FART. You're life will improve if you support Costco. Mine did. read more

How can you not love the Costco? It's got everything you need and tons of stuff you want. Who doesn't want a 1 gallon can of chopped black olives? Not anyone I know, that's for sure. 3 gallons of dill pickles? Check. What about a 1200 pack of AA batteries? Costco is your battery headquarters! Need a meal while you shop for 5 cases of copier paper? Just walk around the store and sample everything from granola to chicken nuggets to bagel bites. Not enough for you? How about a 5 pound wheel of brie? You NEED this brie. You like brie, don't you? Seriously, Costco has great prices for items I use all of the time, like shaving cream, razor blades, deoderant, and macaroni and cheese. Costco is also my go to place when I'm shopping for electronics. Yeah, it's not always the same stock, but that's kind of the fun of Costco. That and samples. And hot dogs. They have really good hot dogs. But remember to either bring your AmEx, debit card, your checkbook or cash as Costco only accepts AmEx for credit cards. read more

ATTENTION! Costco has a liquor department! Oh, yes. You heard me right. It's just to the left of the main entrance. They don't have everything you can find at Spec's, but they do have those amazing bulk specials, if you're looking to buy more than one of something. Aside from the little booze den on the side, Costco itself is, if nothing else, a fun Saturday morning distraction. I'm a Costco newbie, so I'm still learning the ropes and figuring out how it all works, but I have a mental note tacked to the back of my brain to stop in before my next par-tay. read more

One word: Coffee. It's the reason we still have a Costco membership even though we moved to San Marcos four years ago, where there is only Sam's Club. Costco roasts its own brand of coffee, which is available in several varieties and roasts: Colombian, Sumatra, House Blend, and a dark roast for espresso lovers. The beans are roasted at Costco's NW Austin location and trucked down to South Austin. This stuff is good -- better tasting than any whole bean coffee purchased from a grocery store -- and unbelievably cheap: $8.99 for 2.5 pounds. That's $3.60 a pound for freshly roasted beans. Impossible to find anywhere else, unless you buy green coffee beans wholesale and roast them yourself. For coffee alone, we hit Costco about once every four months and stock up on roughly 8 bags each of Colombian and Colombian decaf. Yes, that's 40 pounds of coffee. But it makes economic sense to limit the number of trips to we make to Costco, since at 24 miles away, it's not exactly down the street. And the coffee, because it was roasted weeks if not days before we bought it, tastes just great four months later. OK, I exaggerated. We also buy some of Costco's excellent fat-free frozen yogurt on our way out, so coffee isn't the only thing we get. But when you stack up the investments -- $4 for yogurt vs. $144 for coffee -- the yogurt barely registers. I'm surprised I even mentioned it. (So with all this coffee love, why only 4 stars? Costco loses a star because its hours are far less convenient than Sam's, which opens three hours earlier on weekdays than Costco. I mean, THREE HOURS, people. That's a big difference -- a star-worthy difference, in my book.) read more

I purchased my Michelin tires here in the spring of 2013 when they had a $70 off coupon. Besides the discount on the tires, the other benefit to purchasing from Costco is their lifetime maintenance services which include balancing, rotation, flat repairs and inflation pressure checks as well as the mileage and road hazard warranty. They also fill your tires with nitrogen which is supposed to retain tire pressure better. Better tire pressure helps with tire longevity and fuel economy. Last week, my back rear tire had not one, but 2 nail holes in it right next to each other. I was not near a Costco, but was able to get a temporary fix until I could get back to Costco. I booked an appointment for Monday afternoon at 3 pm to get a replacement tire. They took my keys and replaced my tire while I shopped. Less than an hour later, my car was ready with a bright shiny new tire and at no charge! No muss! No fuss! I was on my way with a safe vehicle and peace of mind, not to mention my Costco shopping haul. So, if you are in the market for tires, I highly recommend you consider Costco. Not only will you get a better price, but they are almost always running a sale on one of their brands (generally $70 off four tires). The savings is enough to more than pay for a basic membership or justify the executive membership price. Hint - they take appointments for M-F from noon to 6 pm, so you can shop while you wait and be back on the road in no time. read more

Before Costco came to South Austin, we went to Sams. Parking was a pain and we never bought anything but bulk toilet paper and laundry detergent. With just the 2 of us (and our furry friends) we finally said "why?" That was the end of Sams for us. In comes Costco. I think my parents were eager to check it out and we tagged along. After a few years of being without our Sams membership we decided to give the mega-store another whirl. We thought we could maybe split stuff with my folks. I have to say, I like the fact that they left some trees in the parking lot. Shade is always a good thing. Eventually I discovered that this place was way beyond just paper towels and toilet paper. There meat department is top notch. I love their individually vacuum packed pork loin and chicken breasts. I have yet to try the scallops but they look so good. They also have a great selection of chicken and turkey sausages that taste out of this world and are low calorie. I've learned how to buy vegetables as a family of two. No, the bag of 8 avocados usually won't work for us. I am very selective and switch it up (to prevent boredom) and make sure I don't buy too much. I love the large containers of strawberries, grapes and peppers. I tend to eat more fruits and vegetables because of their abundance in the house. That's always a good thing! The Kirkland brand sea salt and pepper grinders are the bomb! They always work so well, better than the ones that I buy to refill. I also love the selection of marinated asparagus and artichoke hearts. They have such a great selection of cheeses. Last Christmas, I bought two wedges of good cheese and split them up. We brought half to my families house (with grapes and wine) and half to my in-laws house. It was the hit - and so easy. We LOVE the ready made pizzas near the meat department. We usually go for the pizza margherita, but recently indulged on the pepperoni. Hel-lo! Can you say out of this world? Only $9.99 for a gourmet 16" pizza. We usually eat what we want and then freeze the rest for my skinny husbands lunches. Other than the food selections, there are some great items all over the store. We recently outfitted our garage with heavy duty stainless steel shelving for about $80 each. I think each unit holds something like 5000 lbs? You really can find good deals all over this store, and I enjoy going because I discover something new every time. Oh, and the 1.29 fat-free frozen yogurt is a great treat for a hot day. I am a fan. read more

Since we're a small family unit and live in a small duplex (no storage), we have to be pretty picky about the bulk-style purchases we make. But there are a few things that make it worth our while to shop here. First of all, what brought us here initially were the diapers. Gross subject so I'll just say that Costco's generic brand (Kirkland Signature) rivals Pampers and Huggies in terms of softness and absorbency but a shocking amount less than the price of those name brands. Another item we can't leave without is a 3-pack of frozen thin crust pizza. Palermo? Le Palermo? Something like that... but they have 2 varieties...one with pepperoni and sausage, the other is a margarita pizza. Never had the margarita variety but can vouch for the addictive nature of the pep/sausage. OMG, they're the best. Perfect crust and the sausage has a bit of a kick. If we had a bigger freezer we'd buy a ton of that. If you're not a thin crust fan, come into the store, go straight to the concession stand up front, place an order for one of their fresh reg crust pizzas to go, and by the time you're ready to leave you have a toasty treat waiting for you on the way out. There are great prices on beer/wine, but now that Speck's is around the corner, I haven't had a chance to compare between the two. Ready-made food is awesome, and there's a chicken-spinach sausage that ROCKS in the fridge cases in this section. But one of my favorite things is to buy flowers here. You can get a honkin' big bouquet for about $15. Great if you're planning a party on the cheap and don't have specific colors/flowers in mind (ever changing varieties available). Oh, and they have a great deal on 18x18 travertine tiles. About $25/case...I think it's 10 sf, so $2.50/sf and you'll pay closer to $5/sf elsewhere. read more

I'm still in love with this location. Great service and quality. Time and time again the things we need are there and then there's the meat department. Steaks, pork and fish to die for. Want to impress your friends then do a cook out with Costco meat and listen to their comments? read more

Costco - This place is like crack cocaine - Wholesale Stores Near Me - Austin, Texas

Something tells me Costco didn't think their Polish hot dog idea all the way through. You see, I'm in love with their hotdog. I used to shop around, fill up the cart, then get a hotdog on my way out. I reordered my priorities now. I get there and go straight to the Cafe. Once I've devoured my hot dog, I am so satisfied and convinced all is well in the world now - that I waltz right out in a state of nirvana. That's right, nirvana for a buck fifty! I get home and sure enough, I forgot to pick up the paper towels. No worries, I've got Hebrew National to remind me to go back. Costco, your Polish dogs are costing you everything they make me forget. read more

Nothing says I'm an upper middle class American like Costco. And it totally screams TEXAS!!! Huge parking spaces, lots of big TVs, gaudy jewelry, and a liquor store (kind of leased out, but in the building). Prices cannot be touched by HEB - here are some of my favs.. Anything made with the rotisserie chicken - Chicken salad, chicken noodle soup, chicken wraps, etc. baby back ribs!!! snow crab claws pizza ($10 and feeds 5 easy) hummus (i like the chipotle flavor) pork tenderloin wine! great selection forget all the bikes and chinese crap they sell - it's all about the food, baby. So now that I've reviewed Costco, maybe I'll get a little Yelp respect, no? read more

I love this place. I buy everything I can here. Seriously. Everything I can. Mark's Tips & Tricks: You don't have to have a membership to buy from the liquor store - there's a separate entrance just to the left of the main entrance. If you're going on a weekend, make it early - or late. Saturday and Sunday mid-day it's chaos. Best time to go is Monday afternoon. You can usually get in a pretty well rounded meal by just stopping at the sample tables while you shop. The Costco American Express card - the only credit card they accept - may have an annual fee, but it pays for itself with the reward points you earn, which - contrary to popular belief - can definitely be redeemed for cash. And finally, if you're planning on heading south on Mopac when you leave, don't head out of the parking lot through the south entrance by Chuys - I know it looks like it'll work, but it won't, you'll end up heading north and have to make a U-turn at William Cannon. Head back toward William Cannon but take a right at the traffic circle. read more

I am a fan of Costco this one is my favorite here in town. Always busy on the weekends and parking is always a nightmare. I tend to park closer to Whole Foods since it's less of a hassle. Just make sure you watch while walking there are A'hole trolls of drivers that can't wait one minute to let you cross or move out of the way...oh and it drives me nuts to see them speeding in the parking lots ... truly only 5 mph...if you happen to miss lunch there is a good chance you can dine a la cart at the sample tables. read more

As my funny boyfriend puts it, I have drunk the Costco kool-aid. Oh yes, I have. Between the prices and quality of items, I honestly don't see how anyone who joins can possibly keep from spreading the Costco gospel. And I say this as a single person living in a place without a ton of storage space and sans kids, even. Here are a few things I've picked up there recently: 24 pack of La Croix sparkling water- $6.99 25 lb. bag of (relatively good quality) cat food- $14.69 8 pack of sliced organic apples (perfect for work snacks)- $7.99 30 pack of Fiber One breakfast bars- $9.99 24 pack of Morningstar Farms veggie breakfast patties- $10.39 Bottle of premixed blood orange mimosas- $10.99 (yes, not so cheap, perhaps, but that was my splurge item) 12 pack of (delicious) wild Alaskan salmon burgers- around $12 (lost the receipt on this one) My only (admittedly minor) complaint is that when I went yesterday (on a Sunday, around 5:00 p.m.), there were no samples to be had, I think maybe because they were getting ready to close at 6:00. But all the other times I've been there have been many nice samples to snack on, which helps prevent me from leaving with something I probably don't need, like a $12 gigantic jar of pretzels. I haven't checked out the little liquor outpost off to the side yet, being a pretty big fan of Spec's, but I probably will at some point. Inside the main store, however, they definitely have some respectable wines at decent prices. Also, they have a fairly comprehensive produce section, which surprised me. For a work potluck, I picked up a really nice veggie tray for around $10-$12, which was much larger, cheaper and of better quality than anything I would have found at H.E.B., I think. So, if you're considering it but on the fence, I'd say join. I've been very pleased with my decision to do the same thus far. read more

Good overall experience with optical center. I brought my two pairs of Costco glasses in to see if the one year warranty would help me out. I was told "No", but that an exception would be made for me. Awesome, especially since I haven't renewed my expired membership. I had a very different experience today when I picked up the first pair. I was told that I was no longer within warranty, and felt like he did not want to help me. Mainly because he was making that up. He then retrieves my repaired (everyday) glasses and hands them to me. He doesn't wipe the layer of dust off the lenses, he doesn't offer to make any adjustments to make them comfortable, and didn't apologize for the error on the warranty. Basically I felt dismissed and need to make the extra trip to another eyeglass shop. I think that Costco typically hires better representatives, and I love the company so much that this is my first ever yelp review. Costco takes such great care of employees, and to have that job is a big deal. I've applied for years across a few different cities and have yet to land a single interview. It pissed me off to see someone not care about the job I want. read more

This morning I went to the William Cannon store senior hours & was so pleased at every level. The customer entry process was organized & safe. The store was immaculately clean, the staff were protected with masks & gloves, the meat processing employees were six feet apart, & even employee personal items were left & safeguarded outside the store. As a healthcare professional I could not have asked for more in the name of infection control for both the staff & customers. A special thanks to all the employees for the work they do. Your customer service skills have always been excellent. Being essential staff is not easy. It is sometimes fearful work, one always has to be aware & careful, & you cannot even hug your loved ones when you arrive home until you "clean up." Thank you Costco you are doing it right. I honor & respect you. read more

This location is fairly new, so it is very clean, well laid-out, and there are some winning prices to be had. Groceries for three for the month: $293.00. And we probably will not get anything else besides milk until March. Have you ever looked at Costco's website? They sell Asian steak for $3000.00! I never saw that on the shelves. The only star dropper was the nosy little bag sacker who got involved in my conversation with Aimee C. I was wondering if Costco took Discover, which they do not. So, Aimee and I were deliberating over paying cash, using the debit card, etc. So, this sacker informed me that I technically had to pay cash, since I was not a Costco member. Hello? How did we make it through the front door, Bee-yoch! Was I talking to you? You don't know my life! I was so ready to get all drag queeny on her. Good thing my passive aggression set in right on schedule, and I just said, "Huh." read more

I could write several reviews about Costco (all of which would be positive) but today, I simply speak of their liquor store :) I've heard that Costco may not actually own this store and instead may just be renting out the space -- if so then I give credit where credit is due. I just appreciate the low prices :) As a champagne lover on a budget, Costco never fails me with their nicely priced Ballatore ($5.99). Some may turn their nose up at this, but hey, I like sweet champagnes and this one hits the spot for me :) Perfect for a lil evening in and always puts a smile on my face. Also, Costco assists in my other love for Mojitos. I can purchase a nice, large bottle of rum for under $20. We can enjoy a decent amount of mojitos from this. So thanks Costco, for supplying us with affordable beverages. Often times I can enjoy these just as much as going out and paying waaay too much for semi-decent drinks. read more

Costco. Increasing the standard of living for upper-middle income suburban Americans since 1983. This place is as American as apple pie and Kraft singles (both available, incidentally, in family size at a well-below industry cost.) Costco is about paying more for higher quality stuff, and getting a lot of it. It's about removing the sting of guilt that middle-class work ethic and frugality would experience when buying small, overpriced quantities of the same items at the grocery store. Ultimately, you're going to spend more than you planned when you come to Costco. But the deals are apparently so good, that you couldn't afford not to. And even if you buy more than you need, and some goes to waste, your increased purchasing power makes it ALL okay. And I couldn't think of anything more American than that. read more

I've been sadly disappointed with Costco on William Canon. 1. I no longer buy any fruits or vegetables from them. On more occasions than I want to think about, I was throwing them out a mere 2-3 days after purchase (they were covered in disgusting molds and such). I did write a letter of complaint, but was never acknowledged. At least when I buy them from the regular grocery stores they last longer and I'm not just throwing food and $ away. 2. They really need to reorganize the parking lot and add more cart returns. There are carts everywhere because there aren't enough cart returns and people just leave them about. However, to their credit, the staff always seems nice and helpful. read more

This is a 5-star review for the optical department at Costco. I've been a Costco member for a couple of years, but 'strayed' away until I needed new glasses. In fact, I've needed new glasses for about 5 years, and thanks to Pearle Vision, I have not been able to satisfy that need, (3 remade pairs in the first 30 days and still couldn't wear the VERY expensive glasses!). I finally gave up. So, fast forward to today. I took my new prescription to Costco after reading some very favorable reports on the quality of their work. Bingo! My new glasses - complete with Marc Jacobs frames, polarized, anti-reflective, progressive bifocals - cost me a whopping $229.97...about $100 less than the cheapest competition. More important, though, they are absolutely spot on to the prescription and perfectly adjusted to me for optimum vision. I celebrated by reading a newspaper - I'm a cheap date, I know, but it was great! I highly recommend these folks! read more

"I like your furniture"..."what a cool vase"..."OMG where is this carrot cake from?"..."cute jeans!".."oh my, what a pretty ring!" "Why thanks! I got it from Costco!" I make visits here every weekend. Somehow I always spend on average $100. I don't know how, but I do. It's all good quality stuff though. All of it. Organic chicken, big bag of quinoa, contacts, housewares, wine, designer jeans, 25 lb bag of flour for baking cookies.. They also do a solid job on birthday cakes, which are huge and very reasonably priced. Even my wedding ring is from Costco! and I'm not ashamed to admit that because they carry good quality jewelry as well! Sampling is always fun and it is REALLY hard to pass up that $1.50 soft serve frozen yogurt on the way out. I am a true Costco Nerd and proud of it! read more

OKAY this 5 star review is for two things Costco is now stocking. Little cherub tomatoes and Castle Rock Pinot Noir. The tomatoes are the sweetest little snacks ever. We have gone through two boxes of them since Friday just snacking on them. I grab a handful whenever I am in the kitchen. And the Castle Rock Pinot Noir might just be the best bottle of wine for 8.69. We have already gone through 3 of those. It's the 2008 and I see online the 2007 is well-reviewed. We have already turned on a couple of friends to it, so there may just be a run on the vino. My only problem with Costco lately is that I feel really rushed at the register. I think that's contributed to losing two of my cards! read more

I'm sorry to report that yesterday's experience took me from being a raving fan down to one star. If you are considering contact lenses, do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. The female employee in the Optical Department is not customer service oriented, and rather is sarcastic and downright mean. She is missing the gene for win-win solutions or a positive experience. Unbelievable. Update -- I spoke with Roger the Manager and he was horrified. He is taking care of the situation. read more

I love this Costco as the staff are very friendly and the lines are always short, even at peak hours. I have gone during lunch time as well as during rush hour between 5-7pm to find almost no lines at both the checkout and the food court. The meat, produce, and seafood sections always seem to be stocked with fresh products and the $5 foster farms rotisserie chicken is always fresh and in ample supply, unlike most Costco's where they get snatched up real quick. Another thing i like about this Costco is the fact that it is right off of the freeway which enables you to get in and out in no time. As a recent Costco member, I have only visited the store a few times, but each visit has been increasingly unimpressive, if not unpleasant. Today as I walked in I was asked to show my card (which I find in itself not very friendly but since it's a membership rule, I don't mind doing it), so I fetched the card out of my wallet and was rudely informed to "have it ready to show next time." I remarked that there would probably not be a next time. The cashier lines are usually long with most cashiers closed. When I reached the cashier, I was informed me that my items were not set up properly (presumably items have to be placed just so to enable scanning). Are we supposed to be born knowing this? I don't know how HEB or Randalls cashiers manage at all. You have to buy in bulk or there's no money to be saved, and not much option if you only want lesser quantities of many items. Lots of rules and little incentive to return. read more
