Originally, we decided to just replace both furniture pieces because they were pretty beaten up. We looked around a bit and everything was either too expensive or poorly built. Looking around definitely made us rethink kicking our old expensive Natuzzi couches to the curb because the frames were so well built. Enter Jose and the Austin Furniture Upholstery Team. We tried two other upholstery shops and Austin Furniture Upholstery was the only shop that could match our original microfiber material at a reasonable price. The fabric was half the price of one of the other shops as well. They even made arm covers for the pieces as well Their pick-up & delivery fee was reasonable as well. One shop told me I would have to arrange someone else to pick-up the furniture. All that said, I highly recommend Jose and Austin Furniture Upholstery for your next upholstery job.

What an excellent little shop! Much more intimate and less distracting than going to Joann's or another big box store. The little place was loaded with all sorts of great prints that I certainly haven't seen elsewhere. I quickly loaded up my hand with 14 different fat quarters, dreaming of projects that one day may or may not come into fruition. Such is the way! What I especially liked was the old school furniture tucked away in places throughout the store. I saw a couple of old Singers with their lovely polished wood, and they made excellent use of old cubbies for letter sorting. I'm a mild antique buff (rubbed off on me from my dad and his mother) and appreciate when something old finds a new home and use. The cubbies were filled with 4x6 postcards of fun quilts you could try, with the design on the glossy front and the instructions on the back. I believe these were free of charge, to help give customers inspiration. Too neat! There was an ample selection of colors as well as more exciting fabrics. Many floral designs and stately or muted tones of browns. Definitely good for finding a fabric to coordinate with but not detract from your main piece. I picked up a couple of plaids, which are always useful. There was a seasonal section (currently loaded with Christmas fabrics) that I imagine likely rotates throughout the year. There was a sale section for bolts that were running low, and cheapo $5 baggies of various fabrics that mix well. There was a section with felt and a small amount of flannel. Lots and lots and lots of bagged/boxed sets to choose from that have everything you need for a particular design (not my cup of tea-- designing my own piecing is highly satisfying to me). You'll also find other helpful items like thread, buttons, cutters, and the like. A space in the back with a large table for various lessons/classes (looked like there was one going on while we were browsing, but I didn't want to disturb them). Over the years, when I needed a rags, I would grab one. When I would pull out one of my kids old T-shirts, I' d go Aww, I remember this one, put it back, and grab the briefs with the stretched out waste band, and trash that. Last summer a friend ask me to help him screen in his girlfriends rear patio. I begrudgingly said sure. Damn, it was hot last summer. I knew she was a librarian. But, it turns out that she has a Quilting business with her 3 other sisters. So, this led to that ,and that to this, and they made quilts for my 2 sons. They took these old worn out T-shirts and made them look amazing. They back them, so the shirts were sturdy. I gave them whole artistic license and the quilts turned out great. They even sewed in little pockets My kids got the makings of family heirlooms for Christmas this year. I wasn't sure if they would appreciate them, but they did. Everyone who as seen them commit how beautiful they are and how well they're made. Plus, the people I've told about it, thinks I'm sensitive. And, we know how the ladies love sensitive.

Christmas was coming soon and I thought what a wonderful gift to give her family - a quilt that had t-shirts about all of his activities. Wrapping in the quilt would be like getting a hug from him. I contacted Four Sisters Quilting and even though it was pushing them to be done by Christmas, they understood the importance and took the job. The fabric they chose for the backing and edging coordinated perfectly, the shirts were backed to keep shape, the layout was organized to best suit the various colors, the quilting was great. I made the drive down and the gentlemen who worked there asked me what I was looking for in terms of comfort then walked me through my options. I made my selections and two days later the cushions were ready for pickup. My sofa feels brand new and so much more comfortable than it was before that I can't believe I didn't think to do this sooner. And the cost of getting foam for all four cushions was *very* affordable, especially when compared to what it would have cost to get the work done by one of the upholstery stores in town.
