Not a large selection of items. I got a milk bun pastry and it was fine, tasted alright and was seemingly fresh. I haven't been to other bakeries in the area but i feel there could be better, although this is an okay option. read more

Corner Cafe Bakery - Two kinds of egg tarts, delish - Bakeries Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

I was looking forward to the delectable taste of a pineapple bun all afternoon. I was pleased to find friendly staff and fresh pineapple buns. However, I bit into it and I was horrified! I was hoodwinked and betrayed. THE PINEAPPLE BUN HAD NO FILLING! I am feeling let down and deeply hurt. This is why I have trust issues. read more

Corner Cafe Bakery - Not a pineapple bun!!!! - Bakeries Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

This is a pretty good bakery with a lot of the basics. There is a $10 minimum charge for credit card and my friend was $0.02 away from that minimum but they still insisted that she buy something else, so make sure you remember to bring your cash! I didn't try anything so I can't say how everything taste, but everything looked nice. read more

Will stop coming here after multiple of the staff were quite rude after they messed up my order. No need for attitude when there are plenty of bakeries on the block! read more

A solid 3.5 Time arrived: I have frequented here about 10 times in the past month at different times of day trying to get a sense of best times to show up and what sort of variety is present. In my general experience, earlier in the day is best, with limited selection once it is dark at night. The array of breads is itself limited, but the bread prices are comparable to the other area locations. Min Credit Card $10, and they sell hot buns or teas, besides the bread. Ambience: Small corner-side location that is generally constantly flowing with customers in and out. Clean and neatly organized. Food: I have sampled the BuoLuo HK and Taiwan style, Coconut bread, and Red Bean. Taste - Right up there with the authentic vybe that I have from memories of Asia, and price-point-wise they are competitive with the other nearby restaurants roughly $1.0 or so. Wrapping itself - Individually plastic wrapped with tape that can be a bit messy to eat from (especially the Coconut bread). Coconut bread - had a rich, sweet coconut flavor, a bit messy (as most coconut breads are), with a good amount of cream filling. Was light and delicious. Both BuoLuo HK and Taiwan style were good options and well-baked. Tips/Takeaways: -Credit card min $10 -++ Buoluo (Pineapple) of both the HK and Taiwan style, and Coconut bread were safe, cheap bets -Would recommend return 1x every 3-6 weeks for morning breakfast selections for the week read more

I bought a lychee mousse and egg bread with pork floss. The bakery items were good. However, I got the tourist price of $15.xx for what should have been $8.00 plus tax. So either it was overpriced or I got ripped off by dishonest cashier/owner. read more

Why aren't there more reviews? This is place is usually popping on the weekends! This is probably actually a sign of a true Chinatown local-loved spot and not a tourist trap. People take things off the shelves faster than the bakers can get them on sometimes. Average prices, generally about $1 - $1.50 for most of the buns, a little more for varieties of cakes. My favorite thing to buy is egg tarts. They have a bar/counter where you can charge your phone and eat your delicious baked snack and people watch at the same time. They also have a variety of teas and other drinks on their menu, but you just have to grab it from their counter. It's cleaner and newer than any other bakery in Chinatown. This will probably be my go-to for awhile. read more

I have been buying this bakery since I work in boston, today, I grabbed 2 breads (taro bread are gooey )and some pastries when I opened it at home the back of the bread was gooey. I tried to call the store twice to let them know the bread was something wrong but they just hang-up the calls. It makes me mad of their actions and I don't go their anymore. read more

I believe this place has the best Portuguese egg tarts in the whole Chinatown. It's crispy on the edge and gooey on the inside. Taste fantastic! read more

This place literally saves my hungry stomach and wallet some mornings. Got a steamed pork bun and a medium milk tea for $3.75! Coffee at chain stores cost me like $4-$5.30. The place looks clean, they're open at like 6:30am so perfect to grab a quick on the go breakfast at an affordable price. Plus nothing is overly sweet so you get something filling without feeling guilty. read more

Surprised this place doesn't have more reviews, but I suppose it doesn't need any advertising bc of how good the food is. Has the Asian legitimacy of Chinese-speaking aunties running the cashier and a cash-only sign (unless spending more than $10, which is difficult cause the pastries are so cheap!). I had the fortune of trying Asian-style egg tarts (they serve the Portuguese version too) and the savory Chinese sticky rice dumpling ("zongzi"). I actually wanted to try the sweet green-bean version, but the savory egg / pork combination was sooooo good and filling. Wished I had gotten more of them. read more

Corner Cafe Bakery - Excellent egg tart filling. Flakey crust! - Bakeries Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Unusually clean and neat cafe in Chinatown. Get their Portuguese egg tarts (pastel de nata in Portuguese) as they're one of the few places in Boston that actually do that. Pineapple buns are not the best but worth trying. Caterpillar buns filled with cream are super satisfying. And they even have Durian pancakes that taste great... that's just purely crazy. read more

I enjoy the milk tea and a few of their pastries (especially the pineapple bun and sponge cake because they are not overly sweet). The staff is very polite, welcoming, and provide fast service. If you're in the neighborhood, give this place a try! read more

I probably could have bought one of everything it all looked so good. And because I was planning to take the treats home on a plane it helped that a lot of it was already packaged and what wasn't they put into a box for me. We tried several different treats and were pleased with all of them. And the Portuguese egg cream was the best I've ever had! read more

Shady practices. My order total was $5 something and they automatically charged me an addition 30 cents for a bag. I politely said that I don't need a bag and the cashier got testy and said actually I ran it up wrong, your total is now $6 something!!! Never heard of anything so crazy. Furthermore the 30 cent bag they charge for is a single use bag... by law they are only allow to charge for recyclable multi use bags. read more

I used to love pastéis de Belém so when I saw this bakery had Portuguese custard tarts, I hoped for good things, but it was not what I was looking for. It was tasty, but the crust is crumbly, not flaky. and the custard is very egg-y. read more

Well, I was in line with a friend who wanted to try the bao here yesterday -- The customer in front of us dropped one of her items on the floor, she picked it up to give it to the cashier to discard, and the cashier told her to put the bun back on the shelf with the others, for sale. This was in view of a pretty crowded store/two lines of customers. I shudder at thinking about what goes in when no one's looking. read more

The worst service ever. Raciest. Not sure why they were condescending towards non-English speakers. Don't come.

Really good! We got the matcha mousse cake and the coffee mousse cake. They were $4 each. The coffee mousse cake was really good (a bit better than matcha). I think it's run by another restaurant nearby bc they had the same boxes. The prepackaged bread looked so good too, we got them last time. One of my favorite stops in Chinatown! read more

Most convenient and visible bakery in Chinatown. We got the coffee roll cake and a few other hot-dog breads. Everything was pretty good. It would've been better if there was more coffee flavor in the roll cake though. I could barely taste the flavor but the texture and consistency of the cake itself was still good. If you want more coffee flavor, then walk 30 seconds to the right of this bakery to Top Bread! read more

Nice tart with flaky crust. Good pastries and cakes. And of course, delicious pork bun.

One of my favorite bakeries in Chinatown. I'm addicted to all of their breads and their egg tarts are phenomenal. Try out their teas while you're there because they will not disappoint! read more

Delicious drinks and pastries, affordable prices, and everyone who works there is so sweet!

I can't recommend this place enough! I always stop by every time I'm traveling through the Back Bay/South End Station or the Chinatown T stop. I've tried a few of the baked goods and they have all been good, but I always end up buying as many red bean paste moon cakes as I can hold. I don't crave many foods, but I crave those red bean paste moon cakes. Be aware that the card limit is $10 so if you don't have cash you need to buy a lot of goodies, not that that's a bad thing :) read more

Very hit and miss depending on what you buy. My first trip there was for their cakes, and I can definitely say that I've had better elsewhere. I tried their tiramisu, and if you're hoping for legitimate Italian tiramisu, then you're in the wrong place. The taste was very underwhelming, and I will not be back for their cakes. Their pastries are a different story though. I really like some of their pastries. So my suggestion would be to just shop around and see if anything is to your liking. read more

I was looking for a bakery that sold mooncakes because I never really liked the ones you find at Asian supermarkets in a box. Wandering around Chinatown, I found this small place. I'm so glad that I found Cafe Corner. I love the mooncakes and coconut buns at this small little shop! The mooncakes are $2.50 for a small one, which is a fantastic deal! It is super delicious and affordable. My personal favorite is lotus and they are fantastic! read more

Quite honestly, I have tried just about every bakery in Chinatown at this point and in my opinion, that the steamed pork buns here are the best. Ho Yuen is know for these but I'm honestly much more happy with the buns at Corner Cafe! $1.75 for a steamed pork bun, they are soft and pillowy like I remember having as a kid growing up, and the PERFECT amount of filling. Make sure you clarify a couple times which bun you would like but it is 100% worth it! The texture is absolutely lovely. I will be returning soon!! read more

They make the best pineapple bread in Chinatown! I used to live in Hong Kong and can honestly say that theirs is very authentic!

I just wrote a review saying May's has the best egg tarts in Boston, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to redact it. This new spot blows all the competition out of the water on that front. They're the only place in town that regularly serves "Portuguese" egg tarts. At first I thought they had just subjected a standard-issue egg tart to a broiler, but no - the custard is indeed creamier than it is eggy and smoother than it is gelatinous, as a good Portuguese-style Chinese egg tart should be. They also have absurdly long hours compared to most other bakeries (6 am to 11 pm). Their non-egg tart offerings are fine but no threat to the older shops. read more
