Still delicious. Still adorable. Small shop with big impact. A local favorite for sure. Friendly staff. Easy location. 10/10

Oakleaf Cakes is a cute & cozy bakery near Symphony Hall. Tried a small selection of their items and ended up thoroughly impressed! Cupcakes were moist, not too sweet and came in classic flavors such as Chocolate, Red Velvet, Vanilla, etc. Vegan Pop Tart was great too. It was flakier than a traditional pop tart and had a nice homemade strawberry jam filling. I bought two cookies for my boyfriend and considering how he devoured them both in one sitting (despite not being a sweets person), would definitely say they're quite good lol. Their galaxy brownie cookie was my favorite. Chocolate-y & chewy inside, crispy on the outside and generously coated in rainbow sprinkles. I noticed they also had beautifully decorated whole cakes for sale, so will definitely need to try one someday. Also the barista / cashier lady was very kind and helpful. Highly recommend this place!

I come here semi-often and always have a good experience. Today though, I tried their seasonal marshmallow (mocha) latte-- and it was so lovely and rich. I will definitely be back to get it again.

Stopped by to satisfy my chocolate chip cookie craving and Oakleaf certainly did the job! Their cookies are huge and have a chocolate chunk in every bite. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just like I like them. Seems to be more of a specialty cake store and it's not the coziest cafe ever, but I'd come back to try their other baked goods.

Cake with images of oru childhood pets

Our custom cake was fabulous! We submitted photos of what we wanted (childhood pets for a birthday cake) and the cake was beautiful with creativity, precision, artistry, and elegance - a true masterpiece. The whole communication process was easy and efficient during the ordering and pick up process. And the cake itself was absolutely delicious - we ordered chocolate. Highly recommended!!

A cute little cafe/bakery near Northeastern. I came in on a Saturday afternoon and they still had plenty of sweet treats to choose from. I decided to get the chocolate chip cookies and candied cashew toffee shortbread cookie along with a cold spiced apple cider. The store was pretty busy with customers coming in and out as well as the tables filled, but service was great. The spice apple cider is perfect for the this fall weather and the cookies are bigger than your standard cookie. I enjoyed both cookies and would love to go back and try out their cakes one day.

I went here for a cake decorating class and it did not disappoint! So much goes into the process of making and decorating a cake from scratch. The basics class includes: layered cake assembly, frosting cake, decorating practice, and decorating cake. This class does not include making your own buttercream or making your own cake layers, but there is a live demo on how to make the buttercream in a standing mixer. My favorite part of the class was getting to practice the different piping techniques on parchment paper. There was also a lesson on piping flowers but that didn't interest me as much. Overall this was fun and I would recommend as long as you are okay with standing on your feet for 3+ hours

    Monster Mash themed halloween party!

I have been ordering cakes and the dessert bars from Oakleaf for over 5 years. There is always a theme for my parties, and the cake they provide always reflects that theme. They never disappoint!

Beautiful Crystal Themed Baby Shower Cake from Oakleaf Cakes / Boston

I sent Oakleaf Cakes a CHALLENGING inspiration picture for a Reiki Crystals themed baby shower cake in pastel shades hoping they could get close to our vision. I had no idea they would deliver above and beyond our expectations. The scattered crystals were elegant (and delicious), the colors were delicate & beautiful and the cake flavors (chocolate & carrot) were a hit with everyone. They crafted little cupcakes topped with mini-crystals to match - so well done! This is the second event I've coordinated with Oakleaf from 1500 miles away! Their passion for creative design, responsiveness and attention to detail make the entire experience enjoyable and stress-free. Thank you so much Oakleaf Cakes!

Vanilla Bean cake with strawberry buttercream frosting

Delicious Vanilla Bean cake but the star of the show was this Strawberry Buttercream frosting. I usually don't like buttercream but this place does it the right way!! Now can we take a minute to adore the decorations! They knocked this out of the park!

Really pleased with the cake I purchased from there! I got one of the ready-made gourmet chocolate cakes - not only was it so cute but it was so tasty! The buttercream was so light and smooth and the cake overall was not too sweet. I was genuinely impressed with the cake and can only imagine how good the customized cakes are. Their 5 inch cake was the perfect size for a small party and reasonably priced. The shop also smelled amazing when you walk in. I'll have to come back to check out the coffees and pastries too.

This is a LONG overdue review! Oakleaf is unbelievable! I had my sons 1st birthday cake/ cupcakes made with these folks in 2021 and so glad I did! The cake was not only show stopping, it was absolutely delicious!!! The cupcakes were top notch as well! Will definitely be returning for years to come!!

I went with two scoops, black raspberry and brownie chocolate, and the brownie was killer. Rich, chocolatey, and totally worth standing outside in 30 degree weather to eat it. I devoured it without hesitation. There were so many great flavor options, and my friends all found something they loved too. It felt like one of those classic, must-stop dessert spots. Cold, delicious, and just the right amount of chaotic fun... it was wicked good.

Just had a really odd experience at this location…read more I ordered a small cup of a special flavor (sticky toffee pudding). The server asked if I wanted any toppings. I said, "Yes please, I'd like M&Ms." The server, and another person working behind the counter, both told me that they just ran out of M&Ms. They didn't have any more. This was weird to me. As I was walking to the the shop, I passed a person who had a small cup of ice cream with both m&m's and oreo topping. Okay, I thought. That's weird but so be it. Then, I scootch over to look at the rest of the toppings and what do I see? M&Ms. I point out the M&M's to the employee and ask, "hey, aren't those M&M's?" They mumbled something back that I didn't exactly catch. They either said "those are closed" or "those are skittles" or "it's not those". "those are closed" makes no sense because they asked if I wanted toppings and it was 2 and a half hours before they closed. "those are skittles" makes no sense because they don't carry skittles as a topping... The whole experience was perplexing to me. Anyways, JP Licks is pretty overrated and too expensive. $6.5+ for the smallest size is not worth it. They have some decent flavors (cookies n' cake batter) though and the ice cream is usually pretty well executed and not icy. still, not really a place i'd recommend and won't be going back for a while after this freak incident. Attached photos are the proof that they had M&Ms. Note the "M" on the candy and the blue colored candies (they don't make blue skittles)

I do not go out for coffee much anymore due to the convenience and cost effectiveness of a Breville and am often frustrated paying over $5 for mediocre coffee, but flour cafe was not in this boat. Even better was the fact that these drinks were served by someone with a warm spirit and smile.. hard to get great service these days. We walked into a building with the kind of architectural character that chain bookstores cannot manufacture, with small rooms opening into each other across multiple floors, wallpapered walls, and reading nooks distributed throughout that invite you to slow down rather than move through quickly. The book selection is well curated with staff recommendation cards on the shelves that actually reflect genuine enthusiasm rather than perfunctory notes. We saw limited edition hardcovers and local and regional titles appearing alongside the broader fiction and nonfiction selection. Browsing felt productive rather than overwhelming because the curation kept things focused. The kids section upstairs is one of the more delightful in Boston, with a train running along a track near the ceiling that tends to make a strong impression on younger visitors. There is also an art print vending machine on the second floor that draws its own audience of visitors looking for something small and specific to take home. The cafe occupies the lower level and operates as a separate experience from the bookshop above. We ordered the oat milk cappuccino with Vermont maple syrup, which was worth it. The morning glory scone and the popovers are two other items to consider. The cafe is tiny, around eight tables inside with a small patio, and reservations are recommended for breakfast and afternoon tea service. Pricing at the cafe is on the higher end, and certain fixed price service formats on specific dates push it considerably further, so checking current pricing before booking is worth doing. For a bookshop that doubles as a destination in its own right, Beacon Hill Books and Cafe delivers a cozy, curated experience that rewards lingering. It is the kind of place we would return to just to sit and read with a good coffee.
