    Borim's Matcha

I was over a friend's playing board games and they brought out some desserts that they needed help to finish before going on a trip, one of which was a cheesecake. It was my first time having and learning about the existence of Basque Cheesecake. It was an OG Burnt and it was amazing. It's firm and dense on the outside, light, soft and silky on the inside, a caramelised top and nice crunchy graham base. Duly is really nice. He has drop dates 1-3 times each month and does special orders case by case. Before ordering one for my birthday, among the million and one questions I had, I inquired if he sells slices as I didn't want to commit to a flavor without trying it first. And don't get me wrong, The OG Burnt is a great when-in-doubt choice. He does not sell slices but has limited samples of a few flavors at each drop date. The consistency of the texture is the same in all the cakes. Each flavor is inspired by a drink. I'm hoping he experiences Ube Milk Tea very soon :'). Here's what I've tried so far: Borim's Matcha - I went with this one for my birthday. The matcha is perfectly balanced with the cream cheese, it's not too matcha-y but not muted. Black Tea Honey - this one was nostalgic as it reminds me of how my mom makes her tea (Yellow Label Lipton tea with condensed milk) The regular sizes are about 5" and about 2" high at the edges.

tl;dr my goodness, order this cheesecake as soon as you can! I came to know about Korean Momma from a friend who had bought an OG Burnt Cheesecake earlier in the week. He was so kind to share some, and from the first bite, I knew I had to get my own ASAP! Fast forward one week: I place an order on the Korean Momma website, and on the next Saturday I show up at Shojo for pickup. I'm immediately greeted by Duly (the owner and creator) himself, and he is so kind! He offered me a Vietnamese Coffee Cheesecake sample, which was delicious. We chatted for a few minutes longer as he told me more about the story behind Korean Momma: for more details, I would strongly recommended Episode 8 of the Seoulful Productions podcast, which features Duly himself talking about Korean Momma! But I want to focus on the main reason I'm writing this review: the OG Burnt Cheesecake is hands down my favorite slice of cheesecake. I'm anyways a basque cheesecake fan, but this one's perfectly creamy center and bottom crust make it unlike any other I've had (and I've had many!). Every part of it is so well crafted, and it's clear that Duly has put in extraordinary effort to make this amazing. Since my first visit, I've already ordered twice more, including for my family (though I took a "tax" of sorts before I gave it to them...). Please - if you're anywhere near Cambridge, try this out!

One of the best cheesecakes I've ever had. The texture is super creamy and rich. My partner surprised me with one and it was an amazing gift. Duly is a kind person and he even gave us a few samples to try! It is a grab and go situation since you have to order in advance then pick up, and it was super quick. I highly recommend ordering cheesecake from here!

It is…read moreKorean-Mexican fusion, and to me, this is fusion done right! - Coreanos bowl: The star of the meal. It came in a foil bowl, packed with saucy rice and bits of meat/veggies (onions and carrots), then topped with a perfect sunny-side-up egg. The protein I got was spicy pork, but you can also choose other proteins. The yolk was still runny enough to mix in and make everything extra rich. The portion was huge. Not too spicy. It also came with miso soup with a few bits of tofu and green onion in it. - Quesadilla: filled with beef and kimchi, with two different sauces drizzled all over (one creamy, one a little spicy). A lot of meat inside! Not too spicy. - Peach limeade: a very refreshing drink, but on the sweeter side, I wish it were a bit more sour. Overall: This felt like the ideal casual lunch: fast and filling. You order at a counter and they bring the food to you later, if you choose to dine in. There aren't too many seats. You need to fill your own water cup, and they have cold and warm water. The portions are generous and the food is pure comfort. Would definitely come back anytime I'm craving something saucy and satisfying.

I recently stopped by Coreanos for a Korean-Mexican fusion meal…read more I ordered the bulgogi, shrimp tempura, and short rib tacos. While waiting, I was surprised with a bowl of miso soup, which was warm, comforting, and flavorful. The tacos were generously filled and served on flour tortillas. I went in expecting the short rib to be my favorite, but the bulgogi taco emerged as my favorite. That said, because they were so well-stuffed, the tacos were a bit soggy. I also paid extra to add kimchi to one of them via the ordering screen, but it seems that addition was missed. I paired this with a Thai coffee, which was refreshing and delivered a noticeable caffeine kick. I'll definitely be back to try the kimbap. My partner, Anna F., ordered it, and after stealing a bite, I was left craving more. The restaurant is small, but we were able to find a table without issue.

I've seen salmon, tuna, toro, uni, squid, crab, and more. You can ask the staff to cut up the fish blocks for you, I'm not sure if this is for a small cost. They can add your fish to a bed of rice for an extra cost. They also have seafood that you cook, those items are in separate fridges with a label stating that the product is recommended for cooking. These items are frozen. You can also find different sauces, sushi rolling mats, seaweed, anything you can think of to help you prepare sushi. If you don't want to make your own sushi, you can order sushi from their menu and they will make it on the spot for you. Depending on the day or time you visit, there may be a little wait. I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon one time and waited ~10-15 minutes for two sushi rolls because there was only one person working on the sushi behind the counter and one person taking care of the register. Please be patient with them as they seem like a family-owned small business. You can also call ahead to order party trays. The prices seem fair, I've never been disappointed with the quality of fish. Very neat environment, there are signs for everything. The staff is also super friendly!

They have a few Japanese freezer and pantry items but the big draw is super fresh seafood! They sell made to order sushi and sashimi for incredibly affordable prices, and even have "party packs" to order for your next event! The most fun for me is to order their chirashi--you look around at any fish you want, bring all the packs to the front, and they'll cut the fish for you and arrange it into a beautiful chirashi bowl on rice for only $1 more than the cost of the fish! Even better, they have lots of unique fish for adventurous eaters, like sweet shrimp, clam, octopus, Uni, black cod, etc. I absolutely love getting to choose my cuts of fish, and the quality is incredible! Would note there is no seating, so this is definitely a to go spot, but definitely worth a try!

A great option to explore in Time Out market for some Asian fusion bowls…read more They offer bowls that are well-portioned (especially compared to the other vendors), are efficient in preparing orders, and have many different ways to customize the bowl to meet dietary preferences. There are also both raw and cooked options for the protein. Overall, the bowls are super flavorful, fresh, and filling. My go-to is usually the Japanese Donburi. Sometimes they are out of ingredients (commonly the salmon in my experience), but the variety they have on the menu is helpful to hopefully find a swap that fits your taste. Like the other options in Time Out, you can sit either inside or outside and after ordering, they will give you a buzzer. Just head over to the counter to pick-up when the buzzer goes off, but otherwise you can eat anywhere in Time Out. It can definitely get loud and crowded depending on the time of day or if there is an event around (like Red Sox games). I have still had pretty efficient service even when it is crowded. Only drawback is the cost, but like I said, it is somewhat more worth the money here since the portion size is larger than most of the other options.
