I've been visiting Salt + Stone for years and finally made it back after their reopening. We saw their patio was dog friendly so we brought our pups along with us. We had seen their doggy menu advertised online and were excited to try it, but unfortunately were told upon arrival that they aren't currently offering it, which was a bit disappointing. We started with the Cast Iron Baked Brie, and it was delicious. The fig jam paired perfectly with the warm brie, giving it a really nice sweet and savory balance. Definitely a must-try. For our mains, we ordered the Sesame-Crusted Ahi Tuna, Peri Peri Chicken, and Roasted Salmon. The Peri Peri Chicken was easily our favorite of the three and had great flavor. The salmon portion was on the smaller side, but the cilantro cream it was served with was tasty and complemented the dish well. Overall, we had a good experience! The staff were attentive, and we always appreciate being able to bring our dogs along to enjoy the patio. We'll definitely be back. (They need to bring back their Prosciutto crostinis!) read more

I went here today with three friends after watching a movie and we were a little late from our reservation time. We called and we were able to save our reservation and be seated in the outdoor area. Our server did an okay job serving us after he got around to us but close to the end of our meals we had to ask another server for a glass of ice (after the server didn't bring it). The food came to our hot and ready to eat. We did have nice piano music to listen to with singing as we ate so it was an enjoyable experience. read more

Great lunch place! Grab a seat at the bar - the chairs are fabulous. The bartender was very attentive and friendly. We got the tuna tower and the burrata pizza with hot honey - outstanding. Shared a margarita flight, just the right amount to split (or have to yourself if you're up for it!). The space is warm and airy, very comfortable. Perfect spot in Assembly Row to break up the shopping! read more

I got a reservation at Salt + Stone for my anniversary dinner. They didn't do anything for us despite mentioning that, but I wasn't expecting anything anyway so I can't complain. Some restaurants acknowledge it at least, especially since I left a note in the reservation and called in earlier in the afternoon. Nonetheless, the food was decent without any wow factor. The flatbread was on the special's menu, but it was pretty dry and nothing special. The oysters, ahi tuna salad, and Chef Alex burger were ok. My burger was really soggy. While that's common, I think could be avoided by either toasting the bun or letting the patty rest a little before assembling. My 4 star is mainly for the service, which was attentive and not overbearing. The server took our oyster away without knowing we had one left, (not their fault, we left it sitting while we chatted and didn't say anything) but she came back a minute later with a singular oyster on a new plate. I thought that was a thoughtful gesture accompanied by the server apologizing very sweetly. That small gesture shows how observant, attentive, and proactive they are with turning a small mistake into a positive moment. While I wouldn't say it was anything extraordinary, I could see myself coming back for drinks with my girlfriends instead of choosing this for an anniversary or special date in the future. read more

Came to Somerville Assembly Row for a couple of errands. As I walked by Salt + Stone I decided to grab some lunch. The ambiance was so very inviting! I was immediately seated by an open window to enjoy a glorious late September day. My server Jackie was so very helpful. I asked her about a couple of things and she was spot on when she said that many people love this salad. It was beyond delicious and so perfect for a quick lunch. I opted for ice tea but If I didn't have more than a few errands yet to do, I would have loved pairing this black and blue steak salad with a Merlot or Malbec!! Close to the movie theater here so I am thinking great place for dinner drinks and a movie. Now that I found Salt + Sound I see myself coming here whenever I'm at Assembly Row. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by Salt + Stone! I really enjoyed myself, and found everything to be really great. They really brought all the flavors--from a margarita flight to crab cakes and clam chowder that did not disappoint. But the real star of the show? The tuna tartare. So fresh, so flavorful, I could've eaten two. If you're in Assembly Row and want to treat yourself, this spot is a must. I'll be ordering that tartare again next time without hesitation. read more

We stumbled upon this restaurant when looking for dinner close to our Airbnb, and it really hit the spot! Salt + Stone is located in the middle of a cute outdoor shopping center. Finding parking was a little difficult, but after circling the block for about 15-20 minutes we found parking within a couple of blocks. It was fun walking through shops on the way to and from the restaurant, and once we arrived we were seated immediately. The staff were extremely friendly and chatty. We had the baked Brie as a starter and it was fantastic. The fig jam and almonds provided a sweet, nutty flavored and paired well with the cheese and sourdough bread. We then ordered the baked Parmesan crusted cod, lobster roll, and steak salad for the table to share. The cod was surprisingly light, it tasted really creamy with the whipped potatoes. The portion was very small for this entree, even if we weren't sharing. However, the salad and lobster roll were both great portions and easy to share. The lobster roll was heavy on the lemon, delicious but a little too much for my taste. My favorite dish was the steak salad. It was a really tender, and great flavors with the blue cheese and tomatoes. All of the ingredients were really fresh, which made the salad that more refreshing. I'll be back next time I'm in Boston! read more

Walked in on a random Friday night and wasnt expecting too much, my gf had booked and Im normally the foodie that picks the place, but I went along with it and was super meh in the beginning, was seated outside in the tent (to add I was randomly freezing and dreaded sitting outside, but the heat in that tent was insane comfy and we at one point even had to ask them to turn lower)... Ok the food, we ordered EVERYTHING...We were waiting for another gf to get there so in the meantime we ordered tons waiting for her. Many apps, Everything was delish, the Brie was great. The shrimp were fresh, The chips - I could have at a million...The wings were good, we went with as is and I would order them a million times again! The flatbread was delish (Arugula is my fave) Or waiter was the best and went out of his way to be accommodating and was great to us! The Fettucine was delish, gf got the Orrichette, it was just ok to me, but good, just didnt love love. Cant wait to go back with the hubby and try the few things on the menu we missed, LOL Def go & try it all. I hear Brunch on Sundays is a go to, Might have to check that out too! read more

We had such an incredible time at salt and stone. The food was delicious, our server was amazing and the vibe was so fun. This spot has so much potential. Conveniently located in Assembly Row, the main restaurant has a great ambiance. They do have a second separate outdoor spot that has a slightly weird smell and unfinished feel/look to it. We had last minute reservations and they walked us through a mostly empty main restaurant to seat us outside. We were then informed of a 2 hour dining time. Food was average, the funghi pizza lacked seasoning and the arugula on top was straight out or a salad container - dry. Service also average. We were checked on once after food came out but then the server disappeared and we were left waiting for a while before we asked for the check. read more

The perfect cozy vibe for a rainy and cold Saturday dinner! There weren't any tables when we walked in (w/o reservation) but scored three seats at the very comfy and sleek bar nearer the back of the restaurant. GREAT bar, and bar server...she was lovely in every way, ever present filling our water glasses, and taking drink orders. (I had the Salt and Spice which was a departure for me bit the spiciness hit the spot, especially on a night like that was!). My daughter had a yummy lemon/lavender that she described as being perfect and not the typical sugar over sugar over sugar versions of Mocktails. We started w the baked Brie and it the CORRECT choice. Served in a small black cast iron pan, bubbly, crispy slivered almonds and honey...all alongside a generous portion of toasted baguette. Do it. I opted for the Pan Seared Salmon BLT. I feel as if that doesn't need much more description. A nice pile if thinly sliced dill pickles and housemade chips rounded out my dinner. My daughter ordered the SteakTips which were served with Asparagus and mashed potatoes. She ate all but 3 of them and asked to take two spears, a healthy tablespoon of potatoes and the remaining 3 tips home. My husband opted for 6 Oysters which disappeared immediately and then the teriyaki salmon. It looked like it was exactly a meal for the kind of night that it was. I was on the other side so didn't get a good look. But he DID say that it would have been amazing even without the Salmon! It was def busy, but we still felt very well served and that seevice was ever present. Don't decline a chance to sit at that amazing bar! read more

The location of this restaurant is right in Assembly Row, surrounded by food, shopping, and even outdoor activities like pickleball and volleyball on sand. Their menu and drinks were pretty simple but tasted pretty good! I don't know if I was really hungry but the first bite of fettuccine tasted like a warm pillow if that makes sense. The salmon teriyaki was also a good portion of food and the sauces weren't too salty (even though it's called salt and stone ha) the shrimp ceviche was also HUGE coming in a giant goblet with a refreshing tangy taste to go with the chips. The servers were very nice and made sure we were all doing well. We spent a bit of time just talking at the restaurant and slowly going through our food and the ambiance didn't feel rushed or hectic. We were looking for a last minute dinner reservation on a Friday night and decided to give this place a try after seeing so many 5 star reviews on google. Lesson learned to always check Yelp. First the good, the restaurant has tons of indoor and outdoor seating and the space itself is really cool. We loved the covered outdoor seating. It was pretty packed, which we took as a good sign. Service was prompt, though sterile. The music choice was also a bit strange and didn't match the ambience. Food was mediocre at best. The appetizers were good, my partner enjoyed the clam chowder and the hot crab dip was tasty. But the mains were highly disappointing. The lobster roll, which the server told us was really good, with lemon aioli was not fresh, had shell pieces, and was extremely salty yet lacking flavor; no lemon taste. The fettuccine was a very generous portion, but underwhelming flavor wise; 0 truffle flavor and a random piece of prosciutto which is not a listed ingredient. We left feeling confused by all the rave reviews. read more

I've been to Salt + Stone several times and have never had a bad experience. Their brunch is amazing, but make sure to make a reservation as they get very busy. This visit we went for some drinks and food while watching football. For a late Sunday afternoon there was a good amount of people both inside and outside with the outdoor heaters. We ordered the roasted buffalo cauliflower and butternut squash flatbread. The roasted buffalo cauliflower was great to start with however we wish that the ranch dressing was as on the side and not tossed with the buffalo sauce. As for the butternut squash flatbread, it was a great seasonal flatbread. I wish the apples were seasoned a little more and slightly softer but overall it was good. As for drinks we just got a Narragansett and Down East which hit the spot. The bartenders were friendly and for the most part attentive. Giving it three stars just because the meal was average, I'll still continue to come back. read more

I love salt and stone. Every time I come here I am always impressed with my meal and my drinks. The restaurant itself is chic and welcoming. The chairs are comfortable and even when things are busy they always seem to be able to squeeze you in. The other day we sat at the bar. I got the margarita flight which was delicious! And my friend got the boozy coffee drink. The bartender picked up on which Marg was my favorite and made sure to make me that one when we got another drink. The Buffalo wings had a great charred smoky flavor that was delicious and I got the salmon for probably the second time and this time the sauce was different than the first but just as equally delicious! Would definitely recommend if you're in the area. read more

The ambiance, service and hospitality deserve 5 stars, but I went here (for the first time actually) for brunch. The water for the tea was just warm The bread was toasted on one side only (strange!) and cold The butter was cold (and thus not easily spreadable) The eggs were scrambled with not so fresh veggies, especially the mushrooms The tater tots were unremarkable and probably zapped for 30 seconds in a microwave The avocados were actually OK This was a relatively simple meal to prepare that wasn't worth the $18. It wasn't even worth $5. I would be hard pressed to return given this experience. read more

We had never been here but saw the good reviews. We were sat promptly, at a small table, yes most of the tables here are rather tiny. Water was brought over, though no one asked if we wanted anything other than tap water. We ordered drinks they were good, my beer was fine. Appetizers came next, baked brie and spicy cauliflower. The cauliflower was quite good, not over cooked and well spiced. And the portions were large. The brie was at best average. Very bland. She ordered the blue steak salad and a huge salad with excellent steak. I order the ahi tuna, again large portions. Tuna was good but not exceptional. Chewy and the wasabi was bland to say the least. Other comments -- service from the kitchen was slow. I would have expected more for an establishment with this price point. Brings me to my last issue -- the cost. With tip it cost $125 for two people with one drink and two appetizers. Not bad, but for that I want something special. Good food, nice ambiance and a bit overpriced. read more

Came here for dinner on a Saturday evening and the spot wasn't too busy so we were seated quite quickly. The ambiance isn't too bad - feels like a modern spot with nice decor. Service was pretty bad - it took over 20 minutes for us to even get a menu or water. It's like they seated us and no one came to check on us at all - that alone sort of ruined the experience in my opinion. Once we finally got service, things were okay, albeit still a little slow. The food was all right - definitely pricy. Oysters were solid, chowder was yummy, wings were good, although the portion was small. For entrees, my salmon was decent, although nothing too special. Overall, I probably won't come back anytime soon. Service was just so poor and the food was mediocre at best, unfortunately. read more

I went with my fiancé and our dog since they are pet friendly, and have a cute pet menu. We ordered salmon for our dog, a flatbread (this was really good and a decent size) and two burgers for ourselves, medium. I had the classic burger with chips and my fiancé opted for the pineapple burger with a Caesar salad side (+ $2). Let's just say our dog had a better meal than we did. BOTH burgers came out like hockey pucks and the side Caesar that we paid extra for was completely forgotten. It took over 15 minutes for the salad to eventually come out. I ended up sending my burger back only for a new one to be returned the complete same way: hockey puck. At this point, we asked for the check so we could get the heck out of there and eat elsewhere. The server had the nerve to present the bill with every single item on it, including the hockey pucks. We had to ask to have at least one of the burgers removed from the bill. She was able to remove the charge but I'm honestly shocked she didn't comp both burgers and the Caesar side salad by now. Obviously a chef problem on the meal portion, but she had the chance to save the day and comp something unprompted and couldn't even do that. She reluctantly offered a complimentary dessert as we were already standing and on our way to leave. Bad food, mid service, but cute decor! read more

We only had the wine because the service was so terrible. We asked for the dryest red and was told I don't know and then they recommended the most expensive wine (which we did not order) We then were going to order appetizers and asked if the truffled deviled eggs had mustard to which the server again answered I don't know and then said I don't think so. When we tried to order the halibut we were told they didn't have that so at that point we decided to leave as the service was lacking and nothing on the menu looked good. Very disappointing! When we gave feedback on open table the manager came back and lied and said we were given samples of the wine which was not true and that the staff was trained to know all of their ingredients and that the truffled eggs did have mustard (not listed on their menu nor did their server know). Bad service and bad, lying, management who could learn a lesson in service recovery! Response to owner. This is true. You said you offered samples and we chose the wine from there which is not true. My mom asked for the driest red he said he didn't know and then another bartender said the most expensive wine by the glass which was a $17 Cabernet and we wound up ordering due to my suggestion the Toscana without sampling anything as you said. I suggest you review your receipts before calling your guests liars. read more

Promise you can't go wrong with it. Their chips, fries and pesto aoli were also good additions! We tried all the oysters they had available as well. Small, briny, refreshing, delicious. we each had a different drink and did love them all. Wow, has Assembly Row changed! We stopped in here as we needed a fast bite before an airport pickup, and glad we did. There is plenty of free parking, up to 3 hours I believe, which makes this very convenient. As others have mentioned, there is a nice outdoor patio, and a big busy and energetic dining room with lots of natural light. We had a nice waitress and found the service to be good, fast and efficient. Cocktails tasted good, but we felt were very light on alcohol as compared to most restaurants. We opted for a mix of small/appetizer plates, and found they were good overall. The deviled eggs were tasty and a generous portion for the price. Our "hot" dishes were really not that hot temperature wise, and more to the luke warm temperature, which was surprising. Perhaps the kitchen rushed them out. French onion soup would have been great, had it been served hot. Crab dip was a bust. Again, should have been hot and only luke warm, but the crab used had an excessively tinny flavor, which we did not find appealing, and left this dish mostly uneaten. I cook with crab a bit, and know this can happen, it just depends on the crab used. It was unfortunate, as I think it could have been a tasty dish. I see others mention that the crab dip was not good. We ordered a takeout pulled pork sandwich to bring to the airport as our arriving passenger was hungry and did not have time to stop for food. He said it was pretty good, lots of BBQ sauce which he thought was a bit on the sweet side. Your mileage may vary here, but I think overall the food was good, with a few hits and misses. read more

I can't say much about the food here because we made a reservation but then left because the staff were unwilling to accommodate us. We walked in and it was so nice, including the vibes only to be flat out disappointed. We had called ahead of time with a big party for oyster happy hour and made sure that it was okay to still be able to have the oysters not at the bar, especially because we had such a huge party. However, as soon as we were seated, the staff immediately said that oysters were only available at the bar and that were no seats for us at the bar. We saw plenty of seats, but regardless, we wanted a table and had asked ahead of time, but they were unwilling to accommodate us. We were also gonna order other food in addition to the oysters, so it was extremely frustrating and upsetting that the one thing we checked ahead of time was incorrectly relayed to us. There was nothing to be done except to leave. It was obviously the staff on the phone's fault, but in general, they lost a bunch of customers because this was the one thing we were looking for and they couldn't help us. read more

I've lived at Montaje upstairs for five years now, and Salt and Stone used to be my go-to restaurant, the one I always recommended to everyone. Tonight, I decided to take my family there for my sister's birthday, but my husband and I were running a bit late. As soon as we arrived, my parents, who are immigrants, were visibly uncomfortable. They told me they had mentioned to our waitress Carly that our water pitcher was empty, so they handed it to the waitress, but she responded with negative attitude. Later, when they asked her for an extra cup for our table, she gave them attitude again. My parents were confused and hurt by her behavior. While she was polite once we arrived and for the rest of the meal, the entire atmosphere had already been affected by her attitude, which completely changed the mood of the evening. I used to remember Salt and Stone having great food, staff, and service, but now, it's just not worth the price they charge. We won't be coming back. read more
