Great place for any occasion! Whether you want to grab a quick drink, have brunch, lunch or dinner this is your place! I went yesterday and sat at the bar for a beer and they have plenty on tap. I opted for the blueberry beer which was $8 and got the pepperoni pizza to share with my partner. The pizza was too good I forgot to get a picture! It had hot honey sauce on it which was the perfect pairing! They have their own pizza oven so we knew the pizza was gonna be good! Our bartender was really nice and great at helping me pick out a beer that I liked. We got there in happy hour. HUNGRY. Folks were really nice, especially our server, Sandra. She was more focused on taking care of two older folks than we sometimes get. We had a guacamole appetizer and two interesting brews, taking our time for the kitchen to open. While we waited, Katrina, the manager came over to chat. It was like visiting old friends. Finally, we told Sandra that we were going to share a pasta dish so instead of bringing the plate and two side plates, she had the kitchen make it as two smaller plates. This is a great old building in what I believe is the old part of town, rustic and funky enough to force you to relax and enjoy. Clearly people like coming here because it was packed when we got inside. We stumbled upon this happening spot after finishing the Freedom Trail. The wait was about 40 minutes, but I found a spot on the bar and about 5 minutes later was able to get another seat for my partner at the bar with me. The bartenders were very nice and quick to put in an order. My Aperol spritz was very refreshing and exactly what I needed. We ordered the clam chowder which was awesome. They definitely put their twist to the normal style clam chowder, by adding little chunks of bacon and topping it off with paprika crackers which all blended beautifully together. Oh baby!!! Those birria breakfast tacos... these bad boys were NEXT LEVEL. The flavors were incredible between the braised short ribs, cheese, eggs, avocado, and consommé ... it was probably one of the best brunch dishes I've ever had. The bar area and overall restaurant is dark and cozy with a view of the large pizza oven. We started with the Street Corn Arancini, 6 to an order and delicious. Dinner included a pepperoni pizza, smash burger, pizza shop chop salad, sirloin tips and seared scallops. All were tasty, especially the pizza that was nicely charred. For dessert we shared two items. Doughnuts that were chocolate filled and espresso anglaise on side, it was ok. The other dessert was the Fluffernutter Trifle. First visit to the Monument Restaurant and Tavern. It was not what I expected....in a positive way. First off, upon entry, the room is dark and cozy, which we loved. The bar was the full length of the right hand side of the restaurant and very busy! It was a Friday night so we didn't expect anything less. We were seated after waiting for approx. 15 minutes. The large pizza oven is sort of the center of the restaurant as it can be seen from many seats/tables. We ordered some drinks and the cornbread app, which was incredible. We could have eaten 2 more, easily. The maple butter taste was perfect....not too much, not too little.....just right! For dinner, we ordered the smash burger with mashed potatoes and tacos. I gave the smash burger an A. Two patties cooked medium-well, with onion and lettuce with a grilled roll....fantastic! The tacos were the same....2 in total and plenty for dinner...good size. We did not get dessert....although some of the desserts passing our table looked inviting. Service was solid, even though it was busy. Price was fair. Parking is available on Main Street and in front of Whole Foods, if you can't find any closer. We will definitely be back. Next time for lunch. I am surprised that it took us this long to visit. I'm not from the area but have been to this establishment twice. The servers are friendly and helpful. My water cup was never empty and they were refilling our drinks constantly. (Highly recommend the iced coffee). The food was amazing. I ordered the steak and cheese sandwich. When I took that first bite the flavor from the peppers on this sandwich overwhelmed my tastebuds in a way I have never experienced. Three months ago, my friends and I dropped by this place for brunch. There is street parking or you can also park in the Whole Foods plaza as well. The restaurant was definitely lively. There was a big brunch spread and I finally decided to try out the steak burrito. The burrito consisted of chile-rubbed shaved ribeye, fried egg, tater tots, avocado, pico de gallo, sriracha, and smashed potatoes. It came with a side of french fries and a garden salad. I thought the flavor of the burrito was a bit bland, and the fries were a bit soggy. Service was friendly and attentive but I wouldn't go out of the way to come here for brunch. read more

We were on a family get together and wanted to try a new area favorite. We made our reservations on Open Table to secure a time around 7:45pm hoping to miss some of the dinner crowd. I had broken my foot earlier in the week and was hoping not to be waiting long. Unfortunately, when we arrived there were several groups waiting and the place was hopping. We ended up waiting almost 45 min to be seated even with our reservation. They tried to make up for it with a free appetizer and apologized, which we appreciated, but were still frustrated and I was considering leaving due to having to stand the entire time. There was no where to sit and it was cold outside. I am so glad we decided to stay! The place a great vibe and after finally being seated we ordered a variety of items and enjoyed everything. The smash burger was excellent, the fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The side salad and house dressing was amazing!! I wish I would have asked for the recipe. Absolutely delicious! Our waitress was friendly and efficient once seated. The chefs in the kitchen were busy, busy and I love watching all the other amazing dishes coming out to the tables. I really wanted to give this a 5 star, but unable to due to the long wait. Loved the broccoli salad, that was a big hit with me. My partners had a burger which he liked. The service was good, no problems, seated quickly during the week for lunch. The restaurant is rustic, lofty look. Lots of beer options, bet it is packed on the weekend nights. We want to come back for a pizza as they have a pizza oven, a good sign. Brunch menu looks pretty good. I would try this and if you are driving figure out where to park, not parking lot, much like most of the city. The best restaurant in Charlestown!! I love this place both for takeout and dining in, the menu changes so frequently and everything on it is so reliably delicious. I recently visited on a Friday night with some out-of-town family and everyone was blown away by everything we ordered. The favorites of the evening were definitely the spicy blackberry marg, wild mushroom cavatelli (seriously, this is a must try), and seared skirt steak with Mexican street corn. The portions here are also really generous, so we were enjoying leftovers for the rest of the weekend. I eat here quite frequently, so some of my other favorites include: - Salmon Poke bowl - Lemon Rosemary wings - Chicken sandwich (they rotate the toppings frequently and it's always delicious) - Gnocchi bolognese Great cocktails, even better food. Last year, my friend and I visited the Monument Restaurant on a scouting mission for a senior group event we were in charge of. We went on a Tuesday around 2:00 PM. The restaurant was not crowded. We ordered a pizza with no extra toppings. We both agreed that the pizza was the best we ever had. The receptionist and the waitress were first rate, friendly and organized. About 2 weeks before our event, I called to make a reservation for 10-15 people for the Sunday Brunch at 12:30 PM. I was told they were all booked, and I should call at least a month in advance. In 2025, another group event we were in charge of was occurring on 3/9/25. This time I called at least a month in advance, and I booked a reservation at 12:30 PM on 3/9/25 for 10-15 people. Around mid -February, we had a count of 17 people. I called the Monument, and they said OK and they were very pleasant. We ended up with 14 people attending the Sunday Brunch. The receptionist was very pleasant and accommodating. The restaurant was full, not an empty seat. Our waitress was excellent. Separate checks? No problem. THE FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING! The only issue was the noise of a fully packed restaurant. Acoustic baffling is needed when the Monument is full. read more

This is a good restaurant. There were four of us and all of us loved our meals and drinks. I had the Nashville hot chicken with pimento cheese. It was flavorful but I couldn't tell that it was brined as stated on the menu. My husband loved his chicken pesto panini and it was huge. Our friend liked his Cubano sandwich but has had better. Our other friend at her entire burger. She's a petite person who barely finishes her food. So that lets you know how good the burger was. Nice casual neighborhood bar/restaurant vibe with elevated food offering that goes well above the typical burger and nacho offerings. Service both times was really good and the inside has a really nice old feel with a fresh feeling. The salmon poke bowl and Nashville hot chicken dip are both scrumptious. If I could do it all over again I'd stick to the classic menu options instead. Kungpao Brussel sprouts were just OK too- nothing to write home about. Drinks were average as well. Pork Carnitas Hash (5/5): Pork carnitas was very well seasoned & moist. Didn't use the hollandaise sauce b/c the dish was good enough by itself. Was slightly worried about portion size when they brought it out, but it was really filling and I was completely full by the last bite. Steak Burrito (4/5): Ribeye is fresh, eggs, avocado, and tater tots - very good combination. The tap beer selection is good and they pour a good draft. The food is pretty solid but salty for sure and the menu hasn't changed a whole lot since it opened. The pizza is better at Brewers Fork. I used to give this place 5* and would go almost weekly, but the bartenders have flipped over and now you don't actually get a bartender making your $15 cocktail. The manhattans get heavy on vermouth, some of their signature cocktails are just booze with a juice and a squeeze of fruit juice and the bartenders get the ratios way wrong sometimes . The 'Espresso' martini is just cold brew coffee with kahlua and vodka... Tradesman across the street at least brews the espresso fresh. The restaurant group is spread really thinly and has spread their more experienced people out to Waverly and Prima, which is great btw.... But Monument needs some major attention. read more
