Working in Charlestown (though not close enough to here), I needed something different from the usual. Was recommended this by my friend and ordered delivery and it was so worth it. Tried: Sweet Potato Crunchwrap Supreme (great) Chicken Shawarma Dip (good) Chunky Guacamole (good) Nashville Hot Chicken Pizza (amazing) Excited to try in person and more of the menu, top notch spot in Charlestown.

Just old enough and funky enough to make us comfy.

We got there in happy hour. HUNGRY. Folks were really nice, especially our server, Sandra. She was more focused on taking care of two older folks than we sometimes get. We had a guacamole appetizer and two interesting brews, taking our time for the kitchen to open. While we waited, Katrina, the manager came over to chat. It was like visiting old friends. Finally, we told Sandra that we were going to share a pasta dish so instead of bringing the plate and two side plates, she had the kitchen make it as two smaller plates. This is a great old building in what I believe is the old part of town, rustic and funky enough to force you to relax and enjoy. We're on a cruise that ends back in Boston August 6th and we plan to go back for something different this time.

Spur of the moment choice for brunch, so glad we landed here. The house Bloody Mary's were just what we needed to get started, paired with the Chicken Enchilada Dip and tajin spiced tortilla chips. Absolutely delicious! Our entrees were the Fried Chicken Biscuit and Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Both equally tasty. Our server, Frankie D was wonderful! Overall, all the boxes were checked. Great food, drinks, service, and a warm welcoming atmosphere.

The pancakes were lemony and served with the best honey ricotta. The pancakes were 100000% the best dish of the day and I couldn't recommend them more! They were not overly sweet and the ricotta added a savory note. The eggs Benedict had an amazing rosemary hollandaise that I could have eaten with a spoon. The breakfast burrito was LOADED with shaved ribeye. The burrito would have been even better if it was served with a spicy sauce or maybe an avocado crema? But still amazing. The side potatoes were so big that were almost not cooked all the way and were dry. I think they were going for a smashed crispy potato but they just were too big so I did not eat any of those. The inside was a classic American vibe and the service was great. Our waitress was super super kind

Food: This place is phenomenal. Their breakfast pizza was delicious. Their dough was so good, super warm and perfect comfort food. We also good drinks and they were good as well. If you want to split the dishes, they also do it for you. Service: Food was pretty fast for a busy Sunday afternoon (came at like 1:30pm). Suggest making a reservation in advance. Ambiance: It is fun inside and I would totally come back again for brunch or for dinner! The bathrooms were clean as well.

Great atmosphere with fantastic weekly specials! Items we ordered as of 12/2023: - French Onion Soup - $12: Really great deep onion flavors with this. Would recommend although I wish there was more cheese. - Baby Caesar - $14: Really enjoy the anchovies they include here (wish more places offered it) - Sirloin Steak Tips - $33: Great tender steak which pairs well with the sweet onions and mashed potatoes. The pepper is HOT though so don't bite into it thinking that it's a normal red pepper! - Sweet Chili Pulled Pork Ramen - $24: Their weekly Wednesday night ramen special! Pulled pork was tender with just enough sweetness that goes well with their broth! Noodles were just a wee bite overdone but otherwise was delicious!

Stopped in the Monument Restaurant for a quick bite and drinks. Late lunch/snack is a limited menu from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Decent menu with apps and piz Rustic, open roomy tavern. Greeted by the hostess. Friendly and professional. Seated at a spacious comfy booth for six with plenty of elbow room. Excellent waitress, Cassidy, friendly, courteous, attentive and professional. Ordered the apps, wood fire roasted chicken wings, chunky guacamole and chicken enchilada dip. The chips were the best! Fresh and tasty. Spicy sausage and pepperoni pizzas. All were absolutely delicious, fresh and prepared perfectly. Highly recommend. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu.

Clearly people like coming here because it was packed when we got inside. We stumbled upon this happening spot after finishing the Freedom Trail. The wait was about 40 minutes, but I found a spot on the bar and about 5 minutes later was able to get another seat for my partner at the bar with me. The bartenders were very nice and quick to put in an order. My Aperol spritz was very refreshing and exactly what I needed. We ordered the clam chowder which was awesome. They definitely put their twist to the normal style clam chowder, by adding little chunks of bacon and topping it off with paprika crackers which all blended beautifully together. Oh baby!!! Those birria breakfast tacos... these bad boys were NEXT LEVEL. The flavors were incredible between the braised short ribs, cheese, eggs, avocado, and consommé ... it was probably one of the best brunch dishes I've ever had. Overall, I highly recommend checking this place out. Definitely get the birria breakfast tacos! I would definitely recommend to make reservations ahead of time. The lively vibe would be a fun place to come with a bunch of friends or/and family.

I absolutely love Monument. It is so cozy and the food is casual, yet delicious. The service is always great! You will need to make a reservation most nights (100% on weekends) in advance - it is always busy!!! 10/10 try the smash burger

First time at Monument Tavern was a fun time for a party of five. We arrived at 5:00 pm and were seated right away. The bar area and overall restaurant is dark and cozy with a view of the large pizza oven. We started with the Street Corn Arancini, 6 to an order and delicious. Dinner included a pepperoni pizza, smash burger, pizza shop chop salad, sirloin tips and seared scallops. All were tasty, especially the pizza that was nicely charred. For dessert we shared two items. Doughnuts that were chocolate filled and espresso anglaise on side, it was ok. The other dessert was the Fluffernutter Trifle. A peanut butter and banana cheesecake, filling with toasted peanuts, graham cracker, and brûléed fluff, it was very good and a nice way to end the meal

First visit to the Monument Restaurant and Tavern. It was not what I expected....in a positive way. First off, upon entry, the room is dark and cozy, which we loved. The bar was the full length of the right hand side of the restaurant and very busy! It was a Friday night so we didn't expect anything less. We were seated after waiting for approx. 15 minutes. The large pizza oven is sort of the center of the restaurant as it can be seen from many seats/tables. We ordered some drinks and the cornbread app, which was incredible. We could have eaten 2 more, easily. The maple butter taste was perfect....not too much, not too little.....just right! For dinner, we ordered the smash burger with mashed potatoes and tacos. I gave the smash burger an A. Two patties cooked medium-well, with onion and lettuce with a grilled roll....fantastic! The tacos were the same....2 in total and plenty for dinner...good size. We did not get dessert....although some of the desserts passing our table looked inviting. Service was solid, even though it was busy. Price was fair. Parking is available on Main Street and in front of Whole Foods, if you can't find any closer. We will definitely be back. Next time for lunch. I am surprised that it took us this long to visit. We left very impressed! PS: They do have a decent amount of outside seating, as well. I loved the candle light on each table....nice touch!

PROS: This was a very nice bar that had a rustic look to it. the staff was nice, good food, strong menu variety, they take reservations, prices were also solid. There's a parking lot nearby at Whole Foods so you don't need to park on the street CONS: They only have two 1 person bathrooms which can cause a lineup of people OVERALL: I highly recommend you come to this bar. Despite the bathroom issue this is top notch compared to others in the area

Gluten free grilled cheese with fries

The food was delicious, service was on point, and the vibe/atmosphere was great. We'll definitely be going back.

What kind of dressing & cheese is on the side salads that come with burgers/sandwiches?

It's their house lemon poppyseed vinaigrette and there is no cheese on the side salad.

Is there parking or should I uber?

Resident parking is only m-f in Charlestown so anyone is able to park on the weekends on side streets. There's also a middle school, the Edwards, not far away you can park at evenings and weekends.

Our table was right next to a huge wood-fired oven where we could see the fresh table bread being made which was pretty cool. We ordered 3 items off the menu, 2 appetizers (Aushak and Mantwo) and 1 main dish (lamb kebab). I've never had Afghan food before, so the ingredients and flavors used in each dish were very unique to me, but everything worked very well. The Aushak in particular was the most surprising.. they called it "ravioli", but it was more dumpling-esque to me, which an interesting bolognese-like sauce with yogurt. You wouldn't think those flavors would work together but they really do. The Mantwo also paired very nicely with the Aushak, with more of an earthy taste to it. The lamb kebab was also very tasty, though it wasn't anything super unique. The free bread for the table was also a surprising highlight, as we got to try various different dipping sauces (which we then also used to supplement the kebab). Service was attentive, the ambiance of the restaurant was nice, and overall really enjoyed our dinner here.

My favorite thing in the whole meal was the fresh wood fire-baked bread they give you at the beginning, with butter and three dipping sauces - it reminds me of a cross between a crispy pita, naan, and lavash. We got two appetizers: the baked pumpkin with yogurt and meat sauce, as well as the eggplant version. It was an interesting meld of flavors and textures, sweet and meaty, not the dish I'd normally go for but worth trying. Also ordered the kebab platter for two, which came with three types of meats (beef, lamb, and chicken), as well as the two kinds of rice (one plain, the other with carrots, cinnamon, and raisins) and a small salad of tomato and cucumber. Believe me when I say we left this meal beyond stuffed. I'm normally not a fan of lamb with how gamey it can taste but their lamb was wonderfully tender and tender. Couldn't leave here without trying the saffron/rosewater ice cream and baklava. Parking: lots of 2-hour meter spots right outside.

I loved the historical aspect of it and the fact it has so much history including George Washington having drinks here. Have to love the historical buildings that have been in operation for so long in the New England region. At least late at night it had dive bar vibes and had more people than I expected for a late night Monday. We grabbed a table for our party of 5 and bartender brought us the drinks menus. They had a great variety available and we all were able to enjoy two drinks before they closed. My wife enjoyed two blood orange margaritas and I had a grey tea old fashioned and a take on an espresso martini that featured an addition of Guinness in it. All of the cocktails were well made with friendly service from the bartender. Due to stopping in for late night drinks I cannot speak to the food. I would definitely return for both the drinks and overall vibes. Our entire party loved the music selection being played too. Worth your time to visit for sure!

It felt like history the moment we walked in: cozy, warmly lit, with worn wood that's clearly seen centuries. Our server, Cookie, was a gem- he was pleasant and attentive without hovering. Food-wise, it was mostly a miss. The oysters (which we found out were from NY ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) were puny. My kid's clam chowder- that's made without bacon was too thick and floury. The fried calamari, though, had a standout tangy, spicy glaze that we loved- but the coating was on the thick side. The vibe is nice as was the service- just wished the food was better.
