Delicious matcha soft serve (super smooth, not too sweet), reasonable prices and you can add toppings too! I went with cornflakes which added a nice textural crunch! It was pretty busy inside but they prepared all the orders quickly! Space inside is small so there may not always be seating.
Cool spot with creative matcha deserts. I had the matcha parfait and while I wouldn't get again as was too much, I enjoyed it a lot, especially the red bean. Would come back to explore menu.
Tried the Kyo Matcha towel cake and it was really good. Not too sweet which is honestly an elite Asian compliment. I do not usually go for matcha desserts but this one was light, soft, and not overpowering at all. It actually made me want to try more matcha stuff.
Loved this place! Im not even a matcha fan but i was wowed. The floats are good value imo-- 8.50 for basically two desserts, first the soft serve float and then the latte. The hojicha soft serve was incredible and I loved the latte too. Do note that they use thin petal shaped pieces of ice throughout the latte to support the ice cream. So the latte is going to be 80% ice. However, the liquid in the latte is extremely concentrated to make up for this, so I recommend breaking up the ice and dissolving it a bit to really enjoy the latte as much as possible. The place was busy and some tabletops/chairs were sticky. There was some outdoor seating but it was a bit uncomfortable in the cold. It also took a while to get our drinks. The line is long but a kiosk is available to skip the line!
The ambiance was quite nice with cool decor and service moved pretty fast. Unfortunately, the giant matcha roll dessert was underwhelming and had a very foreign taste to it even though I've had matcha in Japan before. Probably just not the right taste profile for me unfortunately.
Such good matcha and creative spins. Hojicha also good, strawberry isn't whole strawberry kinda of grounded up. Had rotating favor of the month.
Has ice cream, drinks and pastry items, all with match or Asian flavors~ very cute and easy to spot, and busy. Location is small and first come, first serve seating/tables. Our drinks were prepared quickly! I ordered the match red bean latte with oat milk, bobba topping and iced. My partner got the matcha latte with whole milk. My drink was sweet but not too much, with the sweetness coming from the red bean pieces and bobba. The match is delicious~ perfect. My partners drink is very good. No bad comments about our treat! Tables could be cleaner and properly sipped down more often, but a good spot for a solid matcha drink~ my rating is high for the quality and taste of the matcha, which is a huge part of their brand.
We ordered two ice cream bowls with shots of espresso and Matcha on top. Each of these was a twist and not necessarily what they had on the menu, which I guess led to the staff becoming very mixed up, and needing to remake both of our ice creams. Surface was also very slow, and there is not much seating on the inside, and there is a line out the door. Even outside, seating is hard to come by. The ice cream itself is very, very nice, especially the red bean at the bottom as an add-on. I would say the ice cream is not terribly sweet, but works very very well with the extra sweet red bean. I would consider getting takeout from here, if I didn't think it would melt quickly.
The most amazing matcha! You can tell the matcha here is quality compared to other places. It's so good it's hard to get matcha anywhere else. I got the original matcha latte and jasmine matcha latte. They also have matcha icecream and it was thickly and creamy. Service is quick and friendly. They also have a self kiosk to order on your own. They're always busy but knock out the line quickly. The shop is clean and bright with lots of seating.
Great matcha. Love the ice cream with the Oreo and mochi. Good amount of seating. The crepe was excellent and soft. Would come by any time I'm craving matcha.
Rating: 4.3 Came to try due to recommendation by a friend. It's a matcha focused tea shop that also offer soft serve, bubble tea, mille crepe cake, parfait and more. I'm assuming that the name kyo comes from kyoto which is known for matcha. It was busy inside but service was quick. Inside is pretty small and only has few seatings. Outside seatings are also available. We ordered matcha latte and matcha red bean latte with boba. The tea was ready within minutes and they were pretty good. I didn't get the matcha soft serve but i assume it's good as well. Overall a solid spot especially for matcha lovers. Would come back when i'm in the area and maybe try their soft serve or combine it with tea.
The Hojicha latte with Matcha ice cream float was exactly what I was craving - earthy, slightly smoky, and perfectly balanced in sweetness (as any good Asian dessert should be). The flavors were spot on, and the presentation was beautiful. My only complaint was the amount of ice. For nearly $10, it felt like I got more ice cubes than tea, which was pretty disappointing. As much as I loved it, I'm not sure the portion justifies the price.
the hojicha float and banana matcha were good and the location was conveniently next to other food spots. a great place to stop by after a walk around boston!

Kyo matcha has amazing matcha cakes, soft serve, and drinks. I've tried their matcha towel cake (similar to crepe cake but rolled) and matcha soft serve. read more
Located next to Kyuramen, this place caught my daughters' eyes and they went in to order the matcha cheese mousse cake and the ujicha float to share. You use a touchscreen to order and pay and they announce your number when it's ready. Both orders were delicious. The float had boba on the bottom and was filled to the brim so they had to eat the soft serve down a bit before being able to put a boba straw in. The matcha cheese mousse cake has a layer of azuki beans on the bottom, multiple layers of subtle complimentary flavors. Yummy dessert for after your ramen! Highly recommend! read more
Came by for dessert the other night and it was a mediocre experience. Had my eyes set on the milk soft serve cone for $6 and it became $7.5 on the ordering tablet inside the shop. When I attempted to check out on the kiosk, there was a $0.25 convenience fee and I had to input my phone number in order to check out?!? Ordered with the staff and there was no need for a phone number or the $0.25 convenience fee... The staff put on a glove before making my ice cream. The milk flavored ice cream looked great but only tasted so-so. It wasn't a Cremia like I would find in Japan. This felt like a Chinese-owned chain with inconsistent pricing and hidden fees. read more

This is the best matcha cafe in Boston! I love how cute the inside of the shop is (even though it's small) and the matcha here is fire! It's in a good area as it's near an H-mart and some good nearby restaurants. Street parking is relatively easy to find. It's a chain, but they serve awesome ice cream, tea, cake, latte, and slush drinks. Last time I was there, they had some really unique cakes including a matcha tiramisu cake and a mango crepe cake. My favorite items on the menu are their ice cream (matcha, vanilla, hojicha), parfait (has corn flakes for a nice crunchy texture, delicious red bean, and tasty rice mochi) and ube tower cake. You can order at the front from an employee or a self service kiosk. There are two gender neutral bathrooms in the back. Also, there are utensils and a glass water jar near the food pickup area. The tables are small and mostly for two people, but they do have outside seating available. They had EDM music playing in the background. Overall, I'll be back here to get my matcha fix! read more

Some of the best matcha I have ever had! Kyo Matcha combines my two favorite things. Ice cream and matcha! The inside is super cute and green with just a few small areas to sit. The staff here are super friendly and move out the orders super quick even with the super long lines. I ordered a matcha float with red bean and mochi and oh my gosh it was so good I could have cried. It was so creamy and fresh and the matcha flavor was so rich!! I cannot wait to come back here when I come to Boston next!!!! read more

For a place that specializes in matcha (assumed by name), they do like to skimp. Was also unimpressed by the matcha flavor, which may be correlated with the lack of matcha used. Soft serve on the other hand, was delicious. I'd probably recommend skipping drinks here and just going for soft serve. Matcha Latte Float - absurd amount of ice, more than i've seen anywhere. I figure there's a recipe but that means they're skimping on the matcha and filling the cup to mislead. Matcha latte was quite mild, watered down and not much flavor. Ice cream was great though! Creamy and flavorful. Maybe they should just melt their matcha ice cream for a better flavor. After finishing, the ice quite literally piled to the top of the cup. read more

I had the matcha ice cream in a cup and the matcha towel. The matcha ice cream was topnotch, high recommend. However, the matcha towel cake wasnt as prominent as it looked like. The service was quick and easy. The place is a little small but eating outside is a lot better especially during the summer. read more
I haven't tried this place for a very long time purely because I didn't want to wait in a long line! I decided to stop by on a weekday about 15 minutes after their opening time. There were already other customers inside, and even after I ordered, I still waited about 10-15 minutes for my item because there were a lot of takeout/delivery orders to fulfill. I got a matcha float ($8) with a matcha-milk swirl on top. The matcha soft serve had a decently nutty tea flavor and wasn't too sweet. I actually liked the milk flavor more, which was very creamy! I got the matcha tea without any sweetener to taste the tea. While I definitely felt the caffeine in the tea, the flavor itself was pretty mild. I would expect the flavor to be even more mild if I had gotten a latte or added sweetener to the matcha. I look forward to trying their hojicha flavor and some of their other soft serve flavors next time. read more

So tasty!! If you're a matcha lover like me, you'll love this spot too. They have a wide variety of sweet treats all centered around their high quality matcha flavors. I highly recommend the soft serve; it has a perfectly light matcha taste that's both sweet and refreshing! Additionally, the self-ordering allows for fast service and, although there's a small interior, it doesn't seem too crowded even when it's busy. We had no problem finding a table. This spot is honestly great to visit with friends, and they're open late so it's a fun place for a little night time dessert run! The atmosphere are clean, vibey, and so fun! read more

Yum! Matcha, so yummy! I got the parfait with matcha icecream. Its got that hint of matcha bitterness and so creamy! If you like a sweeter icecream toppings, the brown hochi icecream tastes like brown sugar but is toasted matcha. Mochi is super soft chew! And the crunchiness of the flakes and soft fluffy matcha cake with red bean. All so delicious!! Cant wait for next time! read more
Popped in here after dinner. Long productive day and since it was close by to where we were for the day, we thought let's check out the hype! The space is small, has wall seating with little dinner tray style tables in between every other seat so friends can share the space along the wall. There is also a window counter seating and like 2 tables! We opted for matcha/milk combo ice cream soft serve with cone, and ube + hojicha flavored one. They made it extremely fast, getting a cup cost extra (these days everything does) The matcha milk swirl i got was good but i couldn't finish it. The matcha ice cream definitely had a more earthy note compared to their competitors in the same space (probably less sugar mixed in haha) and the milk soft serve was nice! Wish they had more waffle cone style instead of traditional cone only. The ube was sweet and yummy, hojicha roasted matcha was definitely not my cup of tea but the lady enjoyed it overall. Cute shop would stop back in if in the area, parking is always easy even during busy nights. read more

My partner and I visited Kyo Matcha during the afternoon to pick up a drink for a walk around the city and this was perfect! I ordered the matcha brûlée with 50% sweetness, the sweetness was on point and exactly what I wanted, it was creamy while still maintaining a strong matcha flavor! 10/10, I'd love to come back next time I'm in Boston to try their other drinks! read more

Second time here this week! Just moved from the Bay Area and I've been trying to find my new matcha spot. Out of the 5 spots I've tried, I'm the past 3 weeks, this has been my favorite by far. It's a little out the way for me, but will definitely be back!! Service: 10/10. Drinks come out fast. My first time, I ordered an iced matcha latte with regular sweetness and it was too sweet for me. They kindly made me a new drink. 50% sweetness was perfect for me! Also, love that they actually whisk the matcha powder with every order rather than using a prepared concentrate solution. Taste: 10/10. I usually have to ask for extra matcha, but this was the perfect taste. Ambiance/location: Beautiful storefront with plenty of seating. Located right by the green line and accessible by many bus routes. read more
Cute matcha spot, has a lot of patio seating and a few small tables inside. The place is nicely decorated and the menu is a lot larger than I expected. The matcha flavor on the float was a lot stronger than I expected, I really enjoyed it. The mango crepe cake appeared to be seasonal, and was also quite good. I was not a fan of the jelly part on top but it was not bad, I would still order the cake again. I would come back, the cashier was very nice and service was very quick considering it was packed. I like that they close late-ish for Boston. read more

I am not a fan of matcha, but there are other selections. I think this place is just hyped for Instagram. The drink prices are okay, and the dessert prices are not too expensive for the portion. I came here for a drink while waiting for my reservation. - Black Sesame Latte and Matcha Latte The drinks aren't sweet, and they contain 50% sugar. I came back again after my dinner to order desserts to go. - Black Sesame Mousse Cake I am not a mousse cake person, but this black sesame cake was good. The sesame taste could be stronger. - Ube Towel Cake There is too much cream and no flavor at all. - Strawberry Milk Cap Cake The sponge cake was soft and not too sweet, but too much cream and sweet. I might stop by for drinks but not dessert, which is not worth it. read more

I love matcha. I love soft serve. I love matcha soft serve. so clearly your girlie had to try this place. I will say, it's a pretty reliable matcha soft serve. It's definitely on the lighter side and is much sweeter than other ones I've had. If I was in the area, I'd come here because it's decent and convenient but i wouldnt drive out of the way for it. I think minado in natick (may that restaurant RIP) had a better matcha soft serve. My all time favorite though will always be the matcha cafe maiko in fenway. That place is the real deal but it's often hard to find parking. This place has plenty of meter parking available. Store is very small but very clean. It had gender neutral bathrooms which is a plus. I like the little area they set up outside to sit at a bar looking out to the street or tables for larger parties. Staff is friendly and quick to manage lines. Line moves pretty efficiently. I would recommend you check this place out if you're already in the area and want a sweet treat! 2 star knocked off because the quality wasn't what I expected for the price it's labeled with. read more

This place is so cute!!! I haven't had much matcha in my life, so I figured i'd come to try this place out. It's right next to all these busy restaurants and shops in Brookline, and was nice and busy even at 7pm. I love this area so I had to come by! I tried the Matcha Latte with Matcha ice cream, and the Matcha parfait. I went 50% sugar on the latte since I was afraid it would be too sweet, and I really wanted to taste the matcha itself. The latte was delicious, and the ice cream on top really made it taste even better. The matcha was delicious!!! The parfait was really really good, and was perfect with all the toppings, I recommend that the most. Cute place, and there is plenty of parking :) it's always busy here so enjoy the place before winter hits! read more

Kyo Matcha serves up tasty treats and desserts! Although matcha is in its name, don't be fooled; they also have some non-matcha items (which are also delicious). Kyo Matcha is a cute little spot across from the Saint Mary's Street green line stop, making it super accessible. There's also lots of street parking nearby. There's always a long line but you get your order quite quickly after placing it. My favorite items are the matcha latte and the matcha soft serve! You can taste the high quality of the matcha in every sip of the latte and every bite of the ice cream. I personally would get the matcha latte with less sweetness (maybe 50 or 70%) but that's just my preference! I also enjoy their brown sugar boba milk cap cake because of how soft the boba is which pairs with the airy/fluffiness of the cake! I like how there's outdoor seating as well since there is minimal indoor seating due to how busy they get. It can get quite crowded inside due to how many people there are. Kyo Matcha is a wonderful addition to the area; I wish it had been around when I lived nearby! Definitely would recommend giving it a try! read more
