I visit family in LA pretty often, so I've been spoiled by the endless stream of new tea spots there. Boston hasn't quite measured up - until now. Teaholic is the closest I've found to high-quality and creative tea here, offering a wide assortment of milk and fruit teas with unique toppings. The best part? When you ask for 30% sugar or less ice, your drink actually comes out that way. There's nothing worse than customizing your order only to get a drink that's still way too sweet. Yes, $8-9 for a single drink is on the steep side, but that seems to be the going rate these days. If I'm going to spend that much, I'm glad to have found a place where it tastes worth it. I absolutely love Teaholic! It's a very chill spot to grab a fun drink. I've been there a few times and there's usually a line, which is always a good sign. They have a few traditional flavors, as well as some funky ones. I'm a big fan of the Taro Boba Milk Tea, which has this taro paste in it that's super unique and adds some texture to the drink (in addition to the boba, of course). There's some indoor seating, as well as a few tables outside, but I'd recommend taking your tea to go, since the space can get a bit crowded. Good spot overall! read more

Cute little boba shop in cambridge near a bunch of biotechs between the Port and Kendall square neighborhoods. Im an old school boba guy so I generally just go with (and judge by) just a taro milk tea. But these days boba shops be doing all crazy recipes and this one is no exception. I went here twice, the first was around closing time on a Tuesday evening and they graciously took our order even though they were wiping down and cleaning up. They actually ran out of taro flavor so my wife picked out two that she read was good from 小红书 (little red book). We got the grape cheese and the strawberry matcha. All original options. I hadn't had a gen-z boba flavor in forever and holy cow these were literally an entire dessert in a cup. On one hand it's wild to experience how elevated boba tea has become and it's quite an artistic feat to actually get the ingredients layered in correctly so that when you drink you really experience the dessert-like quality as if you're eating cake or the like. On the other hand this was honestly too rich for me. I was pretty much good after the first 3-4 sips. Tastes great though. I did come back a weekend afternoon to actually get their taro milk tea. They keep it authentic and literally paste the taro around the inside of the boba cup and then fill it up with milk tea and the options you pick. I like it blended but I appreciate the real taro in there so I'm happy to swirl my boba straw around and shake the cup a bit to get the contents mixed. Wonderful flavor, the grittiness from the boba paste gives the drink a lot of character, intentional or not, and the tea itself had the right balance and the folks there did make my order to spec. There aren't that many boba shops near me in this area, and it's only a short 0.5mile walk so it's probably going to be a regular go to for me in the future tldr; charming boba shop in outskirts of Kendall near the port where there aren't many other boba shops around. Got the taro mochi 30% sugar, and it had the best taro taste I've gotten in Boston, and very very lightly sweet without losing flavor (perfect for me), and great super soft mochi texture in some sips. The coffee lattes look fantastic, and honestly so do the actual tea flavors they have too. Was super surprised at how good everything was. Staff was also absolutely lovely. So many things I'd love to try here that looked great and seem highly recommended--strawberry matcha latte, avocado mango, cheese foam, ube latte, camellia tea... guess I'll have to come back again soon. read more

They have a kiosk to order and also cashier. I ordered the Crème Brûlée Oreo Black Tea and it was so yummy. The barista torched the creme brûlée top of the drink & the black tea flavor was strong and balanced perfectly with the texture of the Oreo crumbs Drinks are fairly priced for the quality and presentation. First off, I love the aestheics of the shop, even though blue is not a color I like. The chairs are folding chairs but the backing and the seat is made out of clear or blue plastic, so that adds depth into their blue and white theme. Bobaristas gave a very welcoming hello. Love that! I saw a lot of interesting menu items such as Thai brulee milk tea and oreo matcha shake. Of course, when doing first time reviews, I need to try the basics and something fruity. I got the signature black milk tea with brown sugar boba and it's pretty good. The tea definitely has some deepness to it with a good ratio of milk to tea. The boba is chewy with a great texture. Although I wish they had regular boba. I also got the pomegranate breeze which is essentially a pomegranate tea slush. It came with chestnut popping boba, but I didn't feel like popping balls tonight so I opted out. The drink is sweet, sour, and tart; a great pomegranate drink. My husband got the caramel cookie milk tea which was milk tea with biscoff butter. I think it would have tasted better if the biscoff butter was mixed into the actual milk tea rather than just being spread on the cup. Other than that, I would love to come back and try more options. There's a smaller menu with a lot of variety and specialty drinks rather than a typical milk tea or fruit tea. The drink are a little expensive, but the sizes are also bigger than normal. The location is a little out of the way in Kendall square, but worth the walk/drive there! This is a small space with lots of natural light and many plants. As other reviewers mentioned, the employees here are kind! The prices are pretty typical of Cambridge/Boston boba shops these days and I thought the quality of the drinks I tried was quite good. We tried the Strawberry Paradise ($6.75) which was described as being similar to a strawberry frappuccino. It certainly reminded me of one but was also slightly more fruity and slightly less creamy/sweet than the Starbucks version. I've now defaulted to getting a brown sugar boba milk tea ($5.25 small) to judge new bubble tea spots. The brown sugar boba milk tea here is really good and makes me optimistic about all of their other drinks! You can actually taste the tea flavor in the milk tea which is balanced nicely with the brown sugar syrup. Nothing was overpowering in the drink. The tapioca pearls were cooked perfectly to absorb lots of brown sugar flavor while still maintaining a nice chewiness to them. They don't have too many caffeine-free options but do have milk alternatives. Highly recommend giving this spot a try! read more

The lychee flavor was not too strong and I am not sure what tea they used, but somehow I taste rose tea. This taste good, usually I don't ordered slush drinks. I've been here a few times and it's pretty hit or miss, and unfortunately I have given it enough shots to make a final decision. Last time I got the pink lychee drink and my husband got the thai brulee. No boba for either of us. Both drinks had this awful chemical aftertaste, like they had washed something with scented dish soap but the dish soap wasn't fully rinsed off. The brown sugar milk tea is okay--it will hit the spot if you have a craving but is not the best I've ever tried. The caramel cookie milk tea and tiramisu latte both seem like they would be delicious but are sad approximations of flavor. I got the thai brulee with boba once and that was actually decent. I also tried the avocado and mango on the recommendation of a friend but couldn't get behind it. The quality of boba seems better than most places in the area (see, e.g., Moge Tee or TeaDo) but the taste of the drinks just miss the mark for me. I've thrown out most of the drinks I've gotten from here because I just couldn't finish them, and most of the time I'm a huge stickler for not wasting food so . . . idk, it's just not the place for me. read more

The milk tea was made well and the bits of biscoff cookie were a nice little addition as you drink it. I would highly recommend adding boba as well, it's really good! The person taking my order was very patient and kind in explaining their sugar levels. They make the drinks fresh so there is a slight wait especially but it's so worth it. I've been here twice so far, and both times it's been a great experience. Unlike always fast paced in-a-hurry bubble tea shops, staffs here were exceptionally kind and made sure I make right choice. Their teas were also good. I wouldn't say they are unique but they had their classic flavours and also some of their creative flavours like strawberry matcha or rose green tea. I think it's actually better this way - they are not going for "instagrammable" but sticking to the classics. The space inside isn't super spacious to the point you would want to bring your work and stay here for hours, but perfect for quick hangouts with friends when the weather outside is not so great. A spectacular small boba shop added to the Cambridge area. I'm so glad I got to try this place out and came right before a huge rush of people on a Friday night. I ordered the trio milk tea and the server explained the trio was boba, pudding, and lychee jelly with the addition of whipped cream and sprinkled shaved nuts. It was a large drink, a great presentation, and quick service. This is a different trio than I expected, but I like the fruity addition of the lychee to the drink. I got the mango crush which is a slushy creation and I really like the mango bits in the drink. I also adjusted my drink to 50% sugar level and added brown sugar boba. The employee who greeted us helped us with the menu and told us about their green tea jelly made in house. I'm always down to try a new boba shop, so when I saw the great reviews for Teaholic (and the opening special deal of BOGO 1/2 off) I hopped on over. We got the brown sugar creme brulee milk tea at 70% sugar (recommended since the milk tea isn't that sweet), which was a good sugar level for this drink. The highlight was the boba! The boba is smaller than usual and perfectly chewy with good flavor (tastes like it's made in shop? But not sure). Probably the best boba balls I've tried in this area, close to Xing Fu Tang level. The creme brulee was toasted on top which made for some tasty toasted bits. This was a good drink and made me excited to try more of their boba drinks in the future. We also got the Pink Lychee (recommended 50% sugar, I would get 50-70%). I really liked that the drink had both real lychee pieces and lychee jelly. Overall I liked this drink and am looking forward to trying more of their fruit menu! The staff are super helpful and nice. There's not that much seating but they were happy to pull out additional chairs when people asked. The store is clean and pleasant and also has a bathroom. I'm really looking forward to trying more drinks from Teaholic. They have a lot of very tasty sounding options and their boba is amazing! Came here on a Saturday and there were a few people waiting for their drinks ahead of us. We placed our order of two drinks at the counter and sat at one of the tables to wait. While waiting, we witnessed multiple different parties order after us but received their drinks ahead of us. We went up to the counter to ask where our drinks were, and the employee blamed it on the fact that someone else must've taken them. That was a straight up lie, as we were watching and listening for our orders the whole time. While they called out a Passion Fruit Blast, they never called out a Peach Oolong Tea. We would've appreciated it if they admitted their mistake rather than making up some excuse. read more

I will start off by saying the service here is fantastic, and the store (including bathrooms) are very clean. However, the drinks are odd and take the aesthetic element one step too far. I placed an order for a lemon tea boba, expecting to have an average boba sized cup with regular tea and a hint of lemon... that is not what I got at all. The bobas here are HUGE. Believe it or not, TOO huge. Additionally, my lemon boba (sugar level 50%) consisted of the most acidic tea I have ever had in my life. It was hard to drink after a few sips. Additionally, the aesthetics of the drinks cross the border of pretty into not being edible. I had a WHOLE lemon in my cup. I could not even reach the boba! And my friend had ACTUAL rose petals in her rose drink... I've never seen this before. While I do love aesthetics, I felt like this was super counterproductive in terms of enjoying the actual drink.
