Came in weekday morning and was the only customer. They were blasting music which made it hard for me and my friend to hear each other. Drinks are good but note they cannot make their drinks hot.

The matcha here is so good. I love the foam on top. There aren't many options but I feel like that's because they make those drinks extremely well! Would 100% recommend, even if the line is long. It's worth it!

If you're looking for the best Matcha in Boston, let me just tell you--THIS is where you're gonna find it! I have been lucky enough to have byChae at least two times before the store opened up and EVERY SINGLE TIME I have been blown away by just how delicious this matcha truly is. You can tell from the super friendly staff and their welcoming energy that what they produce is going to be absolutely delicious and it truly is. You cannot go wrong from ANNY of their options on their menu--from the strawberry matcha to the mango sticky rice matcha-- their entire menu is delicious! I genuinely cannot wait for their store to be fully open so that everyone can get to try this amazing matcha! I really hope that they create some sort of rewards program because let me just tell you--I would be their number one!!!

Came early on a Thursday morning and there was no line! The employees are all friendly and there's plenty of seating. There's a restroom here as well. I got the mango sticky rice matcha and my friend got the strawberry matcha. Once you get past the mango and mix up the drink, you can really appreciate the matcha taste. I would definitely come back and try out more of their menu!

I really wanted to love byChae because the branding, presentation, and interior are all beautiful. The shop has a clean minimalist aesthetic, and the drinks look incredible. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves did not live up to the hype for us. We ordered the Mango Sticky Rice Matcha and the Strawberry Matcha. The Strawberry Matcha was definitely the better of the two. The strawberry puree tasted fresh and high quality, and it paired well with the milk. My biggest complaint was that the matcha itself was almost nonexistent. My fiancée and I both felt the same way. Compared to many of the specialty matcha shops that have opened around Boston this summer, the matcha flavor here was much too subtle. The Mango Sticky Rice Matcha was especially disappointing. The mango completely overpowered the drink, and I never got the sticky rice flavor or texture that the name suggests. It tasted much more like a mango latte than a matcha inspired version of mango sticky rice. One thing that also concerned me was watching drinks being prepared without gloves while handling ingredients that appeared to go directly into finished drinks. I understand gloves are not required in every situation if utensils or other food safe practices are being used, but as a customer it did make me question the food handling practices. I might be wrong, maybe that's okay with Boston's department of public health. I expected better for a cafe in Newbury. Overall, I can understand why people visit for the aesthetic and social media appeal, but if you are looking for a strong matcha experience, there are quite a few other specialty matcha shops around Greater Boston that I personally think do it better. Three stars because the presentation and atmosphere were excellent, but the drinks themselves left us wanting more. I think the drinks are priced pretty well and I wouldn't hesitate to order another Strawberry Matcha in the future, maybe just ask them to skip the garnish. Edit 8/21/26: Thank you @byChae for the thoughtful response. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain the intention behind the drinks and being receptive to the feedback. I sincerely hope you'll reconsider the Mango Sticky Rice Matcha specifically. The mango overwhelms the drink, while the matcha and sticky rice character get lost. I genuinely want to see your business succeed, so I hope you take constructive feedback beyond the influencer hype into consideration. The drink either needs a sharper matcha presence and better balance, or a name that more accurately reflects what it tastes like. This isn't it. I wish you the best with the business, I can't wait to see what comes next!

High quality matcha and well executed mango sticky rice + strawberry matcha lattes. The staff were super friendly and attentive. The ambiance is clean and nice for catching up with friends. Highly recommend!

I arrived here 15 minutes before opening because I happened to be in the area. They opened right on time and they were ready to take orders! They had 5 different drinks to choose from and they were quick. I got the Coco Cloud (I panic ordered) and it was absolutely delicious, somehow tasted like matcha ice cream even though it was coconut water based. They had multiple seats/tables indoors.

I had a really positive experience at chae's matcha truck. I went there right before he was scheduled to close for the day, and he was starting to run out of ingredients. He did a great job compensating for the fact that he was missing ingredients and I was still able to get a pretty good tasting matcha. Definitely show up early if you want to get the full experience from the full menu.

Came back twice during my Boston trip--I agree w the other reviewer that the mango sticky rice matcha was underwhelming.

I went with two scoops, black raspberry and brownie chocolate, and the brownie was killer. Rich, chocolatey, and totally worth standing outside in 30 degree weather to eat it. I devoured it without hesitation. There were so many great flavor options, and my friends all found something they loved too. It felt like one of those classic, must-stop dessert spots. Cold, delicious, and just the right amount of chaotic fun... it was wicked good.

We came for dinner and I got the turkey and brie sandwich. The brie melted in your mouth and paired perfectly with the crunchy vegetables and turkey in the sandwich. There was also a layer of fruit jam which created a salty sweet combination that was delicious. I also shared a warm custard bread pudding for dessert with a friend (be aware that you have to order this 30 minutes ahead as they bake it fresh!) which was so yummy - it was quite sweet but gooey and a lovely mixture of caramel flavors that paired nicely with the vanilla gelato. Prices are on the higher side but align with the attention that is paid to each plate! They have a super cute bookstore next to the cafe which is fun to browse. The set-up is within three stories of a house and the decor/design inside is very cozy - definitely worth checking out. On the third floor children's section there is a toy train that periodically circles the top of the room which is a fun touch too!

Heartbreaking. The bookstore is exceptional. But the cafe is absurdly expensive and the male waiter…read morewalks the fine line on rude. The wonderful waitress, Sabrina, saved this from being a one star review. First the food. You pay $15 on the kids menu for literally a scrambled egg on an unbuttered piece of toast. Nothing else on the plate. The $24 breakfast is two scrambled eggs on white toast with a few cherry tomorrows on top and a side of small meatball-looking turkey sausages. I was shocked, but since I was with my child, I didn't want to say a thing. There is absolutely NOTHING on this menu worth the cost or experience. Also, they do not pour the tea and if you ask for milk (typically served with dark teas) the waiter gives you impatient side-eye. The cafe has everything, EVERYTHING which could really make it a spectacular experience, and I can say that I will never go again or recommend. Get a muffin and coffee/tea at Tatte or Flour Bakery and skip this cafe and go straight to the book store. The bookstore is a joy.
