The Chinese name is "Juxiang Mianbao Fang聚香麵包坊". It had the taste of an old-fashioned bakery and was very cost-effective. Portuguese Egg Tart葡撻: The shop keeps the egg tarts in a warming box, which is very thoughtful. I've always preferred the cookie crust of old-fashioned Hongkongese egg tarts; they don't crumble or feel sticky in your throat. The custard filling looked a bit overbaked on the surface, but it was still smooth and creamy inside. The milk and egg flavors were qualified, and it was not too sweet. While not particularly amazing, it definitely deserved 4 stars, especially for a Cantonese person like me who hasn't had egg tarts in a long time. Hongkongese Egg Tart蛋撻: The crust is the same as the Portuguese egg tart, but the custard filling seems a bit more diluted, with a lighter milk flavor and a stronger egg flavor. People who aren't used to it might find it a bit eggy. I still prefer the former. Custard Bread奶黃包: Recommended by the owner, and it was definitely the best thing there! I ate it the next morning, but the bread was still soft, and the crust wasn't dry. The custard filling was generous, sweet, creamy, moist, and had a slightly grainy texture. Sausage Bread腸仔包: The seasoning was quite interesting, with a hint of wasabi (?). However, the sausage itself was just average, with a slightly starchy texture. Breads generally cost $2-4 each, and here four items were only $8+, enough to last me all day Important Reminder: Cash only for orders of $10 or less.
Awesome cafe & bakery with a great selection of mooncakes, pastries like egg tarts and other delicacies. Located right in the center of Boston Chinatown. Nice service and cozy interior where there are sometimes lines but it moves pretty fast. Check it out!
It's a clean, quick, stop, and shop store. When I saw the bun priced for $3.80 I felt skeptical. I had to catch a greyhound though and thought why not I want to try a baked good from Chinatown. The service was swift and I found myself out the door in two seconds. Note: the meat bun travels well! I got home and ate it as is. Even at room temperature (cold), the dough tasted pillowy and the meat was so flavorful. They added water chestnuts in it which isn't my fav tho. And one piece of Taiwanese sausage! How experimental lol!
Located at the corner, they have a lot of pastries, and they sell out closer to the end of the day on many selections. Had a great molten egg yolk bun which was different than other bakeries. The BBQ pork bun was just so-so, while beautiful on the outside, the inside lacked enough flavor and chinese BBQ sauce to make it savory- ended up being a rather dry bun. I think also associated with the Taiwan Bakery down the street (shared logos on the bags).
One of my go to bakeries in Chinatown! They consistently have great pastries, cakes, cookies, drinks, etc. Their cakes are beautifully decorated. I highly recommend their egg tarts and bbq pork buns, they're so fluffy and plentiful in filling. Workers are friendly and efficient
This place is a gem--very clean, well-stocked, and full of incredible treats. If you have a sweet tooth, you'll love their fridge section, packed with cakes, rolls, and other desserts. They also have a fantastic selection of traditional mooncakes, including Pandan, Red Bean, Sweet Potato, and Red Lotus Seed Paste. Wait till you see their wall of savory buns and rolls. Think hotdog buns, BBQ chicken, ham and cheese, bacon pork floss, and so much more--it's like a never-ending lineup of deliciousness. And the best part? Almost everything is under $5! Very important- here's a $10 minimum for credit card purchases or you can just pay cash! The staff is super friendly, and they're always happy to help if you're not sure what to try. My personal favorites? The cheesecake and the coffee cake roll--both are chef's kiss! Highly recommend stopping by when you're in Chinatown.
Corner Cafe & Bakery is a classic Asian bakery right in the middle of Chinatown. Like most bakeries of this style, it's self-serve, so there isn't much interaction with staff, though they were friendly when needed. There is a $10 minimum for credit cards, but it's not hard to reach if you're picking up a variety of pastries. The pastries themselves are about average compared to other Chinatown bakeries. The pineapple bun is a solid choice, and they carry plenty of other staples like roll cakes, hot dog bao, and more. It's a convenient stop if you're in the area and craving familiar favorites.
Great buns and deserts to choose from! Great for snacks on the go! My boyfriend grabbed a whole variety of buns and enjoyed all of them. I got the Pandan moon cake. It had great texture and flavor.
Only got the big fluffy white bao with meat filling inside. It was so soft and fluffy. Unfortunately there was just too much bread but it was still good over with the flavors.
Cute bakery in downtown Boston's Chinatown district. The name of this spot is fitting because this Bakery is literally located at the corner of a relatively busy intersection entering Chinatown. We popped in on a Friday evening after grabbing a bite. There were sweet and savory options to choose from -- fresh baked breads, pastries, tarts, cakes, and a bunch of in betweens of what an Asian bakery has to offer. We spent $50 and walked out with a box of assorted treats, and some egg tarts to share. Cravings satisfied. Support local y'all!
Late night bakery in Chinatown. Thought the pastries were just average. The customer service was friendly. Wouldn't rush to go back - but wouldn't avoid going either. Okay late night when options are limited.
Good bakery. It was packed but they had some really nice looking and tasting desserts. I got some tarts (not the egg tart but another one) and a couple mousse cakes (mango and lychee). The lychee was a bit bland, but the tart and the mango mousse cakes were excellent. We saw someone purchase some bread that looked like melon pan, and we returned later to buy some, but they were already sold out, so we will most definitely be back to try those.
"How could I not stop? Those colorful, tempting treats were practically seducing me from the display case, 'EAT ME! Late at night, I gave in without a fight... and every sweet bite was worth it

I was in town and staying nearby. I wanted to try Boston Egg Tarts and Chinese bakery coffee. The egg tarts were delicious, especially if you managed to catch them out of the oven. The coffee is great as well but on both occasions I was there, they served Luke warm. read more

Taste of buns are decent but doesn't like the rules they have, In order to get a plastic bag to carry your food you must pay cash and for no sales tax you have to buy six items or more. read more

There are not a lot of decent chinese bakeries left in Chinatown. We are glad this place is actually pretty decent. Its on the corner of Harrison Ave and Beach St, so very convenient and accessible. We like that most of the buns are offered on the self-service racks and each bun is individually wrapped. The non wrapped stuff is available if you ask for it over the counter, so this puts us at ease. The buns tastes good and the best part is that they are still priced very competitively. Most items were no more than $2, which is great as most other bakeries seem to have raised their prices too high. They also accept credit cards and the staff speaks decent English. We'll definitely be back. read more
Cafe Corner is one of the cleanest Chinese bakeries in Boston in my mind. The products are kept in a neat, clean area, so somehow I feel a lot more confident getting bakeries from here than other places within the area. Staff there can also speak English well (and products generally have English description associated with them), so it's easier and there's just more peace of mind getting Asian bakeries from here than anywhere else. I've gotten various types of bakeries from Cafe Corner like cakes, pineapple/Asian buns and some creme cakes and they all tasted great. My favorite so far had been something as cheap and simple as pineapple buns ($1) from this place. The only qualm I have about this place is that they don't have as much selection as some other places. But if you are looking for clean, sanitary and quality (also tasty) products, this bakery is where you should go! read more
I wandered into this bakery hoping to find pineapple buns, a snack I always have an appetite for. Cafe corner did not disappoint. The prices are very fair and they sell all the Asian bakery essentials at a fair price (~$2 per bun and ~$5 for cakes). I grabbed a few pineapple buns and a pork floss bun to share - thoroughly enjoyed everything. I recommend bringing some cash since there is a minimum for credit card payments. Highly recommend this place. read more
We came here to pick up some authentic Hong Kong style pastries, and everything was delicious. We got the wife cakes, which are flaky pastry with winter melon filling, mocha roll cake, and pineapple filled buns. There are also lots of individual mouse cakes of unique flavors such as leche cream cakes, passion fruit and mango cakes, and moon cakes which are traditional Chinese pastry filled with flavors such as lotus paste or red beans. Everything is fresh, unique and delicious! So we'll be back whenever we are in the area. read more
So if you just got screwed by Time Warner And creepy dudes hit on you in the Sauna Then I know something tasty In the form of a pastry Boston Chinatown's Cafe Corner! I feel cornered into writing this review, honestly. I'm a big fan of the Cafe Corner Bakery and in fact it's probably the best bakery in Chinatown. Their wife cakes are delightful and delectable and chalky and perfect. They have a big version and a small version, and the small version is only available as a box of several. You can get one big version by itself and oh my God every bite is heaven. They really know how to make a wife cake. I can't wait to give it to the wife. The cake I mean. If it's so good, it's like watching porn, then it's Cafe Porner. But the real selling point here is the Portuguese custard tart. And yes I do mean Portuguese. They have a Hong Kong version like everybody else does which I'm sure is really good but their Portuguese version is off-the-charts spectacular. It's burned and Flaky and crispy and gooey and everything that you could ever want from a Portuguese custard tart. It's like one of the really good ones up in Toronto or Newark New Jersey. But it's right here in Boston and is the only one of its kind that I found. You can see why I am so enthused about this place. It's a must try in Boston, for everyone and their pet Llama. If everyone dies while you're eating your tarts, then you're a Cafe Mourner. And they clearly understand what their big selling point is because there is a huge picture on the side of their building of the Hong Kong version and the Portuguese version side-by-side, for anybody who wasn't sure what they were getting. The Portuguese version is awesome as is the customer service here, and the girls were tickled and delighted to take pictures of me with my food. If you get really horny while eating here (I think they did), then don't worry, I'm Cafe Hornier. Prices are cheap and so is your mother. My favorite Bakery in Chinatown. By a mile. Probably my fave in all of Boston. And if your computer has been hacked by Bots, then what have the Bots-done? read more

Clean, bright and spacious, not a typical Chinese bakery. Paper wrap cake 4/5 moist and soft Almond cake 2/5 tasteless Soy milk cream roll 2/5 no soymilk taste, can't compare to what I had in China Coconut cake 2/5 little coconut taste Dried pork bun 3/5 Service is good. Selection is limited. read more
Selection is limited at this corner bakery. Not a lot of buns or breads available. Most are modern offerings versus traditional buns and baos. If you want to get their buns, I'd come early because, in addition to the limited selection, there is limited quantity of everything. Probably better to come check out the Swiss rolls and cakes. Not the best bakery. The most popular item is probably the coconut bun with cream filling. The reviews that say they have authentic Portuguese tarts are wrong. I am from Macau (born there) where Portuguese egg tarts originate. These are not the real deal. They might be decent but are not authentic, save for the tiny bits of caramel used sugar on top of the egg custard. Price here is $0.30-$1.25 more than other bakeries in Boston Chinatown. Most are individually wrapped so you can just grab what you want on your own. read more
Not too busy on a rainy Saturday around 5:00PM. Pros: -Beautiful pastries -Inexpensive -Mooncakes! -- Red Bean Moon Cake Essentially a huge chunk of thick red bean paste enrobed in a thin layer of pastry. I prefer a red bean bun, but this was a beautiful pastry. read more

The trifecta of food is high quality, filling quantity at an affordable price. You genuinely can't go wrong with any of their bakery options but if you're feeling very safe (like I was here), go with their bestsellers: pineapple bun, pork flakes bun etc. Heres 3 cases you'd want to stop by here: 1. Surprise your girlfriend after work with minimal cost 2. Breakfast run with friends and share different buns 3. Stock up before running to the airport 5/5 for warm service and warm bakery read more
My one of two go-to bakeries in Chinatown (The other one being Bao Bao). There are so many bakeries around here, but not all of them are great, depending on what you get. Everything I ever bought here has never let me down. Solid red bean bun, and the milk bun here is my absolute favorite. And all just a buck or two? I would come to this place and Bao Bao over Tous Les Jours or Paris Baguette. They wrap all their breads in plastic though. Not very environmentally conscious! read more

Small clean bakery. Pretty desserts with cute to-go packaging. Nothing to report about staff. Came here because I wanted to try the lychee mousse cake. Tasted like it was made with real lychee vs lychee flavoring or extract. There were chunks of lychee in the mousse too. My aunts really like the durian cake. read more
I love Café Corner it's so easy and convenient to enter The staff is nice and polite very willing to explain all the pastries and breads that they have available. The packaging is clean and neat and nicely marked. Prices are very reasonable a lot of items starting at only a dollar. read more
Lovely pastries! My favorite was the coconut bar which is not pictured. Everything was tasty and not overly sweet. I loved the matcha and coffee jelly pastries as well. My least favorite item was the cupcake which the woman working sort of forced on us. Seven items came to almost thirty dollars. Great for a treat after dumplings across the street! read more

Got some egg tarts and they tasted delicious! They were pretty fresh and served warm. The pastry was flaky and buttery, while the egg custard had just the right taste and consistency. Reasonable price as well ($2.85 for 2)! read more

Decent Chinese bakery in Chinatown offering the typical types of breads you can find at other bakeries in the area. The selection of breads isn't that big and the texture of bread is just alright. They also offer mooncakes and a few other pastries as well. Portuguese egg tarts are $1.20 and regular egg tarts are $1! They're nothing too special and not too creamy as I had hoped them to be either. read more

I bought a cake for $8 and they charged me 0.80 for a bag that collapsed few minutes later. I don't know if that's in Chinese tradition but most places I've encountered in Chinatown are very dishonest and try to make money from things like that. Will never go back. read more
This is my favorite bakery in Boston's Chinatown. I started every morning and afternoon I was in Boston visiting with a pastry from from here, so I've gotten around to trying a good variety of their baked goods. My favorite are their egg tarts and swiss rolls. The tarts have a flaky shell and custard-like filling. The swiss rolls (coffee, soy milk, chocolate, and vanilla) all have a fluffy cake texture with a light and sweet frosting. They do specialty pastries too, but I never got around to trying them after trying most of the sweet breads here. The sweet breads all run around $1-$1.50, so a super affordable snack! This place is awesome. The counter ladies are super nice. There's a minimum $10 purchase to use cards though, so bring cash if you only want to pick up one or two items. read more
This place is my go-to place for Chinese bakery items! The egg tarts are really delicious--probably the best I've tried in Boston, and all of the baked buns also taste great. Some of my favorites are the pineapple bun, pork floss bun, and custard bun, though the custard one is a little on the sweet side. If you lightly toast the buns in the oven at home, they will taste super warm and new, which will really make the experience more enjoyable (you can even freeze them and re-heat them in the oven and it will taste good as new if you accidentally bought more than you can eat). The food is still really nice and a great deal. read more

this place carried me through the fall semester whenever i didn't feel like eating at the dining hall so i thought i'd drop them a review. great for when you're in the area and just need a quick, cheap bite to eat. do note that card is only accepted if you spend over $10. but again, if you have a few bucks on you and need a little something to hold you over, this is the place to go. my personal favorite is the pork lace! read more
