    Red bean bubble waffle
    Julia L.

Very yummy red bean bubble waffle. Red bean filling is made from real red beans, not paste. Bubble waffle is made fresh and tastes super good, especially when still hot. Bubble shape allows for easy snacking piece by piece, or you can chomp down on it. Very convenient to hold in bag as you stroll around. The woman who runs the stand is very nice. She has a small stand in the back of a tiny food court/hall, more of a takeout spot. It might get a bit cramped during more popular times just because of the other food stands next to it.

Her mother made waffles out of this stand for decades, she passed the torch down to her daughter who now does the same.

*Review for bookstore only*…read more This place was super cute and I'm so glad we decided to check it out after almost walking by it! As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the cashiers on the right while the wall in front is lined with new releases and employee recommendations. As you go further in, there's a small café on the left (a couple was having their first date when we walked by. How cute!). There are two floors, but I mainly stayed on the first since the second floor seemed dedicated to children's books. I am a memoir/nonfiction girl, so I went back to that section and was happy to find two whole cases dedicated to the genre. They also have super cute post cards, puzzles, hats, and other knickknacks. I bought a postcard of Beacon Hill to commemorate our vacation! I'm only knocking a star off because there didn't seem to be many books on sale or a decent used section. I did happen to find and buy one book on sale, but it was pure luck because no sign made it clear that discounted books would be sprinkled in. As someone new to the area, I loved the feel of the space and would definitely be a regular if I lived nearby!

We shopped around for a few minutes before being taken upstairs to be seated for brunch. The menu was varied and everyone found something that was exactly what they wanted. I had the the French toast and it was delicious. They also have a huge selection of fresh juices, smoothies, and shakes. I tried one called the Geoffrey that I loved. Our waiter was great as was the staff downstairs in the bookstore.

We also had the chicken sliders and pulled pork Benedict, which were good but nothing to write home about tbh (the chicken slider was a little fishy weirdly). Drinks here are also fun! This was an amazing find of a restaurant on our little trip to Boston. As of many of the other…read morereviews state, the biscuits are a must. They were the dark horse that I never would have thought about ordering normally. Biscuits for dinner? Eh. But they were delicious and lighter than expected and the pimento cheese I could have ate by the spoonfuls. The oysters were clean and delicious. Everything you hope to have from Northeast oysters especially being from Texas where most of the places here serve Gulf oysters that don't even come close to comparing. I could have drank the mignonette. The pimento mac n cheese was on point and flavorful (and again that pimento cheese, yum). The wagyu burgers were so good. The burger was tender and flavorful, the bread was soft and light and slightly sweet, and the onion ring added a great texture to the mix. Think of a amped up western burger. The ambiance was a cool vibe yet a home feel. We were seated quickly but it took awhile for anyone to acknowledge us. Service was good once it started and the food came out quickly. If we ever make it back to Boston, it will definitely be on our list to revisit. Great late dinner spot. Simple foods done right. (Oh, and the drinks were delicious. I wanted to try them all. Mine tasted exactly like an apple pie.)

Caffe Bene is a Korean cafe chain that has found its niche in Boston as one of the better late…read morenight options in a city that does not offer many after dark. The location near Northeastern and Symphony Hall gives it a built in audience of students and concertgoers, and the spacious hardwood interior handles both crowds comfortably without ever feeling chaotic despite the energy that tends to fill it on a busy evening. The drinks are the main reason to come, and the specialty lattes are where the menu shines. We tried the strawberry latte and the misutgaru latte, both of which lean closer to dessert drinks than traditional coffee preparations, thick and satisfying in a way that works well for a late night treat. The bingsu is the food item worth ordering, and the green tea and red bean versions are both well executed in a way that the rest of the food side does not always match. The macarons are a solid accompaniment, crispy on the outside with a lightly gooey center that lands where it should. Service is friendly and efficient, handling the steady flow of customers without delays even when the cafe is full. The space remains comfortable throughout, with plenty of seating and a relaxed energy that makes it easy to settle in for an extended visit. Beyond the drinks and bingsu, the food menu is uneven, and some of the pastries feel more convenient than considered. Sticking to the specialty lattes and the bingsu is the smarter approach. For a late night cafe stop in Boston that reliably delivers on atmosphere and a few standout items, Caffe Bene fills a gap that few other spots in the city address.

Started with the charcuterie board, and that first combo of cheese + jam + warm bread - one of those ratatouille moments. Simple, but exactly right. Then the salad - a little sweetness from the pecans, and somehow going back and forth between that and the charcuterie felt like the right strategy. Service was super solid and attentive without hovering, always around when you needed something. Ordered a Kronenbourg 1664 mid-meal - crisp, slightly sweet, easy to keep sipping. Then the seared salmon came out, topped with shrimp. More seafood with my seafood? Absolutely. Left completely full, finishing off the extra jam as a low-effort dessert. Could've ordered something sweet, but sometimes it's better to switch locations and convince yourself you're being active on the way to the next spot. indoor = warm and cozy outside = sun and dogs

Very charming interior with the plants and comfy seating along the wall and the lighting. They are walk in only and do not take reservations so be prepared for a wait. We got there around 1pm on Sunday afternoon and it was full - they said it would be a 1 hour wait. So we put our name down and were just waiting for another friend and standing in the tiny vestibule- and then surprisingly after about 10 minutes were told that 4 spots cleared at the bar!! I ordered the Mamas breakfast- scrambled eggs, toast, no bacon, salad. The eggs were soft and rich cooked in butter no doubt. I asked for jam for my toast and it was a fresh chunky strawberry jam - went great with the buttered toast. Hubs and a friend both got the smoked salmon - seemed a bit light - so I shared my eggs with hubs. Other friend got the eggs Benedict which looked amazing and he really enjoyed it too. They also ordered mimosas - how that comes is they serve a bottle of the alcohol (if you order a bottle that is) and a carafe of the orange juice. Hubs ordered a Ferrero Rocher-tini- which is listed under the Grown Up Coffee section in the drinks menu - it was very decadent! We had a nice leisurely brunch and pretty much closed the place down as they close at 3pm. Got some pics of the place empty too! Service was friendly. Overall a great experience- will be back for another meal for sure!
