So I went to another corner bakery on John W. Carpenter in Irving and I met the manager Rico and he was amazing with service and my food. I thanked him for being here because this store had issues before but because he is here they have better employees and great customer service. He saw my last pic from corner bakery and he gave me a free sandwich since the link didn't work from the reply from Rachel. Then I have a coupons for free 2 items. Sad to find out that that Corner Bakery on MacArthur in Irving is closed. I have gone there many years and have never been disappointed. The staff had always been nice and hard working. The food had always been exceptionally good, and the restaurant had always been sparkling clean. I guess I am always in a hurry, never had time to write good comments (I only comment when there is something to complain about, as many ppl do). Too bad only the complaints were taken into considerations. Some of those I've seen are just not fair. Either way, I hope this favorite restaurant of mine will survive people's negativity. This makes me so sad. I used to live in this neighborhood a couple of years ago and this was where I started most mornings. The ladies at the counter were so great and we always greeted each other- even when I moved away I'd stay in hotels nearby before or after flights and always come here. Always good reliable food. In this year I've noticed all three of my favorite local corner bakeries have gone downhill. This one is probably the worst and saddest. Those ladies aren't here anymore- and this is after years of their smiling faces. Today I was waited on (not greeted) by a lady who walked off mid order thinking I wanted only a sandwich and no drink and didn't want to eat it here. The I go to get a drink and there's no ice. Seller had to have known because as I waited for someone to notice me at the counter to ask for ice (no one very did the jus continued to chat amongst themselves) I saw an ice truck in the parking lot. After a couple of minutes another woman comes out of the back with two bags of ices and throws them on the kitchen floor. (To break the ice?) then takes the bags off the floor to the drink machine and opens the lid and puts the bag in the machine. I can't say that's very sanitary. I almost tripped on the cord to the Christmas three which is on the floor across the walkway. Not being a grinch but please be careful. I love a good Christmas tree- they've had one up several years before without that. My sandwich was surprisingly good. Now the oatmeal was nice- but it wasn't what I'd ordered- I'd asked for overnight oats. She rang it up as overnight oats. I got oatmeal. Also there are two types of overnight oats and she never asked which one. It's not a huge deal and given the rest of the situation was probably best to just take whatever I can get. I was really looking forward to the chilled creaminess do the yogurt and oats with the crisp fruits and crunch of the almonds and bite of the berries (which don't come in the oatmeal). I quit going to the one over off the highway because it was similar- no ice, low quality food, and it's clearly empty and run down every time I went and sadly I'm thinking I may have to stop going here too. I've been going to Corner Bakery on John Carpenter for years, and the food has been well prepared, and the staff pleasant and accommodating. I've also used their catering service 3-4 times, and the food has been ready at pick-up time, delicious, and enjoyed by my guests. Today I somehow lost my glasses, and the staff and manager checked the Lost and Found, moved the table where I had been seated, checked with all the workers, and then, took my name & phone number. As I walked out to my car, the manager, Ken, came out, holding up my glasses in the case. He had moved not just my table but ones near by where the case and glasses had fallen, obscured by a seat. Decided to try out the healthier options at Corner Bakery Cafe, and so soup and salad it was! Since it was my first time trying out this restaurant, I went for a Caesar salad and a tomato basil soup (ubiquitous options on any menu offering salads and soups) to use as a barometer for comparison. Decided against adding any protein to the salad. It was pretty decent - The lettuce was fresh and crisp and the Parmesan cheese was well represented. I like that their croutons had a bit of a kick to them. The salad dressing was given on the side, which I preferred. Overall, pretty decent without being spectacular. The tomato basil soup was rich and creamy, however I thought it was a bit on the salty side. Adding the croutons provided on the side allowed me to add texture that was very complementary to the soup. Overall, it was alright without having many errors, but yet not enough to blow your socks off. I'll be more adventurous next time I try the place to see if there are better menu options. read more

I get there and there is no line, waiting for 5 min for someone to tell me to order. Meanwhile 2 men (guessing the managers) and the girl working the cash register were just looking at me. I ordered the pesto chicken sandwich and tasted nothing like pesto. Plain with chicken. I wanted the Caesar salad as My side, and it came with basically 3 Romaine leaves. Disappointing experience. Tried to place order by phone, put me on hold, never picked up. When I arrived, kitchen seemed disorganized. They were preoccupied with themselves at cash register. Finally, a surly person took my order. When order was ready, the salad greens were served partially wilted, the caramel macchiato wasn't tasty, and the cream coffee cake slice was half the size it normally is. This was my second time at Corner Bakery and I have mixed feelings. The two times I have been I've come in right at 6:00 a.m., which is right when they open, and everyone seems a little tired and drowsy (which I can understand). I previously enjoyed their American Scramble, but most recently I wasn't thrilled with their Banana Foster Oatmeal or their Breakfast Bacon wrap (which my wife ordered and I got to try). I will say that the coffee is good, especially the Hazelnut Cream. In my opinion, it's a good value for some of the menu items, but definitely not all. read more

Sunday mornings may not be the best at this store. I ordered pancake breakfast with scrambled eggs (which were watered down to where I had to drain the excess water from my togo container. My wife started a new job in the area. I headed over to her office for a tour and take her out for a celebratory lunch. She'd already been to Corner Bakery with her co-workers and suggested we go there for lunch. She really likes the salads there. We got there right at noon and went right through the line with no wait at all. Fantastic! I wife ordered the full strawberry salad and I ordered a "pick 2" with a rustic Italian 1/2 sandwich and a smaller sized strawberry crisp salad. Yummy, my sandwich and salad was awesome. A few days ago, I did the online ordering prior to picking up my to-go order. Super handy to use, so you don't have to wait in line. The cons: the sandwiches seem to be shrinking, getting smaller and smaller. They really aren't worth the price any more. Boo! Had a bad experience here before about three years ago and haven't been back since that visit. Warning Corner Bakery; you are not the only choice out there. Today myself and a co worker placed an online order to be picked up at 2:45 pm. I requested in the comments to separate the orders. When I walked up to the counter indicating online pick up orders; a manager and employee was preparing an order, another employee was I her cell phone and asking the other employees a question, and another employee was standing I the far corner. I stood there for about 5-7 minutes without be acknowledged. Finally a young lady came up to the counter and asked how can she help. I gave her my name for the online order and she brought both ordered packed in one bag. My co worker wanted to look at desserts and we came back to the register to wait again for someone to acknowledge we wanted to make an order. The same cashier came back and we ordered a dessert to go. We also realized we did not receive the 32oz lemonade with the order. So the cashier hands us a 20 oz cup as she was about to go and pack yup the desserts. I asked is this a 32oz cup and the manager apologized and told me to keep the cup for the confusion and handed me a 32oz cup to get the lemonade. So we get back to work and realize my co worker had tomatoes on her sandwich; we requested no tomatoes which was also listed on the receipt. All in all the service needs improvement which is sad cause I love the food here. Very disappointing experience. read more

Great sandwiches! Let's face the fact, most folks when they pull up the Yelp app, they are trying to figure out what to try out and what other folks recommend. Other options: 3) The thinly sliced roast beef, tomato, lettuce, mayonnaise sandwich on a sesame seed bun is it kind of medium sandwich my opinion! I might say it's average, but I would have to give this one a 78 out of 100, (C average). What to skip: 4) I tried their own brand made bag of chips. One chip and I had to double check the date expiration date. It tasted old, one I would not want to have again. Suggestion, the chef, cooks, owner need to try the chips for quality more often. It could have been I just got a hold of a bad bag, but I do not want you to get a bad product! I have to give the chips a 45 out 100 and that is being kind! I haven't been to this location since they changed their hours. I get it, not much evening business. I decided to treat myself to my favorite chopped salad for lunch. Tried to order online so I could get back to work, unable to order online. Tried to call and place my order over the phone, line was never answered, like the phone was off the hook. Fine, I'll go and place my order there and hope to get in and out. Sigh. Took forever, I don't understand why the wait was so long. Got my order, rushed to get back to work since I wasted 20 minutes. Did they change the dressing or was my order just messed up? This definitely wasn't the flavorful dressing I love that comes with the chopped salad, was more like a lemony house vinaigrette?
