I've been to this place a few times. This particular day I decided to try something different than the pizza I always get. So I got the chicken bowl with sweet potato, pickled slaw, guacamole, quinoa, tomatoes with feta cheese. ALLLLL the things I do NOT eat! But I decided to try it. It was amazing as you can see from the pics. The service and ambiance is always great but they can sometimes get a little busy. I've heard their salmon is great as well. I hate to say that the quality of this place has really deteriorated. It used to be a fantastic option next Whole Foods when it first opened. We went into today and we were told that the pizza oven had been down for more than a month. They did know when it would be fixed. That was a bummer because I loved their pizza. We ordered sandwiches and soups. They had tasted much better in the past. We also asked for water. On the way to our table, I just added a splash of lemonade to my water. After sitting down, the cashier awkwardly came to our table and asked that I return to the register and pay for the drink. I did because I was in the wrong. I also understood the cashier's predicament because the manager was eyeing everything behind the food line without any attempt at verbal communication. We were the only customers in the place. I returned to the register and paid for the drink. I probably won't return to this location. I am hoping the other locations are better run than the Irving location. read more

The customer service was good. The blueberry Nutella waffle was just okay; the waffle itself didn't taste fresh, more like a pre-packaged snack with Nutella and blueberries on top. Stopped by for some takeout today and was craving something veggie forward. Was able to get the Buddha bowl which highlights tofu and the sweet potato curry soup on the side. We were having our dinner when the lady from behind the counter made a big deal about the table we had pushed together with the wheelchair accessible table (I am a wheelchair user). She forced us to move tables - so we couldn't use anything with the accessible table - DESPITE ME BEING IN A WHEELCHAIR. She wanted to move us to the high top table - which doesn't make sense - because again I'm a wheelchair user and wouldn't be able to reach. I could not get under the table she forced us to move to due to the legs of the table. She was worried about a party coming in - but it was nearly closing time. There was only one other table there in the entire place. And they weren't customers but grifters. We were then told to leave 30 minutes before closing... just ridiculous. My how far we have fallen. When Modern Market first hit the scene, everything was fresh, freshly prepared, and quality. After not having patronized them in years, we tried them again tonight. I had my go-to, the smoker chicken bowl. The chicken was dry, the rice very dry (old), there was hardly any avocado sauce, and the smokey sauce wasn't on the chicken but some identifiable item on my plate. I actually had to refer back to the menu to figure out what it is and apparently it's sweet potatoes but it's stringy and weird tasting. I thought for sure the gluten-free chocolate chip cookie would make up for this failure but I was again greatly disappointed. I don't know how anyone can screw up a chocolate chip cookie but it tasted like crunchy powdered sugar and that's about it. I ate half and threw the rest away. Had a very flavorful lunch courtesy of Modern Market! My order included:- 1. A half portion of the SUPERduperFOOD salad - With a name like that, who can resist, especially looking at the ingredients. And when I say their half portion in itself is generous (and I am saying so), trust me it is because I generally have a good appetite. But why settle for half, when you can get a full portion and munch on later? It comes with a mixture of savory and sweet to keep your palate engaged for the ride with it's ingredients of quinoa, carrots, greens, blueberry granola, strawberries and almonds to boot. Loved the texture differences, especially with the crunch delivered by the granola and almonds. The salad came paired with a raspberry dressing, which was delicious. All in all, a good, refreshing salad. 2. A cup of green chicken chili - Spicy (at least for me), thicker soup with a base ingredient of green chili to give you heat with every spoonful, and includes chicken, onions, potatoes. I liked the flavor, just wish there was a wee bit more chicken. Also, if you're watching your sodium level, this cup may destroy over half your ideal daily goal. The food always tastes fresh and I have only good things to say about the quality of ingredients. Ample options for vegetarians and great offers on their app have me returning back. I think I have tried pretty much everything vegetarian on their menu and have never been disappointed. The pizza is good, pesto blueberry sandwich is great, mashed potatoes are wonderful. The portions are kept healthy as well with just enough to fill a huge appetite like mine. This location has good seating including a huge communal table. You order as you enter and collect your food as your buzzer starts doing it's thing. I haven't visited during busy hours so the food is out quite quick. My wife and I ate lunch here today. I had the overnight braised beef and it to me to happyland riding on the back of a unicorn. Wow it is sooooo good. Your life is incomplete until you've tried it. The mushroom onion gravy on the mashed potatoes is really delicious. My wife ate the Smokey chicken bowl and the flavors are crazy good and more than just a little spicy. I got to finish hers off. Updating my review, unfortunately. Last week, I submitted an order via their app- one mushroom muffaletta and a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup. When entering, I noticed a female employee who was expediting orders wearing her mask, but it was under her chin only. Did her chin have some sort of virus and she was protecting the public from it?! She never once wore it correctly as I waited for my order. GROSS When I received my lunch and opened up the bag at work, the chips were missing. This is the standard side for the sandwich. Then, I opened the soup bowl. Not for sure what kind of soup it was, but it definitely was not what I ordered. At first, I thought it was their version of cheese soup and it did not even resemble the pics on their app. Tried it and it was disgusting. $5 down the drain. I attempted to contact the restaurant. Nope, it is a number that is routed to one place that controls all restaurants. Strange. I told them about my incorrect order. The employee said he would refund the lunch. Never once did. Portion sizes are decent and the meals are made from scratch. The chicken chili and the roasted potatoes were the best part of this dish. How the heck does this place look so healthy but have so much salt in their food?? I ordered half a bacon/corn pizza and half a Thai coconut salad, both of which had so much added salt that I almost spit my food out. I could actually see salt crystals on my pizza, which were really not needed because bacon is already very salty on its own. Someone in the kitchen definitely got a little excited trying to emulate salt bae. The bacon/corn pizza was okay otherwise, but nothing to write home about. My friend ordered the prosciutto pizza and had the same complaints about the salt. Again, these are saltier meats, so throwing on additional salt is really unnecessary. I actually really loved the dressing on the salad, but was frustrated at how wet and clumpy and overly sweet the coconut was. I would have preferred it to be more evenly distributed throughout the salad. The chicken in it was overcooked and unseasoned?? I really don't understand their seasoning methods here. read more

Super underwhelming. First time I've ordered from here, I was looking forward to the healthier options and flavors. I ordered the curry salmon bowl, my bf got the salmon quinoa bowl with mash potatoes and Mac and cheese. Both our salmons were cold and very over cooked which made it dry, chalky, and somewhat hard. As if it was sitting under a heat lamp all day. His Mac and cheese was dry and cold as if it also was made and sitting under a heat lamp. We did order 30min before closing but that's no excuse especially for the price. I did enjoy the curry sauce and the Chimichurri was well executed and why I gave more than one star, but the main portion of our meals were so bad it made it hard to eat. I normally don't post reviews but I was very unsatisfied and disappointed. Wow, why has it taken my wife and I so long to try Modern Market? Our lunch today was delicious. For my birthday, a friend gave me a gift card to Modern Market. My wife works close to the one in Irving and we've passed it several times when I come by to take her to lunch a couple times a month. My wife ordered the TENDER BELLY BLT+A, basically, a BLT and I ordered the 1/2 truffle and garlic pizza and 1/2 Wintergreen salad. My salad which had baby greens, green apple, goat cheese, roasted potato, medjool dates, walnut, agave herb vinaigrette, was more than ample to share. My 1/2 pizza, which was cut into 3 slices was delicious, I loved the crust, it was thin and crispy. What a wonderful experience we had eating lunch at Modern Market. It was around 12:20 on Thursday, pretty crowded for lunch time but the line moved quickly and it gave me time to review the menu. Ended up getting half of a thai coconut salad and half basil chicken pesto. The salad was soooo yummy! Lots of cucumber, peanuts, sweet potato noodles, fresh lettuce and tasty dressing. Didn't taste very coconutty but it was delicious! I was so full and hadn't even eaten half of my salad when I eyed the sandwich. Took one bite to try before grabbing a to go container. It was yummy! My only comparison would be Panera and Corner bakery and honestly, this place blows them both away. My mother and I went to modern market for breakfast while in Irving for a job interview I had lined up. The bright atmosphere and healthy/clean options on the menu made for a great experience. Both the breakfast sandwiches we ordered were larger portions than expected and we both had to take to go boxes for them. Also, this place offers fresh pressed juices mixed with lemonade. The Green chile Chicken chili is quite delicious :) i've been here twice and got that soup both times and wasn't disappointed. I got the basil pesto chicken sandwich the first time I came here. The 2nd time I came here i got the BLT+a sandwich. The basil pesto chicken sandwich was pretty good! I loved it! I would get it again in a heart beat. I tried the BLT+A and liked it alot, but it wasn't as awesome as I had hoped. I got it to go, and i had to wait longer than I thought I would to eat it, so that might have dampered the awesomeness b/c of the time I had to wait to eat it. I was really unhappy with the calorie count of the BLT+a. I saw it on the board, but it's printed on the receipt and it was over 1000 calories. OMG. That's a big disappointment for me. Ordered online, went in to pick up my order. Staff is inattentive and rude. They do not act friendly when asking for order status and had one of the staff members completely ignore me. Order took 30 mins longer than usual. I ordered around 7pm and still had not received the order after arriving 30 mins after. This is very common when ordering later into the day at this location. If you're short staffed I get it, but maybe we should look into why your store is understaffed. Do you pay your workers enough to retain them and boost their morale?
