Cafe Hana is one of my favorite Japanese cafés. The space has had a minor update as there are also more pastry and dessert options. Time for a review update! My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Café Hana has a new sign outside. The coffee shop seating has been replaced with small tables. The result is more seating for this popular weekend spot. There are also some tables outside which is always a good option if weather permits. 1 Star. Service - The staff is super nice. It's counter service, so you order at the front. Café Hana also has a new menu which showcases how diverse their tea, coffee, and food items are. After placing our order, we grabbed a seat, and a short time later our items came out. You'll feel very welcome here. 1 Star. Food - Thank you Café Hana for the new menu! I ordered a Yuzu Pear Ade because I never heard of it. Oh my, it turned out to be a deliciously refreshing pear soda. It was very Japanese and very good. On this visit, I went with a pork katsu sando. First of all, the sando was so pretty when it came out, I had to snap a photo before I devourted the tender fried pork cutlet. The Japanese slaw added a cool, creamy texure. But what held it all together (literally) was the perfectly toasted bread. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I think I could fill the remainder of 2026 with a different drink from Café Hana each weekend. Yes, not only will I be back, I need to strategically plan my next visit. 1 Star.
I really loved the service here. The lady at the front was extremely kind and super friendly. The matcha was amazing, I loved the flavor and the texture, it was everything I looked for in a matcha and 100% recommend this spot to everyone. The cafe itself seems a little cramped and the front is kind of disorienting but it isn't terrible. Loved the flavor of the matcha here!
This small and adorable cafe has Japanese inspired meals and Japanese novelty all around. This is one of the few places where you can find sandos in DFW! I'm biased with hojichas since I enjoyed the taste of roasted green tea and the mango they added made for a delicious drink. The staff are also very friendly - they close early! Be sure to show up early if you can. My friends and I always come back here for a quick stop, the drinks and food items are tough to find!
I liked the good variety on the menu and plenty of parking. I got the Mentaiko Pasta which was fairly tasty, balanced, and the bread that came with it was toasted and delish. Also had the Curry Rice which was on the meatier end so not the typical Japanese sweetness which was a plus and the katsu. All the portions were small for the average texan. Strawberry Matcha Latte was quiet expensive considering adding oat milk made it $9.50, not the most amazing drink. I would not try the items again, but would consider coming back to try some other things on the menu.
The cafe is on the smaller side and has a limited menu of sando and some other foods. You order and pay at the counter at the front so service on the lighter side. We opted for the spicy chicken katsu. The spice element is just chili paste/sambal so the heat is definitely there. The chicken is on the dryer side though but overall its a simple sando. The drinks weren't too bad, with some nice seasonal offerings to choose from.
a solid four stars! I can't believe this place exist in the middle of irving... We were in the area and wanted to get something to drink. This place popped up and had lots of interesting drinks. We ended up getting a matcha pineapple tea and a mango hojicha latte with oatmilk. Both drinks were really good. The first sip was actually really sweet, but once you mix it around it gets better. Also, for the hojicha drink, i think it had red bean in it? not 100% certain, and normally i don't like red bean, but this was really good. They also have pastries, and we ended up getting a yuzu one. i see that they also have entrees like curry and sandwiches. This place seems very small, so i don't know where they have the space to cook all the food items, one hypothesis is that they get the food from the Japanese restaurant next door. Service was great and they were friendly.
Cute, small-business Japanese cafe that offers great quality food and drinks! I'm not much of a matcha aficionado but this would certainly be any matcha lover's dream, especially in terms of the variety that's offered. They already have a wide selection in terms of their general menu but they also offer a seasonal menu with a number of variety as well. I personally got the matcha pineapple tea which I thought provided a great matcha flavor and was balanced by just the right amount of sweetness with the pineapple. For food, I got the chicken katsu sandwich. There was a hefty sized chicken breast that they used. The lettuce provides a nice crunch and the teriyaki sauce gives the flavor. It was certainly filling but the chicken was so thick that sometimes it just didn't have enough flavor. Maybe it could have been seasoned more or a greater amount of teriyaki sauce could have been added. Briefly, in terms of service, I thought it was great. It seems like a small, tight-knit group of people that are truly invested in the business. If I'm in the area again, I look forward to coming back.
I stopped by Cafe Hana for lunch today and this place is an awesome Japanese cafe with a good amount of food options. After reviewing the menu, I decided to go with the Ebi Fry Curry. When the food arrived, it was picturesque. The shrimp were perfectly crispy and the curry was very well flavored. I thought the portion size was perfect as well for lunch. They have a plethora of drink options as well. I decided to get a midday matcha and that hit the spot. Since I work close, I'll be becoming a regular here.
It's a very crowded and cramped cafe, and their staff isn't the nicest. I ordered a matcha latte and the mentaiko pasta, and both were just okay. The matcha wasn't well mixed, so my first sip was almost all powder. The mentaiko pasta was too fishy with not enough spice to balance out the fishiness, and the sauce was too watery. A lot of people were in the cafe chatting, so it's probably not the best environment/cafe to go to if you want a quiet place to study or get some work done. However, I'd be down to come back again and try their sandos because they do look really good! I'd also like to try some of their other drinks as well.
Cutest Japanese cafe with Japanese owners! They have a large variety of drink combos and some dishes. They have lunch sets during the weekdays and other dishes like curry and sandwiches. I got their katsu sandwich which was delicious! It doesn't come with anything on the side. For drinks I got their matcha and hojicha which were both good, not the best I've had in the DFW area but still satisfies my cravings. They also have some smaller Japanese snacks available. They have a few tables inside and one or two seats outside to enjoy. Will definitely come back if I'm in the area!

When we asked what pastries were available, we were met with a curt "Why can't you just look and gauge?"--which immediately set the tone. The menu itself was definitely interesting, but rude service makes it hard to appreciate creativity. The space was full, parking was easy (plenty of spots), but signage was minimal, making the place oddly hard to find. Seating also wasn't very comfortable--fine for a quick stop, not somewhere you'd want to linger. One upside: items were pre-packed, which made ordering faster than it otherwise would've been. Unfortunately, speed didn't translate to quality or care. I came in around 1:30 PM, and there wasn't much of a line. Still, drinks took a long time to come out. When the coffee finally arrived, it was spilled--half of it on the floor--and no one came by to clean it up. We ordered the cappuccino, chocolate bread, cheesecake, and of course, the matcha. The matcha was the biggest letdown, especially given the price (higher than I've seen at most places). It tasted artificial, arrived lukewarm, was overly sweet despite asking for no sweetener, and was already spilling over the cup when it reached the table. Bold statement but probably the worst matcha i've consumed. I've been to so many places in Dallas where the service is genuinely warm and welcoming, so this was a real shock. Overall, the service and attitude were not good at all, and unfortunately, that overshadowed everything else. Final take: interesting concept, but poor service and a very underwhelming (and overpriced)
I come here every week for my FAVORITE drink, the Yuzu Matcha Ade. Why is this my favorite drink? I like matcha but all the other places put milk with their matcha... I'm lactose intolerant . The Yuzu Matcha Ade is like a matcha soda (no milk), soooo good! Other than good drinks Cafe Hana also has good food as well. The Pork Katsu Teishoku reminds me of the pork cutlet set I had in Japan. The different sandos are tasty too. Before I forget, the dessert at Cafe Hana are DELICIOUS! Get the different types of Panna Cottas.
Everytime I come here it's a 5 star experience. First of all, this place has the best hojicha latte in DFW and I always ask for it with Oat Milk. We were in the area super early so we stopped in for breakfast (first time!) and breakfast did not disappoint. I got an avocado toast and the hubs got the morning set that comes with sausage, toast (thick!), and side salads. It was perfect. Presentation and service is also the best here! read more

I ordered the iced Double Matcha latte and Hojicha latte. Both were delicious. The matcha was a bit grainy but the flavor was good. I've had better matcha but the Hojicha latte was delicious!! The service did not feel very welcoming or warming. The shop is small and cozy, but they are frying food. This would not be my ideal place to study. I would come back to try another matcha and order the hojicha again! read more

This was my second time coming to Cafe Hana per my friends' recommendation & I've been impressed both times! The inside of the cafe is really cute & cozy, and the staff has been very friendly to me both times I've visited. I came here to eat lunch as I got some work done and ordered the Pork Katsu Teishoku and an iced Rose Latte! The katsu was good, and the rice was nice and fluffy. For those looking to study here, there is unfortunately no free wifi at the cafe. I ended up just using my hot spot for my laptop while I was here. read more

Brought my family today visiting from out of town with high hopes bc my brother loves Japanese food The gyudon was good, pork katsu in the curry was so tough and hard to chew, the udon was flavorful and my brother enjoyed too fishy to me honestly, and the beef sando was good too. But the rose, sakura and mango matcha drinks were not very flavorful- I feel like the tea was great but the puree that we ordered did not show through at all. I asked for more puree asked for strawberry which usually at other places they are more than willing to give more for free but they charged 6.50 for the three drinks. I didn't feel like the service was super friendly either. Tables are super close together so it's more of a to go place. Authentic Japanese food is hard to find in Dallas so it's unfortunate I didn't have the best experience here. read more
Cute Sando spot! Walk-up/order and sit down style. Got the Egg Sando (thick layer layer of eggs, super soft milk bread/must get), Curry Pork Katsu with rice (flavorful and unique curry, pork was fried nicely and crispy), Chicken Katsu (sauce was good, but the chicken was a bit dry) and the strawberry sando (giant juicy strawberries meshed in between a thick layer of whipped cream with milk bread, so good). I went to this shop for a coffee. The lady at front desk greeted well and made a nice coffee. It is a mom and pop shop, there were few tables for guests to work while they enjoy coffee. The ambiance and atmosphere could have been better. The to-go coffee cup and lid are hard to drink from. read more
ORDER Sakura Matcha Latte - The matcha flavor is very yummy and the matcha is well dissolved. The sakura matcha latte has some of that floral taste from the sakura but it is not as prominent of the rose matcha latte. It has an earthy flavor and isn't too sweet. The drink is a bit on the sweeter side but still really good! Really yummy, flavorful and good! Rose Matcha Latte - The rose matcha latte is a lot more fragrant with that brighter rose flavor. Very representative of the drink and the matcha is also very well dissolved. Spicy Chicken Katsu Sandwich - The chicken katsu was crunchy. The spiciness definitely packs a punch. It is a more painful than flavor spice. The cabbage was super fresh and crunchy. The bread was also light and fluffy. Delicious sando overall! Mentaiko Udon - Very creamy and not too saucy. It comes with two little pieces of toast which is perfect for dipping in the sauce. Very flavorful and good! Perfect seasoning and flavor. VIBES This is a cute Japanese-owned cafe. There is some small table seating, but it is a bit limited. Seating consists of mainly just these small tables and some counter seating. Lighting is on the dimmer side, with an ok amount of window lighting. SERVICE Service is great! Everyone is really polite and food/drink are quick to come out. When leaving, they say thank you and say bye to us on the way out which is the cherry on top to the visit. read more

Upon entering I was great by staff. I wanted a strawberry cake but there were none made and I did not want to pressure anyone to make that at 11am. Decided to try a breakfast item and grab matcha and an egg salad was also included. The food was more than enough for me to starty morning. The music and the hospitality is amazing. I enjoyed the music and that allowed me to complete a couple of tasks that were ahead of me. I will be bringing my friends from our of town here for matcha and small breakfast. I believe this is the perfect case for just more intimate conversations in a shared community setting. read more

This is a great Japanese cafe for drinks and food. I tried the katsu sando, a pork tonkatsu sandwich, and it was very yummy. The katsu was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The milk bread was soft and the cabbage made the sandwich refreshing. Their drinks are a must try too! I enjoyed the strawberry matcha. read more

Was in the area and wanted a matcha and sando, cafe Hana popped up so we decided to give it a try. The egg sando was pretty decent for what it was. The matcha was good, def more of the earthier taste. The workers were super nice and friendly. The place was definitely really small though, it gives off a cozy vibe. The atmosphere and music instantly grasped my attention! I originally came with intent to order a matcha drink and practice my Japanese in an authentic and respectful manner, and I can say I was able to practice in a way that wasn't awkward or forceful. I excitedly started ordering in Japanese before I had even asked if the woman behind the counter was Japanese but she was really polite about the interaction. I asked if had any recommended matcha drinks for me and I had ordered breakfast as well. Everything was really delicious to me, on top of the already quaint placement of the restaurant. The store was very cute inside and out. Owner/workers were extremely kind and made our drink fast. I really enjoyed the taste of the latte, but it was a lot thicker than what I was use to so that threw me off. Overall it was really good and I would definitely come back to try other drinks/dishes they have! read more
Stopped by here to give their matcha latte a try but was more interested to see that they have hojicha here! Today I got their iced hojicha latte and I love how strong the roasted green tea flavor is in this latte. I also picked up a few cookies since I missed out on the strawberry cookie they gave out during the Uniqlo openings. I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door and my order was made quickly. The cafe area is a little small but it looks like a great place to study or get some work done in the middle of the day. I will be back to try their matcha drinks eventually. :) read more
Love this cute little coffee shop! Have been wanting to try for so long. The drinks are so so good, highly recommend! I got their yuzu drink and hojicha latte, both were amazing. The hojicha latte was somehow not bitter at all. Vibes inside were very peaceful and definitely made me reminiscent of Japan. The sandwich here was delicious. The beef was tender and juicy and the sandwich had great depth of flavor. I also had the mango hojicha which was quite good. Came here post workout and am very pleased with the experience. read more
Such a cute and cozy intimate space that serves up some solid drinks! I got their regular hojicha latte last time I was here which I really loved which brought me back for a second time. During this visit I got a drink from their spring menu, a Sakura Hojicha Latte ($7.5). The hojicha is a lot stronger than the sakura flavor, but still really good and visually appealing. I like that they serve a variety of items including hot plates, desserts, breads, snacks, etc. so you're sure to find something you like for whatever mood you're in for. They have lots of seating including bar and tables but it is a little tight. If you're going to study or get work done they do have a few outlets available if you can get a good spot. I heard about the cafe because they handed out free cookies during one of the Uniqlo grand openings. The mango sauce gives the hojicha mango latte a fruity sweetness. The hojicha latte part has a creamy, nutty, and chocolate-like base flavor. I would recommend it as it's pretty, unique, and tasty. They serve the dine-in hot lattes in a mug with a cute foam design. A lot of the desserts are offered at Mitsuwa. A mix of Japanese families, couples, and mixed friend groups were conversing and eating while there. The cafe looked a little narrow from the outside and seems kind of crowded from the inside, but it's walkable between the high bar, middle row of tables, and back wall tables even with patrons seated. The cafe is decorated with a mix of simplicity and anime wall scrolls. The egg sando was okay. The egg salad was creamy with lots of minced egg whites. I kind of thought the fried garlic pieces do overpower the sando by smell and flavor, so if you're sensitive to it, it may not be for you as it is sold in the refrigerated section. The bread was a little stiff because it had been refrigerated but wasn't overly dry. read more

Very small shop, not a lot of tables or space. Food and drinks were good but VERY overpriced. They don't allow any outside food or beverages.. brought a cupcake for my friends birthday that we weren't even eating there, and they made me put it in a paper bag. Not so good service in my opinion because of that. read more
There were several people studying. It was a quiet, small space. I ordered an iced chai latte with gingerbread syrup and oat milk. It was not my cup of tea, literally, but I saw plenty of people come and go who are regulars. The pork sando was crunchy, but I'd try a different sando if I returned. read more

An adorable and cozy Japanese cafe tucked away beside a sushi restaurant on a busy street. I stumbled across it one day out of curiousity. If you want a nice place to study or grab a coffee with your friends, this is a great choice. Their sandwiches are prepared fresh and each one I've tried thus far have been absolutely delicious! The Ebi Katsu Sando and the Fish sandwich are my favorite. The staff are also adorable, very kind and helpful. Only thing is that it is very small and chances are, you will need to order your meal as takeout- especially at peak lunch hour. Most times it is busy, but for good reason! read more
A solid lunch place. We split the Katsu curry plate, but a few notes: the meat was crispy, but a little tough. The rice was great and sticky. The curry was just spicy enough. However the portion was a little small. The cafe was quite is incredibly adorable and was located next to a Japanese Omakase restaurant. I was definitely drawn there cause of the strawberry sando and it did not disappoint!! Arrived around 8:30 but the chicken katsu curry wasn't available till 9 so we got to wait around in the cafe until 9. There is free water available for customers to drink from the counter as well. The katsu curry was really fresh and flavorful and the rice consistency felt like glutinous rice. The strawberry sando had really fresh strawberries and the cream was not overly sweet. I personally feel like it would have tasted better if the sandwiches weren't toasted but it still surpassed my expectations!! read more

The matcha latte was nice! Almost tastes like matcha Ice cream. The weekend was busy inside with people chatting, eating, or working. It's not too loud so I'll definitely come back on a weekday to check it out and work/study. The food seemed the best made fresh too so would love to come back for lunch. read more

As someone who truly values and supports small businesses, I rarely leave negative reviews. However, my recent experience at Hana was quite disappointing. I ordered the matcha and tamago sandwich, expecting a fresh and thoughtful presentation--especially since matcha preparation is an art in itself. Unfortunately, what I received was a pre-made, bitter matcha that lacked flavor and quality. When I shared my feedback politely, the response I got was dismissive, saying they had already served five that day--as if that negated my experience. I remained courteous and decided to try an iced mocha instead, but that too missed the mark completely. To spend $20 on a bitter drink and a frozen sandwich felt incredibly disheartening. I genuinely wanted to like this place, but sadly, this was one of the most disappointing food experiences I've had in Texas. I couldn't sit and I left. Mocha was bad too, I blame the quick way of makin match and tryna get rid of the order - I could be cancelled I'm pretty much sure they'd blame me :) since, they come across lot of customers negatively bashin, but nah! I've heard great things about Cafe Hana! I stopped by with some friends to check it out. I ordered an iced matcha latte and the katsu sando. The iced matcha latte was smooth, creamy, and not too sweet. The katsu sando was delicious, although I wished it came with a dipping sauce. The staff is very friendly. There's a decent amount of seating, but the tables are close to one another. There are some power outlets, although some extension cords could help. Bathrooms were clean! And there was lots of parking. The menu is kind of limited as of me writing this review, but they definitely have the basics down. I look forward to new menu items to come in the future! read more
