Starbucks is a chain coffee shop that is polarizing to many. Me? I'm a fan, and this location, located in Irving-Las Colinas, has undergone many makeovers. I used to avoid this Starbucks because of crowds and layout, but my most recent visit was great. Starbuck has addressed all the issues that would cause me to avoid this location. Not anymore. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - The biggest change is the Starbucks is noticeably less crowded. But not because people avoid it, but because this location has a ton of upgrades that make ordering and pick up a breeze. After I ordered, the first thing I noticed was two monitors which would display who's drinks were being crafted, and who's is ready for pickup. Also, there is a lot more comfortable seating and a long communal table which makes it great for school or work. 1 Star. Service - Starbucks has a commercial which shows baristas writing notes on your coffee cup. Call me a sucker, but I love it. It's nice to see a handwritten Thank You or some other message. Also, the staff is very efficient because they know timing is key to getting people to their caffeine. Lastly, a staff member even walked by asking how things were. Great! Thanks for asking. 1 Star. Food - Starbucks has food, but if you ask me it's pretty pricey. And either you love their coffee or you don't. Starbucks will rotate a featured drink, which is great if you want to try something new. You can customize any drink you want. My only other comment is that their drinks are very sweet and can be high in calories. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. I used to avoid this location, but not anymore. I first discovered this Starbucks ~10 years ago and thanks to proximity to my office plus great staff, it continues to be my preferred coffee stop when heading into the office. Seeing this is the new listing for this location, an updated review is a must. While the baristas have changed over the years, this location continues to have some of friendliest and most efficient staff around. They do a great job of greeting every customer and for the regulars, they are good at remembering the beverage of choice. This can get quite busy in the morning rush and the line can be as far back as the entrance but the team does a great job of keeping the wait to a minimum. The same is true for the 'mobile orders', they do a great job of keeping up with those and ensuring beverages are ready within 1-2 minutes of the committed time. This will continue to be my go-to location when I go to the office. read more

I had a great experience at this Starbucks this morning! The staff were especially friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. My mobile app order was ready on time and already in cup holders, which made for a quick and easy stop. Best of all, the beverages were made exactly as ordered and tasted delicious. We had seen online that some locations were giving veterans a free coffee on Veterans Day to honor their service so we thought we would stop by. I have Celiac Disease so I don't visit Starbucks often due to the risk of gluten cross-contamination. However, I thought I would treat myself with something special. I looked online and it seemed that the hazelnut syrup would be gluten-free. When we showed up, we were the only people in line. Even so, we waited quite a while before we were able to place our order. We were informed that this location was not participating in Veterans Day so my boyfriend did not order a coffee. I ordered a Café Americano with hazelnut syrup. Then I was told that there was no hazelnut syrup because it "was being reformulated." I asked if they had another gluten-free syrup that I could order but the server had no nutritional information. I was disappointed but I told him just the plain Café Americano and that I would sweeten it myself. We waited a while for my order but when they put it on the counter I looked at it and told the guy (a different guy than the one who took my order) that this wasn't mine. I ordered a plain Café Americano and the label says there is 2 of something added. He says, yes I added 2 sweeteners for you (I still have no idea what he added to my drink!). I told him I had ordered it unsweetened because I wanted to sweeten it myself. He then pointed to a dirty sidebar that was clearly intended to hold different packs of sweeteners and maybe the shaker of cinnamon. He says we don't have that anymore because of COVID. (Note: nothing in current CDC guidelines say you can't have packets of sugar out.) I asked for 2 packs of Sugar in the Raw and he gave them to me. This entire experience was very concerning to me as a consumer. I have allergies and need to know exactly what is added to my food and drinks. Others have diabetes and may need a sugar-free sweetener. It's unsafe and unprofessional to change someone's order intentionally without disclosing that. Also my coffee tasted terrible! I am leaving two stars instead of one because the parking is easy and free, the dining area of the store appeared clean (other than the sidebar) and the staff was polite enough. However, despite its close proximity to my home, I won't ever be patronizing this location again. Steer clear! read more

Visited my least favorite Starbucks today. It's at Hwy 144 & 161 Unfortunately, it's the one right near my home. To think I was so excited to have a Starbucks so close by. That excitement dwindled very quickly, however. The taste of the drink was off on many occasions and unfriendly staff most of the time. When I'm there, believe me when I say it's because I'm either in a hurry or I'm not dressed for the occasion and I'm going right back home, if you know what I mean. For those who don't already know, you get a free hot chocolate every weekend in December if you purchase a grande drink. When I asked for the hot chocolate, Caleb's response was, "You didn't order it on the app?" No Caleb. No drivethru at this location, yet there were 4 baristas making coffee for mobile orders while a Karen takes up 15 minutes buying giftcards for Christmas with apparently only one employee as cashier within the store. Meanwhile, the rest of us stand in line watching the paint dry, staring into nothingness. Word of advice to the morning manager- start doing your job in assisting your cashier with in-store traffic rather than counting peak times with your mobile orders. I placed a mobile, order arrived when it was supposed to be ready. I went to the front and gave my name and the lady was nice, but just wrote my name down. 10 minutes later i asked again and she looked at me and said, "ok, I found your order, then asked them to make it. It was 20 minutes late because they didn't even have any type of plan how to handle orders in which they were received. I try not to give any reviews that are less than positive but this particular location wasn't all that awesome before Covid restrictions and now they are definitely a little less awesome. Takes forever to order and the staff isn't very friendly. I will say that their drinks are pretty consistent so I'll give them a 2 thumbs up for taste and a thumbs down for their service. I usually end up at this location when I'm supposed to go hang out with some friends but ended up over here a little to early to head over to the apartment. Staff has always been nice but drink quality can be hit or miss depending on how busy they are and what you are ordering. So I've had super strong mochas and some weak ones, as well as some chunky frapps ... So if I can I try to stick to a tea when I come here. (Unless they are out which sometimes is the case.) I do wish they had a drive thru but I guess based on where it sits it isn't an option. As well sometimes they have boxes nearly blocking the bathroom doors, I seem to end up coming during delivery but I usually have to dodge a stack of boxes to use the restroom. read more

Most of the Starbucks that I review, I find myself leaving a three star rating. They are all mostly decent (there are a few exceptions), nothing too memorable and they all serve a good cup of coffee. This location in Irving is an exception though...good coffee, nice service, and a spacious interior earns this spot a extra star. The coffee shop is located in a busy area, surrounded by multiple restaurants, yoga spots, and tanning salons. The parking lot can get quite full at times, and you will definitely need to dodge a few cars because it's real busy most of the time. Once you get inside, you'll see that there is plenty of room! Multiple cushy chairs take up a couple of corners. There are multiple tables and chairs that line the walls and the middle of the floor as well. Keep in mind, even with the large number of tables inside, this spot stays so busy that most of them are full at certain points of the day. One pet peeve that I have is the full office meetings that are held in coffee shops. There should be a rule: if you have more than 10 people in your business, please get a office! Pulling 3 tables together in the middle of the floor really disrupts the flow of things. Luckily multiple tables also line the exterior as well...these are nice spots during nice weather, and if you don't mind car exhaust in your face while you sip your beverage. The product itself is real good. I haven't had too many bad drinks at this location. The baristas are on top of their game. Every once in a while at other Starbucks locations, I find myself sipping warm milk without the espresso, but not here...everything is prepared well. The service itself is on point too. Even though this place gets crowded and stays busy, everyone is polite and helpful. That means a lot to me, and is one of the reasons why I give this location the extra star. To sum it up, this Starbucks offers great cups of coffee and food, but it can get quite busy. It's a great option for coffee if you're in the area. read more
