I popped by this coffee shop to pick up a simple cup of joe. I knew they were based out of New Orleans, but they are not kidding around! Every inch of the place is decorated with New Orleans/Mardi Gras themed decor. Lots of beads! I was a little surprised - they don't have a pitcher of milk or creamer for you, rather, a basket of room temperature creamer pods. They have a lot of frozen drinks for the summer months - remember granitas? They looked a little understaffed as the two staff members were hustling to assist the drive-through line, so I had a bit of a wait. I recently stopped by PJ's Coffee and ordered a small brewed coffee along with an order of beignets (which comes with three). Let's start with the positives. The ambiance is nice, clean, and gives you a little taste of New Orleans. The decor is inviting, and the beignets were definitely the highlight of my visit. They were flaky, crispy on the outside, light and layered on the inside, and fried to perfection, not overly doughy. My order was ready in about five minutes, which was also a plus. Unfortunately, customer service is the reason I'm giving this location 3 stars. This was my second visit, and both experiences felt the same. The employees weren't welcoming, there wasn't much of a greeting, and no one offered to help explain the menu. The interaction felt more like a transaction than genuine hospitality. The menu itself is also confusing. Beignets aren't listed on the menu board, so if you didn't already know PJ's sells them, you'd never think to order them. A little guidance from the staff would go a long way, especially for first time guests. One thing I really value is good customer service. I always walk into businesses with a positive attitude, ready to support them, so it's disappointing when employees make customers feel like they're a burden. That kind of atmosphere makes people uncomfortable and ultimately makes them think twice about spending their money there again. As for the coffee, it was just okay. It was served hot, but there wasn't anything memorable about it, and it didn't taste particularly fresh. One suggestion I'd make is to serve the brewed coffee as soon as it's ready instead of waiting until the beignets are finished. I would have preferred to enjoy my coffee while waiting for the fresh beignets to come out. Overall, the beignets are absolutely worth trying, and the cafe itself has a nice atmosphere. I just hope this location improves its customer service because a warmer, more welcoming experience would make a huge difference. read more

I love trying new coffee places so I came here this morning to try PJ's! The atmosphere was relaxed and the service I got was incredible. I got the name of two baristas there Paige and Maggie who were very friendly and helpful. Paige helped me through their menu (where I tried the probably the best beignet I've had) and a really tasty pralines and cream latte! Overall amazing experience here and totally worth the drive up this morning! read more

Tried PJ's for the first time today and this has to be some of the worst coffee i've ever had. Calling it coffee would even be a stretch. If you love ice cream and milkshakes, this will be right up your alley. Me and my girlfriend tried an iced Vanilla latte, with 2 less pumps of syrup, as well as a ginger bread chai. I know especially the ginger bread chai is not going to be a very traditional coffee experience, but this tastes like straight sugar water. The vanilla latte was as-well way too sugary, and had an extremely bad aftertaste. I will not be returning. read more

While taking a break from navigating the madhouse called Dallas traffic, I stopped in at PJ's for coffee. I love small and independent coffee houses. PJ's hit the spot. I ordered a latte that was just right. Having recently had lattes that had a burnt or an aftertaste, it was nice having one that I didn't mind finishing. The spot is not crowded, so I got to have a seat without people being all on top of me. The service at the counter was very welcoming, which is a definite bonus. When next I am visiting I will have to add PJ's to my list of coffeehouses to frequent. read more

The drink was disgusting apparently it is premade coffee and they add sugar cane... if I wasn't regular coffee I would've made it at home. And the worker along with manager were just taking their sweet time like there wasn't line proceeded to charge me extra to change and remake my drink I had to wait in the front so I decided to go in and grab my coffee and it was still WRONG! Went to the grand opening event today and it was PACKED ! But the vibe was so energizing and I had amazing customer service from the baristas. The shop is beautiful, and I love the purple decor (my fav color!). The only reason I knocked off a star is because none of the sampled baked goods I tasted were good. Dry cranberry orange scone, dry oatmeal cookie, brownie underwhelming. But I'm willing to believe this was due to mass producing the samples for the event so I will definitely come back and give food another try. They come in threes and honestly I've eaten two servings without blinking. Just delicious! The interior is cute - NOLA themed. No ambience or anything remotely like Du Monde's in the Quarter - but who cares!?! I'm there for the beignets. Great coffee and food just takes a little patience and time management to fully enjoy what you get from PJ's. They usually have one-two people working at a time through no fault of their own, so I do recommend only swinging by when you know you have the time.
