This is the new cafe at the AKG museum. It's right off the Town Square, bright and airy. They serve mostly small plates along with drink, including wine and beer. You order at the counter, and they then bring the food to your table. There's a nice large container of help yourself cold water on the counter. Seating is available both inside the Cafe and in the Town Square. We waited quite a while for our food, but considering it was opening weekend and there was a large crowd, it's totally understandable. The goat cheese tartine was excellent, and the grilled cheese was tasty. The fruit platter needed help. There were actually no veggies or crispy chickpeas as listed on the menu. As stated before, I'm chalking this up to being new. Overall, I'd definitely give this place another try. 2023-48

There are two things you need to know about me: I love grand bathtubs and eating in museum restaurants. Cornelia checks one of those boxes, and it is great because you can dine "in" or in the middle of the town square area just outside its doors. Basically you are eating food that is art while surrounded by a building that is art that also is a museum of art. Grab a pastry and some coffee, or stay awhile and enjoy their fresh and creative sandwiches, salads, quiches and more!

We have been wanting to try Cornelia (inside the AKG) for a few months and we finally got the chance. We were there at lunch so we had a slightly smaller menu, but we were still pleased with the diversity of options. I follow Chef Jessica Arends on Insta so I went in knowing I wanted to try her new pork belly burnt ends, and it exceeded even my highest expectations! This is one of the most perfect dishes I've tasted all year. The mix of the pork belly and pomegranate was a fantastic flavor combination and greens kept the textures from getting monotonous. Cannot rate this one high enough. We also ordered the chicken and orzo risotto, which was very good. The flavors were a nice mix with the chev and cranberries playing well off each other. Sadly, the chicken was really overdone and dry. I think if it had been cooked better the dish could have been a star as well. Another down note was that the service wasn't great. Maybe it's our fault for choosing to order at the counter and eat outside. Next time we will try to eat in the dinning room with servers because we practically had to drag the order out of the person working the counter (no greeting, no asking what we would like, not asking if we wanted drinks, wandering off when we were trying to pay etc.). Sitting inside would have also helped with the loud people in the lobby area, though I have to say, the ceiling is fun to look at. All in all, this place far exceeds what you'd expect from a museum cafe. Chef Arends is a creative star on the rise for sure and I can't wait to see what she does next.

A great place to sit down and enjoy a meal or a snack at while visiting the AKG! The staff was incredible offering to make someone with us iced tea even though it wasn't in season. The room is beautiful with an amazing mural. There is free water in there which is very nice, you probably could just stop by and grab a sip while wandering the museum. As for the food it's high in price but very good for museum food. The cheese tray is filled with bright fruits and nuts! It also comes with really good pita chips. People with me got the toasted sandwich and really enjoyed it! It even came with a side salad which was nice . The portions here are nice which makes up for some of the pricing. 100% recommend this while you are visiting the AKG!

Service was awesome! Nice soft spoken staff and professional. Our server was observent and kept our drinks full. She made sure to check up on us often and made sure we had everything we needed Cocktails: Joan: It was okay flavor. Says it has Ube and was expecting more purple color. Disappointed it wasn't more colorful and had no extra garnish. Boring cocktail. 2/10 Kiki: Was pretty and was sweet tasting. No garnish or uniqueness to it. 4/10 Arshile: Was very flavorful! Best cocktail with a bright refreshing green color. Cucumber flavor is prominent and loved it. Wish it had something unique or a garnish. 6/10 Appetizers: Chorus of the deep had buttery pea broth with brined octopus. - Presentation was 10/10 with the colors changing from blue to purple with the addition of lime -Taste was bland 5/10 It was a cool visual experience but I wish the octopus had a more umami or spicy sauce to dip in. It was plain by itself in the broth. There were thinly sliced chilies and beets but not enough to flavor the octopus. Definitely a visual experience over a flavorful one. Flat 12 Mushroom and leak strudel was amazing. -Taste and presentation 10/10 It was very flavorful and texture was awesome with crispy outside crust and savory filling. If you like mushrooms, this is the best showcase for its flavor! My favorite dish out of all of them. Wish I could get the recipe :) Turkey noodle soup Presentation: 5/10 Taste: 8/10 Very flavorful soup and was delicious. The presentation was standard. Had a small cup and it was really filling. The broth was comforting and warmed me up. Felt like a hug definitely recommend if you are a soup person! Entrees: Salmon with squid ink pasta Presentation: 7/10 Taste: Salmon- 7/10 Pasta- 5/10 The contrast of the bright orange plate and black pasta was a nice creative choice. Salmon was very good, flaky and flavorful! The pasta was okay. It reminds me of eating hair so it kinda made me lose my appetite... the taste was good!! But maybe using a different type of pasta would be better for texture and presentation wise. My friend loved it so I let her take the rest in a box lol Duck Confit: Presentation: 7/10 Taste: Duck-7/10 Risotto- 9/10 The duck was flavorful and crispy! I normally don't like the taste of duck but it was cooked in a way that it wasn't as gamey as expected. Almost comparable to dark meat on a turkey leg. The Risotto was amazing. Very nice texture and bite to it. There were peas but it was cooked well so it wasn't overpowering. Very filling and comforting :) would order again! Dessert: Honey Matcha Crème Brûlée. Presentation: 8/10 Taste: 6/10 Very flavorful with the matcha but not really sweet. A light dessert and earthy flavor. My friend loved it! For me not so much... it's an acquired tasted based on how much you like matcha. Lemon Meringue Presentation: 10/10 Taste: 10/10 Best sweet dish here. Very light, refreshing and flavorful! The meringue melts in your mouth and has a mild sweetness to it. The lemon and blackberry sauces were beautifully plated with the garnishes and felt like an elegant dish. There was not a crumb left at the end haha definitely would order again! Highly recommended!! Tahitian Vanilla and brown butter cheese cake Presentation: 6/10 Taste: 6/10 Very sweet and a satisfying way to end a meal. Love cheese cake and definitely can taste the nuttiness of the browned butter. It's was pretty much what you expect from a cheese cake. Wish it had more uniqueness in the plating.

Wow - what a great experience we had here this past Thursday night! We made a reservation for 4 for 7pm on Thursday, one of the two nights they are open for dinner each week. The menu looked fantastic and what drew us in was the ube creme brulee. My husband and I are huge ube dessert fans so we knew we had to try it. Being that it was my birthday dinner, they even gave me my ube brulee for free! Not only was the dessert we ended with as delicious as expected, but every single dish we tried was fantastic. Everything was plated beautifully and the portions were quite generous. Our server was friendly and witty and kept us entertained. Somehow we ended up being here for 2 hours and closed the place out, but I think they were just letting us enjoy our experience at a leisurely pace! If you're looking for a quick bite, this probably won't be your best bet but don't pass this place up if you get the chance. The bread with oil and balsamic to start was warm, fresh, and absolutely delicious. We also ordered the whipped feta to start and it was creamy, so flavorful and topped with warm olives. We ordered the salmon (2 of us), scallops, and filet and all 4 dishes were amazing. I'd order any of them again! I'd definitely return here and hope they switch up the menu seasonally so we can see what else this great chef comes up with!

We visited the AKG art gallery and stopped at their eatery inside for a bite to eat. This board was so delish and a LOT of food for the 2:of us. They had a nice selection of plates and drinks. The fish dinner looked amazing. The place is all natural light and was very relaxing. The service was excellent and people were very polite. Very nice and simple but elegant. Will be back.

i went for dinner and it was an incredible treat. the drinks were beautiful and tasted as good as they looked, and my scallops were the most buttery scallops i've ever tasted. everything down to even the water tasted good. we were the only table they were serving currently so we got excellent service. would definitely go back

Very nice! Casual and bright cafe. Parking validated if you're a member of the art museum. Food and service were beautiful.

The protein choices are: 4 flavors of chicken, 2 flavors of tri-tip steak, Korean BBQ pork or tofu. The protein is served on purple rice with a side of Cole slaw. For our additional sides( choices were sweet potatoes, rosemary potatoes, Brussels sprouts, mac and cheese. I picked both of the potato sides. The Cole slaw seemed watery, and the steak, which had nice flavor, was a bit chewy. I think tri-tip tends to be tougher as it has little or no fat on it. The potatoes and rice were nice and flavorful. I have had very good bowl meals here in the past. I think the bowls, with more ingredients served together, is a better flavor boost than "the Box".

I miss Cafe 59...and used to overlook the fact that potato wedges aren't included with the sandwiches, the falafel burger is always mushy in the middle, they don't include enough dressing with their salads...and things are sloppily prepared. I overlooked all of that because they use whole foods and the taste was decent. Fast forward to 2025, I've included a photo of a turkey burgundy sandwich with a small bag of Lay's (weird choice, but ok) and a pickle spear, which costs $17.25 before you even add tax or tip. What?? I totally get that costs are rising for everyone including restaurants, but this isn't in line with what you can get at other places, even on the same street. If you can't sell your original menu at reasonable prices anymore, then you need to adjust it. We won't be back.

We were both super happy with our selections and were eager to have the opportunity to try more. They seem to be known for scratch cooking and locally sourced produce...so, I was pretty disappointed this time when I ordered a side of turkey sausage with my pancakes. It's very obviously a mass produced frozen product. It's exactly like Banquet or Hormel brown n' serve frozen turkey sausage links that you can get from Walmart. It was super spongy inside and the outside was browned but wrinkly and soggy. The taste wasn't awful or anything...I just expected much better. Another recent reviewer mentioned that their chicken cutlet was a strange texture and, by the waiter's admission, the restaurant orders it precooked. This doesn't seem to align with their philosophy of scratch made and local. The pancakes were ok. The flavor was nice but they were pretty dense. I wouldn't order them or the turkey sausage again. I'm not giving up on Salty Chefs yet though!! I know they have some great food, I'll just try different items on the menu to find it...but I'm not super patient when it comes to spending our hard earned money.
