Tucked away and easy to miss, it's truly one of Buffalo's hidden gems, made even more memorable by the thoughtful touches, including a tour of the historic vault and a glimpse into the building's rich past. You can tell the chef takes real pride in every plate. I came in craving a steak, and the filet absolutely delivered. That said, the standout for me was the crispy fried parmesan potatoes - easily the star of the night. Perfectly crisp, incredibly flavorful, and honestly unforgettable. I started with the chopped salad, which was a bit overdressed for my taste; next time I'd ask for the dressing on the side. Still, overall, the meal was thoroughly enjoyable. Sharing the experience with a friend made it even better, and we were lucky enough to get a personal tour from the chef himself. Vault@237 has been on my "want to try" list for a while. Finally, the opportunity came to grab dinner here with a friend, a fellow Yelp Elite, and in a few words, it was a great experience! Looking on social media (Facebook, Instagram), I read from their official channel that Vault@237 validates parking for the parking garage on 93 Pearl St., so that immediately eased my anxiety of finding a (zero-cost) parking spot in downtown Buffalo, a little bit. The 93 Pearl St. parking garage looks... dicey on the inside, but I was able to find a spot with ease on a Wednesday night, around 5:45pm. But to be honest, the parking garage was fine and was pretty secure as you need the ticket to walk back into the garage. The parking garage is super close to Vault@237, so it really is convenient. We came in around 6pm and were immediately seated at a table for two near the middle of the restaurant. As you walk in, there's a large bar that's well stocked with various spirits and some TVs playing. As I walked in, I wondered what the dress code would be like inside, and I was relieved to see it was casual - No need to "dress to the nines". The woman working behind the bar was personable. The host, and our waiter, Joshua, was excellent! Right from the start, he was friendly, personable, very accommodating; He did a great job checking on us throughout our meal and was able to hook us up with a tour of the bank vault AND the Admiral Room! Looking at Vault@237's cocktail menu, their Peach Bourbon Smash (Evan Williams Peach Bourbon, Peach Schnapps, simple syrup, ginger beer, and lime (then topped with a peach slice). Arriving in a Moscow Mule copper cup, this was a great "sipper", simply delicious! Once we had our waters and my cocktail, we placed our dinner orders, then sat and caught up for about 20-25 minutes, which I thought was reasonable for what we ordered. What did I order for dinner? I went with the Vault Burger, which is a short rib & brisket blend burger (cooked medium) topped with aged cheddar cheese, maple pepper bacon, roasted tomato, and chipotle aioli, with a big piece of green, crisp lettuce and a few pickle slices, which seemed homemade, hand-sliced to me, and a generous portion of hand-cut fries! To put it simply, the burger was awesome! The burger was cooked perfectly, there was a nice touch of pink in the center, and the meat was incredibly tender and juicy! I appreciated that it wasn't a smash-style burger patty like so many restaurants have switched to. The maple pepper bacon was cooked nicely, a good balance between chewy and crispy. The roasted tomato was plentiful and added a pleasant zesty flavor. The hand-cut fries were cooked nicely with a soft and thick center and crispy on the ends. The fries had a good amount of salt and black pepper on top, so if you're sensitive to salt, you may want to ask them to go lighter here. Now, the price of this meal is certainly on the higher end, but I think for the quality and quantity of food, it makes sense. The burger on its own is easily one of the better burgers I've had in quite some time. Between my meal and my friend's meal, it's easy to see the chef really cares about the food coming out of the kitchen and has a great amount of pride in what they do! As a bonus, the chef himself gave a handful of us a tour of the original bank vault in the basement, as well as the Admiral Room, a gorgeous ballroom, upstairs! The architecture and history are fascinating, so articulate! The chef was an excellent guide and did a wonderful job showcasing these beautiful spaces. Vault@237 was a wonderful dining experience! The staff, the food, the space are great! I will not hesitate to come back for another Peach Bourbon Smash and Vault Burger, or perhaps I'll order their Pork Belly Meatloaf; That sounded excellent, came highly recommended by the chef! read more

I had a great experience here. I wasn't able to go see the vault due to a private party but I'm not going to count that against them lol. We ordered a couple of drinks which were fine but the food was just fantastic! I got the short ribs which have such a good and different blend of flavors. I highly recommend that! My fiancée ordered a special, a bbq burger and that was great too, but a little messy for me. We were able to try the vinegar aioli with the fries, which was awesome. I also really enjoyed our server. She was really sweet and attentive. It wasn't super busy and the atmosphere as a whole was just nice. Ladies night this January . We finally got to try this Downtowm restaurant . They offered to break up the table into 4 separate checks . Server was efficient but not too friendly , however I found the bartender to be really hospitable. I got a seafood pasta dish and it was super tasty . We recently were able to visit the Vault @237 finally after they closed before we could get there. The space is gorgeous and huge. We didn't get to see the vault because a group had the room it's in. The service was very excellent and we were well attended to. We ordered a couple of appetizers: calamari and pork belly. The calamari was only rings which always makes me think it isn't going to be fresh but the texture was good and it was perfectly cooked if a little boring with a chunky aioli with little added flavor. The pork belly dish had better presentation and flavor but the pieces of candied bacon on the plate outshone the pork belly slices. I had a shrimp and lobster pasta dish that was very good. The lobster gave great flavor and I wished it was all lobster. One of the best seafood pasta dishes I ever had though. My husband had their brisket and short rib blend burger and it was a perfect medium rare and had great flavor. Fries were very nice too, crispy, and there wasn't a ridiculously oversized portion of them which we actually appreciated. We shared a delicious salted caramel custard for dessert. Sublime and sprinkled with flaky salt. The drinks were also very nice, and beautifully presented. We plan to visit again. read more

First time here and it was ok. We went for trivia night and it was fun but the seating didn't suit well because we were far away and couldn't really hear. It would be nice if they had a designated section to host trivia. It was very busy for a Tuesday which I was surprised about because I never hear of anyone going here so I must be a secret spot. We started at the bar and ordered a bottle of wine but got served the wrong type. The bartender just poured the glasses out which was surprising me wasteful especially when they told us they didn't have the bottle of wine we actually asked for an now we needed to buy a more expensive bottle and pay the extra! So started off rocky...The vibe is nice if you're going for date night in the city or happen to be in the area. We only tried appetizers so I cannot speak to the meals. The meatballs were decent and the sauce they were in was very good but I was disappointed there was no ricotta on top like the menu stated. The waitress did not come back timely so I couldn't mention it to her as well as the buffalo cauliflower was pretty dry and I wish I would have came with a dipping sauce (wanted to ask for ranch but the waitress did not come back). The waitress was very nice and we had a big table but I think they may have been short staffed and she was also helping someone else out that she was not attentive to refilling water or any drinks. The menu and food were excellent but unfortunately the service did not match the quality of the kitchen. The lighting was extremely bright with a mix of warm and cool tones that felt overwhelming and took away from the atmosphere. For a space called The Vault it really misses the mark on a prohibition style cozy intimate vibe. It would benefit greatly from warmer dimmer lighting so you actually feel like you are in a vault. The music was also a distraction. A loud radio station with announcements completely killed the ambiance. Something like low volume jazz or instrumental music would better complement the space and its potential. I ordered a spicy margarita that was underwhelming and unfortunately there was hair on the rim of the glass which was disappointing. Overall this place has so much potential. The Vault@237 has recently reopened after making some changes and my group and I were looking forward to checking them out. We had an early dinner reservation for three on a weekday and it was really easy to get a table. When I arrived I was pleased to see a really cool bar area and what I would describe as a swanky environment with fun touches of the history of the building... like that it was an old bank and many of the features used back in the day are still present... although likely not still being used in its original fashion. Like the vault in the basement that you can dine in. It also gives off a vibe that it's possibly "haunted." I asked our waitress and she confirmed there are numerous stories floating around out there about paranormal activity. Anyhoo, our service was great from the jump and the menu had everything from a classic house cheeseburger to elevated seafood dishes. Our table decided to start with the calamari and charcuterie. The calamari was way too salty in my opinion but I liked the variety of items on the charcuterie board. As for my entree I went with the scallops, which came with a lobster risotto, fried capers, and a rich, buttery sauce. The risotto was lovely but I prefer my scallops to be a bit more seared. Lastly, we each got dessert to go. I went with the cheesecake because it's my number one go-to, but It was rather basic in my opinion and it didn't taste like they made it themselves, but who knows. This spot lived up to the hype for me! We got there right when they opened for dinner the other night and we were blown away but how cool this place is. The food was equally as impressive! We were one of the only tables in the whole restaurant. Our server was so great and very friendly. We ordered some cocktails which were delicious and didn't feel too heavy or even too light. I ordered the steak and my wife ordered the crab and shrimp pasta. The steak was cooked to perfection and came with some great sweet potatoes. The food was excellent and not overly filling where we had enough room for dessert. We had the Heath bar cheesecake and it was the perfect ending to the meal. Went for a dinner meeting and was excited to finally check out the space since it reopened. I was not disappointed by both the food and checking out the cool space that's inside an old bank. For dinner, I got the Pork belly meatloaf which at first I was beating myself up for for trying something so basic but it was delicious and I haven't stopped thinking about it since I had it. For the table, we got a charcuterie board as well as calamari, both of which were fine. And in terms of a drink, I had the Georgia Sun, which was dangerously easy to drink, haha! For dessert, I got the chocolate cake which was yummy as well. Overall, the food experience was definitely a great one. And I would go back just to try more of the cocktails on their menu as well. Lastly, we were able to get a bit of a mini tour of the space and check out the old bank vault, which is now used to host small meetings as well as some of the event space they have down below. I was finally able to get back in here after they reopened for dinner. Wow, I was not expecting the food to be so amazing. We started with the charred burrata which was perfect. The fig, arugula, pistachio and crispy prosciutto were portioned perfectly and had all the right flavors to balance out the dish. The mains were cooked perfectly, had the perfect amounts of sweetness, heat, salt, seasoning and fat. For dessert we had salted caramel crème brûlée which was to die for. Yummy creamy custard with the perfect portions of sweet and salty. They knew how to take classic dishes and make them more interesting than what you have tried before without going too out there for people with a standard palette but interesting enough for people who want to try something new. Also we brought a cake to the dinner and was charged a $13 fee just to cut the cake. My visit here was not just a meal but also a blast from the past. I had lunch here with 2 friends. We had all worked for Marine Midland Bank and were curious to see the transformation of this space. We arrived before the rush crowd and asked if it was possible to see the actual Vault area. Our server, Alexis said certainly but asked us to wait a few minutes while she went downstairs to turn on the lights. How nice. We then got a tour of the space, starting with the old safe deposit boxes and ending at the actual Vault. This area is used for private parties. It's such a nice setting. I think Alexis was as excited about showing us and talking about the place as we were to see it! Lunch itself was very good. I enjoyed my Mahi Mahi tacos. It was a perfect combination of flavors with the Mahi Mahi being the star of the dish. My friends both had the Vault chicken sandwich. Neither had tasted kimchi before, so they ordered it on the side. Smart move since neither really cared for it. There was nothing wrong with it, just personal taste. My gain, though, since I love it! My son had his wedding reception downstairs in the vault. It was a very small reception and let me say it was ... AMAZING...they could not have been more accommodating to our needs... THE FOOD...AGAIN...AMAZING... the meatball slider appetizer was to die for. The appetizer table was replenished AND as everyone was pretty full and waiting for dinner there was a lot leftover on this table. They packaged the leftover appetizers for the guests to take home...I cannot say enough about this place. The room was super cool and everyone was so impressed. We went for dinner on a Saturday night and it was busy but not overally packed. The staff was kind and helpful. Overall, the decor doesn't feel special but more like a hotel restaurant. It's modern but nothing too unique. We started off with two drinks: the Vault Old fashioned and the Lemon Sorbet Martini. Both were good, but not special. The Old Fashioned had a whole slice of orange and a maraschino cherry, which are telltale signs that this is not a high end cocktail place. With that being said, the drinks weren't bad, just not amazing. I did enjoy my glass of wine! We got the Charred Burrata appetizer, which was recommended by our waitress. It was outstanding! The presentation was different than we were expecting but the depth of flavors were delicious. For our meals, we got the burger and the scallops. The burger was super delicious and a great combo of flavors. It was melt in your mouth- the fries were fresh with good flavor and crispy as well. The Day Scallops were good. The scallops cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth! The lobster risotto that came with it was good, but not over the top- felt like it needed to be creamier or more flavor or something. For dinner I had the salmon like is said it was good but not especially delicious. As a home cook - I could have made this at home. For me this place was average. I'm not a big fan of traveling to the city to eat. Parking was a pain and the location was odd because they said it was on Main Street but you actually walk in on the corner of Seneca and Washington, so it was confusing. The ambience is cool so for that I do give 5/5. I like the theme they chose and the indoor decor was fitting. They also have prohibition style drinks so that is also on theme if that's your thing! Regarding food, I just felt it was average. They don't have a huge menu and to me the pricing was high for what you get. Worst "fine dining" experience I've ever had ! STAY AWAY! My gf and I had reservations on Valentine's Day at 7:30 that I had made a month prior. We arrived 15 mins early and immediately upon waking in the hostess gave us a hand signal that she was on the phone. We stood there awkwardly waiting while she talked on the phone. Not that big of a deal, just unprofessional imo. She found our reservation and told us to wait at the bar until the table was ready. I've never seen a bartender so incompetent. I thought we were on a hidden camera show. My girlfriend happens to like margaritas which she asked for. Bartender gave us a look and said they don't usually make those but he'll do his best. Came back over and asked was type of tequila she wanted. She said anything top shelf. He then asked US what was top shelf tequila. Huh? This all made sense when we saw another couple literally showing the bartender a google search of the ingredient list for their drinks. As we're having a drink I hear another couple walk in and say that they were early and their reservations were for 7:45. The hostess immediately took them to a table. Again, huh? I asked the hostess what was going on and she decided to lie to us instead of admitting to forgetting about us. Her response was that she told us to tell her when we were ready. Not true. We get to our table but couldn't bring the drinks over without paying for them first at the bar which was 10 feet away. Never have I been to a restaurant that does that. Just add it to the bill. We are given confusing menus with zero explanation when the waitress comes over. She just asks what we want. Didn't explain the choices or how the menu worked. One of the appetizers was cauliflower with franks hot sauce and blue-cheese, lol. I ordered the crab lobster tale. Ate the entire meal in 2 bites. Had to be a 6oz tail. My gf had the filet mignon. It was tough. She also asked for the Caesar salad but asked for chicken on it. The waitress said she would have to ask the cook because they don't usually do that. When the salad came over there was, what looked like chicken wing drum sticks in the salad with the bones and all. Bizarre. At this point we just wanted to get the bill and leave. We decided to pass on desert but was never offered to take it to go especially after finding out it was included, which we were never told. The final bill for a night of "insane dining" was $245 for the two of us. We stopped at McDonald's on was home and had a waaaaay better dining experience. The grand finale to everything that night was that this place doesn't even have the big bank vault door, lmao. I know my experience is not unique as I know two other couples who had reservations the night before. One couple reported the same type of unorganized unprofessionalism and the other couple waited at the bar so long to be seated they eventually left. A bunch of untrained, and unprofessional staff lying and ripping off costumers! Save your hard earned money and go someplace else. We loved vault@237! Very simple, well-edited menu, great for carnivores. Service was delightful, even though our waiter seemed a bit rushed. We went on their 19th day of business, it appears they are still hiring & working out some kinks. Ambience is wonderful, nice bar (with great cocktails & fantastic whiskey selection) at seneca street entrance (near baseball field) which is where you'll find the hostess stand. Main Street entrance brings you to dining area. No free or dedicated parking, and no plans to create parking space, so allow time & a little $ for this. $17 Meatball appetizer was delicious, made with beef, veal & pork with marinara, roasted peppers, decadent whipped ricotta & toasted bread (menu states this is served with garlic bread, but we received what looked & tasted like plain toasted bread), served in an adorable cast iron pot. $18 Vault burger is chef's special blend, caramelized onion aioli, homemade bacon jam, lettuce, tomato, red onion & your choice of cheese. $17 Vault chicken sandwich was buttermilk marinated, as promised fried to perfection & bathed in a lusciously delicious hot pepper honey sauce! Chef was accommodating enough to sub the burger patty with their onion smash burger, (which is served with embedded white onions & at an appealing medium-well temp, whereas the vault burger meat can be cooked to your desired temp). Truffle fries were worth the $6 upcharge, especially dipped in their garlic aioli, which we were happy to have served in a separate little ceramic vessel. Must save room for dessert next time. We were unable to view the main attraction, which is the actual bank vault, due to Rich Products hosting a special event in it (kudos to this business for already booking with local leaders). Four of us dined on Saturday night, celebrating Mother's Day. I was pleased when we entered because there was a coat rack and we were greeted warmly. We had a reservation and we were promptly taken to our table on the other end of the restaurant. The dining room is a long space with a bar area at the front and tables through to the back. The lighting was perfect. Dim and comfortable but not so dark that you could not read the menu. It was a little too cold in there and my mother kept her winter jacket on most of the evening. There was a wedding going on upstairs, but once they closed the door, I was surprised that you could not hear the music. We had a nice meal. I especially thought the burrata and calamari appetizers were great! I had a house salad and the aged strip steak. I would be lying if I said I was not disappointed with my steak. It was very grizzly and needed salt (an unseasoned steak it just lack luster, ya know?) It was cooked perfectly and like everything else we had, was presented very nicely. My husband's ribeye (on special) was much better. We also enjoyed a bottle of Malbec and a for desert, a layered mousse (so good). After dinner, we were treated to a tour of the vault below. My friends and I walked in on a Friday night for a post-dinner drink. We were greeted with snarkiness and judging looks and comments. As 29 year old girls celebrating a friend's birthday, we simply came to Vault for a good time and were completely disappointed and will not be returning. From the moment we walked in, we got the comment "good luck with them" (heard from a server) and "you have to leave by 10" from the bartender. We decided to stay beside the comments and regretted our decision the moment our bartender got snarky and rolled her eyes as she said "I assume this will be all separate checks". This was our first time coming here and we loved it! It was quiet because they were closing soon but we still had time to grab some appetizers, dessert and drinks. We were seated immediately and our waitress was really nice. I love that a lot of their items are made in house and fresh so we will definitely come back for dinner. My husband ordered the wings (medium with chipotle bbq) and I had the calamari. They didn't have any cocktail sauce but the two sauces they did provide were good. I had the opportunity to dine at Vault@237 last month with a large group of friends. We get together to try out different restaurants on a monthly basis. When I first walked in, I was very impressed with the decorating. The bar is absolutely gorgeous. Definitely an upscale option for a happy hour after work (if you are downtown). The lights are rather dim, which makes it feel more intimate, and everything feels nicely spread out (nobody wants to feel cramped). We were quickly seated at our table (yup, they take reservations) and were greeted by a kind waiter. The drink menu is rather extensive with higher-end liquor options. I'll be honest - I forgot which drink I ordered that night, but it was a delicious bourbon-based drink! Now, let's get to the food. The menu has a wide variety of options for everybody yet it is not too extensive. They have a small selection of appetizers - the mac and cheese appeared to be a hit, the salads looked great, and my friend enjoyed the french onion soup. The entrees are outstanding. I stepped out of my comfort zone by ordering the pappardelle stroganoff and it was outstanding. The dish was served hot, the portion size was rather large, and it tasted delicious! Another one of my friends ordered the same dish and he was also very pleased. The burgers also looked fantastic - I would definitely try one next time. On another note, one of my friends ordered a pasta dish which he did not like ( I believe it is no longer on the menu), however our waiter offered to replace the dish with another entrée at no cost, which was a classy move. I had a taste of it and it was okay, though a tad salty. Still, when a restaurant offers to comp your meal or replace it with another dish, that shows they genuinely care about their clientele. Deserts are a must while at Vault. I absolutely loved the banana foster bread putting (yes, it's literally a mouthful!). The strawberry cheesecake and chocolate torte were also very well received at our table. I somehow managed to finish the whole thing! Despite having recently opened, this restaurant is ran very well. The staff is outstanding, even with large groups. We were welcomed and were very happy with the experience. I HIGHLY recommend it! read more

Wow! This new restaurant in downtown Buffalo lived up to the hype. In the basement of the Marin Building in a former bank, it transports you to the 1920s with its dark yet lively vibe. The bar is large and offers comfy seats and every type of cocktail you could like to start off your experience. The food was delicious, and it was hard to even narrow down our options as everything on the menu looked amazing. We had meatballs and French onion soup to start followed by short ribs and the chicken sandwich for dinner. We upgraded the sandwich to get macaroni and cheese as a side, and we were not disappointed. The short ribs were definitely the star of the show, though. It was amazing. I can't wait to go back for more meals and for a happy hour. It's a vibe. read more

I had ordered the 14oz strip steak & she got the Vault Burger with fries. Excellent presentation & tasted amazing! Michael was our server & did a fantastic job as well. As for the ambiance, the background music was good. However, the only suggestion I'd make is perhaps "dimming" the overhead lights a bit. Otherwise, a 5 out-of 5 stars overall rating. read more

For being a fairly new restaurant I'm giving them credit on menu and preparing. We ordered steak and it was "ok". Not like top 5 steak in Buffalo but I'd like to try other things on the menu that people reviewed because it sounds good. What was amazing was the desert! The banana bread pudding is to die for!! I'd go back just for that and a drink at the beautiful bar. One recommendation is could the play some light music like jazz or something! I could hear everyone's thoughts and conversations. On June 8th, my husband, cousin and I went to Vault 237 for the first time. We made reservations for 7 PM just in case there was a Saturday night crowd. Well when we walked in we quickly realized we did not need to make reservations as the place was very quiet. The restaurant itself was not what I was expecting...their website boasts that this is a "prohibition themed bar and restaurant celebrating Buffalo's rich and energetic history from the roaring 1920's". I have to say that I felt as though the restaurant decor missed the mark. The only thing that felt "1920's" were the black and white photos. While the interior is beautiful, it wasn't what I was expecting. We started by ordering some cocktails. I requested an espresso martini (not on the menu) and my cousin asked for a mojito (also not on the menu). The server seemed unsure if they were able to accommodate so he had to check with the bar. Unfortunately they were unable to make either of the drinks, not a huge deal as they were not on the menu. I ended up ordering the Georgia Sun which was very refreshing and perfect for summer! For starters we ordered the charred burrata, pork belly, calamari and buffalo cauliflower. The charred burrata was very good, the portion size made it difficult to share with three people but we made it work. The pork belly was a disappointment, it was dry and a bit overcooked. The calamari with the banana pepper aioli was delicious albeit a touch on the saltier side. The buffalo cauliflower was perfect, not too drenched in hot sauce, still a little crunch. For our entrees, I ordered the day boat scallops. The scallops looked phenomenal when they came out however they were a tad over cooked making the texture off. The risotto had big chunks of lobster in it. It was delicious despite the scallops being a little over cooked. My husband ordered the prime rib special, his plate was clean by the end of the meal and I did not hear one complaint. My cousin ordered the roasted chicken. She said she enjoyed it very much and would gladly go back. We did order desserts to go. We ordered all three of the desserts they had, a Carmel custard, a heath bar cheesecake and a chocolate cake. The desserts were all divine and I would highly recommend trying them whether at the restaurant or at home! Now we did not actually get to see the Vault....the restaurant did pick up a bit and our server was quite busy. There seemed to only be one server and one bartender working so we opted to come back at another time and check it out! We plan on returning and trying more of the menu items!! read more

Best new place in town to meet up for lunch, dinner, apps, and cocktails. I love it here. The prohibition theme is tasteful and absolutely classy, nothing overdone. The photos and decor artwork tell a true story about the history and purpose of the original building. And THE VAULT is in the basement, accessed like a "secret speakeasy."
