We came midweek for lunch, and although initially we were the only patrons, there was soon a steady flow of people. Firstly, the restaurant is a knockout: Huge, elegant glass lanterns and a central chandelier; trefoil-shaped doorways, comfortable booths and tables to seat 20. The pastry cases immediately to the right of the entrance capture the imagination! We split a dolmas plate to start, and although this may seem like an odd thing to mention, the olive oil poured over it was fantastic. It was a rich green, fruity one, and it might have been the best I've ever had. The mixed grill was a variety of marinated meats over a rice pilaf, with bread and salad. We split a single one, and it was just right for two people! Finally, there were slices of cake: Pistachio and chocolate. Both were excellent! Growing up in the Middle East, I am very picky about by Middle Eastern food. That being said, we decided to try out Sofra. We tried a variety of kebabs I was familiar with. The variety of kebabs were made well, seasoned well, and not dry. The Pides were just as I remember them tasting when I was a child, so I was fond of them too. First time eating Turkish style food. The place is very large, clean and very warm and inviting. It appears they are doing work to add more tables as well. Our server was super sweet. The food was good. Not sure what I was expecting, I thought maybe overly spiced but it was not. The portion were very generous. The menu is large, I did enjoy on the back page there were chef recommendations. My only thing, I wished the menu had a bit more explanations of the dish, not being Turkish, some of the items were not clear, so I had to spend some time googling. We started the meal with some Turkish tea and Turkish coffee and the baba ganoush and pita which were good. the pita had a flavor I had never had before it was really good. I got the beyti kebab, it was tasty. The meat seasoned nicely with what I now know what wrapped in a tortilla type item. I did not like the yogurt sauce by itself but when I ate it with the kebab it was very good. I was with friends who had the mixed grill, which was very very good and the homemade manti which was a pasta dish. The pasta was so silky and flavorful. The bakery.... AMAZING! There were so many options. We had the baklava which I will say maybe the best I've ever had! I also got a bunch of different type of cookies to take home, and just delicious. Enjoyed a delicious lunch at Sofra including 1 piece of lahmacun as an appetizer (which was large and could be shared by at least 2 people), and the (vegetarian) mushroom pide, which when I added the crushed red pepper on the table to it, took it from good to amazing! Met up with some friends for lunch here this week. It was a little hard to find since Google Maps brought me to the Wegmans on Dick Road and go through the parking lot to the restaurant. First impression when I walked in was how clean the place was. The menu was pretty big with lots of variety. I think it would have been a little more helpful to have the waitress talk about the menu and what other people typically ordered. I enjoyed the kebabs i ordered along with the baba ghanoush appetizer we shared. The other dishes my friends got were just okay. Just not my cup of tea. The dessert case on the way out is a 10 out of 10. I honestly wished I lived closer to try everything in the case! We did try the baklava which was really good. I really enjoyed this restaurant for several reasons. The dessert case is delightful! The food is good. The young couple who own it are such hard workers. The restaurant is a large space and it was filled with lots of happy families when we were there. I ordered what is called a Mushroom Pide. It's a thick dough that is filled with a variety of vegetables. It was good, not necessarily mushroom but it was still good. Everyone else order mixed kebab dinners which they all thought were delicious. The menu is extensive so there should be something for everyone. I love a good dessert case and theirs spoke directly to me. I could easily go just for that and every single thing I got from it ( which was a lot) was delicious. I have been meaning to check this spot out for awhile since they opened a few months ago. I live nearby so it would be great to add a new spot to my usual selection of places close to home when I don't feel like cooking. I am happy that I finally checked it out! We went over for lunch and it blew away my expectations. First of all, you would never know how big the inside is until you go in. It's HUGE! There are some booths and other tables available with a huge case for their bakery products too. Being new to Turkish food, I was a little lost when I opened the menu. The owner was working and came over to help us navigate what would be good for lunch and explain what some of the menu entailed. We ended up getting some pides. Both of them were huge portions. We ended up splitting some of each which is the best way to try new food. The mixed meat pide was delicious. It reminded me of a pizza or calzone with the meat and cheese on the bread. I would definitely get that again. The desserts were incredible in the case. There were cookies, cakes, puddings, tiramisus, you name it. I opted for the carrot cake which was very good! The cake was moist and the cream cheese frosting in between the layers was phenomenal. RUN, don't walk and try this new spot out. No tourist crowds here & no crazy tourist trap prices! While visiting the Niagara Falls area my husband was craving authentic home style Turkish food. Sofra made our last day in the area a happy memorable one with every dish being perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and delicious. The Kimali pide, mixed grill, lamb chops, manti, & lamacun were all so delicious we left so stuffed. They also have an extensive bakery & desert selection but we unfortunately could not fit another bite. It all looked so good tho. Service was excellent. The space is airy, spotlessly clean, new & elegant with minimalist decor. There's parking out front and the prices are reasonable. If you want an excellent meal I highly recommend Sofra. Yummy yummy so delicious! Everything was so fresh and tasty. We started with the hummus and bread so so tasty! We also split the chicken and shish kabob with rice both again were very good! For dessert I tried the rice pudding and we also tried the tiramasu again delicious! There is a ton of seating here and to be honest the service wasn't great. Needed to ask for almost everything ourselves and they really need to turn some of the lights either down or off because it's absurdly bright inside. Went for lunch and though I've had some offerings of Turkish cuisine it was the first time I've tried a Pide. As our server described, it's essentially a Turkish pizza or flatbread. I got the Sofra special Pide, which came with Turkish pastrami, Turkish sausage, ground meat, mushrooms, and topped with Kashar cheese and egg. At first, I wasn't sure how I'd feel with all those different things on it, but it was delicious and tasted just as good for leftovers. It was a good size too, and definitely something that could be shareable. My friend also got one as well that was similar, called the Mix Pide. I also got a drink, which was a canned Apricot juice beverage, which was refreshing. And to wrap things up for dessert, I got the Lotus cake which was essentially a Biscoff's cookies cake! It was a good-sized slice but I forgot to take a picture before I started eating it, lol. Sofra is the only Turkish restaurant in the Buffalo area. Mohammed, the owner, personally oversees everything and ensures the food and baked goods are of exceptional quality. The food is authentic and superb and the service is very attentive. The restaurant is scrupulously clean, well-lit, and spacious. The staff are very accommodating for persons with disabilities --I move around via a walker and my wife has a service dog. There is ample parking outside. Bustling restaurant on a Saturday evening; we were promptly seated and given menus at one of the many booths. Most of the seating is in booths, but there are a few tables along one side of the wall. My husband ordered the mixed grill and I ordered the lamb chops, but I was told they were out, at least for the dinner portion. They still did have the lollipop lamb chops to use in the mixed grill so I ordered that also. This is a very Spartan setup, and there's not much in the way of ambience. As for drinks, we were to pick out what non-alcoholic drink we wanted. The food was served fairly quickly on plastic plates with the tiniest napkins you could imagine The portion of food on the mixed grill was quite substantial. We had several types of beef, and lollipop land chop, plus chicken breast. Everything had been grilled over charcoal so it had that distinctive flavoring. The meat was sitting on top of rice, along side a small serving of diced onions and tomatoes with some shredded cabbage. I don't think we saw the server again after our meals were served. They were quite busy and they definitely have limited staffing. It would take a while for tables to be bussed after patrons left. The mixed grill was $24.99 which I thought was a bit high but we did get a lot of meat. I would have liked to have had a more more rounded meal with a little less emphasis on meat and a vegetable to fill out the plate. I ordered tea and it came in the tiniest little glass cup; it was like three sips. The saving Grace was the pastry case. Wow! The items did not have names or labels on them. We just ordered what looked good and took home two small boxes of goodies. I have to say everything we had in the pastry case was quite good. It's not inexpensive but it was a birthday celebration so this was a treat I like supporting small businesses, but I think I'll let them work off some of the rough edges before I return read more

Alhamdulillah for the newest addition to Buffalo's great food scene and halal to match! I'm grateful to write the first review on its opening day! What a great way to break fast during Ramadan! I heard many different languages including Turkish, so Sofra already has support from folks! The menu is packed with many classic Turkish dishes that show the regional influences. I started with Ezogelin (lentil soup) that came with thick bread. Delish. I got some hummus to go but then tucked into the Beyti Kabab, which I had honestly never had before (beef kababs wrapped in a pastry shell) with yogurt sauce. My friend is gluten free & though the server did not know much about gf, she asked the chef and was able to offer up suitable options. We got the babaganoush as an app and shared the mixed grill plate. The bread that came with the babaganoush was light, fluffy, flavorful and fresh! A definite highlight of the meal. We were also brought sliced carrot for my friend to dip in it. The babaganoush itself had a nice smokey flavor and was more yogurty than I expected... I thought I'd pick up more on the eggplant. The mixed grill was good as well. The meats were well seasoned and cooked well. For dessert we got the rice pudding, a chocolate covered cake dome that had bananas, strawberries & whipped cream in it and pistachio cheesecake. My friend thought the pudding was ok, but prefers one with cinnamon in it. We both thought the pistachio cheesecake was not very pistachio tasting despite having crushed nuts on top. I've been begging for years and dreams do come true, with time- ha! Sofra offers a similar menu to the other two locations in Rochester plus a large bakery section, like the Henrietta location. The quality of the food is just as good. This location is much bigger than the other two and offers ample seating, which is especially good for Ramadan. They play traditional Turkish music in the background which is lovely. Absolutely phenomenal. Give Sofra a try! My personal favorite is the beyti kebab. We were staying at a hotel near the airport so, you use Yelp when you looking for more than a burger. I don't know anything about Turkish food but I'm convert after eating here. There is something about the sauces that was a delight and a unique taste. The portions were substantial, I wish I had room for the wonderful looking pastries. The restaurant looks like a converted store so it's not the most intimate restaurant and it's in a half empty strip mall but don't let that put you off. A plus is the friendly family staff plus they are open on Sunday, which many restaurants were not open. Give the place a try I believe it's well worth the visit. read more

Amazing and authentic Turkish food. Everything is super flavorful and freshly made, and they offer lots of dishes that are difficult to find (manti, kunafeh). The beef lahmacun is ethereal. It is a flavorful dough, a bit flaky, a bit elastic, with minced beef and fresh vegetables. The manti are addictive, with a delicate dough and a tangy yogurt sauce. The mix grill is well served with a variety of meats and vegetables. For dessert, the warm kunafeh with a small cup of their strong coffee (which is smooth and not bitter at all) is perfection. Their pastry selection is excellent, lots of unique cakes and sweets and some familiar ones too. I can't wait to go back and try more things. Also, very friendly service. read more

What a great restaurant near Buffalo Airport. The food was fantastic. We ordered three dishes and shared. I ordered the mixed grill kabob. My son ordered the Mushroom Pide which is like a mushroom pizza. Don't recall what my wife ordered but it was all delicious. They have a large number of deserts to order since they are also a bakery. You may want to take a look at the case while your food is being prepared. The interior is very large and would make a good party venu with room for dancing, if they rent it out.
