Although we we the first people there at 1pm for dine-in, there was a steady stream of take-out orders getting picked up, as well as other (mostly men) coming to dine. The chairs are wide and overstuffed, and the tables are just the right height. It's a, "have another bite" atmosphere. There are long prayers coming from the speakers. Even a non-Arabic speaker like me knows that, "Bismillah" doesn't rhyme! The better half's take on his kebab? "This is the best lamb I've ever had!". I thought the shwarma and fries were great, but the hummus served with warm pita, some fruity, green olive oil, and a sprinkling of sumac/ za'atar really knocked it out of the park. I was dipping my fries in it! We ended the meal with a long slice of pistachio backlava. Oh, so good!

There were plenty of tempting options on the regular menu, but my colleague and I both went straight for the Great Pumpkin Burger, and WOW! The sweet potato bun, toppings, and all the fall flavors came together perfectly. Definitely one of those burgers where you're thinking about it again later. We started with the lentil soup, boiling hot and full of lemon juice and black pepper. Mango lassis for both of us, and when we asked for tap water, we were given an entire pitcher of ice water for the table, with two cups. My husband ordered lamb handi, cubes of tender meat in a thick gravy with tomatoes, onions and green peppers. He had ordered it "Medium spicy", but I think the kitchen was grading on a curve: It was less punchy than the soup. Still, I wouldn't order "Hot" as I once did here: The chef takes pride in his liberal use of peppers at this level. (The menu warns you: "This is a dish for stronger constitutions"). My lamb shashlik was char grilled on a skewer (thoughtfully removed prior to serving) with slices of tomato, onions and green peppers, plated on a sizzling iron plate. The chunks of lamb had been marinated: They were so tender! The garlic naan? Fresh from a tandoor oven, with a little char, lots of butter and garlic, and a little parsley. It was so fresh and good! After the meal our waiter asked us if we would like tea, but I couldn't have eaten anything more (though I strongly recommend their creamy rice pudding!)

Everything was incredible. The chicken was juicy, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The rice paired so well with it--every bite hit. The menu is bilingual, but I was unfamiliar with many of the dishes. As Mark Twain put it, "I was informed but not educated." I opted for an easy one: lamb chops over rice.
