I hadn't been to Breadhive Bakery & Cafe in years and finally decided to stop in for a quick breakfast. I ordered the Britney: smoked salmon, onion, cucumber, and lemon scallion dill cream cheese on a rosemary salt bagel. The second I opened the wrapper I was hit with the smell of fresh rosemary, which immediately sold me. Flavor-wise, this sandwich was lovely. The smoked salmon tasted fresh and paired perfectly with the lemon scallion dill cream cheese. The cucumbers added the right amount of freshness and crunch, and the bagel itself had beautiful flavor. My only issue was the texture of the bagel. It was very hard, and toasting it unfortunately made it even tougher. Every bite turned into a bit of a balancing act because the sandwich kept falling apart. Still, the flavors were strong enough to make up for it. Overall, I really enjoyed it and I'm excited to go back again. Definitely won't wait years next time. 7.9/10 read more

I don't know what's changed or if my timing has been better but regardless we're back to what I expect from this local gem. Food is great, prices are great, and people are friendly and helpful again. A great neighborhood bakery making excellent bagels. They have other baked goods and an extensive sandwich menu, but we focused on one of our favorite to-go breakfasts. Had the rosemary salt bagel with scallion, dill, and lemon cream cheese. And another with everything and roasted veggie cream cheese. I was not impressed to be honest . The staff seemed a bit sippy. There was no where to sit or park. My bagel was ok. I liked the rosemary flavor. But I wish there were more options for cream cheese and bagels. The bagel flavors and cream cheese options were not easily visible on the board. Looking for a new place to try for our Sunday breakfast outing. Looked on Yelp and found this spot was highly rated. Very cute old building with whimsical paintings and decor. They also have outdoor seating with picnic tables. You place your order at the counter and they call your name when it is ready. My wife ordered an Eggs on an everything bagel. I ordered a Aaliyah on a Rosemary Salt Bagel. Both were the BOMB! They do a tremendous takeout business. Their Bagels,cookies and bread are some of the best around. We came here for lunch about 30 min before closing, so unfortunately the bagels and house made pork sausage were sold out, what I really wanted from the small menu. We settled for 'The Gwen' which was a turkey sandwich and happened to be excellent. They definitely don't skimp on the deli meat. I have no complaints other than my timing. Such a unique spot an absolute must when you're in Buffalo! This was my first visit and I absolutely loved it. The menu is so creative with plenty of fun, unique options! Wow - Breadhive was GREAT - wish i lived nearby! I came with a big group Saturday in the early afternoon and it was pretty crowded - we tried to order online but they had turned off online orders. The line wasn't too long (waited ~ 5 min to place orders) but it took probably 20 minutes for the food to come out and we kind of felt in the way standing in the middle of the restaurant. They were out of all bagels so the sandwich options were on a pretzel or on sourdough.Those were the only (slightly) negative things! Between our group, people tried all different kinds of sandwiches (including the Bjork, Shania, breakfast sandwich, and a BYO), as well as the coffee cake cookie (well-made, a little too sweet for me) and the pumpkin chocolate chip muffin (really moist with high quality chocolate chips, definitely couldn't tell it was vegan). I got a cold brew which was great - normally I don't get cold brew because it's more acidic but this one was lighter. They also had 2-3 homemade syrups (vanilla, pumpkin) for the coffee drinks that were out, so it was fun to try those. The sandwiches were great and so generously sized for the price, which is awesome to see these days. Both the pretzel and the sourdough made great vehicles for the fillings. The egg on the breakfast sandwich was fluffy and the tempeh bacon was well flavored. The bjork itself was unique and the kimchi added some fun heat. The Shania wasn't as much of a standout but was still pretty good. We would definitely come back. read more

Went to this place recently to grab breakfast, ordered their limited time special "The Nina", which was made with House-made shakshuka sauce, garlic feta mayo, scrambled egg, pickled red onions and arugula, and served with their signature sourdough toast. We've been to Breadhive a couple times now and has consistently been a good experience. My fiancé got the Aaliyah breakfast sandwich with pork sausage, which he enjoyed. I got the make your own breakfast sandwich which tasted great and is nice to have as an option if you're a more picky eater. We ordered online and it was ready much quicker than we expected (about 10 minutes on a Sunday morning). Both of the workers I interacted with were very welcoming and it was clearly well organized in there. I was quickly in and out. It is a pretty small space so we weren't able to sit down and eat which wasn't a problem for us, but that is something to consider if you're going on a Sunday morning. I love a good cafe, and this place was beyond good! It's a small cafe, limited seating and gets very busy. They are open 8am to 2 and all their menu items are available. Little tip, they get their bread delivered at 10 a.m. The staff was so nice and they run like a well oiled machine. Because if space we ended up ordering to go. Our wait time was under ten minutes! You can also order ahead of time on line. They have some great sounding mayonnaise options. I went for the feta mayo and it was amazing on my turkey sandwhich. (The Gwen) I got my sandwich on sourdough bread which was delicious. All the veggies on it were very fresh. We tried a breakfast sandwich as well. We got it on their sriracha bagel. We got the Nina, I am not a big egg person, but I loved this sandwich. But warning it's not for the spicy challenge folks. I didn't think I was BUT this bagel was hot hot hot, again delicious BUT I couldn't eat that bagel again. They gave several dessert options so we tried a bunch of those. No complaints, and I highly recommend the apple cider and donut bread and peach sticky bun. I washed it all down with a iced Chai. Breadhive is so cute! We had just one morning to explore and eat so Breadhive was at the top of my list. I shared the Britney (lox bagel) on a sriracha bagel with my sister. The fillings were delicious, but the crust of the bagel was a little too hard for my preference - it was hard to bite into the bagel without having all the fillings squish out. The flavors were perfect though, and it was the best day to enjoy it outside. We also got the raspberry custard bun and that was ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. The ginger molasses cookie was soft and had dark flavors, which was a good balance to the other sweet treats I'd been having. I am absolutely obsessed with this place. I wish it was closer to home. I am a one trick pony. I get the same thing every single time. I go with the Aaliyah on a rosemary and salt bagel. I'm sure other options are great but I know what I like. I had a friend introduce me to the bagels a few years back and it's been nothing but love ever since. I really enjoy this spot. It's a bit on the smaller side and I've never been in when it's not busy. I always take my food to go and eat in my car. I've had some of the pastries and they were OK. Even though I arrived a few minutes past their cutoff time for ordering (they were closing in less than 15"), my order was enthusiastically taken. Ordered the Aailayah which comes with eggs, house made Portuguese sausage, and cheese. They ran out of bagels so had to get it on a sourdough bread. Really enjoyed it! Also super filling! I am such a fan of Breadhive Bakery & Cafe and have been since their early days at the local Farmer's Markets. I was delighted to return to their brick & mortar store/restaurant on Connecticut Street when I was in town around the holidays. Unfortunately it seemed like the Dolly vegan sandwich had been erased from the menu but the Shania more than made up for it. The house-made seitan was also outstanding. I also really appreciated that they stock local kombucha from Barrel & Brine.
