Omg, what an amazing and vegan-friendly breakfast experience. Even better than we were expecting after finding a great loaf of their bread in a local grocery store. Unfortunately it seemed like the Dolly vegan sandwich had been erased from the menu but the Shania more than made up for it. The house-made seitan was also outstanding. I also really appreciated that they stock local kombucha from Barrel & Brine. They were a little busy around 10:30am on a Saturday, but we were able to get a seat (and they have outdoor seating as well). let's start off with the cookies are AMAZINGGGGG. the sandwiches though...a bit disappointing. the bread itself was average (not much flavor or textural satisfaction) and the sandwich fillings were just okay as well. The ingredients didn't really compliment or work with each other. The sandwich fell apart as you tried to bite it. I'd say it's a regular sandwich but nothing special and erring on the healthy tasting side, which was quite unexpected. quite an aesthetic display wall, though! a decent amount of seating inside but the tables are pretty small. My Mom heard good things and asked me to go pick a sampling of things so we can decide if it's a good bakery. It was clean, cute, welcoming inside. I got scones, cookies, pecan roll, cinnamon rolls, a loaf of day old bread that they slice for you and a nice no frills cup of strong coffee. Customer service was amazing. He was patient and kind. FIRST OFF THEIR BREAKFAST BAGEL SANDWICH IS AMAZINGGGGGGGGG. I added jelly on my sausage and egg bagel. They have so many options to try from and also vegan/gluten free options. The wait time is the only issue but you are getting fresh bread and locally grown food so it is a A+++++. I love that this is another west side staple now. I haven't been to Breadhive in a long time, but was blown away by my recent visit. There was a long line, but my order was taken quickly. They even let me know that my food would be taking longer to make than usual and if that was ok with me or not. I ordered the Aaliyah (sausage, egg, cheese and maple syrup) on a salted rosemary bagel. It was phenomenal. The sausage was even homemade. They had lots of different drink options as well. Finally got to go to this (locally) famous bakery that a lot of restaurants use their products from . No indoor seating now, but they have a decent sized tent area with patio seating. I do wish they had more of a coffee selection, just a hot brew and cold brew with condiments on the side . It was a decent cup of cold brew, however . Now onto the baked goods . My aunt and I both got breakfast sandwiches on bagels. Those bagels, which have won awards, were everything a bagel should be ! (Which is satisfying and flavorful! ) Those breakfast sandwiches were huge, I could only eat half of one (next time no sausage for me , way too heavy) . To take home I got a fresh pretzel (yum) and some jalapeño cheddar cream cheese . My aunt bought a fresh loaf of bread (maybe sourdough not sure...) It was a hopping place, but they give you a pager so they can reach you when your order is ready . I have to note that the name of this bakery (Breadhive) was particularly relevant that day, because there was a ton of bees on the patio , one girl even got stung ! I AM OBSESSED WITH BREADHIVE! I am from Seattle area but I visit my long distance partner in Buffalo often. Maybe I'm coming because I like him... maybe it's because I love Breadhive sandwiches! I visited every day the last 3 days, which seems excessive but I swear it wasn't. I'm usually not one to eat out, but Breadhive has changed me. I want to try everything. And everything I've tried has been SO delightfully delicious. Best sandwich I've ever had: The Olivia. Sweet, spicy, tangy, cheesy with roasted sweet potatoes, jalapeño, and pickled onions. Absolutely unreal. It was a seasonal item and if it doesn't come back, I'll be devastated because I miss it. Second best sandwich I've ever had: The Reba. Packed full of mushrooms, cheese, and a garlicky aioli. YUM! The signed Reba poster on the wall helps too. Their soups are always delicious. The bagels are chewy and full of flavor. The make-your-own options are great (you've got to try the tomato jam!!!). The red pepper chèvre cream cheese to-go and a loaf of sourdough makes for a great week of breakfasts. Anything with farm fresh eggs is *chef's kiss.* My only downsides: 1) the people want the Olivia back! 2) the wholegrain pretzels are not salty enough and not the best pretzel I've had. My bagel with house-made sausage, cheese and eggs was easily the best thing we ate in an entire weekend in Buffalo. The sausage was astonishingly flavorful. The bagel was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Service was friendly and I appreciated the pager so I could hang outside while waiting for our food. The cookies were great also. This is not fast food. Even though I got in early enough that there were just a few people around it took about 15 minutes for us to get our food, just as the order taking person said it would. They have a great variety of breakfast sandwiches here and the baked bread selection is amazing. We always get a dozen pretzel and rosemary bagels to go and freeze them for later. They also have a nice selection of cream cheeses and other goodies like fresh eggs and pickled red onion in their cooler. This place was fast placed hustle and bustle. A constant stream of customers in and out. All of the tables were full, but the turn over is quick. Eclectic inside, and so much to look at from the blue ceiling to the decorated walls. Westside charm at its fullest! The food was soooo so fresh! My husband and I each got a 'Gwen'. It was a big sandwich and we could have split it. The turkey was 'clean' and quality. A mix of greens, fresh cucumbers, tomatoes and onions. All seemed like they were just cut. Our sandwiches each came with an unexpected scoop of pasta salad. It was HELLA GOOD! We split an oatmeal cookie. And brought home 1/2 dozen bagels and two containers of house flavored cream cheese. I can't rate the product because it was just not possible to get anything on a Saturday morning around 10:30. It was busy and chaotic but I was waiting about five minutes in a line that was not moving. But I just wanted something quick to hold me over before a trip to Wegmans. Well fughettaboudit. First of all the place is tiny but it was full of people standing around waiting for orders with very few people seated because it really is a small space. The selection in the display case was kind of lean and what was there was nothing I was interested in but I really needed to get closer. However, a staff member yelled out that anyone who ordered food would have a 30 minute wait because the kitchen was busy. The line just didn't move and the staff were just chatting to each other. I saw 2 at the counter and someone came from the back to load loaves of bread. However no one was communicating with the people in line to see if anyone wanted just a baked good like cookies, muffin or pastry. I guess they were short staffed or clueless about helping people in line. A friend waited outside while I was inside. He said a small group of European guys walked out discussing options. I guess they asked him. He said they were looking disgusted as I was too. I finally left because I thought it was run poorly and a bit over priced with zero attention to customers. Two people were just talking to each other behind the counter. A guy wearing a protect Trans kids and a girl with a scarf on her head. Loved the tee shirt but not the service. So after that experience and seeing the menu, prices and lack of attention or service I won't be back. My friend warned me that he too said it was an overpriced Hipster spot with nothing special. He didn't care for what he bought. I had to see it especially when I was really hungry for a morning baked good of some sort. read more

Everything at Breadhive is amazing. The vegan pie crust is awesome and I've loved all the pie lately. The blueberry lavender was awesome as was the apple blackberry handpie. Every day there's at least one vegan scone, cookie, and bun. The vegan sandwiches are awesome. All the bread is vegan and delicious. I'm especially fond of the rye bread. There are baker's special breads every Monday in a rotating schedule. This worker owned shop deserves all our love. Check them out at the holidays, too, for special orders. read more

I can't believe I haven't rated Breadhive yet. This place is a MUST VISIT. In fact, it's a must visit over and over again as I'm usually here once a week. My favorites are the Britany (pictured), the Robyn, and the Mariah. Their coffee is solid and baked goods incredible. My favorite baked good, which is probably what sells most, is their coffee cinnamon roll. They don't have them everyday, usually weekends for sure, and if you come too late in the day, they might be out of them. I also like their selection of kombucha and overnight oats (latte one is the best). This place is unique as it is a worker cooperative which means the workers own the business. They bake all their own bread, too. My only Griener is that they don't have a multi-grain option. read more

I've had a few people rave about the breakfast sandwiches here, so I finally got to give them a shot after a night out in Buffalo. I now understand the hype! I came here with two others on a Sunday morning around 10am. The shop on the inside is small but had a few booths and tables. They have a good outdoor seating section though, which was perfect on this warm, sunny morning. When we showed up, there were a few people sitting outside and a couple inside and we virtually didn't have to wait in line at all. The menu, in my opinion, is perfectly sized with a variety of breakfast sandwich and lunch sandwich options, a wide variety of bagels, pretzel rolls, and other types of breads, as well as pastries and desserts. They also appeared to have a good amount of vegan items on the menu too. The staff behind the counter were very conscientious and easy to talk to. So I was told to try "The Aaliyah" breakfast sandwich (scrambled eggs, house breakfast sausage, cheddar cheese, butter, and maple syrup) on a bagel for my first time here. So I ordered that on a Rosemary Salt bagel and a cup of coffee. The price for the sandwich and coffee came in just under $10, which I thought was pretty fair. Afterwards, I sat outside and sipped on my cup of joe with my party and it seemed like maybe ten minutes passed and each of our sandwiches were ready. So first thing I noticed was how big this thing was! The amount of egg and cheese was perfect! What really sets this sandwich off though is the breakfast sausage: it was cooked perfectly and had a little spice to it (maybe sage?) and was tender and just so fresh. The maple syrup helped to balance the flavor out between the egg and breakfast sausage and it was not dumped on the sandwich, it was just the right amount where you could tell it was there. I'm not a huge bagel guy, but man, that Rosemary Salt bagel was phenomenal and had a nice chew to it. I'm glad they wrap the sandwich when they serve it though because it feels like the fillings want to slide right off. The sandwich itself though was perfectly sized though as that with a cup of coffee set my day off right and left me very satisfied! I'm very impressed by this little place! I would love to come back and try one of their lunch sandwiches but would be just as happy to order another "Aaliyah". :) read more

Sign me the f up. :) Take out only currently (June 2021) and they have an online ordering system. You can do a contactless pickup when you enter and add your own cream to your coffee. They had soy milk provided as well as diary milk. I love that you can build your own sandwich with many different bread options. Great concept and delicious food. Breadhive is an employee/coop owned business that brings the upmost quality products and service to the customers. We went for a Sunday lunch and it was fantastic! The Aaliyah (sp?) egg and sausage breakfast sandwich on a fresh bagel was so delicious with a side of local kombucha it the spot. Sausage was huge and so tasty!!! We also split a cinnamon roll which was one of the best ones I have ever eaten!!! Maple glaze and so perfectly sweet and moist! The atmosphere is very eclectic with a really cute patio too! I visit breadhive at the local farmers market on Saturday's to get their goods as well as the local co-op grocery store (Lexington). What do you say about a bakery whose food fixes all of your problems and mends the broken parts of your soul? Seriously, Breadhive never fails to make me happy and to put a smile on my face. My roommate and I ventured down to Connecticut Avenue for a little breakfast date yesterday and it was perfect. As of right now, Breadhive asks that you order online as it's the fastest way to place an order (you can, however, use their walk-up window on the side of the bakery to place an order in person). When you place your order online, you walk up to the cafe and go in through the front door, where you're met with a shelving unit that has your order on it (in a brown paper bag adding even more charm to the whole experience) and then you can grab some napkins from an adjacent table before making your way to their patio. We sat at one of their tables for two just outside of the tent covering and there, we proceeded to shove our faces full of some of the best damn breakfast sandwiches out there. I've had the Aaliyah before, but this was my first time having it on a rosemary bagel and...just....wow. Whole new experience of food happiness. Their bagels are really freaking good. Like, you might shed a tear or two, because of how good they are. The Aaliyah comes with eggs (how many eggs do they put on there? The world may never know), HOUSEMADE sausage, maple syrup, butter, & cheddar. You can put additional toppings on for an extra cost; I added greens & my roommate added tomato to her sandwich. She said that the tomatoes were a great addition to her sandwich and I thought that the greens were good. Besides their incredible bagels and sandwiches, Breadhive has crazy good baked goods. Though I was unable to get one of their ham & gruyere scones this time 'round, I strongly recommend that you get one. And don't sleep on their molasses ginger cookie, either. I don't think I've had a more perfect molasses cookie in my life. They warm up their baked goods before giving them to you and it honestly makes it feel like you're at home in your mother's or grandmother's kitchen. Jeezum Crow! Oh my goodness, I will be dreaming of this bagel for years to come. I had a quick stop in Buffalo and was craving a good bagel. I came across Breadhive and was intrigued by the raving reviews. I came on a Wednesday morning around 9am and ordered an everything bagel with bacon, butter and smashed avocado. It was absolutely incredible, the best bagel I've ever had. We stopped by breadhive a few weeks ago on a weekend trip to Buffalo. This place was so good! A very cute and small shop. My husband and I shared a pecan sticky bun, which was phenomenal. We each got the Aaliyah on different bagels and had no regrets. The syrup was a nice touch. Our friends did make your own sandwiches and all enjoyed them. In Buffalo visiting for the weekend and saw the awesome reviews, plus only a short walk away from where we were staying equals a must stop for breakfast. I had chicken salad on a pretzel and it was yummy!!! The chicken salad was delicious (and I'm super picky about my chicken salads) very little mayo but enough and with the fresh dill, apples, grapes and celery and nuts it was divine! Then put it on their pretzel bun and I wish they were open on Mondays so I could grab some pretzels to take back with me. My husband had the Allyah on a pretzel bun and also enjoyed it! Love this women-owned gem! I had wanted to try this for a long time and glad I finally made it there. It's super cute inside and I felt very cozy and welcomed. The bagel was a perfect mix of soft and crispy and the lox not too salty. It was super busy at brunch time so plan accordingly - the dining area isn't vast :) My only 'complaint' would be a lack of gluten free items - maybe in the future? My husband has a broken foot, and when we got to the register, the woman just chatted us up like we were old friends. She wanted to hear his story and then she shared her own experience as well because she injured herself in a similar way. In my opinion, when you can find an employee who knows how to make personal connections with the customers, that's how you gain repeat customers. I will certainly be back. Customer service = A+.
