Another family run business that is a hidden gem really at Sheridan and Evans in Williamsville. There's even a little wfh type area to savor a baked good and a coffee while on your laptop. Service was friendly and efficient. Yum to the almond ring!!! Oh and the cookies, melt in your mouth. Ahhh

Stopped by to check out Wolter's, since we've never noticed it before, tucked into this plaza.

It is rare that I'm out on a Wednesday mid-morning with my husband. But this Wednesday found us out caravanning for car repairs, which is a total downer. So we stopped for Tim Horton's to at least make a little lemonade out of lemons, and enjoy a hot beverage together. Which brings me to Wolter's. We stopped at the Tim's in the same plaza parking lot as Wolter's, and had our Tim's in a spot facing Wolter's. Had that not happened, I'd still not know that Wolter's exists. Because tucked away in this eclectic plaza is their bakery, and it is easy to miss. So to continue our caloric-self-soothing, we walked over to Wolter's. It is a small bakery, but not tiny, big enough for us to be in the counter area with two other patrons, and still be spaced out. Next to the counter is an adorable seating room that looked like a grandma's living room, which also, not surprisingly, seemed to be occupied by adorable grandmas. When we're back into eating in, I definitely want to join them one morning. I have greys and readers, I'll blend. :-D The counterspace has a sizable display case with LOTS of baked goodies: breads, rolls, pastries, donuts, danish, fritters, cupcakes, pies, cakes, cookies, specialty baked goods--no carb-or-sugar-shortage here! I asked the counterperson her favorite, and she of course said it is all good, but the almond rings are their specialty. We didn't want a whole almond ring, but we were in luck to still be able to sample their signature flavor. On Wednesdays, they have sticky buns, one of which is an almond ring variety, with the same filling and icing. We purchased one of those, a cinnamon roll sticky bun, an almond horn, and an angel cream donut. The bill was $5.46--WOW, great deal for four homemade baked goods, so we're off to a great start! Back out to our car we went, to continue sipping our Tim's and try our Wolter's selections. The hubbs ate his cinnamon bun first, and said it was good. When it was my turn to commandeer the bag, I went for the almond ring sticky bun, and ... WOWWW-WOWWW-WEEE-WAHHHH!! What a DELICIOUS treat! Now, I ADORE anything flavored with almond extract, LOVE that cherry'ish taste, and this bun had LOTS of it, all in the best possible way. The icing and the pastry cream filling were just the right amount of almond-extract-flavor-heaven. The sweet almond slivers on top added a little crunch dimension. Pure YUM. Next the hubbs and I shared the almond horn, and again WOWWZA--again, that fantastic almond extract flavor I adore. But beyond that, the texture was just perfect! It was a soft, chewy cookie with a solid coating of sliced almonds that was a delightful crunch into the sweet innards. SO GOOD. We were so full by then, after Tim's bagels and these sweets, that we brought the donut home to our son. He ate it in like 30 seconds. So it must have been pretty decent, too. :-D SO HAPPY to have discovered Wolter's today! My mom's birthday is on Groundhog's Day, so this timing was great! I'd like to bring my mom in on her birthday to select some goodies, as she too is a sweet-tooth, and will have no problem picking an assortment of treats from Wolter's. If you haven't tried Wolter's yet, and want to snag a spread of homemade sweet treats, I five-star-HIGHLY recommend you stop by! I may be with the grandmas in the sitting room. :-D

One of my new favorite go to bakeries in Williamsville....they offer a large variety of bake goods, rolls, bread...Large store front ...friendly employees and fast service. Stopped in last week for Fat Tuesday...packi...order classic jelly and cream split with my mom...and will be sure next year to get them again.

Delicious pastry and baked goods!

I cannot help but say how delicious bakery food is. If you want to treat yourself, this is the place to go. Their selection is enormous. Fresh cookies, napoleons, cakes, butter rings, strudel, Danish, oh my! Wolters has been serving WNY for more than 50 years. I'm currently enjoying one of their sugary fastnachts. Best with coffee! They're easy to find in the Georgetown Square plaza (Williamsville) but if you can't get there now, check out all the delish on their website at woltersbakery.com.

Omg they're transporting frozen kidneys CALL THE COPS. oh wait it's a pastry. Nm

All in all you're just another brick in the Wolters. You can't pull the Wol over my eyes. What Wold you do if I sang out of tune? Wold you stand up and Wolk out on me? It wouldn't be the first time that happened. But enough. Let's talk about this bakery. You can't just Woltz right into Wolters and expect to get served when there's someone in line in front of you buying up every bakery item imaginable and taking her jolly old Williamsville time about it. But I'll tell you what. It'll be worth the wait. Came with zero expectations... I love baked goods but I'm a little picky, and have been disappointed by quite a few "top rated" bakeries in WNY in my day, and in my night too, once or twice. But I was shocked by how good the products from here are. This is a vastly underrated little bakery hidden away in Williamsville close to Wegmans, Wok N Roll and Spices Of India, and it is very much worth your time to swing by here and try any one of a number of specialty items (ask them which are their top sellers, which is what I did). You might fall in love with these exquisite 5-star baked goods as I did. Or you might not, in which case you'll want to grab me and give me a piece of your mind. Which piece is totally up to you. But you'll have to find me first.

My mom was craving danish the other day and after reminiscing over pineapple and cheese danishes I used to get at another bakery, I found this bakery online and checked them out when I was in the area today. Luckily I walked in with a mission, otherwise I could have easily walked out with a whole case of goodies. The numerous cases were stocked quite full of a varied selection of delicious treats to satisfy your sweet tooth. I ended up choosing the pineapple and cheese danish that brought me in, as well as a strawberry rhubarb pie that is a favorite among others in my household. The woman behind the counter was incredibly friendly and helpful and packaged my baked goods very nicely. Which I appreciate since I had quite a long hot drive home! We tasted the goodies this evening and the danish was as delicious as I had hoped. Filled to the gills with cheese and pineapple filling. The strawberry rhubarb pie was awesome. It was my first time having this kind of pie and I have to say that it's now one of my favorites as well. The crust was amazing - which is something I must note because I usually donate my crust to the dogs as I hate crust. This crust however, was not dried out or burnt, and had great flavor. Next time I'm out this way I think I'll have to pick up some goodies again!

Small bakery in a plaza. It's easy to overlook. This place sells primarily cookies. The butter cookies and the raspberry cookies were very good. There is a small seating area that needs some updating. I really wish this place had more options like cupcakes, slices of pie, fancier desserts.

Just as I was about to go in the place must have caught fire. Yikes! A man was leaving the bakery with as many loaves of bread as he could carry. I investigated. Sure enough, the store was filled with firemen. I couldn't get in. It turns out the firemen were buying a lot of baked goods. Whew! And the guy carrying all the loaves of bread was a caterer. He bought 50 loaves of Luigi's delicious bread. He explained he was catering a 50th wedding anniversary, and the celebrants wanted a loaf of Luigi's bread for each of their 50 years. I'm not kidding! I bought only 4 loves of bread. They were out of my favorite - sesame seeded Italian so I had to go with plain. They have a trick with their bread. They don't use preservatives, so you have to eat it within 2 days and then go back for more. It's a trap! They were out of almond and poppy seed strudel thingys, so I settled for apple, blueberry and cherry. I tried the lemon cake and it's great. But my favorite thing was the almond cake. Absolutely dreamy. It didn't make it home because I stopped at a friend's house on the way home to share some. All I got was just one slice. And I ate that before I had a chance to take its picture.

I did try to ask a few questions about wedding tastings while I was there, but the worker helping me didn't seem very enthusiastic or willing to offer much guidance. Since this is such an important part of planning my wedding, that part of the experience felt a bit disappointing. Overall, while I was really rooting for this to be "the place" especially since it's a big and popular bakery I don't feel confident moving forward with them for my wedding desserts. There's breads, coffees, specialty drinks, cakes, cookies, pastries, and to go cakes. The service ranges from stellar to ok. On average, pretty good. Cuccidati Inc. had a booth at the event ... and they had me at the word "cuccidati". :-D LOVE these cookies! If you are unfamiliar, cuccidati are iced-and-sprinkled fig-filled Italian cookies. They're like a soft, delectable, gourmet, top-shelf, high-class, prettier Fig Newton, but way better, haha. Whenever I see an Italian cookie spread at a gathering, I always b-line for dibbs on the cuccidati. And Cuccidati Inc.'s cuccidati did not disappoint! These were a bit different from cuccidati I've had before. They weren't quite as sweet, not as thick-white of an icing as usual. And the filling seemed more natural, like more purely fig, as opposed to the more artificial extract flavor of some cuccidati. I do like the creamier cuccidati filling I'm used to, with more of a jam consistency. But these were good too, you could feel chewy bits of real fig fruit in each bite. If you prefer a cookie that isn't too rattle-your-teeth-sweet, you will probably enjoy Cuccidati Inc.'s cookies very much. We spoke with the owners when we were at the fresh-air market, and they were very sweet and friendly. They of course bake their namesake, but also bake many other cookies too. They don't have their own storefront, they sell by order, or at local venues and events. They are on the shelves at Buffalo Artisan Food Traders (https://www.yelp.com/biz/buffalo-artisan-food-traders-buffalo), so if you have a hankering for some delicious cuccidati, stop by there to grab a pack. Or check Cuccidati Inc.'s Facebook page for other upcoming local appearances - https://www.facebook.com/cuccidati.org - and mangia! :-D
