I realized that while I'm in Allentown often, it seems not after 12 noon on Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I say this as I came across the Sweet Temptations booth this past weekend. I asked when she was opening the store that I have been eyeing for ages. Well over once a week, as I pass by there many times a week. She said they are open. And have been for a while. I picked up some popcorn, which was very good and I'd happily eat it again. I sampled some of her cookies and other things she had on the table. They all tasted great. I can't wait to try more, but I'll have to stop by Thur-Sun after 12 noon. But they are open into the evenings many days, great for the Allentown restaurant and bar crowd. Pick up a frozen treat this summer or a cookie instead of a grilled cheese from just down the road. Nice to have choices like that on Allen. If you have a specific thing you want to pick up I'd call in advance to make sure she has it that day or can make it for you. But if you are like me and are content to browse and see what strikes your fancy from the case, you can pop in anytime she's open. Street parking. read more

Happened to walk down to Allentown on a Saturday afternoon. Her sign out front caught my eye- polish cheesecake? Had to stop. It's a cute little bakery. She makes everything fresh so there isn't a lot hanging around to go bad. We tried the apple strudel and polish cheesecake. Both were to die for! Fresh made phyllo dough?! Worth it! Took home some yummy treats to fill up on with coffee in the morning. She takes credit cards and it kind of looks like she teaches a baking class. Saw some little waffle things and other pastries. Stop by if you're in Allentown. Take the stairs up. Kinda like a stairway to heaven if you like baked goods!! read more

Great husband and wife team! While on a stroll in the Elmwood Village, we had just mentioned that ice cream would be the perfect treat on a summer Saturday afternoon - and low and behold, this cute spot in the cut on Allen was right on time! They let us bring our dog inside, and even gave him a cool drink and a little treat! We wound up getting the last piece of pound cake with our cones, and it was so good! They mentioned they make cakes and pies for pre orders, and check this out ..they have cool cooking classes that groups can book! It's only in the spring and fall, it I'll definitely come and check it out with friends. The ice cream was classic, and so was the experience. Two thumbs up! #supportlocal read more

I stopped into this bakery during a walkabout of Allen after a particularly large Cantina Loco lunc and was so happy that I happened upon it! I've been wanting to stop in but was never wholly sure of the location. Upon stopping in the owner greeted us and was happy to provide samples and insight into her sweet treats. We ended up having the strudel, cinnamon rolls,and waffles to go which I tore into as soon as I got home. The speciality apple strudel was very good and something I haven't run into much in the city - apparently this is a family recipe from Eastern Europe. The cinnamon rolls were VERY good, I mean very good, and I am a connoisseur. The waffles are still hanging out at home and are lovely with some tea. I hope that this location stays and becomes successful with more foot traffic in the Allentown area - maybe some social media advertisement will help especially with local cupcake places shuttering by the day. A friend of mine had a hankering for a sweet after lunch. He mentioned how he stopped into this place once before and tried one of their Blueberry Hand Pies...he wouldn't stop talking about it. When I walked in, I was expecting to see a bit more in the cases. But then again, I'm use to going to somewhere like Wegmans for desserts, a place where they are almost always "overflowing" with items, so it was kind of nice to walk into a place that fit the more "old school bakery" sort of vibe. I tried a miniature pecan treat while my friend got the last Blueberry Hand Pie. (I hear they have Cherry, too!) I couldn't help but ask to try it once we got home because it was just so beautifully crafted...it was divine. I'm thinking of stopping in sometime this week to try the cherry! read more

Stopped in the other day. I ordered a cinnamon roll to go, and picked up a package of the chocolate and almond waffles. The owner's husband offered me a piece of the strudel and cheesecake to try. They were both delectable. I hate cheesecake, but this cheesecake tasted really good. Can't wait to stop in and order a piece of the strudel. The cinnamon bun was delicious warmed. The chocolate and almond waffles were heavenly. Def. couldn't stop eating and ate the whole waffle. Try the waffles! When my fiancée (now wife) and I stopped by here for a treat the store seemed a bit...sparse. I suppose it can seem that way when you're used to going into supermarkets and big chain stores/restaurants. The guy behind the counter and the lady sitting down at the table were nice to us and chatted with us for a bit about things going on in Buffalo (since we were just visiting). There isn't a lot of room to stay and enjoy a treat, but I guess that's why they have a lot of bagged items--so you can buy them to go. We decided to stay since we were doing ice cream and a brownie. The dessert was good and we were given a pitcher of water and two cups to go along with it, which I was very grateful for because I was parched! It was a nice enough experience, but I'm not sure there was anything in particular I loved about it. read more

I went here because I was picking up lunch and came upon it, so cute and small that we almost missed it. I place is small and don't have a plethora of products but has some very good stuff. I always come back for the sweet nuthings which I will put up a picture of. It's light and crisp with chocolate and nuts! I get the dark chocolate almond but there are sugar and milk chocolate peanut. There are a selection of bars and cakes but I never got a chance to fully look! we walked in and the owners were listening to polish music and happily baking, it made me feel happy instantly its a small place with one table and 3 chairs at the window overlooking Allen street, most of the space is taken with an internal and external kitchen, which is used also for baking classes they have a sign up book and upon writing your email they send you the schedule of baking classes and how to sign up for them, she explained to us that the classes include baking a certain type of polish dessert close to cinnamon roll but with filo dough instead and you take what you bake with you, followed by making a pizza and salad and eating them together at the shop accompanied by their home made wine, all for 40$ per person they were so sweet they let us try couple of their desserts and we ended buying them cause they were delicious! we had the polish cheesecake which is two layers of baked crusts with the cheese filling in between that is so creamy and light with enough sweetness to counterbalance the crust and all topped with ground pecans we also ordered the cinnamon swirl coffee cake, the cinnamon combo with the coffee is delicious read more

You need to go to this place. I just randomly stopped in one day lured in by a sign. My husband had the best peach pie and I had a sundae with an amazing brownie. We took home a bunch of baked goods that were absolutely delicious. The loaf of bread was to die for. The following week I took a walk on my lunch break with friends and they all bought something different and later told me they couldn't believe how good the desserts were. The delicious Croatian Apple Strudel that I received as a gift from Sweet Temptations Du Jour is light, a bit lemony, and absolutely amazing. I will definitely order more of their baked goods. Very odd hours for a "bakery". Tried a cookie that my daughter deemed "too dry", unfortunately, I found it to be inedible as well. Unfortunate that Allentown can't seem to establish a decent culinary scene/selection in the neighborhood. It would be great for local residents to pick up a wonderful pastry on a Sunday morning with a great cup of coffee to boot. I guess "du jour" doesn't cover Sundays. Personally, I'm not in the mood for a "sweet temptation" at 9 pm. Maybe the owners are new to the city? Allentown visitors are ready for a drink in the evening, not a muffin. Having tasted their Croatian Apple Strudel for the first time a few weeks ago, when we had to decide on something to take to a party recently we immediately thought of Sweet Temptations. The party was on a Sunday and we went in mid-week to order a whole strudel. They're not really open on Sunday, but the owner insisted that she would be there so we could pick it up on our way to the party. Everyone loved the strudel, which was rich and moist, but not overly sweet. Many of the other guests said they intend to become regular Sweet Temptations customers. read more

Very disappointing experience! I've purchased their products at another retailer and was impressed by the taste and quality so I waited on a Saturday morning for the bakery to open at 10:00am. BTW, who opens a bakery at 10:00am? Nevertheless, I waited and walked through their door at 10:08am only to be told that the two items I was looking forward to, the cinnamon coffee cake and cinnamon rolls, were still baking for another 15-20 minutes or about to be put into the oven! How can you operate a bakery and not have your items available upon opening, especially when you open so ridiculously late in the morning? I was given a poor excuse which could not justify such a poor business practice. Needless to say, I left empty handed and traveled to another bakery! read more
