What looks like a longtime Williamsville institution, this bakery is located on a busy corner and is very large. Inside, along with a nice size seating area to eat and bakery ordering line, they have ready made baked goods throughout many different bakery cases and fridges, as well as pre-packaged options. Everything from kringles to cookies and scones to cupcakes and full custom cakes. I had read about legendary cinnamon scones and have been a huge scone kick (especially cinnamon!), so I had to try them. Not only do they make cinnamon though, they take a unique approach to their fruit scones by filling them with fruit jelly, so of course I tried a lemon blueberry filled scone too. The filled ones are better in theory than practice. The lemon flavor of the dough was almost nonexistent and the blueberry jam didn't spread well enough to help out the other lacking flavors. The cinnamon scone absolutely could have potential, but unfortunately mine was overly hard and crumbly - I wish I had asked for a specific, newer and lesser-baked one, but such is life :) read more

Recently I stopped in to pick up a few items to bring home for my wedding tasting. I chose a variety of cupcakes along with the Hello Dollies. The Hello Dollies were absolutely delicious those were a definite highlight. Unfortunately, the cupcakes weren't what I was hoping for. I can't pinpoint exactly what was missing, but the flavors just didn't stand out to me the way I expected. I did try to ask a few questions about wedding tastings while I was there, but the worker helping me didn't seem very enthusiastic or willing to offer much guidance. Since this is such an important part of planning my wedding, that part of the experience felt a bit disappointing. Overall, while I was really rooting for this to be "the place" especially since it's a big and popular bakery I don't feel confident moving forward with them for my wedding desserts. This place is dangerous, and by that I mean big back playground. One thing that vexes my spirit is a sweet treat that wasn't worth the caloric intake. Ohlson's is worth it! From the mini cakes, custom cakes, and cupcakes, you can NOT go wrong. My go to is the killer chocolate cupcake. The ambiance is a cross between your grandma's living room and a neighborhood cafe. There's breads, coffees, specialty drinks, cakes, cookies, pastries, and to go cakes. The service ranges from stellar to ok. On average, pretty good. I've never been disappointed with my treats and I'm a bit of a bake good snob as I'm a home baker myself. I had my baby shower this weekend and I sent Eliza some pictures and a description of what I was toying with in my mind for a cake. She'd never seen the movie, Labyrinth, before. My mother got my dad his most recent birthday cake here and picked up a few extra sweet treats for us to try -- and as a major dessert fiend, how could I say no! For his birthday cake, my dad chose the cassata cake, which I found really delicious and light, not overly sweet by any means. I've never had cassata cake before, so I don't have much to compare it to, but I know a good cake when I taste one, and this one was really good. I chose the wedding cake cupcake and it was very decadent -- way too much frosting for my taste, but the flavor captured that classic almond wedding cake essence. Love stopping here to grab a special treat but recently ordered our first custom cake from here. They blew us away with what we got. I stopped here a week and a half ago to get some sweet treats for myself and my friends for a friend's birthday. The birthday girl needed something gluten free, which this place had. I bought four cupcakes, two cookies, and one gluten-free cupcake. The order was just shy of $40!!! ‍ I was a bit taken aback, when the employee stated my total, but I was okay with it. I've always wanted to check this bakery out but never had the chance until this week! It's a small bakery located on the corner of Harris Hill and Sheridan. I came here with my friend after grabbing lunch. I certainly have a second stomach for dessert because I swear all the delicious baked goods and pastries were calling my name! The inside of the bakery is cozy and everyone that works here is SUPER friendly and helpful. They're really busy during the weekends (brunch line!) and sometimes there's a line even on weekdays. I've now tried the bakery goods here and they're delicious, they have free samples, their chocolate cupcakes are yummy, and most things are good, but the breakfast sandwiches steal the show by a mile on their homemade muffins. I heard they had breakfast sandwiches. So I moseyed on in like Alanis Morrissette on LSD. And they recommended that I get my egg and sausage sandwich on a muffin. They must be fans of Aerosmith vs Run DMC. Because you ain't seen nothing til you're chowing down on a muffin. And sure enough, OMG! I have found my favourite breakfast sandwich in the entirety of the Kingdom of the Commonwealth of the County of Western M*****F******* New York biyatches. The muffin was absolutely delicious and soft and fresh. The sausage was succulent and big and juicy and filled me up completely. It actually hurt going in. I yelped. In pain. I should probably not try to swallow it whole in future. And the egg was delicious too, juicy and wet (mmhmm) and there was more than one egg on there, the eggs were either side of the sausage, so the sausage was completely covered in eggs, this sausage was definitely very lucky to enjoy this 2-on-1 egg action. Easily the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had in WNY. Although another one I tried recently does come close so I will review that later. It just occurred to me, the older folks that go to Ohlson's might read this. And what will they ever think? After all, we all know they are way pervier than younger folks. Note to self: next time reviewing a place where lots of older people eat, make the review much pervier. Understood. Come here. Get the breakfast sandwich. Thank me later. No seriously.
