Service: We ordered 2 coffees and 1 tea. The server brings out the smallest cups of coffee I've ever seen--lol--and places them on the table with sugar and Splenda. We wait for the cream or milk... and wait... and wait. Finally she lets us know they don't have cream but she'll look for some milk. Turns out the only thing they have is heavy whipping cream. Then she leaves the coffee with us... so of course by the time we figure it out the coffee is cold. Cold coffee anyone? If you're open for brunch, how are you not prepared to serve coffee properly??? Especially with a supermarket across the street! SMH. The server (who was dealt a tough hand) offers to reheat the coffee. I accept. She brings it back and now the cup is so hot you can't even put your lips on it--clearly microwaved. You really can't make this stuff up! Food: Salty and honestly unappetizing, especially for $30+ per plate. The picture pretty much shows how much we enjoyed it... because most of it was left on the plate. 12% service charge is included in your bill and it goes straight to the restaurant. Weird! And that's not gratuity. SMH Bright side: The music was amazing. Done here.... I just want us to do better. SMH

Food 9/10 Service 10/10 (Carlos was amazing!!!) Oxtail + Grits- 8/10 Haddock Bites- 10/10 Cajun Cream sauce- 10/10 Strawberry Cheesecake Pancakes - wasn't mine, but presentation was a 10. There were mixed reviews from both family and friends. I've also seen reviews on social media as well. I thought it'd be best to come try for myself. We came here on a Friday afternoon. The Restaurant was completely empty when we came. Carlos seated us right away and he was pleasant and attentive the whole time. By the time we left, there were at least 5-6 other parties, plus ppl at the bar. We had a great experience. Give it a try for yourself. Thanks again, Carlos!

The Food quality is amazing, the Mac and cheese was delectable honestly one of my favorite dishes of the night. The waitress we had was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. One downside to this restaurant I would say is the wait, we were at the table for 20 to26 minutes before our starters arrived. A word of note there is an 20% gratuity regardless of the party size. Overall I had a great experience the food is worth the wait and the ambiance is amazing.

Amaaaazing food and vibes. The service was okay. Let's start with the pros, then move to cons. Leaving the review for the food, but overall score would be closer to 4 due to service/seating. Pros: * Amazing ambiance downstairs, dim lighting, with amaaaazing live music although very loud (maybe mic volumes could be a bit lowered so you can still hear your company while listening to beautiful music?) * Greatttt food. We ordered the loaded fries which were a massive portion for an app and were delicious. We also ordered the Jerk Lamb Chop Pasta and if you're going here, I feel like you HAVE to get this. It was expensive, but sooo delicious and a lot of food. We split this order between 2 girls and had atleast 30% of the food left to take home from these 2 items. Cons: * Looks like they stopped seating downstairs (where the live music was playing) after 7pm. We could hear the music upstairs but it wasn't the sameee. the lighting upstairs also is very traditional, homey feeling. It was fine, but the ambiance downstairs under the glass area is beautiful so I wish they reserved that for customers instead of the band that's playing that night. It'd be such a nice experience. * Our server mentioned she doesn't get to keep the service fee (which is automatically added to every bill, even for 2 people), so we had to tip on top of the included service fee... and when we asked if she'd receive that... she shrugged... felt a little sketch. Overall, would absolutelyyy go here again for the food, but would ask to be seated downstairs and would also check when live music begins and ends because it didn't seem to start until 7:30pm (on a Saturday), and they advertise live music all the time.

The four of us went here right as they opened on Sunday for brunch. We didn't have a reservation but were seated right away. Still would recommend a reservation because they were packed by the time we left. The place was very cute and had some spots that would be good for pictures. No live music at the time, probably because it was too early. The lamb appetizer was very delicious - definitely had a kick! The LH Breakfast Bowl was huge! My friend only finished half and took home the rest. Chicken & waffles were good. If I had to split hairs, the grits could be cheesier and the chicken was a tad on the dry side. The Toffee French Toast set was very scrumptious and we had no complaints about it!

We went here with a group of 10 people for a birthday dinner. From the time that we arrived, the staff was super friendly and accommodating. I ordered the chicken and waffles, which was topped with fresh fruit. The waffle was light, fluffy and full of flavor. The chicken was perfectly fried, but a bit bland. Once paired with the waffle and fruit, it was all good though. Everyone else in our party enjoyed their meal and had no complaints. The restaurant is fairly new and still in the soft opening phase. Cannot wait for them to fully open, as we highly enjoyed our time there.

We had a reservation for 7:20PM, when we arrived at 7:08, we were not seated until 7:35. We did not receive even a glass of water until 7:50. Water is clearly faucet water. The music is so low that you can hear the conversations at the tables next to you. The fireplace is not on, but they do have a fireplace picture on the tv displaying. I ordered a strawberry lemon drop, which also took 20 minutes to arrive. We ordered turkey burgers, when the wait got long I asked the server what was the time check on them. I was told the burgers were down but they were not turkey, beef instead. WE DONT EAT RED MEAT. Not once had they stopped to mention that they were going to serve us beef and not say anything. So if we had chosen to eat, we would have gotten sick! Ended up paying $20 for a strawberry lemon drop, picture included. Terrible service, terribly long wait times. I will NOT be returning.

Salmon something. I dont remember just know it was delicious.

Our first time going here together all our meals were delicious and the portion sizes were great! I loved the experience and our service and server/hostess/bartender was amazing. I forgot her name but she is Hispanic with bright red hair. At my next dine in experience I will as told she quit. As she should. There's no reason she should be doing all three jobs at once. At this same visit the food was not good. The portion sizes were smaller and whoever made the steak is not at all skilled in the art of preparing and cooking steak. It was burnt on the outside. Black like charcoal and inside was very much rare, much of the sliced steak portions on my plate and my dates plate were identical and the tasted of charge from the grill but as if it needed cleaning. That taste was not appreciated. Have you ever tried chewing leather? Well that's what it was like for us. Unsuccessful chews. The Rasta pasta was not what my date expected, nor I. Although the other parties I came with before didn't mind the type of pasta in the Rasta pasta, my date on this day absolutely did and so did I. The type of pasta used makes a dish taste differently. He added shrimp, steak and chicken. Had it been penne pasta or the like, it would have tasted better to us. Also onions and multi colored peppers would help the dish along as well. The first visit they had red onion and yellow pepper. We expected those items to be in there and they weren't. I sent my food back to get another dish because aside from the steak not being good or edible the sauce for the fasts was not good either. I forgot the name of the dish, but it blue cheese. My drink wasn't made the same either. It didn't even look like the same drink. I had a French 75 both dates. It was so pretty I took a video the first time. I was disappointed in the food not the service. My server was great I tipped her again after my date tipped her. I apologize I forgot her name. I'm not great with names. I ended taking home the salmon dish that I order my first time here. It was made by a different person and it was obvious. It was decent I had no complaints. The sauce was more seasoned the first time but everything was cooked well so I left satisfied with that.

When you enter you'll see a sign that says please wait to be seated. Walk past the sign and to the right for the actual host stand. That part was a little weird. The staff here is friendly. I believe it was the owner that walked around and ensured everything was okay which is always a nice touch. I've been twice now and both meals were good. I've had the rasta pasta and the snapper on a Wednesday for carribean night. Both meals were prepared excellent and were very delicious. Drinks are great as well. Heads up, prices are a bit steep. For that reason, I'd probably only patronize them once or twice a year.

When we first walked in, there was know one at the hostess station. We had reservations for a party of three for 1pm. We went and asked the bartender where we should go and she pointed us to the hostess station we're we waited for over 20 minutes. Upon finally being seated we were given water. We ordered mimosas and those took awhile to arrive to our table as well. We ordered the haddock bites which were phenomenal. It appeared they were extremely short staffed. Our food took awhile to arrive as well. The owner arrived and she started clearing off tables. There were 2 ladies sitting near us and they waited so long they finally walked out. While were eating there was a gentleman that started cleaning and sweeping the floor which I felt like that should've waited. The chicken and waffles was just ok. My mom enjoyed her fish and grits and my sister enjoyed her haddock sandwich. We had to ask for plates and silverware when our haddock bites arrived. The owner did come to our table to greet us which was nice. I would say the overall experience wasn't the best the service quality is horrible. I definitely dont think I'll be back and we like supporting black owned businesses this restaurant was disappointing they also charge a 12% service charge and our server could not explain why.

The other reviews here pretty much say it all, so my main reason for adding anything is to comment on their use of metal trays instead of plates, a growing custom it seems, and fine by me. But.... We said, when asked, that we were dining in. The 420 Fries came boxed on the parchment lined tray. I'd suggest when the customer is eating in that they save the box and assemble meals that come in a box for take-out directly onto the tray. It would make for a much more attractive dining experience. The fries: small potato wedges. The 420: if poutine and nachos got married and had a baby, they'd name it 420. They were very good. A health-conscious note: menu suggestion for those watching carbs says anything that comes on bread can be served on saffron rice or on power grains, or on a large flour tortilla, or on salad greens. And for the vegetarian folks, garlic-roasted mushrooms can be substituted for meat on any sandwich. Check out their menu at tortugasandwich.com I'll be back. Next up for me-- the Vicuna on salad greens.

Living in Buffalo several years now, I've never been out to Hertel Ave to grab food and drinks -…read moreSurprising, I know! Thanks to a Yelp Elite event on Hertel Ave., I FINALLY changed that with a fantastic late dinner at The Burning Buffalo Bar & Grill. One of the main reasons I don't like to go out in Buffalo is parking - I'm always anxious about finding a spot that's close to where I'm going, as well as not having to pay for it. It was 7:45pm on a Tuesday, so street parking was free so one obstacle down, and amazingly, I managed to park right in front of The Burning Buffalo Bar & Grill, but across the street - I'll take it! Upon walking inside, there were a few tables outside full of people having dinner and drinks with one waitress managing all of it. I walked in and was surprised how big, spacious it was. First order of business though was hitting the restroom, which was on the small side, but clean. After that, I grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender was a young, pretty woman who was very personable. Unsure of what to grab for a drink, she asked what beers I usually go for and with that, she was fired off a few beers on draught I might like. I settled on the Jack's Abby Post Shift Pilsner and enjoyed sipping on that the rest of the night. She handed me the food menu and took care of a few other customers while I figured out what I wanted. I got it down to two items and I asked her for her recommendation, which was excellent and how I'd order, if and when I make it back. But similar to what other reviews on Yelp say, the atmosphere was very much like a neighborhood bar and grill, where everyone knows each other and if they don't know you, they're still more than willing to let you hop in and out of the conversation. I felt very comfortable sitting and listening to the "regulars" chat, watching a baseball game on the TVs behind the bar. So for dinner, I decided on ordering their Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich which is topped with lettuce, tomato, sriracha mayo, and cheddar cheese, with pickles underneath between a soft, brioche bun with a side of hand cut fries and a pickle spear on the side. The bartender recommended swapping out the cheddar cheese with pepperjack cheese, an awesome swap! The size of the fried chicken breast was HUGE by itself! I was so impressed how the well the sandwich held together as I devoured it. The chicken was hot, not greasy at all. The lettuce and tomato tasted fresh and looked crisp, there was plenty of that pepperjack cheese on top the chicken and pickles underneath. The sriracha mayo was excellent, albeit I would've liked more of it, I think more would've made the sandwich messy and hard to handle, so it really was the right amount on there. The hand cut fries were great as well; Crispier on the ends and softer in the center but plenty hot and not over seasoned. If you've seen other reviews of mine, you'll get the sense I have a pretty big appetite so I was able to demolish the sandwich but I couldn't finish all my fries, so that should be enough to tell you the portions here are HUGE and AWESOME! At first glance, the prices look expensive but I think they're justified as the quality and portions are phenomenal, I certainly felt I got my money's worth. I'm so happy that after several years of living in Buffalo, I made it over to Hertel Ave. finally! I'm also glad I chose The Burning Buffalo Bar and Grill for dinner. The quality and quantity of food, the friendly neighborhood atmosphere, the personable staff, what more can you ask for? I can't wait to come back and grab another Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich or maybe give their North Buffalo Cheesesteak a try!
