We were meeting friends late on a weeknight when we all realized we were hungry. Not knowing where to go, we decided to visit the one place we know is always open late, has reasonably priced items, and a variety. Also, they have a nice spread of breakfast items too! I wasn't very hungry so I ordered the soup and BLT. My wife and our friends all ordered breakfast items, from pancakes, eggs, etc. Altons isn't fancy, as it isn't meant to be fancy, but they have some decent decor, good service from the staff, reasonable items, and never a regret after visiting them. I find them to be a Cheektowaga classic, a not so hidden gem, and a business I hope lives on for a long long time. read more

Went here twice while staying in Buffalo. Breakfast only but the lunch and dinner menu was tempting. One day I had a traditional country omelette. Ham bacon, sausage, onions, peppers, and cheese as the menu says. Sides of home fries and toast. We told the waitress that we had an appointment and had to leave rather quickly, which I hate to do, but she responded professionally. Food was out in no time. We were thrilled with the meal. Plenty of time to eat, but we couldn't finish it all. Some actually went in the to go box and had next morning. Came back on the day we were leaving, I had the biscuit and gravy with scrambled eggs. In the photo the bacon I stole from my spouse. Once again, very warm service, excellent food. Menu says the place opened in the early 1980s, it has the ambience of an old time family restaurant. Just glad they can survive in today's economic conditions. I will definitely return next time I'm in Buffalo. read more

Alton's deserves all the praise they get. From extremely friendly staff , quick ticket times in the kitchen, and portions and flavor. They're a "Go to" establishment for us and I'm shocked I haven't left a review yet. The French toast breakfast didn't disappoint the misses with big slices, cooked perfectly, a side of nice fluffy eggs and some ham. A solid breakfast. The mother in law opted for the tuna sandwich which she told me was very good. And the star of the show was that open chicken souvlaki. Piled high chicken and vegetable. I just wish it came with a full pita and more of that amazing sauce. Definitely will be making another stop soon read more

I'm always impressed when dining here. It's our go to when we need a last minute place to grab dinner. There is never a long wait, the staff are all very friendly, and the food is always served quickly. My favorite thing to order is the chicken finger sub because they always have the perfect balance of fingers to veggies. The sub is only served with a pickle though so you will need to order fries separately and should not skip this because their fries are really good! I also love the spinach dip appetizer because it is served with pita bread when most places serve it with tortilla chips. Bonus here is breakfast is served all day so if you feel like having pancakes for dinner, you're at the right place! read more

Food was dry and flavorless. Outrageous prices. 55 dollars for a low level buffet. The food was sitting out forever. Not worth the money.

It's a nice restaurant the staff is friendly and it's never a long wait to be seated. They have a nice back room for larger parties, I once came with 10-12 people. I like the pork chops they have always been cooked perfectly and friend keeps getting me to try the clam chowder soup it's only available on Fridays. read more

We usually go to Sheridan Family restaurant but they were closed until after Labor Day, so we finally tried Altons. I got the slouvlaki chicken wrap with fries. The chicken was very tender, there just wasn't much of it. I did not like the fries either, they were over cooked, but not crispy, almost flavorless. Always a great meal at Alton's. The hostess station is always manned, you never have to wait long for a table. Both of their locations are sparkling clean and decorated in a nostalgic diner style. Great coffee, fresh entrees and sumptuous desserts. This is why I keep coming back. read more

We were greeted and seated immediately upon arrival and our waitress arrived shorty after and took our beverage orders first. She gave an appropriate amount of time for us to look over the menu before coming to take our orders. My dad ordered a pancake breakfast and I had a cheeseburger, fries and coleslaw. To say we received our meals in record time was an understatement! There was a decent sized crowd in the restaurant and we got our food, FAST! Piping hot and just delicious. My dad's pancakes were about the size of an adult human head, the eggs were airy and the bacon crispy. My cheeseburger was cooked well, my fries...hot, crispy and plentiful! Been here many times, but tonight flipped my stomach , I ordered the spaghetti & meatball which comes with Texas toast... I ate two forks full of spaghetti and cut the meatball and was ready to put some on the toast and UGH a hair was embedded in the toast... So disgusting... My stomach turned so did my wife's .. the waitress Olga took it in back and of course we wanted nothing else... She brings the bill and the food was taken off but we still were charged $7.70 for a half finished coffee & not even half my soft drink We were very surprised that we were expected to even pay for the drinks since after finding hair in our food we didn't trust anything coming from the kitchen. Stopped by for lunch and wasn't expecting much as I have been here before several years ago. I ordered the Cobb salad and when it came to the table was blown away. The size and the presentation was amazing. It was bursting with flavor. I'm not sure if everyone in the party enjoyed their food as much as me! I recently had lunch at Alton's and had their open chicken souvlaki.... Very delicious!! The chicken was tender and juicy and I love the spices they use on the souvlaki. The portions are quite generous and you can get dill or tzatziki sauce on the side. You also get a delicious potato on the side. Service was very friendly... shout out to Caroline who was very attentive and gave us excellent service with a smile! The place is fairly large, but busy at lunch time. Although I only waited about 5 minutes or so. They have tables or booths to sit at. Their menu is pretty extensive, but I always gravitate to the souvlaki because it is sooo good. This has always been one of my favorite restaurants to go to. You are sure to get enough food, and the service is excellent . Look at all that moist chicken.. this was my first time trying the stuffed hot peppers, and they were delicious. This is one of the places you take your out of town guests to. It took a little time to be seated and it wasn't too busy but our waitress was wonderful. I think her name was Danielle. The food was excellent and the price was as expected. My friends got few different things since they visitimg and wanted to try chicken Soulvaki. The gluten-free offerings were solid as well for someone in my party. Sunday morning breakfast while on vacation is as important as football for me. So while in Buffalo I almost lost hope of this pastime tradition until I found "Alton's." Being this far north, breakfast was hard to come by. However on Yelp, a friend of mine, visited this restaurant so I figured, why not. We arrived pretty early, it was great the place opened at six in the morning. Coming inside, the place was pretty spacious and full of wooden trim. Seating was booths on the side and table and chairs in the middle. The waitress, slash, hostess, slash townie, helped us to our seat. She was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about Buffalo. Even though we were decked out in New York Giants gear, she knew what team we were rooting for (joke). After the conversation, we placed our order and she moved quick to get it in. Even quicker, was how fast it got to the table. It came out hot and ready. After which time we started to eat. That is where the success of this place is. The food was great! I enjoyed the home fries the most. Not to beat a dead horse, most restaurants don't make flavorful home fries, some restaurants give you potatoes and ketchup. Even the wheat bread was delicious. I completely would recommend this location to anyone visiting the area. However, you may disagree and enjoy the wait staff conversation more than the food. read more

This has a decidedly Greek theme, so there are all kinds of lamb entrées for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and everything else you might expect from a full-service diner.
