I did the take out thing tonight and got myself a beer battered fish fry! I was pleasantly surprised on the amount of food I had once I got home! Bella took care of me at the register and over the phone! She is very kind and made sure I had everything I needed to enjoy my dinner! That indeed I did! Thank you Bella and Syro's staff! I will be back to dine in soon! PEACE read more

Syros Restaurant - My evening fish fry from Syro's! - Greek Near Me - Lewiston, New York

One star is too much for this restaurant; everything there is far too sweet. They don't ask if you like it sweet--they simply load everything with an excessive amount of sugar. On top of that, the dishes are so huge that just two of them take up the entire table, yet they try to cram everything onto it--as if we were animals. read more

Place was packed on Mothers Day! Diner setting, started w a spicy bloody marry, hit the spot. Has the spanakopisla app that was delicious! The gyro was average, skimped on the lettuce, tomatoes, and sauce. The meat wasn't homemade, probs frozen pieces they warm up. "Greek" potatoes were boiled wedges w no flavor- couldn't eat these. The omelet w homefries was a generous portion, seasoned well. Service was ok but getting our check was painfully slow, but they were really busy. read more

A quaint diner style restaurant with lots of table and countertop seating. The staff is very warm and friendly. We enjoyed a relaxed lunch of chicken and gyro souvlaki. The meat was tender , esp. the chicken. They have a nice restroom and plenty of parking on site and across the street at the park. The French fries that accompanied our souvlaki were the basic frozen variety. I would have preferred a Greek potato or even rice as a choice. They have a large. Menu and are family friendly from kids to seniors. Wooden high chairs are available for your lil ones and tables are spread far enough apart to carry on a conversation with fellow diners. read more

Portions.. OMG you can feed an army on one portion. Friendly fast service. I had the plate with a Greek salad, gyro meat, Greek potatoes and pita bread. Everything was delicious. I can only eat half. Definitely a good place to eat. read more

When randomly picking a place, it's always a good sign when you pull up and the parking lot is full. Syros has all the charm and appeal of a local diner. Family owned or at least family run. Have been traveling for about a week and had all types of food and here we could get good Mediterranean food. Service was a little slow starting but hey, busy place at 1130. Ordered gyro wrap with fries and Gyro with Greek salad. Neither dish disappointed. In fact hubs said, best fries of the week!!Yelp recommendation once again for the win! Unfortunately was so hungry didn't take pictures read more

I used to like this place but the quality is slipping. I had a vegetable omelette with home fries. The home fries had quite a bit of crispy burnt potato dregs mixed in but then there was a piece of chicken and bacon in there too. I have a friend who is a vegetarian and this would have been a disaster for her. I didn't appreciate the bacon either. On a busy Sunday morning, while waiting a bit for service, the owner apologized and sent a server over. Then he apologized twice more during our meal. I appreciate that kind of sincere care for customers. Look forward to another visit when we're in Lewiston. read more

A comfortable Greek/American restaurant with a wide variety of menu choices for all meals. We had chicken souvlaki pita and beef on wick, both average. Beef was a bit dry but they didn't have Au jus to refresh it. Service was friendly and owner was present to check on customer satisfaction. read more

I love this place. It's underrated, and has great food. It deserves more love. The service is also great, with great waiters and waitresses. I have never seen a greater place than this. Thank you for being in my life, as I am moving to Arizona. I will miss this place. read more

Food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Waitstaff were very attentive. Wonderful experience.

Excellent food with a very friendly staff. New owner continues to carry the traditions of the former owners. Always will accommodate you. Highly recommend for a casual dining experience read more

Sadly no photos for this review... I was too busy enjoying my company & conversation. The menu is chock-full of delicious Greek-American fare. Tempting spreads of hummus & tzatziki, stuffed grape leaves, burgers, seafood, and mouthwatering desserts. My companions enjoyed the half fish fry and shrimp dinners, each on an enormous plate and overflowing with sides. I couldn't help but "mmm" my way through a perfectly cooked chopped sirloin with grilled onions, a side of vegetables, and a rather large side salad with a portion of tzatziki as a treat. One companion enjoyed a slice of chocolate cream pie with a gorgeous cookie bottom crust and a cup of coffee for dessert. The only sad part about our visit, aside from being seated near the men's bathroom, was a delay in service the busier the restaurant became. Our server was extremely polite, was able to provide me with 3 refills of coffee, and took the best care she could. I'll be dreaming about that meal for a long time and can't wait to go back! read more

There weren't many places open in this sleepy town on a Sunday, but I'm glad we found this place. It has the look and feel of a classic Greek diner but they had some nice surprises. For example, mimosas for $4.50. And, they were strong! We had barely placed our order and started talking when our food was delivered. Seriously, it took about 5 minutes. My wife got the Greek salad with chicken. The chicken itself was a bit dry, but there was a massive portion of it. The dressing was very good, and the side of pita bread was a nice touch. I got the souvlaki breakfast, where I replaced the toast with pita bread, so I can make my own little gyros. The tzatziki sauce is mostly Greek yogurt, but it did the job. The home fries were good. We decided to add a side of fries, which turned out to be a great idea the fries are like the type they have at Rally's. Our waitress was also friendly, and very quick to refill coffee and add extra things when we needed them. And, the price is very reasonable. The only exception: each extra 2-ounce tzatziki sauce cup cost us $1.75. Ouch! Definitely a place to stop if you're in a hurry, we want to save some money and get some good food, but I think I'll skip the extra tzatziki sauce. read more

Had terrible food a week ago but we tried again tonight! just terrible! Greek potato's ice cold with no seasoning. Fries under cooked. lousy fish fry and to top it off a hair in my food. ordered online notified it was ready but when we went to pick up they had given the rder to the wrong person so waited another half hour. read more

Quaint small town restaurant trying very hard to serve their patrons a hearty and tasty dish. There is quite a variety of different cuisines on the menu. I ordered the spanakopita with a Greek salad, and it was other than what I am used to but still edible. My companion ordered a Greek Chicken salad, and for him, it was okay. I enjoyed my salad. read more

Every town's gotta have a hometown greek-but-also-serves-diner-food diner, right? In Lewiston, this is it! We stopped in here for breakfast before attending the Tour of Homes before Christmas - the party I was sitting with was an entire family (my father's girlfriend's), so we had taken up at least five tables with 20+ people. Despite the huge party, the waitstaff had no trouble taking our food and drink orders, and accommodating us when more people arrived for coffee after breakfast. I had tea, as always, and ordered your basic eggs with toast, sausage, and home fries. Nothing terribly mind-blowing or memorable, but I definitely enjoyed my food. We didn't have to wait too long for all of our food to arrive, and it came all at once, so kudos to them! I don't think I'd travel all the way out to Lewiston just to come here, but would certainly enjoy meeting up here for a family breakfast like we had done before. I'd also be interested in eating here for lunch and dinner, however, as the food was pretty inexpensive compared to some of the other places in town! read more

Ok so I feel a little guilty writing this because this is a dinner review and last time I came here it was years ago and for breakfast which was fine I think. Maybe even good? We ordered Greek chicken salad dinners and the lettuce was wilted and the chicken tasted old. The potatoes needed some tlc as well. The service was okay but nothing stood out and the waitress seemed to be operating in under water time. The ambience tho smh...those rugs why?! Nothing about the place seemed cleanly. It also smells like fryer oil that needs to be changed. I know 3 stars seem generous considering all this, but I do see potential. It will just take a lot of hard work and rebranding for me to return here. read more

I've had Greek many times This is okay. But, maybe I just got too much, but the lemon or tartness on the potatoes was way over kill. Way too much. I could barely tolerate them. Also, when I walked in to pick up my take out order, there was a staff member discussing something with another customer right where the take out orders were sitting on the counter. Rather than ask me which was my order, he walked away. I don't understand the mentality of people these days. Customer service is a thing of the past. read more

I have eaten brunch here, lunch and dinner. I have eaten in, taken food to go and had food delivered from here. I cannot say anything negative. I have tried a great variety of men items from here. Came here for 1st time yesterday for breakfast. I ordered the Greek breakfast skillet. Potatoes, peppers, onions, Greek chicken, eggs with toast. Will not go back here. DO NOT GO HERE. The food is terrible. I ordered eggs over easy with home fries and toast. The toast was burned. The potatoes were cold. The eggs were undercooked with the whites leaking (only the yoke is supposed to be leaky). I ate a few bites, paid the $10 and left. AVOID this place. read more

This review is for breakfast only. After going to the Villa every time we have been in town for the last decade I asked our friends if we could try something different and Syros was suggested. At 8am on a weekday we were one of only two tables with guests. I'm not sure how the place can afford to stay open. The service was solid, but the food was at par with places like Shoneys, Bob Evans, Denny's and IHOP. Nothing was fresh. All tasted like it came off a food distributor's truck. The bacon looked microwaved. The potatoes were clearly sitting under a heat lamp for who knows how long. Basically, it's an affordable, low grade breakfast. We'll be returning to the Villa next time. read more

Ok, we're from out of town. Wanted dinner with a beer. They DO NOT have chilled glasses. Strike one. They didn't know what Delmas were but have stuffed grape leaves on the menu. Strike two. The Mousavi was ok, not great but ok. Not hot either. The lemon chicken soup was hot at least. The Greek Penne Pasta was a huge disappointment. Had it with chicken but the large chunks of chicken were dry, the pasta was tasteless. Left 3/4 of it on the plate. Menu says they have breakfast and we considered it before we got dinner as it is close to where we are staying. But after dinner not sure that they could cook eggs right. I had noticed it only has 3 stars before we went but thought that can't be bad, right. I now will put more faith in the ratings others have given. read more

We wanted to have breakfast at a place we had been to before, in Lewiston, but it had moved to Youngstown. We asked for suggestions for a good place to have breakfast and was told Syros was good and boy oh boy, they were right. I had never had a Greek breakfast before so I thought I should try something Greek. The waitress suggested the Greek skillet with chicken and it was great! Enough food for two breakfasts. I had pita bread, to stick with the Greek theme and it was really good -- hot, with just enough crunch. Just an excellent breakfast!!! read more

My husband and I got takeout from here on a recent trip to the area where we were staying in a hotel close to this place. We arrived in the late evening and were tired, so ordered food to take back to our room and eat. It was fish fry night so that's what we ordered. The fish fry was decent - a little bit on the limp/ less crispy side, but okay. We were not thrilled to discover after he had returned with the takeout that the restaurant had neglected to put any plastic ware in the bag, or direct him to where he could get some. It was 10 pm and we had no utensils so we ended up having to eat the greasy fish with our fingers. I woke up several hours later feeling extremely sick and proceeded to deal with puking and stomach cramps for the next 6 hours. As the only other thing I had eaten in the last 24 hours was 2 Dunkin Donuts the previous morning, I figured I got a bad piece of fish. My husband was fine so I guess I'll never know for sure, but I will probably avoid eating here again when I come back. read more

I would hesitate to call this Greek, but they do have gyros, salads with feta cheese, and beef and chicken 'souvlaki'. For me, souvlaki is lamb. The Greek skillet breakfast is pretty good and unique (even among Greek joints). The avogolemno soup is the real thing. In the last year they went from weak to a pretty good diner with some neat entries. A year ago, they were a 3. They kicked it up and deserve a 4. They went from quirky local place to as good a breakfast or lunch place as anywhere. We go there for breakfast and lunch regularly from the office, never been for dinner. Good portions. Reasonable prices. Lots of selection. read more
