Total cost was $200 with only two alcoholic drinks. Food needs to be exciting, flavorful and presented well in this competitive environment. This is a local place that has an amazing breakfast. we came in for breakfast at 10 am, at 1145 am we still have not received the breakfast we ordered at 1020 am. there was one big party seated in the back room (maybe 24 people). the first 'delay' was that our orders went in at the same time, then the second 'delay' was there was no room on the grill- none of it made sense as the restaurant was at best 60 % full - excuses didn't help as many of our party had a 12 noon function to attend and had to leave with out eating. There was a time where The Howling Rooster was a good choice for breakfast or lunch... but, not anymore! It is very expensive and the service is sub-par. In addition to charging extra for a small container of dipping sauce for their chicken wings, they were very obstinate when I asked them if they washed their lemons before serving them as garnish or to brighten water. I learned many, if not, most restaurants don't wash their lemons and The Howling Rooster is no exception. This is a health risk considering what microbes can reside on the skin of the lemon and transfer to the customer's gut. This also brings up concerns about the cleaning and preparation of other fruits and vegetables. We don't know what vermin defecated on these during transport. For the high prices, abrupt service, as well as the unsanitary practices, I will not be returning to this establishment. read more

Was looking for a brunch place with my friend and found howling rooster. From the parking lot you'd think there was no way you'd be able to get a table but this place must be huge. We sat in the side room with the bar because it seemed quieter and had a delicious and very reasonably priced brunch with exciting flavors of mimosa (they have a bunch of interesting flavor choices) and lots of coffee. As soon as I walked into the restaurant, I knew there was going to be a problem. The amount of attitude and bad service I received was unacceptable. I don't know if the staff treats everyone the way I was treated, but as a hispanic man it seemed targeted and I'll get to that later. I stopped in to get food after a 7 hour drive dropping my son off at college. I ordered wings, and they were undercooked. Then I ordered BBQ Spare Ribs.. Calamari.. again, undercooked. When I asked to see a manager I got instant attitude, and it seemed as though they simply sent over another server NOT a manager who also extremely rude. When I mentioned that the ribs were undercooked I was told that pork was supposed to be like that, but I'm sorry, pork is NOT supposed to be pink. This is when the racial profiling comes in... when I mentioned I had just traveled from Westchester County the vibe completely changed and they became slightly more pleasant and started treating me more nicely. They took the Spare Ribs off the bill, but left the other undercooked items on which isn't the overall issue here. As a restaurant owner myself, I would like to suggest to my fellow restaurant owner to train your staff better on food safety protocol. I could have gotten extremely sick off of all of the food I was served. Please set up and stick to a server, manager hierarchy for situations such as these. And PLEASE do not judge a book by its cover. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this establishment, but wish you the best. read more

What an excellent vibe, casual and fun, blues music overhead and delightful food and drinks. We tried the spinach bread and pretzel nuggets - both high fives. The mixed drinks and the white wines were very good. Our group enjoyed dinners that includes a steak sandwich, a bacon crusted meatloaf, pot roast and linguini and meatballs. Each diner was very happy with their choice. Between the service, the vibe and the food, we will be returning again and again. The outdoor patio awaits in better weather. I came here for brunch with a friend on a Sunday and it was pretty busy! There were patio seats and indoor seating, but we opted for indoor seating since there was no wait. They won't seat you until your entire party arrives, but that wasn't an issue at all as there were plenty of seats available indoors. I got the special which was chocolate chip crepes and they were delicious! It was the perfect portion size and just the right amount of sweetness. The food was nothing special. Could have easily made this meal at home. We were excited about the pierogis that tasted like they came out of the freezer section of the grocery store. There are so many places to brunch in Buffalo and I don't think this one is worth it overall. The last time I was here was better than this time. The parking is pretty rough on a Sunday morning. They run out of space quickly, so you may need to park along the road or on a side street. It was weird when we first got there because we could tell they weren't full, but there was quite a wait to be seated (and not like the tables were needing to be turned over, either). I'm not sure what the host was doing, but he wrote our name down and told us it would be a bit. We waited 10 minutes ish I think. It doesn't really make sense that all of the tables on the patio are the same size. We had five people in our party and it was difficult for all of us to fit around the table. I don't like any place where I have to ask for water (or that the server can't count the number of people to bring the correct number when we do ask). Both of my friends who ordered their eggs over medium said (and showed us) that they were actually over easy. The potato pancakes were good, the chocolate chip pancake didn't look anything special and the French toast wasn't. We had a weird interaction with our server in which she told us the mimosas were different prices, when the menu said they were all $7. We had asked if we could do a mix of juices (like pineapple orange) and that was her answer instead of saying no. At least they were strong and there were quite a few flavor options, I suppose. I had the garden bowl, which was pretty good with lots of veggies, but the egg being on top how it was was kinda strange as well. The portion size was sizable -- two pieces of toast with avocado spread, and then an egg on each slice. I couldn't finish it all! The rest of my group got omelettes, eggs benedict, and pancakes, which speaks to the range of options they offer here. Everyone was really happy with what they got. I'd absolutely come here again if the opportunity arises. This place is great! I've been here about 5 times. Their breakfast is usually top notch. I always get the eggs Benedict and devour it. My wife loves it as well. I've never had a bad experience with service or the food. There is a Bar inside with a wide variety of beer and mixed drinks. It's an open concept floor plan but the noise when it's full, bounces off of every wall. I have to talk very loud for my wife to hear across the table. Parking lot is TINY, and it's an awkward shaped lot. So get there early if you want to enjoy delicious food! Overall, I recommend for everyone to give it a try. read more

I really love breakfast/brunch places, and I was so excited to try this because of so many great reviews, but I was very disappointed. Breakfast is such an important meal to get right when it comes to customer service. It's the start to someone's day. While the food was good, the service here failed miserably. I had been here once before (service was fair and food was good), so when craving breakfast, I thought it would be a good place to return. I knew from experience it could get loud sitting in a middle section, so we asked to be seated at an edge seat, which the hostess obliged without issue. Immediately after she left, I saw an interaction between her and the woman who I soon after realized was our waitress. I could tell there was some definite tension, and that carried into the service at our table. The waitress never introduced herself, and after taking our orders, I didn't see her again (at our table) until I asked another worker for the check. Now I did see her plenty of other times, particularly with the other waitresses, and for some reason they saw fit to point and look unpleased toward the table. I would've taken it personally if I didn't see the same waitress also not go up at all to another table she had (only two she did have from my view). We had issues getting appropriate take out containers (for example soup container when we had larger items including a piece of toast) and again the table was pointed at blatantly. I wasn't even able to get our waitress to ask for the container, and I do appreciate the help of the other worker who actually did attend to us, but the interaction I observed afterward was uncalled for. Then when the check came (finally from our waitress), we asked about an extra charge, which we were not told would be there when we asked for extra sauce, and we did not get in the past, and the waitress was especially snappy with her response. I was incredibly uncomfortable. It was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, which is a shame because I actually did like the food. The hollandaise is very smooth and has the right amount of citrus, and the egg was perfectly creamy. But even an awesome Benedict couldn't save this. I won't be back, and I look forward to finding a breakfast spot that can provide the atmosphere and not just decent food. read more

Ordering seafood can fill one with apprehension but these are possible the best grits I've had in my life and I do visit the South often. They had flavor and the texture was spot on. The Cod was light and flaky and the dredge perfect. Eggs were exactly how I like them which I find is harder to get than you'd think. I know eggs should have moisture but that isn't for me!
