    Cranberry mimosa (was ok)
    Rose I.

I had high hopes for this place, considering I never been here before... First off let me start off by saying, the staff is nice, the decor is pretty, has that cozy place feel. I think it's overpriced and the food was just ok. I ordered the taco burrito (I asked for a suggestion/opinion from our waitress) and a cranberry mimosa. I think it's overpriced and the taco burrito cost $14.99 and came with home fries. The waitress asked if I would like the home fries loaded (with peppers and onions and cheese). When I asked her how much, she said $4.95!! No thank you!! Let's charge the cost of a third of the entree price for a few diced peppers and onions and a sprinkle of cheese? I don't think so!! That's absolutely ridiculous!! I settled for onions in my home fries, for 89 cents extra. The burrito was just ok. The home fries were salty and you could taste the grease/oil in every bite. People are friendly and environment is nice but it's way overpriced for the taste/quality of the food. Needless to say, I probably won't be back.

Been here several times for dinner. Staff is really nice. The turkey/banana pepper grinder was very good. Lots of seating in restaurant area. Private room for events. One of better places to eat in Tonawanda

I came by on a Monday morning for breakfast with my brother. The room was nicely decorated and clean. There is outdoor seating available. I ordered scrambled eggs, homefries, bacon, and toast. I opted for multi-grain toast, which is nice to have as an option. The food was very good. Our server was friendly and attentive. This is a very pleasant place for a meal.

Jenna was patient with me & my kids - as this was our inaugural visit here. The kids were thrilled to have breakfast nearly all day. Pancakes all around! I loved the Farmhand Burger with Lettuce, tomato, onion, and Caramelized onion, spinach, mushrooms & feta cheese for an upcharge. It was juicy & big - a great lunch.

Definitely a good spot! I didn't realize it was local to me, but I've been a couple of times--once for brunch with friends and another time for dinner. Both times, the food and service were excellent. The location is great, and they have parking, a separate bar area if you just want drinks, good music, and a nice atmosphere overall. They also have a nice variety on the menu. I'd definitely go back!

I finally got the chance to go here to eat. The parking lot stays packed, today was a lucky day was not very crowded for lunch. The inside is a nice vibe. The service was great. We had Kelly and she was amazing. So nice and attentive. The food matched. Have go back for dinner try some of the drinks! We ordered the chicken and waffles. Everyone does a different take on this dish. I liked there spin of it. Loved the sausage gravy! My only thing I would definitely asked for the potatoes to be cooked alittle longer, there were slightly to hard for my liking. We also ordered the Turkey Grinder, this sandwhich was amazing. The turkey was not over cooked and dried out, and don't know what firecracker sauce but it was delicious and the banana pepper relish pulled it all together. The other sandwich we tried was the braised pot roast. Who doesn't love marble rye, but the pot roasted melted in our mouth. Got both sandwiches with the coleslaw.

The service was stellar! Kelly welcomed us and was the ideal server; informing us of food and drink offerings since it was our first time at The Howling Rooster. What an excellent vibe, casual and fun, blues music overhead and delightful food and drinks. We tried the spinach bread and pretzel nuggets - both high fives. The mixed drinks and the white wines were very good. Our group enjoyed dinners that includes a steak sandwich, a bacon crusted meatloaf, pot roast and linguini and meatballs. Each diner was very happy with their choice. Between the service, the vibe and the food, we will be returning again and again. The outdoor patio awaits in better weather. Next we want to try breakfast. The parking lot is always full, a good indication of a great place. Excellent experience.

Loved the food and the service was good as well..I had the chicken and waffles it was AMAZING

    Chocolate chip crepes

I came here for brunch with a friend on a Sunday and it was pretty busy! There were patio seats and indoor seating, but we opted for indoor seating since there was no wait. They won't seat you until your entire party arrives, but that wasn't an issue at all as there were plenty of seats available indoors. I got the special which was chocolate chip crepes and they were delicious! It was the perfect portion size and just the right amount of sweetness. Our server was friendly and the food came out quickly! The only downside is the parking lot as it is an odd shape and fills up quickly, so it's hard to park and get out of when it's so busy.

I really enjoyed my meal here! The French onion soup was fantastic. Loads of onions, the broth was really well seasoned, cheese melted perfectly. The wedge was a chopped wedge and very well dressed. All in all a good experience with very attentive service!

The person I was with ordered a Cafe Freddo, there wasn't much of a description besides coffee but they were willing to try. They were not a fan of it, they usually drink regular coffee or fraps so it could just be the type. They ordered Double Chocolate Chip Pancakes and bacon. They expected the double to mean the batter had chocolate in it too, though there were just chocolate chips inside and chocolate syrup drizzled on top. Overall, they were fine, not the best but not the worst. The bacon was fine, a bit more cooked than we like, but good flavor. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, which is one of my favorite breakfast item which came with home fries. With the Benedict there wasn't a lot hollandaise, which I do like a lot of. I asked for extra and was told there would be an additional 1$ charge. The issue here is the Eggs Benedict was already $17.95 which is about $3 more than the average Eggs Benedict in WNY. Overall, the hollandaise was good, just not a lot of it. The home fries were also good as they were crispy the way I like it. The feel of the diner is pretty neat, it's very retro inside and offers a different space to eat compared to typical restaurants. Overall, we would recommend Lake Effect Diner if you're into the diner experience as a one time visit. The food is fine, but not worth the higher prices. There are several other breakfast spots in WNY which are better priced and have better food. I talked with a few other peope after the visit and they all agreed in this sentiment.

Food was ready about five minutes after my scheduled time, which for as busy as they were, I thought that was great timing. The pulled chicken for me was a stand out, so good! 10 piece chicken wings, cheeseburger with fries, pizza logs and crab cake platter. For our sides we tried the mac and cheese, pasta salad, baked beans, mash potatoes and sweet potatoe fries. Everything was good and would get again, except the crab cakes. These were just not good, very fishy, and burnt. The pizza logs were huge! The Mac and cheese had no seasoning, but was cheesy and after little salt and pepper wasn't to bad. Definitely on my top three favorite BBQ spots! I forgot pictures, but enjoy the video!
