The container was marked with an expiration date about a week prior, but she didn't notice until she had spread it on the bagel. Bleh. -1 star. This review is for the bar at the Howling Rooster. We stopped by on a Saturday night to catch some live music, drinks, and snacks. The new bar space is really cool and fun. I love that it opens up to the large and beautiful outdoor patio so that patio diners can also listen to the music. We ordered wings and fries, and both were really good. The beer was perfectly poured, cold, and served with a smile by our entertaining bartender, Tony. This place continues to improve and grow. It's rare to find a spot this well-rounded. You can have breakfast until 3PM, and it also makes a wonderful place for dinner and drinks. The burger was up-there in cost but it was one of those "you get what you pay for" situations. It. Was. DELICIOUS. Their wings rank up there with some of my favorites in Buffalo. The sauces are fun with just enough variety and creativity to not panic you, and the wings meaty and crispy. I've been a long time fan and patron of the Rooster, and last night brought in a friend who had never been. Their current menu is so on point with so many amazing selections of all genres of food and beverages. The appetizer section offers so much and we chose the Parmesan Brussels sprouts which were absolutely incredible! Best in town! Then we shared the street corn tacos with pulled pork and the Ahi tuna nachos which were also absolutely scrumptious. We had reservations for 9 people. We only waited 20 minutes. But then the problems started. First off we were lead to the back dinning area and crammed into a corner against a wall. The table, should have only been for 7 people at the most. We ordered. Then almost an hour later we were told they were out of steak ( two of our guests ordered steak) they had already run out of French toast and strawberry crepes. One of our guests just cancelled his whole order, he didn't want anything else. Several of us ordered from the menu and asked for the hash browns to be crispy. Also 2 hours now we get our food. ( Yes the waitress offered us anything to drink from the bar,but we were hungry and had a drink already. The food....not impressed.... The adult waffle was a 6" waffle with butter and a slight dust of powder sugar. Not worth the price. The Benedict Arnold was slightly warm, the gravy was super thick. There was a really good atmosphere and I liked our waitress a lot. I ordered their Bloody Mary and was very surprised at all the extra garnishes that came with it. The Howling Rooster became a favorite as soon as we took our first bite. I'm not a huge breakfast person so we usually go out to breakfast maybe once every month or two. We've been to the Howling Rooster three times in the last six weeks. That pretty much says it all. We've been on a busy weekend, a busy weekday (the day before Thanksgiving) and a quiet weekday. All three times the food and service have both been excellent. The standard menu has a ton of choices and the daily specials are a lot of fun. So far, two out of the three times we've gone I've ordered off the specials menu. If you ever find Placek French Toast on the menu, get it. It is the best French toast I've had. Besides the placek french toast we've also tried the regular French toast, pancakes, their bacon, ham and sausage as well as their corned beef hash. We've also had the Benedict Arnold with their homemade biscuits (delicious) and short ribs w/eggs, salsa and guacamole over fried tortillas. All excellent. The home fries are crispy and well seasoned and we love how they offer to add grilled onions, peppers and/or cheese. We both add onions and they make the great home fries even better. What we like most is that they have all the traditional menu items and they do them well. But they also throw in unique and interesting items and also do those well. The staff is friendly and efficient and the decor is cute and cozy. I love the wall paneling! Great place to eat, I know we will be back again and again. Stopped in at The Howling Rooster for brunch this past weekend. Every time I drive by it seems to be packed so I've been wanting to try for a while. Parking lot is a little on the smaller side and was full so we parked on the street. The seating area it's self is very large. They also looked to have a full size bar in the front room with plenty of seating as well as a larger group room in the back. I settled on the Benedict Arnold which was an eggs Benny with sausage gravy on homemade biscuits. The bisquits were enormous and you could tell definitely home made. They were a little on the dry side, so smothered in sausage gravy was much needed. The dish came with home fries which could have been cooked just a little bit longer but were good nonetheless. I also order one pancake with blueberries on the side to spice things up a bit and the blueberries were on point! It was an extra charge of $3 for the pancake itself as well as another $2.50 for blueberries. There was a short stack and large stack option as well but there was no way I was going to eat all of that. Being an add on as a side I thought the price was a little steep for one pancake with additional fruit. Service was great. Our waitress was pleasant and really took care of us making us feel like family. I would like to stop back in for lunch soon! read more

Best new bar in Buffalo! They are back open, with a BANG! The bar looks custom, and the back is all lit up. The flooring and the bathrooms are enviable. The food was so good, and I love that they are always updating the menu, but still seem to keep their signature dishes. My husband and I both started with the potato soup. It was thick and delicious. Stopped in for dinner while in town for work. Surprised we hadn't stumbled upon it before as it was working 10 minutes from our hotel. We searched for a place while driving around and this place came up. Checked the reviews and menu and decided it was perfect. We were going to sit in the main dining room for noticed it was quite loud. We asked to sit at the bar instead where it was much quieter. Plus the had high top tables in the area of the bar. Our server was very pleasant and had a great smile! We had an appetizer of crab cakes, the chopped wedge salad, and a handheld southern fried chicken sandwich. Each of the dishes were delicious! Let's start by saying when I called for reservations they asked for my credit card to hold. There is a new policy for cancellation. O asked what the charge would be they couldn't tell me. I called back a couple days later to get a better explanation of the policy and charge if I don't cancel and again they couldn't answer it was something new that was talked about but the owner wasn't around. the service was lacking start to finish. Too a long time to get drinks ordered and brought to the table. They were out of some of the can alcoholic beverages. The menu was full of variety so hard to narrow it down. We got some apps which were decent. The cauliflower and burger sliders were the best. The special deviled eggs with pulled pork were below average. The waitress recommended the Greek salad and that wasn't great. The green beans that came with the ribeye were slimes and tasted off. The taco shells were ripped and couldn't be picked up. The salmon was very small for the price. Didn't bother with dessert because we were already there a long time. The waitress messed the bill up with another table and they paid for some of our stuff so we had their order on our bill. She couldn't really explain it but said it evened out. She couldn't print a corrected one. There was an extra beer charged but we never got it because the bartender was overwhelmed. Then when we got boxes the waitress asked if she wanted dressing to go for the salad and she brought a little cup of it and then we see a charge on the bill. Don't offer something and not say there will be a charge. I'd say there are many things the restaurant can work on. read more
