There is nothing wrong with the spot but not much right. I came here for a Saturday brunch and was extremely underwhelmed. The ambiance is a simple American flags and roosters, the wait staff is nice. I started by ordering a Bloody Mary which I was told it didn't contain liquor but sake, I would have expected that to be indicated on the menu. We got coffee and water, the coffee came out in very chipped mugs with no offer of real creamer and the water tasted horrible. We ordered the avocado eggs benedict, the potato pancakes and eggs, and 1 regular pancake to share. All of the food came out about 45 minutes later and was room temperature, the potato pancakes were hard and tasteless. Update. I have been here several times since my initial visit. They have done a lot of work and it shows on the interior/exterior. I need to check the evening vibe as I always go for breakfast. The most disappointing visit was the Sunday we couldn't get brunch cocktails because it was too early. Dumb laws. The best visit, just last week. Everything was amazing, even sitting in the bar area at a hightop, I was leery because the menu had a bunch of crossed off items but I guess that's to be expected nowadays. After being seated the service continued to be fantastic. The coffee came fast and was delicious. The specials were sounding awesome so my friend tried the roast beef with cooper cheese omelet. I had a Reuben one because tis the season after all! Well seasoned homefries and homemade thick toast rounded out our meals. This trip we got our breakfast cocktails. We came here this morning for breakfast as a group of 4. The place was kind of empty which I was surprised about. We were seated immediately. Overall the service was friendly and quick. We even asked that the music be turned down as it was really loud for 9am - they were extremely accommodating and we were appreciative. My breakfast was good. 2 eggs, Italian toast, home fries, and bacon. It was 8.99 which was good to me. I think the Italian toast was homemade because it was amazing. The bacon a little too crispy for my taste but I may be picky. The eggs were cooked good. The home fries were ok - I'll probably sub for fries next time. Came to the Rooster as a Christmas gift from my nephew and his wife instead of a gift. I'd much prefer sharing a meal instead of a shirt I have to take back! I've never been there so it was fun! The place was warm and inviting but not cluttered. It was very clean (bathrooms too) and has a good vibe. Our waitress was friendly and brought drinks. I only wished when I ordered a Bloody Mary she would have told me about the multiple kinds they offered. There was a number of varieties. I had the Arctic Char which was delicious but a little small. The accompanying snow peas were perfectly sautéed and the quinoa was also tasty. Pops had the Osso Bucco which he raved about and came over mashed potatoes. Mikes steak sandwich special looked great as did Dees Caesar salad. We enjoyed a good cup of coffee and split a pumpkin cheesecake but the frozen lemon cream cake was the real winner. They offer a brunch with many options and I definitely want to go back for that. We had sat in the back, which was nice but, there is also a front room with a bar and a killer patio for the summer. Full disclosure we went on a Sunday Monday so they were steadily busy. Check in was odd. Hostess was super busy but didn't write anyone's name down. But we were seated within 15 minutes. Menu had a large variety but they were out of diet soda. Took server quite a while to come by. Took our drink order and we were ready to order but she said she had to come back. Food was delivered HOT which I know w breakfast can be challenging. But once she dropped our food she never checked on us. Tried to get her attention several times but no luck. Upon walking in, The Howling Rooster made me feel slightly out of place; its vibe was more of a rock pub/restaurant than that of a cafe/breakfast place. There was even an advertisement for live music for Thursday and Saturday nights. For a split second as I glanced around the spacious dining area, I wondered if for once other reviewers had led me wrong. Then the hostess asked if I wanted a table and led me through the many tables for four - most with regular chairs - to one of the ones with high seats lining the back wall. It was early yet for brunch time. My server was there before I could sit down and greeted me cheerfully. She asked if I wanted a mimosa. This took me aback. I stammered. She laughed and repeated her question without being condescending about it. When I finally understood what she was asking, I laughed too, and told her no, but I would like coffee and water. The breakfast menu is full of your standard items like variations of scrambled eggs, bacon/ham, and toast, and variations of omelet, but it also has some interesting things like avocado toast, crepe, french toast, and crab cake egg benedict (called "crabby benny"). I ordered myself "fun guy omelet", which is an omelet with four different types off mushrooms and swiss cheese, with a side of toast and home fries. Except since I love corned beef hash and was in the mood for it, I asked for some and for them to hold the home fries. No problem. Coffee was served in no time, and breakfast soon followed. The coffee was hot and pleasantly good, decently strong to wake me up and smooth with no acid aftertaste. My omelet was also good; while the omelet was not the fluffiest ever, it was tasty and well cooked without being rubbery, and the swiss cheese had melted enough to be on the goey side. There was enough cheese there to compliment the eggs and mushrooms without overpowering either. The corned beef hash had been crisped on one side and didn't taste overly greasy. Overall, it was a good breakfast. The portion size was generous, enough to fill you up, but not too generous to the point of making one feel gluttonous or wasteful. The server remained friendly and non-intrusive throughout my meal, stopping by just enough times to make sure that there was nothing more I needed. Roo-Ben (breakfast omelet made with traditional Rueben ingredients) was a pleasant surprise as my partner was unsure about the sauerkraut/egg combo, but he said it was delicious! This time it was only 1/3 full and still couldn't hear the person across from me. There is nothing soft in here to absorb any sound except a sack hanging on the ceiling. The decorations are cute though, all rustic roosters. No drink menu today, maybe it's a Sunday thing or only after a certain time? French toast was on the dry side and the broccoli cheese omelette was overly cheesy with thick yellow American cheese. Cheddar would have been nicer. Half the menu is crossed off in sharpie. It's pretty hard to find a brunch spot open on Mondays so that's a bonus right there- Bloody Mary's were delicious and the food was good too. I got the Crab Cake Benedict and it was pretty good. I was expecting more of a crab cake than a fried crab cake that looked like it came out of the freezer section but it was still really tasty. The price of my crab cakes on the bill didn't match the price on the menu and it didn't make much of a difference to me but people like to know what they are paying without any surprises. Avocado toast at the table next to us looked really good. I'll probably try that next time. Outdoor patio was awesome but the service was a little slow. There were some interesting sounding things on the menu and I would probably come back and try some of them. We ordered one scrambled egg for my son and he loved it. Sorry to say this but they have gone downhill since pre-Covid. If you're looking for a good breakfast place, unfortunately this isn't the place anymore and I used to love it here. Came here for breakfast today with my parents, husband and kids and it was an unorganized mess from the time we walked in. The hostess couldn't remember how many people we had, couldn't find menus and was sharing how nothing is where it supposed to be to us (customers). We finally got seated after I suggested a table for us, and then we waited about 15 minutes for someone to even come over to greet us. We had to also ask twice for a booster seat for my daughter and when you have young kids, time is already limited so this was already down a couple stars. Once our waitress came over we realized there weren't enough place settings, no creamer on the table and when ordering our beverages learn that not only did they only have whole milk as a "regular" milk option, they also had no alternatives to dairy milk- which in basically 2023 is wild to me. We browsed the menu, and somehow they don't serve waffles which baffled us, but then I spotted Avocado Toast on a section of the menu that was boxed off and titled "House Favorites". I was excited and for $13.00 figured it had to be pretty substantial and well done. No. NO. Do not waste your money. First, not real avocado- just some type of guacamole spread from a container I'm assumingC about two cherry tomatoes cut in half for two slices and while the bread looked like thick multigrain bread, it was as soggy as could be. Honestly, go anywhere else for this. Toasted is EXPONENTIALLY higher quality, and quantity of what's on their avocado toast and they charge $9.00, so HR having the nerve to charge $12.99 for that is absolutely ridiculous. I also order one slice of the French toast and also don't waste your money on that either. My father ordered a full stack and also said his was subpar. My mother enjoyed her blueberry pancakes but my toddler hated them and spit them out and she LOVES pancakes. I tried them and yea, that's a no either. Husband got eggs Benedict, the egg was fully cooked and he said he only finished it because he was starving. Also, they don't offer the option of real maple syrup and which also sucked. First place we have been to in a while that didn't offer it for an up charge that we would have GLADLY paid. Drink wise the only thing impressive was their offering of teas- coffee was subpar, orange juice was awful. I honestly RARELY leave bad reviews, but things are so expensive these days and when you pay what they are charging, you expect to at least enjoy your meal and the service. It's a shame because they used to be much better. I think they focused too much on renovations and decided to cut costs on quality of their food. I'm always looking for new breakfasts spots to explore, other than the standard chain restaurants. The Howling Rooster was only a mile away from where we were running errands so they were the winner this week. The menu has a really good variety of savory and sweet breakfast items. They are all priced reasonably as well. I had the Rio Grande breakfast. This breakfast bowl is stacked with potatoes , peppers, onions, bacon and ham. Smothered in cheddar cheese and topped with sour cream and salsa. Oh! It also came with a side of toast. This breakfast was huge! I could only eat maybe a third of it. The potatoes were nice and crispy and had a good seasoning to them. My only issue was the salsa, instead of a homemade salsa the dish was smothered in your bland jarred salsa. Adding a fresh salsa would of brought this dish to a new level. My husband had the Arnold: breakfast biscuit, fresh sausage , potatoes smothered in sausage gravy. He was very pleased and could not stop eating. The menu stated their pancakes were made from scratch and a specialty, so I had to try it! I ordered a single chocolate pancake expecting to be blown away. Sadly the pancake was very bland, and the only flavor was really the chocolate chips I added. I would definitely go back again and try their other menu items, Like their crepes or the specialty stuffed French toast! read more

Food, staff and owner are amazing! We went here on my moms birthday for breakfast as a new place to try. They take reservations which was great because it was packed when we arrived. Our waitress was super nice and helpful with the food and drink menu. *They do serve alcohol!* On the specials menus we tried the Nuts and Bolts which was breakfast meatloaf with tater tots and eggs. Delicious! We also got the Benedict Arnold which was homemade biscuits with sausage patties, sausage gravy, poached eggs and home fries. I was obsessed but the biscuits were still doughy. The staff immediately took it back to the kitchen, apologized and gave me a new one! I would highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast to dinner. They also do fish fries on Fridays. I heard a lot of good things about this place from Yelp and friends too. So I went there yesterday. It's a very cosy and homely place with a cute interior. We ordered an omlet and a garden skillet plus coffee. Good service added with nice coffee and yummy food makes this place a brilliant breakfast spot. A hearty meal is what you get. They have nice specials too. I wouldn't go here every time I went out for breakfast because homely , cosy ambience isn't something I'm looking fOr everyday. However, if I want to read a book quietly or just have a friendly chat with a buddy, it is a 10 min walk from my place, and on a beautiful day adds to the perfect morning. The Howling Rooster succeeds in creating a really homey breakfast atmosphere. A lot of attention to detail went into the design here. Little roosters on every table, cute little slogans to play of the "Rooster" theme, a chalkboard front and center with specials; it all comes together to make sitting and dining here very pleasant. I've been here twice and had the breakfast skillet both times and have been pleased. Worth noting that their menu is ambitious. Eggs, crepes, potato pancakes -- it's all part of it. I haven't ventured much outside the skillet both times, but I'm curious to see how well they can do crepes. Worth noting, that we drove 20 minutes to come back here after our first experience, despite living around the corner from Trattoria Aroma and other fine brunch spots. The service has always been friendly and prompt. We got here around 12:45p on a Sunday and had to wait for about five minutes for a table so I imagine around noon time there may have been a longer wait. I ordered their Rio Skillet, which was plated beautifully and served with salsa and sour cream. It came with a side of toast. My only complaint was that I asked for my home fries to be extra crispy, but they didn't come out very crispy at all. Still appetizing, although it could have used more seasoning. After adding ketchup, sour cream, salsa and hot sauce though --- the food blended itself into a hodgepodge of condiments that I'm particularly fond of. So hey, it's a nice place for brunch, breakfast and perhaps lunch. I know they serve soup and such --- I've yet to try their lunch fare though. If you're looking for a new, quaint brunch spot to explore, Howling Rooster Cafe is worth a visit. read more

I can't wait to take my family here and it's a great place to meet friends for Bloody Marys or a variety of mimosas-orange, strawberry, cranberry. It can be pretty busy on the weekends but they do pretty good moving people through without making you feel rushed. Even though a few reviews mentioned bad service I still wanted to try this place since all of the food pics looked amazing. I'm glad I did because the food WAS amazing! Lots of menu choices and specials to choose from. As far as the bad service reviews go, I saw the complete opposite this morning. Everyone who walked in got greeted and seated immediately and our waitress was quick to get us coffee and take our order. Our food came out so quick. SO quick. I ordered the Italian omelet which was one of today's specials but she told me that it will be added to the menu soon. The omelet was topped with chopped tomatoes and stuffed with diced salami and pepperoni in enough mozzarella cheese to pull at each bite. Served with home fries and toast, it filled me up. My boyfriend got the biscuit with [a generous serving of] gravy with a side of scrambled eggs. Seriously the biggest biscuit I've ever seen! What I liked the best about the Howling Rooster is how the waitress described the specials to us, with imagery and enthusiasm it convinced me to try something I normally wouldn't have ordered.
