From a glance, the food may look ordinary, but once you start seeing the dishes come out, you notice that there is a flair with this place. It starts with the ingredients, they use, the finest ingredients, and you can taste the difference. I ordered the Mexican omelette, sub veggie sausage, side of avocado, one chocolate chip pancake with New York maple syrup. The omelette was light and airy and had tons of pieces of the veggie sausage, which were flavorful. There was also pico de gallo in it and cheese, which made for a perfect bite. The potato hash that comes with the omelette was nice, crispy potatoes that had the char at the bottom. The pancakes were a star, crispy golden outside, with a soft pillowy inside, and made for such a nice bite. Stopped in after a concert with a group of 10 on a Thursday night. The place was packed, but the online waitlist made it easy to track our spot, and we were seated in about 32 minutes. Because of our size and the small dining room, we were split between a couple of booths, which actually made sense. The food was excellent--French toast, biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash, breakfast wrap, and several omelets, all with great reviews from our group. There was a minor mix-up with the check, but the staff quickly fixed it and were very friendly about it. Great food, great service, and definitely worth the wait. We'd happily go back! read more

I finally got the chance to check out Swan Street Diner. It is one of the few places in Buffalo where you can get vegan items for breakfast. Overall I enjoyed my experience and look forward to checking them out again soon. The food is delicious. One of my favorite parts about the experience is definitely the ambiance of the diner. So we went back today for lunch. My wife and I both had burgers and while good, they had a "different" taste. I thought it was just me but she mentioned it also. Not a spoiled taste, just different. If it was an herb mix, I didn't recognize it. My wife put it best when she said "I guess it was good". As I said good but different. The corned beef hash at breakfast is delicious. I wanted a side (the serve breakfast all day). At lunch... you could tell it had been on the grill for a while. A good bit of the hash was overdone. The corned beef had some good bites but some were small pieces and some were crunchy. Probably better to get this earlier in the day. My first cup of coffee was very good and fresh. The refill was undrinkable. I even tried milk which I don't use (and said I didn't want but received anyway) and it didn't help. I have to take a star away from my previous review as a result. I'll still go back at least one more time but I won't be as psyched as I was today. Service today was friendly but a little lacking. read more

Came here as my one dining experience in Buffalo on the morning I had to fly out. Can safely say it was great, don't let the long queue deter you, we got in in less time than estimated! The set up is super cool in a train car and the food was awesome. Must get the homemade donuts and make sure to check the flavor of the day! This may be the best diner in all of Buffalo. Not sugarcoating it. There is real magic when you can find a great little spot for breakfast and lunch. I met up here for lunch with a friend, and figured breakfast was still on my mind. I ended up getting the eggs, toast, homefries and sausage. You can tell a lot about a place on how they prepare a simple breakfast. Swan Street hits it out of the park. Everything was prepared right and had great flavor. Including the bread. The sourdough wasn't bland or plain, it was great! The eggs, homefries, and sausage all tasted great, and not like they had been sitting in warmers. Went at 8:30 on a Sunday, there was a 15 min wait for 2, but we were able to immediately sit at the bar. It is a small place so it's a bit loud and there is music playing too. The place is very cute as it gives the diner feel. It did not take long at all to receive our food, maybe 10 mins. I got the French toast, which is made from the placezek bread so it is thicker and has the coating on the crust. When I got it they had put a little syrup on top with the butter, I'm not a fan of a lot of syrup so next time I would ask for them not to put it on. read more

I got a build your own omelette, perfectly solid but the potatoes were really tasty. Raspberry pancake so good, crispy edges like at Cracker Barrel. The biscuit was so so good, fluffy and huge, with homemade jam that was absolutely delicious. Companion got the tacos, could've had more cheese they said but still enjoyed it. The other had a basic breakfast, especially liked the sausage. Vibe in here is absolutely top notch, old school diner feel and the staff is so friendly and nice. But the service this time was awkward. I've never had a waitress before walk past tables and not look over like she was ignoring everything around here. Finally made it here after tons of great feedback from family and friends. It did not disappoint. First there is tons of parking!!! Love that. We went with OJ, they were good and a nice size pour. They do offer beer and wine options as well. For our meals I got the BBQ meatloaf sandwich. When I think diner my mind always goes to meatloaf, which I love. Thank God it was on the menu and it was delicious. Big piece of meatloaf covered in a bourbon BBQ sauce, onion straws and bacon in between sourdough bread! The meatloaf was very tasty, the sourdough was also soft and tasty. My friend got the fried chicken sandwhich, which he loved as well. The sandwhich comes with chips, but you do have option for fries, sweet potatoe fries, steamed veggies or upgrade for a garden salad. I went with the sweet potatoe fries, they were good, didn't get a side of dipping honey, not sure if I needed to ask or not. My friend went with regular fries. I have been here a few times and I always order the French Toast which is delicious with butter and syrup. The wait on the weekend is almost always at least 45 minutes and no where inside to sit and wait. The service is always friendly and great. So if you need smaller chunks beware. Coffee was good and the server kept it filled. Overall, good experience, I enjoyed the scenery, and I look forward to visiting again. Edited: updated to 4 stars. I had heard good things about the Swan Street Diner... so we swooped in today to check it out. And guess what? All the good things were true... had an excellent lunch here!! Food was very good... Ambiance is really cool as the restaurant is actually a diner car from the late 1930s! The restaurant's website tells a very interesting tale of the history of the diner car. Check it out! We got there at about 11:45 on a Saturday and only had to wait for about ten minutes. The place got busier as we enjoyed our meal and there was a pretty full waiting area when we left. A couple of things of note... the acoustics are not so good so we found it kind of loud inside. But I suppose that is part of the experience of being transported back in time to a busy1930's diner. Also, I have always been a tomato juice fan when having a diner breakfast, but I did not see that on the menu. They did have oj and grapefruit juice as well as mimosas.
