2 Eggs and Hash Browns
Angie B.

Came for breakfast for a book club meeting and ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast which came with two eggs, hashbrowns, single pancake, and the chicken fried steak. Best chicken fried steak in town! Perfectly fried and seasoned! The hashbtowns were perfectly crispy and eggs cooked to perfection. The pancake was buttery, thick, and tasted delicious. Waitresses were incredibly patient as our party had no shows and kept refilling our coffee's. Can't wait to come back and try other items although I believe I will probably just order the chicken fried steak!

Don't come for me guys. Knotty Pine was my favorite for years. However the food is not what it once was and I've had this conversation with several previous regulars. Was there a big change to the kitchen staff over the past year or so? Hopefully it can get back to what it once was. We need to protect this restaurant and keep it around for years to come.

Eggs Benedict with Ham

Service into the restaurant was kind and full of greetings and smiles from everyone. Very cozy environment. As you can see from the pictures it is very cozy and warm; like a cabin you might stay at. I ordered Eggs Benedict. Perfect hollandaise for the Benedict's. Potatoes were crispy. My husband had the hot link breakfast with Lonnie potatoes. He loved SPICY. It was heaven. We shared the French Toast. Omgoodness, lots of food. Great coffee. The seating is tables and booths. Space is a bit tight, but everyone is focused on their family and enjoying their space. I loved this place. It is definitely a monthly keeper to our repertoire of favorites. I can imagine their lunch. Looking forward to returning! If you're in the area, come by and give them a try. You won't regret the experience.

Smaller size of the potato and eggs, 3 French toast, and biscuits and gravy

If you're considering going here, DONT HESITATE!!! The food, service, portion sizes, and atmosphere was perfect!!! My fiancee and I got French toast, a biscuit and gravy, potato's and eggs and everything came in such a good size! Not only that but it was delicious. We're definitely coming back!

Good food as usual. We decided to go here for lunch and it was pretty good for what we got. My wife ordered their egg, bacon, and biscuits with gravy for breakfast and I got their cat fish breakfast meal with bacon (catfish was burnt to a crisp). Just good ol' fashioned breakfast with some great coffee. Service was excellent, never had an empty glass. Loud atmosphere as well, everyone was talking really loud to each other. We had to use earplugs while we ate, thank God we had some.

I CANT GET OVER HOW AMAZING THIS PLACE IS. Now this place is TRULY A GEM IN BAKERSFIELD. I can't reccomend this place enough if you have never had their Breakfast or Lunch. This place is the defention of flavortown and every penny spent here is absulotely worth it. Stopped by for brunch on a Friday with my wife where I got breakfast and she got lunch around 1pm. They are open till 3pm FYI. I got myself the Denver omlete with Lonnie's hashbrowns and it was a MASSIVE portion of food considering the price. I honestly couldn't finish my plate, too much!!! My meal was a 10/10, just phenomenal. My wife went with a grilled Tereyaki Chicken Sandiwch and she swears it's the best chicken Sandwich in town lol. Overall, do your life a favor and come here. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. I've been coming to Knotty Pine since 2013 and I will confine to come for the rest of my life. Thanks Knotty Pine for all the amazing food over the years. Till next time!

Two egg breakfast with sausage

I was in town for work and was looking for a nice breakfast place before I flew out. I came across this cute place on Yelp, read the reviews, and decided to give it a try. This was a great choice! When I arrived there was a wait, and the parking lot was full, but because it was just myself I was able to walk in and get seated immediately at the bar by the nicest host. I ordered the two egg breakfast with sausage and I chose breakfast potatoes and a biscuit with gravy. This was So much food, but everything was delicious. To start off the breakfast potatoes were awesome. They had the perfect texture, perfectly seasoned and there were a lot of them. The sausage was also fantastic, it was perfectly season and I think it may be made in house but I'm not sure. Either way it was very good. My eggs were perfectly cooked and my biscuit was so flaky. What an amazing breakfast. I can't believe I got all of this for $14.61 before tip. If you are in town, please give this cute place a try. It is so worth it

Steak and Eggs, over Medium. Ribeye Steak, cooked Medium Well. Substitute fresh fruit for biscuits & gravy, AND a Perfect Pancake.....DRUMROLL....Under $20 plus tax......enough for 2 people, or 1/2 of EVERYTHING to go! Felix, one of the kitchen workers, and possible manager, was friendly, when he came out for a break. He took time to engage in a conversation with this old man.....me. Experience Cope's Knotty Pine, on the North Edge of Oildale...where Merle Haggard lived in a boxcar that his dad fixed it up real nice. You can see it at the historic and iconic Kern County Museum. Right down Chester, just a few minutes away!

Chicken and waffles
Karen G.

The chicken and waffles were ok. Reason being is that the waffle itself was a little soggy and the chicken had very little flavor. The service was quick and friendly, the waitresses were attentive. The interior was giving country with all the wood furniture.

I can't believe this is my first time here. I've been hearing about Copes for years. It is a quaint rustic coffee shop, serving breakfast & lunch. The staff is prompt & friendly even though they are very busy. They have a quite extensive menu of breakfast & lunch items. Breakfast is served all day. Their lunch menu looks excellent as well. I'll be back soon to try it out. What I like is that they offer many individual items if you don't have a big appetite. I order a biscuit with gravy and a side of sausage. The biscuit was cloud fluffy, the gravy was rich and peppery. The sausage was moist & spicy. The servings are generous. If you want delicious down home cooking this is the place to come.

Janie J.

Food is ok but dry, service was horrible!! No drink refills, literally dropped the food and left. We had to find someone to get the check to leave. Other servers walked by and just glanced at us and failed to tip off drinks or even offer a "hey we are busy can I help" . Absolutely not worth the time , go somewhere else.

Brock's Smackin' Hot Turkey Sandwich, for onion rings
Aron N.

Given the reviews, my expectations were high. The food is okay. It's a typical diner. Was disappointed with my turkey sandwich as it was a bit soggy and the turkey was very dry and stringy. The country potatoes were soggy too. I think the traditional breakfast items are the way to go for this place.

If you come on the weekend, be prepared for a little bit of Wait typically under 30 minutes, but the food makes it worth it once it arrives

She comes from LA so we meet halfway. She is so nice and so friendly. She really won my heart! This is the second time we meet in Bakersfield. I had this place saved for a while now so I was excited for the visit there. We got there and they sat us almost right away. They have a cute lobby before the entrance to the restaurant. There is an old telephone booth and Christmas decorations. Johnny brought us the menu and it was the lunch menu. I saw on line that they had some great food for breakfast and Te-see asked him about it. He told us they were still making breakfast so I got happy. I ordered a coffee with cream and he brought it in a little tray with the creamer on the side. The table was a little wobbly and the coffee spilled all over the tray. Luckily Te-see got that fixed with a sugar packet. Jonny brought me another tray with coffee and cream. Almost everything was plant base, some egg and chicken but definitely no red meat. Unless I didn't see it. So I ordered the chilaquiles rojos and my daughter the Happy-go-Lucky-bowl. Te-see got the torta española and slew got a pancake to shared. All the food came very fancy well presented. Almost like magazine perfect. I loved them. We were taking videos and pictures as we should like a truly Yelpers that we are. Haha! The food was so tasty and flavorful. I loved my chilaquiles. They were perfect for my palate. They were crunchy and still with the flavor of the sauce. So delicious. They came with a little bowl of beans from the olla. (Freshly cooked) Te-see mention that her torta española was great as well. It came with some green salad. And it did really look so good. My daughter got the Happy-go-lucky-bowl. I was surprised she liked it. It was so beautiful presented. Sorry I already mention that. But yes it was pretty. There was berries melon, pineapple. She said it was really good and filling. She couldn't finish it. The pancake we order to share was so healthy made with all the good grains like chia, hemp seed, brown rice, oat flour. So good. It had some bananas and berries on top. Really delicious. I want to go back again just writing about it. I may go back and order different things from the menu. The bathrooms are very clean. Also maybe restaurant is part of the hotel

The eggs were well poached, nice and runny yolk. The meat portion was good, it was a touch salty. Muffin was toasted well and the hash browns were good. The hollandaise sauce was a touch heavy on the lemon but I still enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly when I entered as well so the service was good. The setback for me was the price tag, it was almost $18 for just the benedict with hash brown, no drink or anything else. It's a bit high, I think for the quality and taste if it were a few bucks cheaper I'd give pretty high praise. Still, it was a pretty good experience and I'll probably give it another shot down the road.

SMITTENS STAPLE IS THEIR ABILITY TO MISS THE FLAVOR IN EVER SINGLE DISH…read more Update: coming back after some palate development... smitten is one of the most tasteless restaurants in town. Their hype was definitely due to the 'aesthetic'. Nothing is really outstanding to me. The drinks are such a let down, the coffee is borderline yuck.. do not recommend. Everything is quite unmemorable. Service is whatever, sometimes mid, sometimes bad. Nothing outstanding. Ambiance.... well... this one has been replicated one too many times. The food is heavily missing flavor, the hummus is disgusting. I can't believe they call that thing hummus, it's an insult to actual dish.. it's almost like it was trying to imitate the real dish, but failed terribly in even attempting to. Their pizza tasted like play-doh and looked very pale. Smitten is at least consistent with one thing, which is their staple: no flavor. One of the breaking points for me was being served food that had someone's HAIR. The restaurant is very expensive for the poor experience they have to offer. I stopped recommending them a long time ago.
