Being Bolivian I was in shear excitement to find food from back home. Upon trying the initial appetizer of "salteñas" I knew it would be a bad experience.  Service was not fast not slow. When our appetizer arrived it was steaming hot (not in spicy) and it tasted like it had been sitting under the heat lamp all day.  Needless to say the rest of the meal was not pleasant at all. We came to this place because we wanted to sit on the balcony overlooking Pike's Place Market. I thought that the food was mediocre for the price. The Sangria was pretty good. The prices were very expensive for the quality of food and service. They got our drink orders wrong twice, so we ended up paying even more at the end. We ate here a few weeks ago because other nearby restaurants were too packed on a Saturday afternoon. Nice view of the market and okay drinks... The food was pretty terrible, my partner wouldn't even eat the ceviche she ordered because it smelled fishy (bad sign). I got the pork dish and it reminded me of the cheap TV dinners that I ate in college. I wouldn't have cared enough to leave a rating but charging $70 for the quality we got was absurd! Not sure what all the other reviewers are talking about. This food is authentic and the view from the patio over the bay, is incredible. The ingredients are simple and so fresh. I feel that two stars is extremely generous, but the view of pike place from the balcony is quite nice. I would recommend going for a glass of wine on the balcony, but don't order the food. The service is pretty dreadful, so be prepared to wait quite some time even when it's not busy. As I sit here now, the girl at the table next to me ordered three different things only to be told they were out before she settled on the paella. I feel terrible that I didn't jump in to warn her about what she was getting. This is without question the worst food I've had from a restaurant. Everywhere in pike place is packed, so I was confused why this place with a lovely balcony wasn't packed. I understand now. Side note, if you think you're playing it safe by ordering a salad, think again. You'd be better off ordering a bottle of olive oil with a side of lettuce. read more

We found this place in 2019 and were lured in seeing someone making homemade "empanadas", they are called Saltenas. We are here again and had to return. The food is fantastic. It's not a well known place and you should go before everyone finds out how good it is! This time the Saltenas weren't ready yet so decided to have drinks, shrimp ceviche and huminta which were amazing. Everything is so fresh. We sat visiting with a friend and eventually the Saltenas were done and SO worth the wait! Don't let it fool you that it's not packed with people like all the other more famous places, you won't be disappointed. read more

My first impression was, "Crazy night in Seattle, let's recover with a good meal." My friend and I traveled for a 3-day stay in Seattle, Washington from Southern California. We wanted to make it spontaneous and ended up staying at a hostel for the couple of nights that we were there. We stumbled upon Copacabana Cafe when we looked up from Pike Place and saw people dining on the rooftop. It looked casual, comfortable, fun, and interesting so we found our way around the building and followed the signs up the stairs to the restaurant. It's a small restaurant, with a great view of the Pike Marketplace. It was an interesting night because we knew absolutely nothing about the items on the menu. But we actually met a group of friendly travelers from all over Spain and they picked out a couple items for us. I wish I remembered the name of each dish but one was a salad with some time of shredded beef on it and the other was like a fried veggie/meat/pasta combination that was sweet and tangy. I remembered the prices were decent for the food, but worth it for a sunset view of pike place. The lasting impression? "Small little restaurant. We ended up dining at the same table and that was the end of a good night. When a bunch of travelers got together, shared stories, and enjoyed a good meal!" read more

I went with the picante de pollo expecting something spicy what I got was boiled chicken breast with a tomato, onion and pea sauce nothing spicy at all and some rice not sure what kind of rice it was but it was pretty good. The salad that came with it was rather tasty I loved the dressing and the bread was warm and fresh as well but the chicken not so good. Even though the place was crowded our service was good, water glass and ice tea never went empty, order was taken and food delivered in a reasonable amount of time. Plus it really wouldn't have bothered me too much because of the great view and wonderful weather. Copacabana gets three stars just for the location and the really unique balcony overlooking Pike Place Market. Other than that, there is nothing too amazing about this place. They have some tasty, refreshing drinks, but they are on the expensive end. They also serve several beers, including your typical Mexican imports. Save your money. This place has a GREAT view! Now on to everything else. The food was extremely lack luster and very pricey. I ordered the sangria, which was like a pricey fruit juice. My companion ordered the paella. The rice was mushy, and the meats were lacking. My dish was ok, but still not all that great. We really enjoyed looking out on the water, but we should have not ordered food. When my companion made a comment about the status of his crappy paella, the waitress stared at him like he was speaking sin. When he then brough up the lack of actual meat in his dish, she started giving him the "And what do you want me to do about it look". We weren't asking for a free meal, he was just trying to let her know the food was REALLY sub par. It finally ended with a, "I just thought you should let your manager know, and we will not be coming back." She then gave another "You uncultured fool" look and walked off. It's not what you eat. It's where you eat. That should be the motto of Copacabana. The view is great- overlooking the hustle and bustle of Pike Place Market. The only comparable view is Pike Place Bar and Grill, although PPBG does not have a deck. The food is pretty average, although I only ordered appetizers. We ended up coming here to watch the sunset, due to crowds at Pink Door and Matt's. Unfortunately they had just run out of the paella. We opted for the prawns and salmon, both of which I'd say were good both in taste and in value. Maybe it was due to it being late on a tuesday, but the service seemed a little off. first I was totally glad to find a "Bolivian" restaurant here. So I run into it looking some home goodness...All personnel is mexican (doh!) and only the owners are from La Paz (my hometown). Of course they were not there. I inspect the menu and found what I expected: SALTEÑAS. Oh how joyful I was to read that. For me this is a unique snack. So I ordered 2 to go. The disappointing part was to read a mix of peruvian, and other latino dishes. WTH????? we have such a large variety of dishes and they decided to include peruvian Aji de gallina??? Where is a Chairo? a Chicharron? a Plato Paceño????? Anyhow. The salteñas turned out to be ok. If you do come to Bolivia, make sure to try them...you'll order more than 2. read more

HUGE tourist trap! The location is great, right above the market but that's the only thing really going for this place. We each ordered a salad and a margarita and our bill was over $50. The salads were ok but were swimming in dressing. You better eat fast or you are going to have soggy, wilted lettuce. The margaritas were very sweet with no tequila (that I could taste). Looking for a casual, patio dinner, not too pricey, and this was perfect. Quaint patio w/ flowers overlooking Pike Place, and all the roof top flower beds. The food was very tasty, too. Wow.. Whats with all the bogus reviews on this place. Yeah its right in the market, but just because a place has a great location doesn't mean its a tourist trap. My definition of tourist trap is a place that crams as many people in the door as possible with a gimmick and then serves boring run of the mill, bland food. The food at this place is very specific to a region of south america, and way off the culinary beaten path. My fiancée who was born and lived in Peru come here for food that reminds her of home. The restaurant actually claims to be Bolivian, but they have some dishes on the menu that are clearly Peruvian and served in uniquely Peruvian fashion. Although dishes here like the lomo saltado are really good, I actually like the salads best, because they are nothing like the salads that you get at typical american restraints. They are VERY fresh and VERY light. They come with huge slices of fresh veggies, like cucumber, avacado and perfectly ripe tomato. The produce on your plate looks like produce does on TV right before they cut into it with a knife, all dripping wet. There is one particular chicken salad on the menu, the name escapes me but its served with cold shredded chicken and its awesome, very unique. The magaritas are great, strong and small, European style, not served in a pint glass with assloads of sour mix like at a americanized mexican joint. Sangria is good, and they have INCA cola which is a Peruvian favorite. Great place to come to have a beer out on the balcony and have some great south american cuisine. Try the Lomo, its pan fried asada style steak with sauteed onions, peppars and spices served with white rice. Its tough not to like. Oh yeah.. Service is good when its slow and can lag a bit when its jam packed, but thats excusable, on a nice day there are way to many people here! read more

I would have to agree with most of the reviews on here about the service, or should I say wait time more like it. We were seated right away and the view was beautiful. We only had drinks because we just had eaten crab from the market below but the food I must say looked and smelled amazing. I would love to go back and try it some time. Everyone around us seemed like they were enjoying their food. If I was not so full I would have ordered something. My mojito was really good. Our only problem was when we wanted to leave we had to get up and track down our waitress because we had to get back to our car where the over priced parking was about to expire. Solid 3.5 stars! Great location in the middle of pike place, wished it was warm/summer time to make use of their balcony! The place itself is small but charming. Brightly lit and not too crowded considering the space. The tiny kitchen is completely open --so it fun to watch them make your meal! Service was quick, A little apathetic perhaps. The menu is small but interesting -- and all sorts of yummy cocktails to be had! I stayed sober and completely LOVED on my Inca Cola. I was drooling over their sangria's though. Boy had the steak sandwich (with a fried egg on top! yum!) and I had this saucy lamb dish with so-so rice & black beans. Pretty tasty when you mixed it all together. With a name like Copacabana Bolivian Cafe , you would expect something... what is it.. oh yes. Food from Latin America. During an early morning trek around Pike Place one final time during our trip we scoured a place attempting to find a restaurant for breakfast that would not involve pancakes and scrambled eggs, and what a mistake it was for us to think that Bolivian food could have been mistaken for a bad Denny's. When we arrived there was only one other group of people there, a family of four that seemed quite comfortable. It was so deserted that we felt obligated to stay when the waiters/owners spotted and seated us. The food was mediocre (and overpriced for what it was)- hard scrambled eggs with a scraggly piece of bacon, and the service was bad - which seemed interesting since the place was so dead and there were 6 of them standing less than two feet away from us in this awkwardly shaped room. And yet we were still met wiih bad service. The terrace would have been a nice option - had they let us sit out there. But they didn't. And the food would have been more impressive if the containers of mass-purchased cinnamon rolls from Costco weren't sitting out next to me (which they reheated and claimed were "homemade"). read more

My co-workers raved about this place, so when they proposed it for "team fun" last month, I was eager to experience it for myself. The paella they said, was out of this world. Our group of 7 people went about 11:30am and our group was too big to fit outside, so we went in. The service was a bit slow the whole time, but they eventually brought us water and menus. We ordered two appetizers, some kind of cheesy corn cake (which was fantastic) and I forget what the other was...a meat pie? They were good. Three people ordered the paella, as they love it. However, I wasn't feeling the ten kinds of meat for lunch that day, so I ordered the black bean soup. It was more like black bean mush -- and I thought "with cheese" meant sprinkled on top, but no. It means random slice of cheddar in the soup! Too weird. And I think there was a piece of chorizo in there too. Kind of a weird surprise -- I hate to think what a vegetarian might have done. I just ate it. Another girl ordered a chicken dish, but it was a pile of noodles and veggies and one tiny piece of chicken....? I had a bite of some paella -- just the saffron rice, which was really flavorful and good. Copacabana is a little overpriced for what you get, but it's not a bad place at all. We dropped in on a whim for lunch. The food was great, the staff was friendly, and the paella was excellent. (As was the sangria.) The windows and patio have a great view of Pike Place Market and the seaport. I will say that the prices were higher than we would normally pay for lunch, but the food was worth it. read more

Da bomb!!! This review was started in August after we spent the day in Seattle and I thought I finished it. I didn't so here it is a little late. Margarita on the rocks hit the spot twice;) we had a great lunch. Even the salad as simple as it is has a great dressing that is full of flavor. Husband had the paella- loved it. Trying to decide on a restaurant near Pike's is nearly impossible. I chose this place because I enjoy trying new things and I've never had Bolivian food before. The second story view of the marketplace and the waterfront was really pretty but that was probably the highlight of the whole evening. I ordered the sangria which was good, but not the best I've ever had. And for $8 a pop, not worth it imo. The house salad had mostly lettuce, one piece of cucumber, and a very oily, not that great, italian dressing. The bread was cold, as was the butter so we didn't even touch that. For my entree I had the paella and was utterly disappointed when it came out with tiny, sparing pieces of clams and mussels, and what looked like frozen pieces of bay shrimp. It seemed incorrectly prepared. It was almost risotto-ish. I thought it was suppose to be more dry, like spanish rice. They gave me a green spicy salsa that slightly improved the dish (probably what kept me from giving them a 1 star). My friend had some chicken dish that she said was bland even though it was a tomatoey sauce. Service was 3 stars. They did their job, but I just didn't get a warm, friendly vibe from them. Got some pretty pictures. If I ever go back, it will only be for drinks so that I can take advantage of the view. read more

Oh Copacabana, you could be so so so much more. And so easily... You have THE best location in Seattle in my opinion. Great views of the water, mountains, sunset, looking over the pike place market, people watching, outdoor and indoor seating. But your food is so sub-par. Please invest the money to hire someone to look at your menu/ingredients/presentation. With a revamp of your menu and some new exciting, fresh, authentic dishes you could be the most desirable restaurant in Seattle. The food we had (chicken and lamb) was something anyone could throw together at home whether they are good cooks or not, whether they like to cook or not. There was no love or pride in the food. Oh, and your waitress needs to smile way more. We were there for dinner at 7:30, but we felt like we were making her stay to work after hours by the way she greeted us and took our order. Make your food exciting and delicious and teach your staff way more enthusiasm and you guys would be the place I take every single one of my out of town guests. I haven't tried the drinks bu tI did try pisco in Peru and based on this sour strong taste, woudl only recommend this to someone who truly wants a sour very strong drink.. ok that's lots of people!
