Pink Salt will always have a warm place in my heart. It is where we enjoyed our first dinner in Washington. Relocating from California has had its challenges but dinner was not one of them, thanks to Pink Salt. We were hungry after checking into our Airbnb and this restaurant was right up the street in Magnolia's cute little downtown area. The ambience is neat and inviting. Peruvian food is a favorite of our family and we needed to get some real comfort food. This did not disappoint! The service was great. Very friendly server with good knowledge of the menu. Our dishes arrived quickly, and it was all hot and absolutely delicious. We were so pleased! We ordered the seafood rice, black cod risotto and lomo saltado. Incredible! I was pretty excited to try a new spot for SRW! I haven't been to Magnolia much, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Pink Salt is just alright. It's a Peruvian restaurant with a very plain outside and dim lighting on the inside. The service was great, they were attentive. I unfortunately felt like the food and plating were really mediocre. We noted that the plates looked like plates you would find in a college dining hall. - Causa Acevichada: 5/5, really enjoyed the sauce. The rockfish tasted fresh! - Seco Limeno de Pollo: 3.5/5, the salsa was not as flavorful as I had hoped for. - Budin: 2/5, this was dry and small. I was really disappointed with this dessert. Pink salt is a family and local favorite. Their take on Peruvian food is elevated and just delicious. The flavors are spot on and the Peruvian inspiration comes out strong. This is the only place I will order ceviche in the city. The fish is fresh and the leche de Tigre is just the right balance of acid and heat. We came for dinner recently for Peru's liberation day. The menu special was fantastic. However some more Peruvian celebratory decorations would have been nice. You would not have know it was Peru's' big day from looking at the outside. read more

i tried pink salt as a part of seattle restaurant week. as a miamian who has had easy access to peruvian food for almost my entire life before moving here, i can say certainly that this place is just mid. the inside is nice, tablecloths and all. i was in a large party so we got sat in this second room away from everybody else - not necessarily a bad thing. however, i think because we were in the separate room, the service ended up not being great. the waiter almost never showed up and we kept running out of water. i ordered the causa, picante de mariscos, and the suspiro limeño. the causa is notttt worth it. it is an interesting take on causa, i'll give them that; however, it claimed to have pulpo con él but it was a miniscule amount included. i was disappointed. my entrée was pretty good and a decent amount of food, i had no problems with it. the dessert was just okay. personally, i think it's too pricey for what it is. seattle doesn't have a lot of choices for peruvian food, plus it's in magnolia which doesn't attract a lot of city dwellers since it's hard to get to without a car. i think that's why it comes with such a high markup. it was really only worth it for SRW. i do not think i'll be back. read more

They are very good! Starting with their real chicha. Refreshing. Kids love it. They also have wonderful and traditional drinks as Pisco Sour and a twist Pisco Tropical. Loved them. We had the usual: soldering salad, device (of course!), lomo, coconut prawns, pasta, and pulpo. I order to go some icecream. Not the best idea. I would have maracuya at the restaurant next time. Staff is helpful. Service is a bit slow even when there aren just 2 tables with customers (weekend lunch). Parking isn't that bad. Decor is nicer on the first room. I am a huge fan of Peruvian food and I was excited to dine here from the photos and the overall good reviews. Sadly this place really missed the mark and fell into the space of mid tier at top tier prices. The food was all over the place, either lacking in flavor, value or presentation. I started with the ceviche clasico, which had amazing flavor but was served in such large chunks that it was more like eating sashimi vs a ceviche. The fish was good but there was no mixing of the different pieces as the onions, corn and fish were too big to eat together. The coconut prawns were small and pricey but had good flavor, and the tallarin fell into that same category as well. The causa (with chicken) was bland and a disappointment so I ate it as an accompaniment to my solterito salad which actually had some flavors to it. All in all we didn't leave hungry but we didn't leave happy either. The other thing is that every dish is swimming in oil, to the point that I had to use my napkin to soak it all up. I'm not sure who needs a few extra oz of oil in their dishes but it ruins it for me. The service was fine for a bill that came out to 200 for two. They felt short staffed so I'll give a pass here. The interior is confusing as the ceiling looks like there was fire or smoke damage that wasn't cleaned up, and there are just random massive chairs blocking the path to the bathrooms. They were able to accommodate my celiac/ gluten requests which was nice but at this price point it is expected Tldr we don't plan on returning read more

Customer service is alive and well at this establishment. Do yourself a favor - visit Magnolia and dine here for an outstanding experience. The rather unassuming facade does not do the place justice. As a solo diner they were super nice and accommodating. I moved from the lounge to the dining room - they accommodated. My drink made by the uber accommodating bartender, Cameron, was switched out twice. Once because they forgot the booze, and again because it was too sweet for me. The ceviche was authentic and beautifully presented. I chatted with server Manny all about his home country and traveling. And, Sophia deserves mention for being extra nice, and even sensing that the dessert would be too sweet for me by bringing out a pre-bite, and she was correct. She kindly removed it from my check. The interior strikes a nice balance between modern and inviting, with a warm ambiance that's perfect for enjoying conversations, suitable for a date night or catching up with friends. We ordered three items: the yuca rellena, lamb shank (Cordero - from the specials), and the pesto risotto with tenderloin. While all were enjoyable, the tenderloin was the undeniable star of the meal. Well seasoned and cooked to tender perfection, it paired beautifully with the creamy risotto. Our server also mentioned thats it was the restaurant's most popular dish. The lamb shank had some lovely complementary elements like the beans and pickled red onions, but the meat itself was a bit of a letdown. It was difficult to eat, and there just wasn't enough of it on the bone to feel satisfying. The dish as a whole needed salt as well. The yuca rellena came served as four balls, but the smoked gouda cheese inside overpowered the flavor of the yuca. It seemed like the yuca was processed to achieve the rolled ball shape, which left me missing the natural texture of yuca that I usually enjoy. Overall, the food and atmosphere at Pink Salt make it a solid choice for a nice night out. While there's room for improvement on some dishes, the tenderloin alone makes it worth another visit. read more

When I dine I look for 4 things: Ambiance, great cocktails, not too loud (so I don't have to yell to my friends) and interesting AND of course tasty dishes. Pink Salt scores high in all 4 of these categories. Consistently good across the board. Try the Pisco Sour and the Aviator cocktail. The octopus is also surprisingly tasty. What's more, they are a repeat prize donor for our Vino in the Village Reuse Raffle. They care about reducing unnecessary waste, and thanks to their generous prize donation, we cut our Vino plastic waste in half (BYOG = 1 raffle ticket & chance to win dinner for 2 at Pink Salt!). Food and drink was just okay overall. We ordered the chicha morada, lomo saltado, and ceviche nikkei. Chicha morada was fine, but didn't taste like typical traditional chicha morada - it was just overwhelmingly tart. Lomo saltado was too vinegary and the meat was just a tad chewier than I like, so I wouldn't recommend that here. Ceviche nikkei was the star of the show. This restaurant is really pretty. The waiter was great. The food sucked. Flavorless and mediocre. Chicken was cold. Sauce had no flavor. A rice dish that pales in comparison to Rice-a-Roni. Steak that had no seasoning. We were told that the green chili sauce had "been taken down" to have no heat. What's the point? If you love flavorless food, this is the place. The food was delicious, although not as healthy as we thought it would be with ordering salad and fish. The salad was quite unique flavors, and in my opinion was the best part of the meal. The black cod was soft like butter, but loaded with oil/butter and did not feel too lean. it was also sitting on top of a large bed of risotto that tasted closer to mac & cheese than a high end restaurant. The ratio of fish to carby risotto did not feel balanced. The dessert included shortbread cookies, normally a favorite. However, these cookies were abundantly dry and crumbled a bit too easily. To top it off, they were coated in sugar to an excessive extent, and I can say we decided not to finish dessert. The staff were friendly. Overall, I can say it wasn't terrible and the food was somewhat unique, but with the exception of the salad, it's not a place I would be running to go back to. read more

I simply do not understand the rave reviews here. My husband and I chose this restaurant based on the ratings and were severely disappointed. I ordered the pisco sour based on all the pictures. What I was served was, I can only assume, either a negroni or a Boulevardier. No egg white to be seen. When I asked our waitress, she just replied with the fact I had ordered a pisco sour. Cool, red flag number one. We got the coconut prawns, that while very oily, were quite good. This is where the positive part of our meal stopped. My husband ordered the arroz con mariscos and I got the pesto risotto with steak. The steak was well cooked and flavorful, but the risotto was bland, OILY, mush. How you can make pesto bland, I'll never know. This risotto was literally swimming in oil. My husband's rice dish was similarly just mushy rice paste and smelled overwhelmingly fishy. The prawns that were mixed in weren't peeled, so he had to use his hands in an extremely messy dish to peel the shrimp. Poor execution choice there. Overall, for a meal that was over $150 before tip, this wasn't it. We will not be returning. read more

Let me say first that my review is more of a 3.5 than a 3 rating. There were highlights but there were also low lights. I've had Pink Salt bookmarked for a while because of its very high rating. So one Friday night, a group of four of us decided to give it a shot. To start, they gave us some cancha (corn nuts) which was quite addicting. Maybe one of the better items here. We ordered the following... -Ceviche Clasico -Calamari -Causa Nikkei -Pesto Risotto -Their take on Aji de Gallina In terms of starters, the ceviche was alright. I've had better in other places. While I'm not well-versed in Peruvian food, my take is that a ceviche is great when you feel like drinking the leche de tigre... and I didn't really feel the need to drink this leche. The calamari was straight up bad. Definitely skip. The Causa Nikkei was their octopus dish which was nice. The octopus was tender and the whipped potato was tasty. As for the entrees, we weren't really impressed, especially at the price point. Would we come back? No. But I can see why it's popular. It's a relatively nice restaurant in Magnolia - especially considering that most places don't stay open too late. So I'm glad they're doing good business. But it wasn't for me. read more

True, that Petit Pierre started there, and became to popular, that it was purchased and now it's becoming a small local chain of nearly top-notch French food. No, I never thought of this area as a place to visit. Pink Salt defies that thinking, by planting in the middle of Magnolia, a wonderful eatery, which is dreamy goodness. It feels cozy, intimate, yet spacious in the right way. The ambiance is all about the salt... the food is perfectly seasoned.. and it's Peruvian Inspired. my food order was Lomo Saltado, which is Silver beef tenderloin stir-fried and served with red onions and tomato. My review is based on being Peruvian and I can cook authentic Peruvian dishes. Overall a good experience and definitely the dishes come in a great presentation. The ceviche clasico was amazing. Everyone should honestly always get this dish as it pairs well with any entree. It's also a perfect dish to share The Papa La Huancaina is French fry style with huancaina sauce. The sauce is good but I'm used to having it with a different type of cheese, therefore; the huancaina flavor wasn't what I expected. I did like the sauce though and ate all the sauce. The ambiance and service of the restaurant was great, and is in the heart of Magnolia with other great restaurants and almost overlooking the Farmers Market on a Saturday early afternoon. The chef whom I follow on Instagram had a chance to talk with me and told me that he also makes 2 types of Peruvian ice cream and gave me a sample made with Rocoto, which is a Peruvian hot pepper. The ice cream tasted like strawberry with a little kick, paired with an alfajor, whipped cream and a reduction of chicha morada. read more

They offer a variety of Pisco cocktails (Pisco being the national liquor of Peru). I had the pulp a la parilla (grilled octopus) and arroz con mariscos (rice with seafood). Both were notably delicious, but the pulpo (both the appetizer and in the seafood) really stood out. It was perfectly tender and tasted great. Upon walking in, we were greeted by a soft atmosphere with candlelight and Central American music playing at low volume. We were able to be seated immediately at 6pm on a Friday with no reservation! My partner ordered a Pisco Sour, which like everything ordered, had a beautiful presentation and a llama carefully carved into its froth, and I tried their Malbec. This restaurant might have the best plating in Seattle! For entradas, we ordered the ceviche Nikkei and Causa Nikkei. The ahi tuna was sushi grade and both dishes tasted SO refreshing. We were delighted by the presentation, it looked too beautiful to eat! For dinner, we tried the Cordero Pachamanquero, which also came with a side of rice. The highlight of the dish was the exquisite broth and the lamb was cooked to perfection. We also tried the Pesto Risotto with tenderloin, we recommend trying each bite with a tomato! Both dishes were as delicious as they looked! The main course followed the appetizer at the perfect pace, and we had plenty to take home with us. As we were running late to our show, we did not have time for dessert, which was heartbreaking. We will be back next time for Tres Leches! read more

We've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally decided to try it during restaurant week. It's a very cute and intimate space that would be great for a date night. We got some pisco sours to start, which were great and had cute llamas on them! However, unfortunately that's about all the good things that I can share about this place. We picked from the SRW menu but unfortunately they had run out of the potato fish we had our eye on and had to settle for an asparagus salad. While it tasted ok, getting asparagus when you were craving potatoes was not exactly my idea of a good time. It sadly went downhill from there - the main I got was a fish on some kind of risotto. I honestly had to block it out of my brain cos it was that disappointing. The fish was both fishy and flavorless at the same time, and was a pretty meager portion for the price. There were also raw tomatoes on there for some reason. The risotto was just under seasoned mush. I could not finish my meal and left hungry. Ending on a somewhat better note, for dessert, I got the passion fruit cheesecake which was quite tasty. I also wished the menu and service did more explaining about how this food is representative of inspired by Peruvian cuisine. read more

I love Pink Salt and feel lucky to have it in our neighborhood! The service is usually prompt and friendly (though occasionally is hit and miss), but the place is beautiful with the salt rock wall, and kid-friendly. Most importantly, the food is always solid with some really outstanding dishes. The pasta and the green sauce (aji verde I assume) is incredible; I could drink that sauce. The causa, solterito salad, and burger are also great. Worth the trek into Magnolia! read more

Pink Salt is a hidden gem within Magnolia. There are not a lot of restaurant options in Magnolia that are worth going our of your way for, but Pink Salt is the exception. The food was delicious. Highly recommend getting the Yuca Rellana to start. The Pesto Rissotto with Tenderloin was also delicious. I only had a glass of wine but they had some tasty looking cocktails on the menu that are probably worth a try. The food was on the pricier side but it was cooked to perfection. We made reservations but were surprised that the restaurant was largely unoccupied on a Saturday night. It was nice that the restaurant was quiet but it was hard to get a sense for what the ambiance was intended to be. Great choice for delicious food and a nice dinner out though! read more

First off amazing ambiance. No complaints there 5/5. I get out of my car and atleast 6 people near us was all going to the same restaurant. They even said their food was amazing. I had high hopes already from how much people were inside. Food is more on the smaller portion side for the price but overall good food. Perfect for date night or a treat yourself day. There were slight cons; the mussels in the dish were such a disappointment to the dish since it had "waste" inside and you can taste it. The Cod risotto was perfect but slightly more on the oily side and did give me heart burns while eating. Calamari was yummy but so sad it was gone in a couple of bites.
