I learned about this little sandwich shop and about Cooper himself via a TT vid just recently and was sad to hear that they may have to close due to lack of business. Of course I wanted to support a local Texas biz and my partner in crime and I decided to make this our meal of the day! Glad we did too. I ordered the Apollo aptly named after their Great Dane since it was loaded with roast beef, ham, bacon, and creamed corn on a baguette. Well toasted and delicious, my tummy was fully satisfied! I coupled my sandwich with some Miss Vicki's chips and a drink for a few bucks extra. My PIC went for the Cooper and chowed down on buffalo chicken, bacon, lettuce, pepper jack on a brioche for his lunch. The Cooper was also full of flavor and hit the spot! Service was friendly and our lunch was served with a smile and a thank you. As for the ambiance, it was low key which gave us a chance to talk about our lunch and the option to get some Amy's ice cream afterwards lol Unfortunately, we were stuffed afterwards so we 86'd the idea. I very much enjoyed my meal at Coopers! I ordered the Simba and it was delicious! I also snagged some of their chocolate chip cookies, 10/10. Okkk where to start: Sandwich taste: 6/10 it was nicely put together but sadly very bland. Ambiance: 1/10 the floors were sticky and had chips under each dirty table. We walked in there was a younger boy playing on a computer and a nice lady behind the counter. Not one customer. The place was a mess. The pictures of dogs were very cute and colors of the facility were uplifting but very sticky and dirty. Cleanliness: Ok here is where I had a huge issue. The nice women was I'm guess "teaching" her son in Assuming how to take orders And make food. He is not ready for Any of that.... Cooper's serves up some solid sandwiches in a cute, warm environment with lots of precious dog-related decor. The shop is named after the founder's dog, Cooper, a golden retriever who is featured as one of the store's various "employees of the month" on the front wall by the drink station. Each sandwich is named after one of the other dogs (also featured on the employee of the month wall :) ), and they all offer some unique combos--not your typical sub-shop flavor profiles! My husband and I popped in for a Saturday lunch on the run, and the ladies working there were incredibly kind and gracious. Sandwiches came out great, and the "small" is massive and more than enough for one person! So be warned! Both of us were very full once finished. They also offer pizzas, pizza rolls, ice cream, and salads. We didn't try any of these offerings, but we hope to soon! Ingredients were fresh, offerings were reasonably varied without being over-broad, and overall we enjoyed our meal! The ambiance is not fancy, but the people are friendly and the food is great. It's counter service for your sandwich (or salad) and Amy's ice cream. You can build your own sandwich, but I couldn't resist the Simba - a warm sandwich on flat bread with prosciutto, figs, caramelized onions, cream cheese and arugula. Total yumminess. Stopped by here for a late lunch on my way home. Nice little place. Standard Sandwich options. I opted for the Apollo, a specialty sandwich, cause I was intrigued by the creamed corn, despite the price, but it only comes in one size--LARGE. The baguette was super fresh (a big plus) and the combo of meat, cheese and corn was surprisingly good. Despite being super hungry I could only eat half of it. The daughter had a small plain turkey with provolone on white, which was also very good and still large for a small. Stopped by here recently for a quick lunch to take home. Basically this place is like an upscale subway, where you can make your own sandwich or choose from a few named sandwiches. I wasn't feeling creative so we got a Lulu and Cooper's sandwich. They were relatively inexpensive and filling, and pretty tasty, too. I tried this on a whim when my boyfriend wanted a chicken sandwich, but I didn't feel like driving to Popeyes. I ordered the cooper for him, and I got the Apollo. The cooper was tasty but we could tell it wasn't freshly cooked chicken, their setup is more Subway-style but with food that they precook themselves. It's a good sandwich, but after a few bites it gets to be too much in one bite. Needs some freshness like crunchy lettuce or something. As for the Apollo, I didn't even really like my first bite. The meat tasted kinda old and it was again, just way too heavy and unbalanced. This sandwich shop is tucked away on Southwest Parkway. It has pizzas and sandwiches, along with soups, salads, and pizza rolls. I enjoy that it has a dinner theme with the pizzas and a lunch theme with the sandwiches. I ordered the Simba Sandwich for lunch. It was absolutely fantastic! I wish they had more marketing within the store to explain the story behind the name of the business as well as the names of the sandwiches! I believe the owner/manager was behind the counter training a new employee. No greeting when I entered and they were 10-12 feet away from me in plain sight. I ordered the Apollo, Chips and a water. The ciabatta bread was warm and soft-not overly chewy. The Apollo is a huge sandwich-filled with roast beef, ham, Jack cheese, creamed corn and bacon bits. Surprisingly it did lack flavor. The bread was warm but the meats were cold. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be? Idk. I wrapped up my lunch and as I was leaving I was hoping for a "thank you, have a good day" and nothing. I originally heard about Cooper's on TikTok and decided to come and show some support and hopefully try some good food. Shop is a bit hidden from view but has good parking. Shop has plenty of seating, nice decor and a self-serve drink station. Staff was very friendly and food was out about as quickly as you'd expect a sandwich to be made. I ordered The Simba Sandwich and made it a meal, which came out to $17.50 which in my opinion is a bit much for portion size but I understand it's a small business. The Simba Sandwich was a hot sandwich, which I did not expect but I also didn't hate. I'm not typically a hot sandwich person and I did think the sandwich was a bit decedent, but it had good flavor and was definitely filling (at least to me). I'm definitely curious to try the other sandwiches and maybe even a pizza! Will be sure to stop by next time i'm in Austin! Would recommend if you're looking to try a new sandwich place. read more

Really great sandwiches and the employee that helped me, although I can't remember her name, deserves a raise. She was extremely happy and polite to everyone who walked in the door. On my week long trip to Austin, I went there twice for lunch. The sandwiches are large enough that I took the other half back to the hotel and had them for dinner. Bonus points for me on my expense statement. Lol. Who has ever heard of creamed corn on a sandwich? Well, the Apollo has it, and I was a bit leery to order it. Stopped by to grab a sandwich before work, and was pretty excited to try Cooper's, looking at all the pictures and reviews it looks great. My boyfriend and I walk in and no one is inside. It was like a ghost town. No one behind the counter or anything. I look on the back table and there's stuff all over the place and a blanket on the floor. It was just a weird energy... We stood there waiting for someone to appear when suddenly we hear the bathroom door open and a young girl come out. She called out a long hiiiiiii and went straight behind the counter. A weird interaction, it seemed like we had disrupted her or something. Then we see a young man peek to see if anyone is watching, then guiltily come out of that SAME bathroom. It's hard to explain the situation, but if you could have been there and seen it all go down, it was very weird. Two teenagers coming out of the same bathroom, it was clear they were hooking up in there while no one was around. Then she was going to make my food?? I'm good. If y'all need to mess around do it another time, not in the work bathroom where customers are going to see you. I felt so uncomfortable, we literally left. I don't know what's going on over there or why they think that's okay to get down like that, but you're loosing business and making people feel really nasty about wanting to eat your food. These sandwiches are Da Bomb!! I ordered 4 different ones (variety for the family), and all were made fresh with quality ingredients. Lotta love gets put into these sandos. If I were to be so bold, their buffalo chicken sandwich was probably one of the most legit sandwiches I've had in Austin. I felt like I was in a New York deli trying to be the victor over the dense savory behemoth that was this sandwich. Highly recommend this bad boy.
