I think jersey mikes might be the best sub shop around. Today I ate there and had the Philly cheesesteak. They make it fresh and to order. I am a picky eater and the got my order correct the first time !! The restaurant was super clean. The seating area was comfy. The drink station has sodas and sweet and unsweetened teas. The overalll experience is great and wow what a great sandwich. I have plain sea salt chips but they have many flavors to choose from. read more

I only give this two stars because one of the team members here had a cold non hospitable attitude. I can say this because when she was making my sandwich just seemed as if I was a bother asking for it to be prepared in a certain way and whispering to her other coworkers as she's doing it. She was covered with tattoos on each arm, brunette and must of been a lead of some sort which is even worse. I always want to try new places but i hate wasting money, this was definitely not one of those experiences! While looking for a quick bite to eat in Austin, trying things we don't have in our hometown are typically the main goal. This place was just perfect for me and my friends to get in and out, the male staff made sure we understood what we were ordering and were friendly and patient, the place was pristine, and even clean outside as there is girl scouts currently set up there! The mini bread was perfect for me and my girlfriend as we have small appetites, and the philly cheese was just phenomenal since the veggies were grilled fresh ! 10/10 read more

I prefer New York Mark's, but these are really good sandwiches too. This location of Jersey Mike's is in Austin (sorry, I meant ATX), next to the big gym that we didn't love, and it was the highlight of the plaza, which isn't saying much, but we liked it regardless. They make pretty decent sandwiches for a chain, probably 10 times better than Subway, but not as good as some local sandwich shops, and even in Texas (which isn't an amazing state for sandwiches) you'll find some much better ones than this here and there. Still, if you compare one of these to Quiznos or Jimmy John's this is way way better. So I have to give them four rather than three, because Austin isn't exactly the sandwich capital of the world like, for example, Philadelphia. Although the secret is, Philly Cheesesteaks suck (except at a couple places), and the real highlight of Philly is the Roast Pork with Greens and Extra Sharp Provolone. Anyway, I digress. I love a good sandwich but I am so picky with the meats used and I usually like a hot sub but I gave it a try and loved it! I got the Turkey Provolone on wheat and the amount of oil and oregano added is perfect! The turkey does not have a old taste to it. I did see they slice the meat and turkey per order so it is fresh! I started using the app and ordering ahead and have not had any issues picking up my food on time. Only once my food was not ready but they expedited the ticket and did not wait long. My first time at a Jersey Mikes. Honestly came bc of the huge amount of love for the #9 on TikTok. One sandwich was being made/rung up and only one guy behind me. The rudeness and urgency of the guy making my sandwich was honestly shocking. I'd read great things about the staff at this location and the owner is very responsive and kind on the reviews. I greeted him with "hello , how are you?" He ignored me and again curtly asked me what bread did I want. It was hard to hear him bc of the partition, but I said clearly "well I said hello and 'how are you', but okay.." I was kind of amazed he also ignored this and again said "what...bread???" He slopped my sandwich together with ingredients falling out into the dirty counter and being shoved back in. I didn't dare say a word til he put all my mayo in a circle in the middle of the bread. When I asked if he'd mind spreading that out he made a show of leaving the room and returning w a huge serrated knife to spread it out. Maybe he's having the worst day or stressed abt heading to a second job after idk but we're not at some surly historic NYC deli during a lunch rush w 100 ppl in line---we're in a strip mall in the suburbs in an almost empty sandwich shop at 10 min to 3pm. My criticism is not necessarily limited to this store, but to the recipes of the chain overall. This was my first time in a Jersey Mike's. I got an Italian sandwich, something that pretty much every sandwich shop has. It was very expensive, and out $17 for a large sandwich. For that price, the sandwich should be fantastic. Not so. It was bland and offered fewer toppings than any other sandwich shop. I'm NOT a fan of Subway, but I would take them straight up any day over this, and that's before I consider that Jersey Mike's is 3x the price. Today was the second time in 2 weeks they messed up my sandwich. It seems all the staff is new. They left off the bacon that comes with the sandwich last week and today they left off the oil and vinegar. That staff tries to be helpful but seems like they all started working there yesterday. I ate here when they first opened a couple of years ago and wasn't impressed. I grew up in NYC and was used to amazing subs. A couple of months ago tried it again and was very pleasantly surprised. Unlike Subway, they slice their fresh meats (which aren't all made from turkey) when you order and they slice them thin. Meats are really pretty good. Asked one of the guys what was better, Philly Cheese Steak or Chicken Cheese Steak. He recommended the Philly and it was really good. As it turns out the Chicken is pretty decent too. I am a creature of habit and get the number 14 which is the vegetarian sandwich all of the cheeses and bell peppers are already pre-sliced and packaged nicely in a refrigerator. I gnoshed on a turkey sandwich on wheat: seems that default is that these are served cold, and mine came bathed (doused?) in a red vinaigrette sauce that seemed to do the trick. It's a clean locale and they're good about flipping the sandwiches in short order. And as you might expect, while not a singular epicurial delight, decent, on the spot. This place is pretty solid - clean and affordable. You go in, pick your bread: White, Wheat, Parmesan and Rosemary You pick your sandwich and they cut the meats to order, this means that your deli meats haven't been sitting out, drying out, and losing flavor. The deli meats are fresh and the portion sizes are generous. From these sandwich options you also have the option of making them "Mike's Way", which means there are onions, lettuce, tomatoes, olive oil blend, red wine vinegar and spices.... it's good! We ordered the (regular sized) "Original Italian #13" and "Grilled Pastrami Reuben #20" - both very good, and both for $6.49 (just for the sandwich). I will definitely be coming back. read more

So this review is very specific to this location, and I can't speak to any others, but WOW...service like you would not believe. I don't normally review chains, because usually there's no point, you know what you're getting and their pretty much all the same. But not this place...this Jersey Mikes is special. It's been a little while since I've gotten to eat here, because of dietary restrictions, but the guy that use to be, and hopefully still is the owner/manager here is the most amazing "fast-food" worker I've very encountered. We called one night to find out what time they close and bummer, we realized that we wouldn't be able to make it there in time. BUT, the manager offered to take our order over the phone and said even though they would be closed when we got their, to just knock on the door and he would bring us our sandwiches!?! What!? So Awesome! We interacted with him on several subsequent occasions, and were always equally impressed. All the other servers too...a lot of chain "fast food" places seem to have workers that are really unhappy about their jobs, and are wasting no time trying to hide it, but anyone that has every helped us at this Jersey Mike's seems happy, upbeat, and genuine. In terms of their food, and a more general review: Sandwiches are sandwiches, so I'm not going to pretend like theirs are so much better than any other...but they are VERY good, and have a lot of great choices that are a little different than some of the other sandwich joints. Compared to other chains I would say they are better than most (Jimmy Johns, Subway, Quiznos, Potbelly, etc.) I would say probably similar in QUALITY OF FOOD to ThunderCloud or WhichWich, but very different vibes from either of those. Two weeks ago: the guy on the line had his beak sticking out from his mask which may not have been his fault, but then serving the people before me he picked his nose while making their sandwiches. Bad optics and potentially very bad health consequences. Everyone picks their nose. You can't do that on the line, though. Today: exact opposite with a different crew working. The guy behind the line was multi-tasking and keeping a perfect pace. The sandwiches of course are delicious. I'd even in the absence of a pandemic consider accepting one with a stray booger in it. I've worked most positions in food service except manager: disher, busser, server, line cook, prep. You do stupid stuff without thinking. He was super friendly, and that goes a LONG way when I consider who I want to give my money to. Chipoltle Cheese steak. Say it with me. Chipoltle Cheese steak. It is just like a regular cheese steak - but different. The usual ingredients are present; shaved beef, grilled onions and peppers....PLUS chipotle mayo for a bit of extra 'yum' factor. As Yolanda mentioned, the only downside here is that is that 'you may walk away smelling like you work in a sub sandwich shop' - which I agree with. Went here with a friend who loved Jersey Mike's even though I had never been cause I'm always up for trying new chow. At the counter, we were warmly greeted. When I asked the older man of the two for recs since it was my first time, He was happy to give me the low down. The Italian Sub had two different kinds of ham that I wasn't familiar with so he quickly offered me a slice of each to sample. I don't remember the names of them but one was seasons with black pepper and the other had a sweet licorice taste, almost Jagermeister like. I'm sure the blend in the sandwhich is good with the salami but I went with their popular philly cheesesteak which was awesome! Grilled onions and peppers smothered with fine steak and cheese, what's not to love? Cool thing is that the owner didn't even tell me he was the owner until I asked and thought it was great to see him working behind the counter along side the other staff making subs. He said that his sister and brother-in-law own the other 3 Jersey Mike Subs in Austin. Only downside is that you walk away smelling like the sub sandwhich shop smell that every shop has. Don't know how to describe it but notice after you sit in a subshop for a while like Subway. Airing out the clothes in the garage helps. I drive by this place every day on my way to work. Today on my way home from work traffic was terrible, I got off work near the Y in Oak Hill and it took me almost half an hour to get to WmCannon and Mopac. I decided to pull off and get some food and hang out for a while as the traffic didn't seem to be letting up. I pulled into the shopping center and looked around. I've never been to Jersey Mike's before, but I eat at Subway, Jimmy John's, and Tucci's regularly, so a sub sounded great. I go in and the place is almost empty. Maybe 2 tables with people at them eating and 1 person ordering. There was one employee making the person at the counter's food and two other employees visible behind the counter. I wasn't greeted when I came in. Whatever, sometimes it just doesn't happen. I'm in retail and I understand that people get busy and just don't have time to say hello. So I'm looking at the Menu and I see that you have roast beef cooked in house every day. I love roast beef! I start making eye contact with the employees to initiate an order. The girl making the sandwiches is busy talking to her customer about feeding babies avocado or something but she looks at me I know she can tell I'm ready to order and she kind of looks at me helplessly. I look around and there is a guy in the back (left side behind the counter.) He's looking at this guy who is in the front (right side of the counter) just playing with some plastic cord cover that's coming off of the wall. The guy playing with the cord cover looks back at the guy in the back, the guy in the back points at me, and the guy goes back to playing with the plastic cord cover. At this point, I've been in here for 5 minutes without anyone saying a word to me. The guy eventually stops playing with the cord cover and walks towards me. Great, I step closer to the counter ready to order. Nope. Dude keeps walking to the back to talk to the other guy. I'm done, I just turned around, walked out and will never come back here.
