Apple booked an appointment here for me to get my MacBook screen replaced due to the AR coating wearing off ('Staingate') which was actually recalled with an extended warranty. The staff were quick to understand my issue and proposed a 3-4 day repair. After I expressed my hesitance to give up my lap-baby aka my livelihood for that long, they also offered let me keep my laptop and have me return after Apple had shipped the parts. Ultimately, the shipping and repair took less than 2 days, which was less than expected. Super happy with the service and price (considering it was free) and +1 for attempting to save my laptop stickers too (although a few decal casualties were claimed). read more

I made an appointment through Apple to replace my MacBook battery. Was excited about finally dealing with the issue! Upon arrival I was greeted by a woman who's probably a computer genius but should simply not be tasked with dealing with customers... not good. I was then told that before replacing the battery they needed to run a diagnostic on my laptop and that would take 5 to 6 business days. Wha??? If a business is this backed up, they need to better manage their resources. Walked away with nothing... very disappointing. read more

I am so impressed by this repair shop. I had a backlight issue on my 2016 MacBook Pro and took it to another shop where they said I would have to pay $600-$800 to repair it. As a last resort, I booked an appointment at Computerland and left my computer with them. My computer's service was free and the issue was fixed for free due to a recall. They sanitized my computer upon arrival which gave me peace of mind, especially because of Covid. The staff is incredibly professional and knowledge. I cannot recommend Computerland highly enough. My only experience was with Gus, but everyone else seemed nice and I'm sure this would apply to them too. Gus was knowledgeable and patient and took the time to explain my options to me and give the advice that would benefit me the most in terms of money and peace of mind, even though that advice meant less work for them. Plus, unlike the Genius Bar at the Apple stores, you can make an appointment to come in most times on most days. When I came in I made an appointment two days beforehand (not out of necessity, but because it was actually the best time for me). If I had tried to go to an Apple store the soonest appointment was a week out. Honest, helpful, and readily available. There really isn't much more you could ask for. read more

I run a small company and we have many Macs. The service at Computerland is MUCH faster and more consistent than at various Apple locations I've used. I worked with Gus, who really nailed the issues with my Mac and did a major repair (which included a parts order) in 5 days. The Mac was covered by AppleCare, so the repair was free to me. I went to computer land berkeley for my laptop repair after a coffee spill. After all the checking they told me 3 major parts need to be replaced. They told me a price more than Apple would charge me. I took my laptop from there and got it fixed from another place with only 1 part getting changed and almost 1/4th of the price they were charging me for that particular part. Makes me realise they were just trying to earn money thinking that I'm a student and I have no other option. Simply pathetic. read more

My computer (ASUS UX301L) broke down the week before finals. I was freaking out and after looking around at a couple of places, Computerland stuck out to me for having the fairest price (with diagnostic fees applied to labor/repair) and great intake process. A couple of other shops told me that I should just buy another computer. Computerland was very sympathetic to my situation and made every assurance that my repair would be processed as quickly as they could and they delivered! Diagnostics took just a little over 24 hours (motherboard died), and repairs only took about 5 days (this included ordering and shipping parts). I will admit that I am not the best about keeping my laptop clean, but Computerland polished it up and so, on top of working like new, it looks new too. They even salvage my hard drives so I still have all my data. (Surprisingly, I was able to reopen closed tabs on chrome and it was like the whole incident never even happened.) My particular computer is hard to find parts for and isn't even really on the market. It can still go for over $1200, which is too much for me to replace it. Instead, I only paid a little over $400 for the same $1200 quality. While $400 is a little pricey for a college student, it is a much better bargain, and more affordable, than buying another computer of lesser quality, or the $600-700+ I was quoted for replacing the motherboard at other stores. I would like to personally thank Gina and Josh for being so friendly and patient during this stressful period. I was calling and messaging them frequently to check on the repair status due to my anxious feelings, and they continued to be professional and reassuring. I am using the laptop to type up this review as we speak, and I will be able to use it to finish my final papers in time. P.S At first, I was worried that my touchpad was affected by the repair because my gestures weren't working. I called Computerland to ask them about it and Josh talked me through my options and used his own laptop (also an ASUS) to help me troubleshoot (which he also did during diagnostics, switching out my motherboard with his to confirm it was the problem). Turns out I wasted his time and the computer just needed to warm up because, after a short period of none than lagging gestures, they are back to normal. First they charge you 40 dollars for just checking your computer then it took up to 10 days to get back to you. After 10 days of waiting the guy told me it's $560 for fixing it. Its literally cost $100 more than Apple store s price for fixing my MacBook Air. I thought it should be cheaper than Apple store coz I read the comments. I rather take it back to fix at Apple store because it is too expensive and when I asked why they are much more expensive than Apple store. The guy replied because they are small business. Gg... Fantastic, quick, and professional service! My MacBook Air battery has been slowly dying (tip: when your battery warning says "Replace Soon," do not wait until it says "Replace Now") and they ordered a replacement on the spot and fixed it up as soon as it arrived. As an essential service during shelter-in-place, they're also taking precautions seriously and the workers are wearing masks and gloves, everything they touch is being wiped down before & after customer use (including the pen), and my laptop definitely came back cleaner than before. I so rarely write yelp reviews but this particular Apple Tech Support business left an impression on me. All of the employees were incredibly communicative and kind. They fixed my Apple computer in one day (i went to computerland to begin with because the actual Apple Store was all booked up for a week) and then informed me that my computer was eligible for a new, free screen and keyboard because of a recall (which I would have never known about). The technicians texted me with updates throughout the day, and were so communicative and lovely to work with (especially Nerko). I highly recommend this place! These folks are terrific. Even during Covid they took me as a walk-in and they had good social distancing, masks, and sanitizer. My grandson's computer camera had failed during a class, and he depended on that computer for Zoom School. They immediately determined that the problem was just a slow uploading of an operating system upgrade, and refused to charge for it. A computer break down in the midst of a SIP order is not easy. I dropped my BRAND NEW MacBook Air and my screen was destroyed. To have it repaired was easier said than done with outraged demonstrators and looters doing their thing.... I was panicked! Being without your computer is like losing a limb during times like this. Last night my macbook air fell off my bed and knocked over a glass of water. It shut off after a few minutes and i PANICKED. As a college student, especially in these times, my laptop is my most important possession. I was linked to Computerland directly through the apple website. I was very distraught to find my computer keyboard and trackpad didn't work out of the blue! I scheduled an appointment with Computerland through the Apple Store app and brought it in. I was worried it was going to take weeks but it didn't, and I have my computer back safely. These guys are the best! My iMac crashed completely and Apple couldn't get me in for over a week. I do bookkeeping and it was end of month so clients wanted data! Apple booked a time for me with Computerland in 2 days. Gus told me I needed a new hard drive and a new solid state one would be way better so I told them to go ahead and do it. I drove all the way from SF to get my Macbook Air keyboard fixed here because there are very few Apple repair places open during the pandemic and my "e" key broke a few days ago, making it nearly impossible for me to type anything coherent (let's just say this was not a great mood enhancer during stressful times). The friendly folks at Computerland let me know upfront that it was possible the repair could take a few days. But not only did they fix it in less than 24 hours, they also replaced the face of few other keys that were worn and tattered after many years of daily plunking - gratis! Wow!!!! I'M SO GRATEFUL!!! These guys were the best. I had issues with the touchbar not responding on my MacBook Pro. I took it in last minute on Monday, and they were able to repair it by Tuesday. I got a great rate for the repair, and they even replaced my laptop battery free of charge. My computer came back newer and cleaner than I left it. They also do a great job at communicating the repair process, leave voicemails if you don't answer, and you're always in the loop as to what's happening with your tech.
