This place is awesome, the guys that work here are super helpful and knowledgeable. I went to look at the new Giant bikes and ended up walking out with one, great quality bike and I wasn't pushed by the workers to purchase anything. Great place great customer service, will always return here for future business! You guys rock! read more

Competitive Edge Cyclery - Giant escape 3 - Bikes Near Me - Upland, California

Came I to this shop looking for a couple bikes and wasn't sure what I was looking for and had a lot of questions.. I'll tell you what I spent maybe 2 1/2 hours on all my trips to this shop just asking questions and testing the bikes out.. Steven and Andrew are really great and know what they are doing at this shop.. I'll tell you what if these guys weren't so cool and knowledgeable I would have gone to another shop.. I picked up 2 bikes and a few extras and spent a little over 1,600. I feel like I invested my money right because this shop offers great service for 2 years. For instance tune ups and maintenance.. Great place best money spent in a while.... Also the other shop in upland was great too! So great workers means they must have a great owner.. Thanks guys keep up the good work I'll be back!! read more

Came in to have my pedals switched out along with a break adjustment and lube. Always fair and reasonable prices, friendly, and professional. read more

I loved the service. it took a little while to repair my specialized rockhopper mountain bike but at the price they gave me it was a steal. and awesome work! read more

Mark, Michael and his staff are super cool and efficient! We followed them from Upland and won't go anywhere else for maintenance, equipment and just all around knowledge. Thanks for getting my husband's Moab back on the road! read more

I found an electra bike my daughter liked at sports chalet. The owner beat the price. We love the bike and we get repairs-tune ups there all the time. Love it! Wouldn't go anywhere else read more

I'm not one to post on Yelp often, but when a business goes above beyond any possible expectation to help me as a customer, it's worth calling out. I was riding Tour de Cure when I broke a spoke in my rear wheel. I figured my ride was over, when one of my buddies Googled a shop which was within 1/2 mile of where we were. Luckily, it was Competitive Edge. When I walked in, Eddie attempted to get my wheel fixed to get me back on the road immediately. Unfortunately, it was a complicated repair which was going to take more time. Once again, prognosis was looking bleak...under most circumstances, it's time to phone it in and get a ride. But not in this case...Mark and Eddie came to the rescue with a loaner wheel to get me back on the road while they worked on my wheel, with the understanding that I just swap wheels later that day after my ride was over. Once again, well above and beyond anything I could have ever expected. Their kindness and trust will not soon be forgotten. Give them a shot if you need something bike-related, and I'm sure you'll be as impressed as I was. read more

I went to Competitive Edge last week with my daughter to shop a bit before meeting my wife and other daughter for dinner. Before we arrivedI was bracing myself to get frustrated and leave, expecting high-pressure sales and uncomfortable questions. I was proven 100% wrong. Andrew was so incredibly great at helping me navigate through the sea of options to find a couple of ideal bikes that would work best for my needs. He was incredibly respectful and really a pleasure to chat with as he did a sort of show and tell for various options. I went home to order the bike online a few days later, to be delivered to this store as Andrew instructed. I'm looking forward to picking up my new bike next week! read more

Had to give these guys a 5 star review for doing business the right way with great service and good pricing with a quick turn around time. Thanks Mark and thanks to your helpful staff as well. read more

Looking for the best bike shop in the area-look no further. This place is outstanding. They have everything you can possibly need to have you on the road (or trail)-safely enjoying your ride. The owner (Mark) and staff are avid riders and are very knowledgeable about your bike. They are excellent in explaining their thoughts and recommendations. And it is done in casual "layman's" terms. They will even demonstrate what they are talking about in order to make things perfectly clear. Prices are very reasonable and length of time for repairs is going to depend on time of year but I have never found it to be an issue. read more

I have been meaning to get back into cycling now that I am retired. Both my wife and I had talked about it for a few months. With the country pretty much stopped, seemed like a good time to finally take that step and to take a look at what is out there. As soon as we walked into the store in RANCHO CUCAMONGA, you could feel the good vibes. We were immediately approached as to how we could be helped. Jeff took care of both my wife's and my desires without any pressure. He listened to what we thought we were after, took pity on us, and directed us to what I thought were great recommendations in line with our needs. He spent the time necessary to talk to us, tune the bikes for quick test rides, and outfit us with helmets. They even didn't seem to get too annoyed with two grandkids running around the store when we had to call our son-in-law to bring his truck so we could get the bikes home. It was a good experience and look forward to getting my cycling needs taken care of here in the future. Full disclosure: this wasn't the first store we stopped in today, but it was the most welcoming and customer-focused. read more

Great service, fair price. I love my bike now! It's better than new! Thanks! read more

LOVE! So helpful and friendly! My lil guy turned 6 and it was time for a new bike! We stopped in and were greeted by a friendly staff. They helped fit him to the best bike, sized him for a new helmet, and made sure the bike was adjusted and safe! In and out in 20min. AWESOME! read more

My wife bought me a Trek there way back in 2001. Have taken my bikes there on occasion for tune ups. Its an okay place...but would agree with some reviews on the customer service...not bad, but not the greatest. The times I have been in there....usually a line of folks waiting to be serviced...and only two reps around...one is usually working on bikes talking to you from the maintenance area, the other is tied up with a customer. I still prefer going to Jensons in Riverside....a small trek from Upland, but for me its worth the drive for the customer service and variety of cycling products (and their prices arent bad either). read more

I came here to buy my 2 year old son a balance bike, unfortunately they did not have any in stock. But they were very helpful and willing to order us one. Gave us different options and specs on each bike. Thank you for your time and help!!! read more

Moved to new place next to in n out on foothills Ed Good service

My leaky Cannondale Lefty shock was turned in under the premises that they would either work on it, or turn it into Cannondale as needed. They promised to call me with updates. The work order consisted of refilling the hydraulic brake reservoir as well. Two weeks later, I called in to check on the status of my bike only to be told that the shock cannot be worked on due to it being an older model, per Cannondale. They don't manufacture parts for it any longer. They also talked over me(a little agitated, but still holding together) to get the message across that SOMEONE from that shop called to inform me of this. They said the only option was to buy a new fork for +$1000. Drove down to the shop resembling a parent whose child was neglected at a daycare. No work was done at all on the bike, and I don't think they tried to reach out to other places. If a lay person like me could find a place that would fix it for $60 after two phone calls, I am sure they could have achieved something equal or better, had they tried. I sent it out, and got it back within a week. I am just happy to have it done, with or without Competitive Edge. Those that gave five stars, I believe you. I hope you believe mine amidst all these GOOD work done by this shop. I don't mean to say they they had malicious intent, but this absolutely qualifies for negligence that resulted in a waste of my time. read more

Great service at this bike shop! I'm a newbie to the sport and just needed some cleats put on my new bike shoes. Super friendly and welcoming staff! Felt very comfortable to return a 2nd time to have the cleats adjusted. Thanks again! read more

Came in from out of town to rent a bike while visiting my parents. The owner said he really didn't have any rentable bikes, but I could come in and look at an old mountain bike he was going to fix up and resell. The bike was fine for biking around the city, so I took it and guessed he would only charge me $10/day. When I returned it 3 days later he said it was no charge. I was really touched that not only did he not charge me, but he didn't even ask for a deposit or any ID when I did take it for three days. The employee who was there when I returned it was also very nice. I would recommend this place to anyone! read more

Very happy with this place. I went in with an idea of what type of bike I wanted. Well that did not work out due to my weight/health issues. But the owner was able to help me pick a bicycle that would suit my needs and get me the most bang for my buck. I purchased a Globe Carmel that I'm really happy with and is comfortable and easy to ride, perfect for me a newbie trying to get in shape while also having fun. Took my bike in today for some adjustments and the service was polite and quick. read more

Super helpful staff. They work within your budget on repairs and stay in close contact thru the process. Great communication, no surprises. Also, they go to great lengths to find obscure parts. I had a fairly new crank fail on a bike I purchased in another state. Chris contacted the manufacturer (FSA) and got an upgrade sent right away at no cost!! read more

We drove from Fort Irwin to by my husband a bike. The guys were fantastic in helping him choose a bike that best fit him and his needs for riding. They let him ride the bike around in the parking lot to get a feel for it and he was sold. We walked out with a bike that day and he has thoroughly enjoyed it. Twice I have called to see if the shop was still open just to find out that they had already closed but employees were still there. Both times they said that if I needed something right away they would wait for me. I didn't need anything urgently, but Wow! That seems like something you might encounter in a small community where everyone knows everyone else - not in a city. I've also been in the store and noticed employees going above and beyond to help people with knowledge, cycling tips, and friendly maintenance info. This shop seems to be a bit of a social hub too for friendly people who want to encourage others to join riding groups. Just a really friendly place with a lot of bicycling knowledge. And, they never seem to try to pressure people to spend there. read more

Went to buy bike helmet for toddler son. They had one, which was good, because all we needed was one, and luckily blue with pirates was cool enough. Our first stop, Target, didn't carry any his size. Salesman/repair guy helped fit the helmet and answered my questions about fit, when to replace, and protection for back of head. Was very nice to me, but not so much for the lady waiting for something on hold. Is $44 expensive for a helmet? read more

The owner let me 'rent' a brand new Cannondale CAAD8 to test since I was new to road bikes. He did not even take a deposit or charge me any rent. I ended up getting a used bike elsewhere but would highly recommend this shop. The owner is a great guy. read more

I took my bicycle in for a tune up and to straighten out my rear wheel as I had jumped way too many curbs and gone down way too many stairs in moments of wild, carefree rides. Well the tune up the bike and its as good as new. The guy was friendly and it didn't cost me as much as I thought it would. read more
