Great local bicycle shop! Mark, the owner, is friendly, knowledgeable, honest, and provides excellent service. He genuinely cares about his customers and takes pride in his work. Highly recommend supporting Mark and his local business! read more

The young kid that was working there had the shittiest little "my shit don't stink" attitude. For some reason, he felt the need to show every bit of annoyance he possibly could whenever I was unsure about the details of my brand new bike I just received. Like don't offer your help then! He was definitely giving J.P. from Grandmas Boy. Go to incycle instead, trust me read more

We had been searching for the right E-Bikes for a while and decided to stop by Competitive Edge to help narrow down our options. As newcomers to the E-Bike world, we had visited another local shop first but were told the features we wanted simply weren't available on the type of bike we were looking for--which didn't seem right. That's when we met Mark at Competitive Edge. He took his time walking us through various models and manufacturers, carefully balancing our budget with the features that mattered most to us. His attention to detail was incredible, and at no point did we feel rushed or pressured into a decision. Thanks to the outstanding service, we ended up ordering our bikes right then and there. When we came back to pick them up, they were perfect and ready to ride! We chose two RadRover 6 Plus bikes, and they've been everything we hoped for--feature-rich, well-priced, and a total blast to ride. A huge shoutout to Mark and his team for their exceptional service and knowledge. Highly recommend! read more

Let me start with a confession: I do not generally write glowing reviews because griping is simply more fun. It offers more narrative range. More punchlines. More catharsis. Singing someone's praises, on the other hand, feels like work. So for me to be writing this, you can safely assume that someone at Competitive Edge earned it the hard way: by surviving me. I am, by any measure, a mechanical imbecile. Not modestly so--profoundly so. A screwdriver in my hand is not a tool but a threat. My grasp of bike maintenance hovers somewhere between medieval superstition and modern sabotage. And yet, I ride often. I ride far. I ride with cavalier abandon, full of confidence that whatever I break (short of myself--jury's still out) can and will be remedied by the sainted staff at Competitive Edge. They have exhibited inordinate patience, unwavering competence, and a level of human decency rarely seen outside of therapy or hostage negotiations. Pricing is always fair--if anything, suspiciously so, given what they've had to fix--and they've never once made me feel like the hopeless case I so clearly am. While I'm usually reluctant to single out individuals--everyone there has been great--I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Sean. Sean has consistently treated me like a functional adult despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. He explains things patiently, never overcomplicates, and somehow manages to hide his astonishment when I bring in yet another Frankenbike scenario of my own doing. The entire shop just gets it. They're kind without being condescending, skilled without being smug, and always willing to take the time to help--even when the problem is "I put the front wheel on backwards again." (Don't ask.) Bottom line: If you're looking for a bike shop that'll not only fix your equipment but also keep your dignity intact in the process, this is the place. They've earned my trust, my repeat business, and, most impressively, this review--which I would have much preferred to reserve for some good old-fashioned complaining. Thanks, Competitive Edge. You make mechanical ineptitude almost fun. read more

Great service! I brought my bike in and had the inner tubes replaced and new tires installed. The price was fair and the work done on time.

Omg! I'm really impressed w/ this shop. My son was riding his bike home from school & his bike was making a "funny" noise so he got off his bike. The back tire basically fell off & he looked around and saw nothing. He picked up the bike & tire and proceeded to walk the bike home. He was so angry he threw it in someone's trash on the way home. His dad & I forced him to go retrieve the bike. Basically, he had no axle or barring on his back tire and the bike was in bad condition. They saved his bike and kid has a means of transportation again. I was amazed of not just the job but the efficiency. Definitely, will go back for any bike concerns. read more

Bad experience. Took my bike in to have cables replaced and get tune up. When I got the bike it ran good and gears adjusted right. But upon closer inspection, still had the old cables, I know because it looks old and frayed . it was not replaced as ordered and I got charged for it. No indication in the work done that it wasn't replaced. I no longer had the receipts to prove the service paid so I can't go back. It's a disappointment . Will not use this shop again. read more

They took my Mountain bike and made it into a Single speed So excited.... went to bumstead 1st and they couldn't do it?? Realized Competitive Edge was on foothill by In-N-Out instead of foothill and Euclid and that got me more excited because it's five minutes from my house!!!!!! Appreciate Shawn/Sean for taking on the project and being enthusiastic about it and hooking me up!!! read more

Twice I've arrived during business hours, and twice now they've been closed. The hours are clearly displayed and I arrived during business hours. This is unacceptable. Most times the mechanics are nice but Mark seems to nit want certain people's business. Coupled with the wasted trips, will no longer be taking my bike here. I have brought my bikes here for several years now. No more. read more

The store is big and has many bike options but no fixies in stock. I guess this part of town bikers aren't into fixies compared to the downtown Los Angeles area. They had some cool options on mountain bikes and at reasonable prices for the quality of the bicycles in stock. read more

I was very impressed with the service at The Competitive Edge Cyclery. They quickly analyzed my bike issue, figured out the best options, circled back with me, and did the fix for a very inexpensive price. Clearly I recommend you check out this shop, particularly if you have a Cannondale (though they service a number of brands). If you get hungry or need your car washed you can address both close by while your bike gets serviced. read more

I foolishly waited until a couple days before our RV trip to get our bikes serviced, however Brian came through for us with same day service. Very very unhappy with competitive edge cycler's service. I purchased cycling shoes and tried them out that same day (lightly) to see how they actually performed and felt. Unfortunately Not what I expected but I wasn't to worried because on the receipt and on the website of competitive edge cyclery they clearly state that any returns within 30 days of purchase would be refunded or replaced, in this case a refund. I spoke to Mark the owner of both shops and he just gave me the runaround without even looking at the shoes ! Don't recommend this place at all if your considering going here go to Incycle or Roy's instead !! read more

Needed an inner tube, but they didn't have the size in stock last week. Tried again today and they did. I called ahead to be sure and every time I call, the staff is friendly and thorough in helping me. I was able to replace the inner tube myself, but if I did need help, I know where to go. Also, with the COVID bike rush now over, they have a nice selection to choose from. read more

The service here is top notch and the the technicians that work here are highly experienced and professional. I brought my Schwinn mountain bike here that I had purchased on Amazon after the right pedal stripped out while riding. I tried to fix it on my own not knowing all the intricacies that go into the maintenance. It didn't go well. Anyways, I brought the bike here and expressed my concerns and they took care of it. Not only did they fix everything the bike crank and pedals, they went above and beyond. They properly indexed the bike and routed all the brake and gear cables properly. I was looking hard and long for a Scott Addict Premium ebike. I had looked throughout the USA for this bike with no luck. Yet, Mark worked with his Scott distributor to hunt this bike down. It took several months to get the bike, but we'll worth it. Sean set up the bike perfectly and Mark educated me on the nuances of this ebike. Got my dream bike thanks to this team. Mark's store is 30 miles away from me and I have them as my preferred LBS. They now have my Peugeot PX-10E which the are refurbishing and restoring, My wife owns a Scott Foil RC and will only let Mark or Sean touch it. Having been an avid cyclist for over 50 years, Mark's shop is reminiscent of a personalized local bike shop of the 1970's intent on giving the best product and service solely for the purpose of enjoying bicycling. My wife and I will go nowhere else for our cycling needs. read more

Mark quickly ordered it and had the part in the shipped to his shop in a week. brought the bike in that same day he called and had me out of the shop in less than 30 minutes including torquing my bolts to spec so it wouldn't happen anymore and rode the next day without issues on the bike. these guys are legit bike fanatics, awesome people, very down to earth and easy to work with. i hope to be able to buy a new ebike from you guys in the future! more power to you guys at competitive cyclery! you guys earned another happy customer. thank you! read more

Went it to get a spoke repaired on the mountain bike. They said $20.00 and I said they need to true the rim too so they raised the price to $25.00. They then said it would be two days. They called me on third day said oh we can't do it for that price because it's tubeless I said they knew that and I have the copy of the recipe with the price they quoted me. He then said it was another $15 to true it! So now we are at double the price to do the repair and it's three days. I said no that bs. He said he would have to wait to talk to the boss if you don't like the price and that would be in the morning so I said fine. But I needed the bike so I called back and said just finish it and I will pay whatever just do it and I will head over and pick it up now. Got there and wasn't done and the guy was playing on the computer, I could see the screen. He said hey man it's not done and I said I called you and I just drove an hour and a half in traffic and you said it would be done. But now he says not till closing at 7:00 pm which he never said. Then he tells me and the wife that he does the repairs on his write ups first and when they are done then he will work on the repairs that the boss writes up no matter when they are promised. He said I take care of my guys first. We took the rim home! I have been buying bikes and having them maintained there since they opened in Upland. I always had great service from the original owner but something has changed. They have become so unprofessional and smarmy. The older guy that originally wrote me up is great, no complaints with him but the two young guys need some training and enhanced work ethic. I'm done with CE! read more

I am so appreciative of this bike shop!! I was referred by a friend who is an avid cyclist to come here when my recent Offer Up "what-a-great-deal" purchase turned out to be a "what-a-great-deal-of work" purchase (lesson learned!). Brought the broken bike in with no real hope of salvaging, Mark and his awesome team of velocipede wizards really went above and beyond to bring my busted beach cruiser back to life. If I could give this store zero stars, I would. But my initial interaction with the technician at this store was pleasant, so 1 star will suffice. After calling ahead to get a quote on brake pad adjustment on a bike I had purchased from Amazon, I was quoted $30 for this service. I thought that was completely reasonable, so I took my bike in that night and dropped it off for the adjustment and was given a receipt with $30 written on it as a quote. After a few days, I received a phone call from a gentleman who was working on my bike and stated he needed to talk to me about the bike. I called back and he had very broken English, but was saying something along the lines of my pedal was missing. I didn't quite understand him, so I told him that both of my pedals were there when we dropped it off. He then proceeded to tell me he found it and would call me back when my bike was finished. He finally called me back a couple of hours later and stated that my bike was ready for pickup. When we went to pick up my bike, I stayed in the car with my two young children while my husband went in to pick up my bike. When my husband went in, they said they had mixed up my bike tag with another bike's repairs. When they found my bike, they had already taken payment from my husband and then told him it was going to be $69 for a "tune up". When my husband told the associate that we did not request a tune-up, nor were we informed it was necessary or gave our ok to proceed with that service. My husband demanded that the associate refund the difference to his card for the cost of the "tune up" and to only charge us for the brake pad adjustment (which was in writing on our receipt), since it was what we had discussed. The associate initially refused, stating he "couldn't let an unsafe bike leave his shop" and that this was a current law. This is a complete lie and as with a car, you cannot do work that was not agreed upon or discussed prior to getting consent from the owner and subsequently charge the owner for it. After some further arguing back and forth, the associate finally refunded my husband the extra $39 that was charged for the "tune-up" they performed. Fast forward to today. I was out riding my bike and attempting to change gears, the chain completely came off and my bike is unable to change gears. I completely feel my bike was never worked on or touched because if they had performed this "tune-up" they claimed, the incident today would not have happened. Bikers beware of this shop, they are taking advantage of riders who need their service. I am extremely disappointed in the service and customer service that was portrayed by this shop. read more

Went it to see if they had any bikes within a price range most bike shops have and he said they didn't have any and wouldn't get any for a while so I said is there any bikes you would recommend and he said let's look for a certain type of bike and I told him enduro and he started only showing me xc bikes when I told him it was an xc bike he kept saying no no it's an enduro when it clearly wasn't and the whole time talking to him he had a bad attitude that made us leave the store within 5 minutes. Then a couple year prior to this we went in and they still had bad attitude and weren't helpful at all. Wouldn't recommend going here. Thought they would improve over two year but I guess not. read more

My NEW favorite bike shop in the Inland Empire! Needed a rush job done on my electric bike in order to return to work the following morning at 4am. Firstly, most bike shops won't even TOUCH an electric bike. Secondly, the two in Upland/Ontario that I knew worked on ebikes were giving ETA's of next week for job completion. Mark with Competitive Edge answered my call, heard my situation, and took care of my brakes and pedals (my issues coming in) within a few hours! Not only that, but he did me the huge favor of fixings some odds and ends for me on top of what I went in for! Thank you, Mark and thank you Competitive Edge! read more

Went in to have my Townie repaired after not being able to ride it for a few months. My first time at the shop. Jeff took the to the bike back for a look. He said there was a 2 week wait for repairs because of high demand. After about 10 minutes, he came back with my bike and said it was all ready to go. He had adjusted the breaks and the wheel, oiled the chain, and the bike ran good as new. Just like that! Thank you Jeff for your honesty and expertise.
