Greg at local bike stand is great to work with. I made the mistake of buying my wife a full suspension mountain bike online. It arrived partially assembled and Greg did the final assembly for me. The bike was assembled perfectly but it turned out the bike is too heavy and the tires are too wide, so I needed to ship it back. Greg worked with us and helped me to disassemble the bike and fit it into an appropriate box for shipment. A tough lesson to learn... And I will lose some money on returning this bike, but I'd rather get something that's a better fit for my wife. My recommendation, don't go for the online bike orders, work with your local bike shop, Greg in particular. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. The prices are very reasonable as well. I first found out about The Local Bike Stand back in September of 2021 here on yelp and I had a bent chain due to a dropped chain, requiring a new one. When other shops were closed, this one was open for business and ready to assist me. Fast forward to the end of January '22, I sustained a nasty crash in my new carbon road bike. The non-drivetrain side of the chainstay had cracked and I was absolutely devastated. I remembered the prompt, courteous service I received from Greg back in September and decided to call to find out if they could assess my bike. After brief inspection and tapping the carbon frame for inconsistency, it was evident that the cracked area required repair. I was quoted 4-5 weeks for the carbon repair to be done by another carbon repair shop they were familiar with in LA. Greg and Scott took care of completely disassembling the bike and shipping only the frame so that repairs could be done. Greg kept in touch with me regarding the type of paint job I wanted after repair was done. I went back and forth between clear coat and black, ultimately deciding I wanted to go with black since my bike has a black/white theme. I am very, very pleased with the way the bike came back from the shop. Greg and Scott did an excellent job building my bike up together again with quick and reasonable turnaround time. I had also asked for components to be swapped once I had arrived and they both got to work with no questions asked. He wrote out my wheel measurements and we both agreed upon a set of Hunt Aero Alloy rims. They offered performance without breaking my bank account. I went ahead, ordered them online and had him install them, was able to book an appointment about 3 days ahead. He was able to get the job done in under an hour. Because of the backed up service of all the local bike shops, I decided to try out The Local Bikestand. Greg got back to me quickly and we scheduled a time for him to pop by my home. I got two estimates from other nearby bike shops in Upland and Claremont and they were 20-50% higher than what I was charged with this dude. Really nice guy. Reasonable prices and he didn't up-sell me on anything else. I was afraid that after he finished the repair on my bike that I would get hit with extra unknown costs but he charged me what we discussed initially. I really like that. I took my bike there for a tune up and to have them check out the chain, sprockets, gears, and brakes. They did a great job on the tune up, even fixing things that most other places would probably charge for. My gears were a little off in the back and making noise and they got those adjusted. The chain and sprockets didn't need replacing and it was nice that instead of just doing it and charging me, they were honest and told me they were fine. And lastly, they made the adjustments needed for my brakes so that they are working in peak form. They even cleaned up the areas of the bike that were caked with dirt, grease, and who knows what. You have a loyal customer now and I've mentioned you to a few friends that have bikes and live in the area. read more

I've had issues with almost all of the local Specialized dealers...the latest incident was a new custom built wheel that needed to be setup tubeless with a Vittoria Air-liner insert...they did it fast, but the shop damaged the end cap, the insert was loose inside the tire and the tire would not hold air. I brought a brand new bike from another shop and brought in parts for them to customize it...after waiting 3 weeks, I picked my new bike and my parts (but they still lost my slightly used front tire that cost me $100 to replace). So I decided to give this a try. Greg showed up on time, retaped the wheel and installed the tire and insert, then he installed the new rear wheel along with shifters and derailleurs on two bikes.
