Make sure to take anything off you bike you want to keep. My basket was stolen when I took it in for a tune up.

Was going here for years without issues other than they are way more expensive than Incycle down the street. But we live so close to this one, when our bikes get a flat we walk the bike over to get fixed. We had our flat fixed and were sold the expensive pink Armour tire liner $60 plus $20 to put it in and another $21 for another inner tube. Spent $110 after tax. The next day the tire went flat... granted when I picked it up the tire looked very odd and even lopsided but what do I know I don't work at a bike shop, so I just figured it was just the insert filling up the tire. My husband pumped it up thinking maybe they just forgot to inflate the tube, so we did that. We never rode it, it stayed in garage. The next day it was flat again. I called them to let them know it was flat again and we never used it. He said maybe the kid that was working on it, who literally was a young boy maybe pinched it when putting it in... brought it in... called them later that evening to see if they were able to figure it out. The guy was super rude claiming he doesn't know what happened when we left the shop so we have to pay for another tube and he would waive the $20 to install it. He mentioned he got yelled at by the owner and that he is loosing product so he needs to charge. I asked what happens to the tire though. He claimed there were two small holes like from a staple... if there were two tiny holes from a staple then what was the point of the $60 protector they swore would take a nail to pop the tube not a tiny staple. Again was super rude claiming I must have done something to the tire. I was like "the next day it was flat" I didn't even use it. I'm not trying to get crap for free, I paid for a new tube and spent $110 to protect the tube and somehow a tiny staple he claimed. Again he was just assuming but really the first thing of what he said over the phone with the kid replacing the tire and that he might have punched it seemed more likely. But that required them to "loose product" but instead they lost a customer that had been going there for years and the one time there is an issue they are rude as crap and take no responsibility or want to make it right. Will never go here again and will make sure the rest of our family doesn't either. Go to incycle! They are super friendly replace it right in front of you so you can SEE what they are actually doing and have great attitudes. read more

Well deserved 5 Star Rating for the following reasons: -Exemplary customer service -Clean shop -Services provided were prompt and efficient -Competitive pricing -Mark, the owner, is the Real Deal Here's my experience with this shop. I've been cycling since 2011 and finally decided it's time to upgrade from my oversized 2008 Trek Alpha 1.2. I researched online and came across a few models I had in mind. I really wanted 105 components, disc brakes and carbon frame (willing to settle for aluminum). The top 3 models were the Specialized Allez, Bianchi Sempre Pro, Cannondale CAAD13, and Scott Addict 20. I showed up on a Monday around 12pm along with my two kids. I was quickly greeted by Sean, explained to him I was really interested in the Scott Addict 20. To my dismay their inventory was very limited due to high demand from this pandemic. I was made aware that their next shipment was going to be around end of summer. I was pretty bummed out because I was really looking forward to upgrading to something new. I figured that I would end up having to just go on a waiting list for the next shipment to come in. Sean had me talk to Mark, the owner, to see if he could help out. Mark spent a lot of time asking what I was looking for, making constructive comments on pros and cons to the different brands, and even searched through different bike inventories to help me find what I really wanted. He seriously went out of his way to help me, and at the same time he was able to answer phone calls, and kindly help other customers walking in. He found me a Cannondale Synapse Carbon Fiber 105 with disc breaks at a price I could afford. He had his mechanics install the pedals, seat, and drink cages I wanted, and made sure everything was perfect. I was able to test out the bike and made sure everything was to my liking. I am very impressed with this store, I will definitely come back for future purchases and bike services. I highly recommend this place for your cycling needs. Mark really went above and beyond. If this experience doesn't deserve a 5 star rating, I really don't know what does. read more

I bought an electric bike. The bike is great. Competitive edge put it together. They did a great job and suggesting a lock, and helped me load my bike in my truck. I plan to go back to get more help. read more

Bought a bike there and the service was great. And guess what???? They are open Mondays.

I took my bike in to get a tire replaced and rear to front tire rotation. Well it turns out that changing a tire at competitive edge results in a complete misalignment of the rear derailleur and chain system. I honestly just can't comprehend why they would consider my bike to be ready for pick up without having previously checked that the derailleur and chain system was functioning properly. Or if they did check and saw it wasn't shifting properly, I don't understand why they wouldn't take a couple minutes to fix the problem they caused. Probably wouldn't take my bike back to them even if they offered to correct their mediocre work for free. 2 stars simply because now I decided I'd learn to service my own bike, thanks competitive edge! read more

The staff here are super friendly and wonderful. They are extremely knowledgeable and got my bike back to me extremely fast. I can't wait to keep coming back here for all of my repairs. read more

Staff here is super friendly and knowledgeable. Very honest about service waits and expectations. Highly recommended !!!

Very discouraging. Came here looking to possibly get a road bike and was basically told to try looking else where due to the size of frame/bike I'd need. Customer service just felt a bit snobby and cold. Luckily I went to another shop in the area and got a great bike. This shop has a small selection but if you're an average sized male I'm sure you'd find something... read more

(1.) These gentlemen fixed my bike (I usually carry spare parts and tools, but the vengeful 'Murphy' and his law, caught me with trousers down...), and treated my ride with respect, and the expertise I don't always encounter when riding my 'rig.' Lots of item for 10 speed, mountain bikes, and 'fixies.' (2.) The shop had lots of good product(s), and the personnel were helpful and friendly, and I feel great bringing my ride back here, and it's a very convenient location (and they had great music playing in the backgound): ( * next door to 'In and Out Burger' * on the north side of Foothill, approx. * 600 feet east of Footill Blvd. and Central Ave.* in Upland, CA, exactly 1.1 miles east of the northeast corner of The Claremont Colleges). read more

Purchased a Talon Giant bike with Mark. He was very helpful and very knowledgeable about the bikes specs and features. He allowed me to test out multiple bikes to see what would be the best fit. Overall, it was a great experience. Great customer service. Thanks again Mark. read more

So far so good. Affordable and reasonable prices. I've had tune ups and a drop post installed. Everything working like clock work. Plus I am supporting small businesses. #letsgobrandon read more

Based on the reviews this seems like it would be a decent bike shop. I thought I would give them a try since they are much closer to me then my preferred shop. Unfortunately, my experiences showed a lack of care and attention to detail. I own two e-bikes one of which I brought to them for a rear tire flat and tune up. It took substantially longer then the agreed upon time for them to complete the requested service. When I went to pick up the bike (and drop a second bike off for some minor adjustments), I had to point out to them that the rear tire was NOT properly seated on the rim and the tube was pinched out between the rim and the tire. They fixed it but it took several tries, I don't know how this went unnoticed while the bike was on the stand and have never experienced this with any bike shop before. What I also noticed after a thorough inspection at home was a large scratch on my front rim as if someone had dropped a tool on it and that a zip tie securing the electrical cable to the frame had NOT been replaced after servicing the bike. My initial experience with them had soured me on the idea them working on my second bike so I went back to pick-up my bike before they started any work. Somehow, they caused a small tear in my bike seat without doing any work! I also got the vibe that they were doing me a favor by working on my bike. No "thank you for your business" or "Whoops, our bad on the tire mess" but lots of "yeahs" and "okays". To be fair I did not address these issues with them because I thought it wouldn't go anywhere, especially with the attitude. I will never take a bike here again. I would rather push my e-bike six miles to my preferred bike shop then go here. read more

Did not end up making a purchase from these guys, that's the only reason I didn't get them 5-stars which is almost unfair to them. Seems to be a small, well run shop. I had visited 5-10 shops around the same time period and was really impressed with him they educated me, took their time to answer pedantic questions and really were a huge help. Although ultimately I decided to purchase elsewhere, these guys were fantastic and I almost feel guilty to not have done business with them although I have no doubt I will in the future. read more

I have been a customer here for more than 10 years and have bought two mountain bikes here for myself and at least five for my three sons as they have grown up, along with many accessories. Mark has treated us exceptionally well over the years. Whenever we have a flat or need an adjustment, the team has taken care of us quickly for a reasonable price. When Competitive Edge was at its old location a block from my house, my 9-year-old son could walk his bike down to the store by himself and they'd take care of him, sometimes for no charge if it was a minor adjustment. We might have bought bikes cheaper somewhere else, but having the great service over the past decade has been well worth it. read more

Mark is so awesome! He has helped me in every way to feel comfortable in my new bike purchase. He was willing to let me ride in the parking lot to test drive a few bikes and made sure I was good to go. read more

As a daily senior rider no longer super adept at my own maintenance, I was pleased that Competitive Edge serviced the brakes and other issues on my mountain and road bike within a couple of days. One bike came home just fine, but the other had some slight grinding sounds, so we took it back, and within half an hour Sean diagnosed the problem, fixed it, and test rode the bike in the parking lot twice. All good now! read more

I had a minor repair, and everybody is backed up a couple weeks for repairs during Covid. The guy found a spare part they had in the workshop and fixed in on the spot for me. They just went out of their way, and that's more than enough reason for me to be a future customer. read more

The owner needs to check in with their help. Went in for a bike part and was told to wait. In that time the young man behind the counter made phones calls to order lunch, talk to friends about his hangover from last night and so on. We left after about 15 minutes of this. Went to Roy's where service was excellent. read more

Their website. One star. You cannot email, chat, or ask a question via their website. How outdated is that? Sometimes, the telephone is not the best way to communicate. Stores get busy and the hired help just can't spend much time with you on the phone. If you have a technical question, the first person might not have the answer so it's hot potato with the phone. Come on guy's, get it together. It's 2015. read more

This place has superb customer service! Everyone is friendly and cool to talk to. I like that they fix the bikes too. Even brought my flat jogging stroller tire here a while back and they got it patched up in no time. Everyone in here is knowledgable about bikes since it seems like everyone who works here rides. So they will be more than happy to give you thier opinion on any products and questions you may have. They tell it like it is and won't try to sell you more than what you need. The inside of the store may not be all shiney and sparkily like other retail sporting goods shops, but the excellent service and quality products more than make up for the store front. I def. recommend this place! read more

After a crash last week, I saw a special for a "$29 Tune Up" at the Competitive Edge and decided to bring in my single-speed 29'er that, post crash, was badly in need of a truing. A made an appointment and dropped off my bike on Wednesday. I was a bit surprised that the tech estimated $60-$70 to essentially true and grease up a single speed - but C'est la vie. Friday I came by to pick it up. No problems there - but when I went to pay, my bill was $68. I presented my coupon and had the strangest conversation. Me: "I printed this coupon off your website." The Tech: "Ok, so it says $29 for Single Speeds, but actually that means BMX bikes. But, I guess I'll give it to you anyway. But, then the tech had to take your tires off to true your wheels, and that's not included, so that'll be another $10. So how about $39?" Me: "Ok." I mean, the last time I had a bicycle in for a "Tune Up", the bill was $80, so $39 isn't a half bad price. But pretending like a coupon that says "Single Speeds" really means "BMX Bikes" and charging me $10 to take my tires off when you true them somehow got my goat. If you can't actually afford to sell $29 tune ups, change the coupon on your site, don't change the price after you've done the work. In my survey of IE bike shops, Don's in Rialto is still my favorite - though you have to brave the Ghetto to get there. The Cyclery USA in Redlands has very friendly and competent staff, but charged me $80+ for my last aforementioned tune up. I'm sure the perfect bike shop exists, I just haven't found it yet. read more

When you go to Competitive Edge Cyclery, you get friendly, personalized service. They are a family business and are willing to help out anyone with cycling needs. No bike snobs here! Patronize this local business before going to the big retail bicycle outlets! I brought in my road bike just for a quick pedal exchange; they informed me the gears on my bike were installed incorrectly, they were more than happy to adjust them for me. They have succeeded in fixing them quickly and perfectly. I highly recommend Competitive Edge Cyclery. read more

Never leave reviews, but I could not help but appreciate all the help and information I received from Competitive Edge Cyclery. i was a first time buyer and was not quite sure of what I was looking for. I did a little research online but it is totally different when you are biking at a LBS. I previously went to some LBS that were a little closer to my house, but 1 of the 2 really did not help at all. Customer service was not really on point. When I got to Comp. Edge customer service was on point right of the bat. Chris walked up to me and asked me if I needed help. I let him know my budget and he asked what kind of riding I was going to do. Chris was very patient and recommended a few bikes to me. I even had the opportunity to ride all the bikes he recommended. I strongly recommend Comp. Edge Cyclery in Upland. The staff is friendly, willing to work with you and very informative. They love what they do and are passionate about biking/cycling. read more

Went to Competitive Edge Cyclery to find a new bike for my wife. Left with a bike for my wife, a new triathlon bike for me, bike fit and a few accessories;) I'm not an impulsive shopper, but the prices were great, service excellent and, to boot, supporting a local business. Highly recommend to any newbie to the sport, someone wishing to upgrade, or a family looking for bikes to spend quality time together. Awesome shop! read more

Don't know where to begin with my disappointment with this business. I can write many paragraphs. I dropped off two bikes weeks ago and finally after calling many times I came in. They said the bikes are done. Out of the 10 things I asked to do, only 1 thing, new tires, was done correctly and that was wrong even. Such incompetent fools. They didn't do what I wanted and broke 2 pieces. I should've not paid but I just wanted to get my bikes out of that place. I asked for owners name and was freely given. They don't care about the customer or being fired I guess. Rude morons. I can't recommend or will ever go back to this shop! read more

Anyone who purchases a bicycle from any other Cyclery is silly. I researched a few other bike shops in the area, and no one came close to the knowledge & customer service of Competitive Edge. My wife & I appreciated Andrew's patience with us. He understood we need special attention when ordering my bike, to make sure everything turned out just perfect. We were also in need of a car rack that would help get both our bikes to the coast. He gave us multiple options and explained each one. Another reason we decided to go with Competitive Edge, was their commitment to us regarding two years of shop service as long as I stayed the original owner of my Electra Men's Tall 26" 7-speed cruiser. Thank you again Andrew for all your help!!! You have a customer for many years to come. Bradley read more

These guys finished servicing my bike as promised and did it kind a reasonable price. I'll be coming back in the future for sure.

This is by far THE BEST BIKE SHOP IN OUR AREA. I have been a patron of Competitive Edge since the early 1990's, purchasing everything from a $300 Trek mountain bike back then to a $6,000 Felt "29er" most recently, in addition to road bikes and accessories as well over the 25 year period. When you walk into Competitive Edge, you get much more than just a bike, you get a team of professional experts, led by Mark, the very hands-on owner, who is always there serving customers and often putting bikes up on the rack himself to service alongside his excellent lead mechanic, Eddie. Mark and his team not only remain on the cutting edge of cycling innovation and technology advances, I have also witnessed throughout the years, Mark and his team equally as happily assist the occasional down and out "homeless" person, who just needs a tire repair on their broken old bike, treated as courteously as they treat the wealthy demanding professional cyclist who pays $10,000 for two bicycle wheels. I've seen everything imaginable roll in and out of this bike shop over these 25 years, and no matter what it is, Mark turns his expert eye on it and figures out exactly what is needed. If you make the mistake of buying a bike on the internet, you just get a bike. Just go to Competitive Edge instead and you will not only get fair prices and the highest level of professional support but also you may well end up with new friends for life. read more

Ordered a bike from their website...10 days pass and I didn't receive so I called the shop. Spoke to someone with broken English who had zero interest in helping me or giving me any updates. 4-5 days later (2 weeks after initial order), my credit card order is refunded. I never received an explanation/text/email/call from these bozos. Just horrible customer service and a refund read more

These guys like to make vague negative comments about their customers bikes; Especially the bald guy & the manager with the grey hair at both locations. To be honest I don't think they like people with high end mountain bikes since they're used to selling cheap ones with a passion. Thankfully, I got to order mine through the owner since they didn't have it on the sales floor for general abuse. Don't trust these guys with your life; They almost got me killed in Marshall Canyon after claiming they fixed what turns out to be a sticking piston in both front & rear calipers. This was also with stock components that came with the bike that they didn't know how to maintain, I ended up upgrading the bikes brakes & the problem went away but so did competitive edge. I won't deal with them anymore, I'll have the wheel balancing & other maintenance tasks carried out through someone else. There's plenty of cheap bike shops around, just do your homework & visit the places you want to order a bike from at least once before you make your purchase. This should give you a feel of every bike shop you're dealing with & give you a face to face yes or no on a lower price for the same bike at a competing bike shop. P.S. If you see KHS (Extremely cheap bike brand from china) at any of the bike shops you visit, RUN. These things work but only if you plan on visiting a third world country. read more

Brought in two used bikes for some TLC. The staff did not make any remarks as to why I should just buy new bicycles from them. Instead, they listened to the reason why I was there, and promtply proceeded to providing me an estimate. A day and half later the tuned bikes ride very well. In fact, after the tune ups, one wouldn't think these bikes have not seen worse days! Highly recommend this shop not just to purchase a bike, but also for maintenance. Well made bikes aren't cheap, so knowing a good shop to bring them in to get them in shape is a must. I'll definitely be returning to this shop for their expertise and professional character! read more

Make sure you get there before they close! I was running behind in my schedule and was on my way to their shop to drop off two bikes for repair.
